the team was decent but the least expected to even make it to the semis let alone winning the competition

Stop been sentimental and face fact. All these na still to justify that de bruyne is better than zizou 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Prior to the World Cup 1998 French player that is world class was only Cantona. Dechamp was average at best at juve, it took zizou almost 2 seasons to start doing well at juve while desailly was just ok at Milan

If u like write thesis but all I started above is nothing but the truth
I don tire o…the same French team failed to qualify for 1990 and 1994 WC but made 1998 WC as host.

Zidane was not even the best player for France in that world cup. Left to Zidane, they would have gone home.

Ronaldo De Lima even played better than him in that game.

What do you mean?

French team were made of stars.

Was Lizarazu not a big star?

Deschamps had already won the champions league to the best of my knowledge.

Emmanuel Petit was already huge at Arsenal.

How could you make the French team then without being established.

You can say you did not know them but I knew them well.

Even the Monaco boys like Henry and Trezeguet were well established.

They did not need Zidane to excel. That was how good they were. They could drop the likes of Cantona and Ginola. Leave out Karembu and a host of big names from the starting line up and do well.

By the Euros, Zidane was playing with big names too.
Sir,the same France failed to qualify for 1990 and 1994 WC and came back as host in 1998.Nobody’ gave them the chance despite being host.French team without Zidane wouldn’t have won France 98 WC

More effective. It depends on what you want to use to rate better players. That Brazil vs France game is about flicks, dribbles, and artistic control.

De Bruyne, is about effective play and creating unbelievable chances for his team mates.

Finito.
Thar flicks, dribbles and artistic control saw Zidane scoring two goals in WC final.

Zidane could miss playing two full games and get a red card in another match in a tournament and still win the world cup. The French team were stellar. Give de Bruyne the likes of Lizarazu, Thuram, Petit, Dugarry and others and see him remake history.

Remember France could drop the likes of Cantona, Ginola. Vieira, Henry, Trezeguet, Ba, Lama on the bench. That was how stellar the French team was.
My man go and watch France vs Brazil again and tell me De Bruyne is better than Zidane.

Stop typing nonsense. How many other leagues have produced more different winners than Epl clubs in the champions league over the last ten years? How many other leagues have produced more finalists than Epl over the last ten years as well( Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester city and Chelsea). Epl produced two champions league finalists in 2018/2019 and 2020/2021. If not for Madrid carrying and saving La Liga in the champions league you will not be here typing nonsense.
EPL issue is like hating on iPhone but I keep on asking people but why always iphone….most players love coming to EPL but some would still tell me EPL is overrated…..**FACT about life when people talk about you in a mocking way then you are important.

Awoniyi had a brace yesterday,to some EPL is overhyped.Imagine telling me Haaland will find it hard to score 20 goals in Napoli team in Seria A that Ademola Lookman has 14 goals.Even Simmy Neamkwo had 20 goals in 2020-2021 season equaled Samuel Eto 2010-2011 record in Seria A.

I will not rate Osimehn cuz of his Napoli feat cuz he is born scorer that anytime any day in any top three leagues he would does it with ease.

I don't understand the point. Are you saying I did not watch Zidane?

I watched the very best of Zidane. Watched him for Juventus. Watched him for France.

How many here shouting Zidane even knew he was not key in the France 98 tourney?

The fact is that not here, including those in the sports section have not watched De Bruyne like me. I have watched about 99% of every match De Bruyne played for Manchester City.

He is insane.

When you people say you don't believe in stats, what you believe in? Graciousness, leg overs, and flicks of the ball.

The reason why you guys want to avoid stats, is because it clearly flaws your argument.
Oga yes you watched and you are still watching football.I hold you in high esteem here but anything related to Pep is the best to you.

De Bruyne is a player I like as a thorough Chelsea fan I was like what a hell with Mourinho not believing in De Bruyn.

My Oga stats or no stats De Bruyne would be happy seeing your comparisons with Zinedine Zidane.Hope to see him doing it for Belgium just like Zidane did for France then we can talk who is better.

You’re still believing Elumelu begged him. Begged him, yet bought %25 in Transcorp in one day. Yet Femi only bought a meager %5.

