OAM4J: I don't know why you and these "power brokers" are afraid of the question. It is not likely majority will agree that we break up, but for the record we need to have it documented that we Nigerians agreed to live together so we dont keep telling our children's children that one Lugard or A country called Britain forced us to live together. That agreement document is key and very important for our Nationhood.

perfectgen: @kofoshi, I agree with you that I should embrace globalism rather than Nationalism but as they say charity begins at home. I cannot run to Ghana or South Africa now to claim to be one of them even though we are all Africans but wherever I chose to go in Nigeria, I should be welcome if tribalism isn't the order of the day. If our government officials are answerable to us since we are the ones who voted them into power and provide the basic necessities of life, I bet that we would stop running away from Nigeria and we would earn the respect of the other African countries. The only way we can make the government answerable to us is if we all with one voice confront corruption in government with no thought for whose ox is gored.
stop this conceptual "we"! You can't force people to be a "we" when they would rather look to their ethnic group for identity. Nigeria is a creation of the west, it wasn't the decision of the concerned groups. I bet you are one of those who want us to shed colonialism and embrace our tradition yet, you would not hear of it if some are taking the idea of being who they really are literally. You speak of charity beginning at home, why then is it difficult for you to accept that home to some of us is Yorubaland and not Nigeria? I know you would rather live in a Utopian society where everyone get along but my dear, that is a tall order. We can do business together but we don't have to be together. If truly, we can live together peacefully, why do we have maps? Why do we have states? Why not just be Nigerian? Why do we have states going to the centre for allocation when the centre can disburse allocation to all individually?

You are playing double standard and being hypocritical, my friend. If you can accept nationalism albeit based on a fake creation, then you must accept tribalism. It is only when people are well assured in their identity that they can be confident enough to form a greater alliance with others.

Live and let live. Practice your nationalism and let others practice tribalism, simples!

perfectgen: @voltron, I understand your outburst due to our government's failing but don't get it wrong; it isn't a Lagos thing, it is a Nigerian thing. You complained about agberos leeching the tax-paying non-Lagosians day in day out but is that not the case for we the tax-paying Lagosians too? My point is that wherever wrongdoings are observed, we should be open-minded in criticizing the situation and not the tribe affected with the positive attitude of someone who wants things to change generally rather than someone who would justify his/her criticism under tribalistic views. These people we keep supporting as our tribesmen are planning for their generations while we continue being tribalistic.
May I ask you this? Why are you patriotic about Nigeria? Why not concern yourself about Ghana or other African countries? Why so selfish about your country alone? You should embrace the idea of one Africa and not just one Nigeria. If you dislike tribalism, then you must also not like nationalism. You should really be embracing globalism, shouldn't you?
PoliticsRe: Open Letter To The Tribalistic Fool by kofoshi: 2:52pm On Oct 27, 2013
perfectgen: @kofoshi, I am glad to hear that your tribesmen are doing well for your community in terms of leadership and I wish them well, continue encouraging them but if I may appeal to you, never judge any other person's leader because of their tribe but principally based on their deeds. That way, you can jointly help in seeing a better Nigeria; which by the way is all you have. No tribe is all-in-all, we depend on one another for our livelihood.
@oil_suop, I admit that we love tribalism in Nigeria and as you mentioned "Yorubas love tribalism" but if I may deem it fit to say, you are wrong. We as individuals choose what we believe and how we act; it is the individual and not the Yoruba that loves tribalism. Anybody who chooses to be tribalistic does so based on personal inclination and not because his tribe is known for that. Is there any tribe in Nigeria that is not known for hardwork? People chose to be hard working just as others chose to be tribalistic. Tribalism card has been played by our leaders all along with us being the ones to suffer for it; I advise we become wiser and face the issue on ground; it isn't a tribe that is robing us of the joys of good governance but individuals
In as much as you wish me to respect your views and subscribe to your prescription of the ideal conduct in a nation. I must ask you also to respect my views in the disbelief and disregard for Nigeria. I am totally uninterested in other ethnic groups and their progress because they have no direct effect on my wellbeing. Perhaps, I would pretend to care if I had a vested interest elsewhere in the country but I don't. May I therefore appeal to your sensibilities to accord me the right and respect to not give two fingers in the air about others but my ethnic group alone? Thank you, I know you'll understand.

