Highly rated 1860 Munich 19 year old German-Nigerian defender Ohis Felix Uduokhai says his dream is to play for the senior national team of Germany.

Rumoured to as one of the players coach of the Nigeria senior national team Gernot Rohr is eyeing for a call up to the Nigeria team in the future, Uduokhai has revealed his intentions to progress through the youth ranks with Germany.

Already he has represented Germany at U19 and 20 levels and according to the centre back, he is focused on playing for the senior team in the future.

He made this known during an interview with Deutscher fussball-Bund picked up by Owngoalnigeria.com online editor.

DFB.de: The sporting success of the main character seems to be something that you and your team share. How are you feeling about how you have started the new year?

Uduokhai: We are of course very pleased to have started off with a win against Fürth. You never know how quickly you will get going after a time away and the result was positive for us.

DONT MISS ==> Vincent Enyeama Retirement Date Draws Near As Lille Line Up Replacement
DFB.de: New head coach Victor Pereira has installed a three-man defensive system. How are you adapting to the new setup?

Uduokhai: Even though we occasionally played with three or five at the back before the winter break, a new coach obviously brings new ideas. The first game of that is never easy and we worked very hard for it, and hopefully we will improve the smaller details as we continue.

DFB.de: So far you have played for both the U19 and U20 national teams. Do you see yourself featuring for the senior team?

Uduokhai: I am delighted with every call-up to the youth sides. It is a real honour for me. Every kid dreams of one day playing for the national team and it is an ambition I share.

DFB.de: Why do you wear the shirt number 17?

Uduokhair: I was looking for a number and it was free! Jerome Boateng wearing 17 had no bearing on my picking it. Despite that, I of course want to follow in the footsteps of the best defenders in the world and Boateng is excellent at opening up the play from deep, as is Ramos and before them Puyol. With them I see how much I can still learn.

DFB.de: Now, onto the DFB Cup. This competition must have quite the special significance for you?

Uduokhair: The game against Würzburg Kickers was my first in the starting eleven, which brought a lot of emotions together. The anticipation before the game, the game itself, the shootout, scoring my own kick and the team winning – I have nothing but positive memories of the DFB Cup.

I'd like to see Dessers in the team. I think, he offers a lot as a striker. Good build, fast and decent with both feet. He has not really been tested with better opposition though.

Let everyone compete for a place.
OK,well better players should come in and compete to avoid d era of Ogbeche,Uchebo,Sodje,Ameobi.

What was Awoniyi's performance like last year in Eredivise?

Pls tbaba i understand your point and forgiveness too.

My question is this are these guys better than Iheanacho, Ighalo, Nwakaeme, Kayode and Ideye coz what we need now are better players.

We keep attacking Onazi unnecessarily here. The whole team was jittery earlier in the match not just Onazi, even Balogun was exposed for his lack of pace on 2 occasions.

If you watch the Cameroon match in uyo again you will notice, we also did not start well but settled down as the game progressed. We ended up defeating them comfortably.

So forget, our improved performance in the second half was not down to anything special from Agu.
God bless u,honestly sometimes am always surprised with d way some always try to shield some players from blame.

Agu made us to have better 2nd half?u know that assertion is damn funny. This is a player that find it too difficult to replace Onazi perfectly.

At d break time coaches realized that d substitution was a vital mistake and Ndidi was instructed to play in front of him in d 2nd half to salvage d situation.

A radical coach would have remove him in d same 1st half, just too obvious he wasn't prepared for d match and it would have been worst if he continue in that position.

We should thank Alex Iwobi for good 2nd half performance, nothing more.He came into d game and brought d best out of our players, everything come into shape d moment Iwobi entered and good he had a goal that w be remember for life in d history of Nigeria football.

you make it sound as if he was troubled throughout the game. After his initial errors he adjusted and the defense settled. Leon is by no means perfect I'm sure he will be the first to admit that their are aspects of his game he can improve on but the facts of the matter is that he's still our best defender for now
Thank u,sometimes we analyze football as if it is ABC but is more than that

As a defender there are players that we always give u problem no matter how superb u are,i still remember how our own Victor Anichebe turned David Luiz to a school boy in one of d premierships match,do we now say David Luiz lacks it as a defender and Anichebe always an issue to David Luiz.