I’m not sure where your emotional ranting is coming from. But that not how stocks work. There are millions more of ordinary shares to be bought in the open market that both parties can mop up, problem is who has more liquidity..?

Definitely not Femi who’s already sold half his position in First bank since he became major shareholder.

Lastly, you cannot disrupt Nigeria stocks because it is capped by the SEC, once you become a major shareholder, you’re bound to disclose your holdings.

Which is what prompted Tony to put a final lid on Transcorp from holding %6 to %31 in one day. Man bought 5X what Femi wanted to “disrupt” Transcorp with according to you.🫢🤦🏾‍♂️

Man still has enough to take Firstbank from Femi if he wants to with N20B only.

Go check how much Heirs Holding is worth and how much liquidity Tony has via UBA. Otedola on the other hand is only a major shareholder in Firstbank, he doesn’t sit on the board of directors yet.
Sir when big men like Dangote,Adenuga,Otedola and Elumelu are at war, presidency wade in cuz they are mover of economy….what is going on behind the scene is not known to laymen like us…Fact can Elumelu fight dirty with Otedola?NO so in few days things would be settled

You are the ignorant one sir. Maybe you should always read the main thread before replying comments. If you go through the statement released by Otedola, you will know he is still pained by the betrayal of Elumelu.

He has no interest in usurping Elemulu at transcorp. It is just about unsettling the market; teaching Elumelu a little bit of lesson by checkmating him.

If the whole scenario is just as you ignorantly painted up there. Why then was Elumuluu settled? Why did he involved mutual friends to beg Otedola to let go. The move by Otedola was already unsettling the market, Elumelu was boxed, he had no option than to beg !

Exactly what otedola was hoping to achieve. It was more of a 'lesson' than 'business' .
APT….don’t mind some here na to Dey bring tribalism into discourse that everybody should learn from. It’s simple Elumelu is smart but Otedola is a business warrior who fight dirtying.I remembered how he finished Kano born House of rep member Farouk.

You stabbed yourself the moment you were unable to keep your mouth shut, in business, there's nothing like a brother or family, someone of your calibre should understand this better...

Well it isn't over yet, the best revenge you could get is to also outbid him in any business or shares he tops, not easy tho, alot of consultations, lobbying (most especially, relevant government personnel or agency), bribery (maybe), researchs, calculations, and huge investment will be done, cos you both will be playing powerful business chess ♟️ game, and the smartest wins all here...

Power tussles; Mr Elemelu is already ahead of you by mingling with the President - Select, you can still use the tribal card on him here, just like you know, the northerners will never leave their own person, but don't know if same can be said about the South West... To me, if Ote money knows how to play his game well and neat, I think it's high time to take advantage of ethnic sentiments via T\nubu to overtake the longest record holder of the richest person in Africa.... Dangoπe also used this same opportunity during the regime of B@baginda, Ab@cha, and Buh@ri... Even Ob@sanjo, cos Baba also danced to the tune of the northerners cos they were the decider of his election....

Now that Buh@ri had unknowingly put a slight friction in between the two tribes by trying to outsmart T\nubu in the just concluded elections, Yoruba, it's high time to overtake...

Go Ote$, your greatest challenge is Dangoπe refinery, but you can still win...
Trash cuz you brought up tribal into your comment.Oh Elumelu is ahead of Otedola?did you really know what happened in transcorp deal?NO,cuz if you knew then you will know that Elumelu is a learner….My man you don’t have any advice to give both Otedola and Elumelu and soon they will settle their differences just like Dangote and Otedola made up…..Sir everything is not about tribalism.

Manchester city is likely to win it's fifth league title in six years. They've failed to win the champions league once since the etihad takeover. If you are talking of most competitive we can talk of the serie a that has produced four different winners in four years. Osimhen also scored twice against leceister city two years ago. They were even comeback goals and leceister had a better defence than now.
I think you need to go by champions league performance from semi final to rate each league in the last ten years and I want to say EPL still number one and very competitive though Man city remains a team to beat…oh Seria A was damn too poor for some years back but this year we saw three Italian teams in quarter finals and now two in semi final which showed improvement…..mind you Napoli already crowned league champion but Man city still has Arsenal trailing closely and check out fierce battles in EPL last seven teams trying to survive relegation.