PoliticsRe: Open Letter To The Tribalistic Fool by kofoshi:
perfectgen: @kofoshi, I would only reply you because I need to make some things straight; Alimosho LGA is the most populated LGA in Lagos state and has always had the Aworis as the first settlers which makes it a Yoruba community. For your loyalty to your tribe before country, that is your choice to make but I will ask you only one question: Can your tribesmen in government guarantee you the future you crave for and the kind of direction that is emulative of leadership? If not, then, you are one of those who are not helping the situation of Nigeria by supporting mediocrity.
Putting this current dispensation into focus, I would say that my tribesmen have done stellar jobs and have outperformed all other leaders from other region although I cannot say that they are without flaws or there are no areas still beckoning their attention.

So, to answer your question directly, I would say if the leverage was between my tribesmen and others in the country, then yes, they can guarantee the future I crave in exemplary leadership..

perfectgen: @seanet01, you actually made me laugh because it is evident you have a myopic view about issues that can better your life. The person who would make Nigeria better doesn't have to come from your tribe and if the person who is not letting us make headway in Nigeria happens to come from my tribe, I will never pledge my loyalty to him/her because I want the best for my generation.
@azeezhy, when I said we should comment based on facts and expectations, I know what I meant. For your information, I am a Lagosian from the same Alimosho LGA and I am surprised that my mention of the govt. not providing a good bridge for the inhabitants of that community and being justified by our state minister for works and infrastructure is being treated by you as a tribal issue. Is it the place of common people to start levying one another tolls for a wooden bridge that the govt. should have provided or are you telling me that because you are not affected, you don't feel the plight of those people? If it were in the North or East, would it be justifiable for criticism? That is what I am driving at; the government has failed us and I don't care where it is happening (North, South, East or West), I will never treat it as a tribal issue and I thought with the level of your education, you should likewise strive for accountability rather than foolhardy criticism of tribes.
Alimosho? Isn't that an Igbo area? Are igbos now naturalising to Yoruba?

Well, good development all around.

Welcome into the fold. Oodua a gbe wa o.

Desola started the tribal insults.

Anyone jumping in because yorubas were insulted because of her, should take that fact into consideration.

She not only started it, she kept on in the hopes of starting a flame war.

Anybody falling into her trap ( especially the ones responding to the anti-yoruba comments), na you sabi o.

Try to rein her in like the goat she is instead of encouraging her senselessness.

Born 2be Rich: To be honest, i am really disappointed with what desola posted...Why should you insult a whole tribe because of your sheer hatred to the precidency? I am highly disappointed in the likes of you and anyother person here that supports desola's ill ranting...Desola and co has sproven to me that the yoruba tribe is highly tribalistic...I thought it was a fallacy but i can see things clearly...If the Igbos were the ones doing this sort of ranting, the MODS would have banned all of them by now, but here we still have her own post of bigotry visible to all..No wonder the western world makes a mokery of this great country when we still have people like this that has hatred for her fellow citizens..

Blaming GEJ for nigeria's problem is not only backwards but also senseless...Was GEJ in power when Nigeria was hitting the rocks? What did the past presidents of Nigeria with the Likes of IBB, OBJ, Abubakar, ABacha etc do to move this country forward?

We should learn to show our fellow brothers/sisters love instead of this headless tribalism..As for desola, you said that the ijaws are useless, but can the yoruba tribe there live without them? There are so many yoruba, igbos and even hausas that are benefitting from the oil in that region and you call them useless...Can the yoruba tribe stand alone without Hausas, Igbos, and the Niger deltans??

To be honest anybody that will take you as a wife should be ready for war because you have displayed total insubordination and lack of respect for others.

Lets stop this senseless tribalism and think of how we can become one and move this country forward.
Accusinh Desola baby of calling ijaw names yet in the same vein collectively called Yorubas 'tribalistic'.

Aren't you doing exactly the same thing you are accusing her of?

You are highly confused and have no moral grounding to call her out. In fact, you are worse!

Go to the sectarian and ethnic rivalry corner of politics section and see how your brothers have littered the whole forum with hatred for Yorubas.

The question begging for an answer is: will core Deltans ala Urhobo, Isoko, Ishekiri who collectively make up the bulk of Delta electorate vote for her? Her recent fraternisation with her Igbo kins across the Niger would suggest that she has her ethnic group more at heart than that of her state so other bonafide Deltans might be worried.

Is she the best candidate for the job? My opinion is that she is most certainly not when gauged by her performance in the central.

Gbawe.:
You sad losers are not fooling anyone with your 'victim' whining after you have been exposed to be guilty of the usual fake and unobjective negativity only driven by the nauseating bad belle you have for others. Look, you and others should redeem yourselves by displaying the "critical analysis" you talked off via showing cogent reasons for your opposition to this. Do that now or get lost . No more diversionary self-pity. You are not kids so man up or take your tears elsewhere !!!!! You are getting exactly what you deserve for your non-stop and thread-derailing negativity. This your 'victim' antics is totally pathetic. Even the ladies here will feel sorry for you crybabies.

You can shout "Yoruba mob" all you want but that is only another confirmation of your bigotry and the fact you lot have no capacity for confronting what you do wrong and used to get away with 24/7 here till many proud Yorubas started accepting that enough is enough !!! Personally, I will advise all Yorubas to not join the intolerance and prejudice of others but to be ready to defend themselves and their ethnic group from prejudiced and intolerant folks who are indoctrinated to never talk about anything related to the SW with any objectivity whatsoever.

Even when there is no room or need for negativity, as is the case with this 100% private sector funded project which should be a source of pride for all Nigerians, you sad creatures are here yapping and saying things that would embarrass a child while talking of "objective criticism"!!!! What is objective about dictatorially, arrogantly and childishly seeking to tell the private sector what to put its money into and which infrastructure to build for you? What is objective about making a fuss over something that will not utilise a kobo of your money or that of Lagos State and which you have the option of avoiding if you dislike it that much? What is objective about the immature display of anger because the private sector chose to invest in a cable transport system and not a tram network? What objectivity can we attach to the words of someone who talks of Lagos and her Yoruba leaders negatively here 99% of his posts and lied wickedly Tinubu slumped and was seen bleeding from every orifice in his body? You people should confess your real problems and issues because you do not make sense to balanced folks

Mentioning Insincer9gerian and Beaf is another loss for you since the forum knows the 'focus' and 1diocy of those two. Beaf, like you sad elements, discussed the SW 24/7 negatively only to eventually unravel as a pathetically bigoted coward through his confession to the forum he was "scared" to talk of his native Delta State because everyone was armed. In other words, the coward feared attack if too critical of those in his native State failing his people, like the woeful Udaughan and many like him, yet he had no such fear savaging Aregbesola, Fashola, Tinubu et al daily because the entire Nigeria knows the Yoruba will join you criticising his own while others shield their own as if they are eggs. Is this not the same forum where those who savage Tinubu, Adenuga et al 24/7 mercilessly are praising Kalu hypocritically as a "saviour" of the SE? As for Insecure9gerian, he is just a clown who disgraces himself here by starting threads of ignorance, discrimination and prejudice against others daily. No surprise those unprincipled, disgraced, cowardly, intolerant and highly prejudiced sad cases are the 'idols' of a crybaby mischief-maker like you.

When we start to respect each other completely and people like you confront why others may be angry at what you say , as real and fair men can always do, then amiable and genuinely objective conversion can flow.
The usual vituperations and dare I say that I am not in the least bit surprised. This is what you have become synonymous with, one way traffic monolithic verbiage devoid of any substance but that of irrelevant praise singing. To get anything critical or balanced from you is like expecting water to come forth from a stone.

A sad journey, your life has become. It is a shame though because prior to becoming a shameless sycophant, you seemed to exhibit some promise but all that now has gone with the winds. Like abati, like Gbawe.

Sad low life dregs of the earth you are. You live by sycophancy and shall equally perish by it!

I have renewed hope that there are indeed intelligent non partisan individuals who can look at an issue and give critical analysis and unbiased response. I am glad also that you did not stoop to the lowly level of the Fashola's town criers. It is always refreshing to read a balanced view unlike this degenerative low lives who only see bullying as a way to ram their disjointed views down everyone's throat. I am utterly appalled by the gutter language employed to subdue any reasonable voice that counters their lies.

Thank you for your maturity and please do not feel overrun by these sycophants. Shame they do worse than they accuse the likes of Beaf and Sincer9igerian for. The are all as bad as each other and dare I say that these Yoruba mob is far worse!

mojeer678: They don't see anything. Just a bunch of wizened civil servants mandated to push Fashola and his merry band of officials' agenda of mesmerizing the unwashed with fancy graphics and paparazzi projects of dubious utility and redeeming social value.

There's no point in debating with anyone whose promotion is dependent on how forceful he/she can intimidate dissenting opinions into submission.

So you noticed how they change garbs and praise one another, common tactics in propaganda. It also shows signs of desperation. How many Nigerian newspapers carried the photographs of BRF with his crew and the british government representatives? The Guardian simply displayed him looking 'serious' with the deputy commissioner after the breakfast meeting. The fact that gbawe/agbameta/sloan et. al have between themselves published a whole album of a mere meeting shows where they're located/working from/where their paymasters reside.

In a free society, debates are encouraged and both sides gain from exchanging good ideas without any gutter language being employed or resorted to. You don't ram your own position on the others' throats without any meaningful content. A good idea will always give way to a better one.

Most of the best ideas I've read so far on this thread is for BRF and his team to obey the law of digestible portions. Bite only what you can chew. Lately, it's an open season of bite bite bite. As if the administration has eternity to stay in office. If that's the plan, we shall see.

As for the simplistic argument that it's not our money that's going to be used to build the cable cars, that's if they're built at all, we should just clam up & watch the investors do their thing. This submission is unacceptable.

We're all stakeholders in this State. We have a say in the way and manner our commonwealth and resources are managed. The State is not contributing a kobo, you claim while conveniently sidestepping that fact giving a company an exclusive franchise to operate for 30 years is more than ceding sovereignty to that company as same franchise can be converted to raw cash at any time at our expense.

The not so funny drama with the toll gates and Lekki roads sure leave a bitter taste in the mouth. At the end of the day, it's the average Lagosians who are short-changed. Who cannot master the art of dashing franchises to their cohorts? Who cannot grant no-bid contracts to friends? It's noteworthy that the Chairman of this cable car company was a one time Attorney-General of the State.

If it's the thinking that deals could be sealed in the twilight months of this administration that would bind future governments and which inevitable nullification would results into billions for the promoters, another think is required.

You can fool some people some of the time goes the adage. A king that does not know Joseph is coming and these charades would be exposed very soon.

As for these mouthpieces, you claim to be Yoruba and Lagosians and whoever would tell you the truth villagers who should return to wherever they come from, I've got news for you.

A Yoruba with a proper upbringing would not accept to be a mercenary, who will lie against the truth. You think you're doing your master's bidding but you're also despised by him, hence your being condemned to do the hatchet work of abusive posts and railing against those who have divergent views.

Ti a ba ran ni ni ise eru, a a fi t'omo je o