In US 94 we paraded very slow CBs in Okechuckwu and Nwanu but faster fullbacks in Eguavoen, Iroha and later Emenalo,so why noise on Balogun just coz of Zambia match.

Some even said age,d age that doesn't count against Algeria, Cameroon but suddenly that age was an issue against Zambia.

Thank u for saying Balogun remain d best defender we have for now.

Iwobi has his place right in the middle of the park-though Moses Simon can easily be pocketed. Mikel is always in the midfield. The headache is who plays between Onazi and Ndidi cos if Iwobi retains his touches by the World Cup he would make us flourish in the midfield with Mikel player deeper.
Rohr should just pick between Ndidi and Onazi, honestly good to have two of them in d squad meaning we are covered in DMF but it seem Rohr is okay having Ndidi and Onazi in his starting lineup..

In modern day football, Full backs over-lap a lot. So it is common sight seeing CBs covering for one LB or RB that overlapped out of position and could not recover quickly enough.

I think it is age related. Balogun is ageing.

This is a guy that had wonderful outings against Algeria, Cameroon in both legs even got nominated as d best CB in d last Africa XI world cup qualifying matches.

Oga, the WC is still 9months away, the European season is still young.

My point is we must recognise the fact that our attacking department is lagging.

If you say the attack does not need improvements no wahala. But I am sure Rohr has recognized this fact. How strikers will be invited for assessment from here onwards is left to Rohr and his crew to decide.
My man thank God we qualified coz it was d qualification that is given us avenue to discuss may be d team need players or not.

Truly it's left for Rohr to decide what he want not we,d team is taking shape and I know before WC we w have a good team.

One thing is cleared no mediocre in d guise that we need potent striker, after South Africa match we saw what happened how player like Aron Samuel came into the team. This is a player that's finding it difficult to make his team.

Good question.

But let me respond to the other parts of your comments first.

Those names you mentioned: Richard Owobokiri, Mike Obiku and Chris Ohenhen were no where near the qualities of Yekini, Amokachi and Siasia as at that 1993-94 period.

Efan Ekoku. That flop. With all the rantings then about how he was better than Yekini. Only for him to miss a simple tap in against Zaire at the Q/Final of the 1994 AFCON.

Can you compare the present qualities of Ighalo, Nwakaeme and Iheanacho even add Kayode to those of Yekini, Amokachi and Siasia of 94?

The era of Martins, Yakubu, Osaze, Utaka, Ike Uche was even better than this current strike force.
This is a challenge and we have to recognize and address it.

That is my point.

We are Nigeria. We are known for producing quality strikers. We have standards.

Now, to which striker is better than Ighalo and Iheanacho (even though i know the view from where you are coming from but let me answer straight) I am not saying outrightly that Tammy is better but he has a potential of doing better than Ighalo come June next year. This is a boy that has distinguished himself as a youth player for both club and country( England).
Sent on loan to Swansea by his parent club didn't waste time in ceasing a starting place, something even Iheanacho could not do.

Tammy's career is on the rise and if he continues playing for Swansea week in week out would have grown into a more matured goals poacher by next summer.

I hope Iheanacho's fortune improves at Leicester, but Ighalo I am not sure we'll see any improvements in his game from now to June next year.
My man am not comparing this team with any old super eagles teams.

My point is this do we have players to give Iheanacho, Ighalo a serious fight for a shirt at d moment.

Sure I know.

The think is I am not comfortable with Ighalo being our top striker in the WC.

He is not clinical enough.

And also Iheanacho is not getting the desired game time at Leicester.

We need a striker that is very active in a competitive league.
Oga icon4s u be boss here, pls i want u to tell us d striker now, agreed Nacho is warming bench,Ighalo not too clinical.

Pls let's go down to memory lane,Westerhoff era,we have Yekini,Amokachie, Siasia as d strikers but i can tell u they are not our best in Europe as at that time but d best in national team.

Hope u remember Richard Owubokiri in Boavista,d second best striker in d whole Europe but couldn't break into Eagles, Did u remember Mike Obiku in Feyenord,Chris Ohenhen in Compostela in LA liga.

These are in form player and superb strikers who are supposed to be in d team but Westerhoff believe National team was a different ball games and he stick to his team especially Samson Siasia who was finding it difficult in Europe.

Despite Efan Ekoku high profile with Norwich he find it difficult to break into XI,if I can remember Ekoku only had a game against Zaire.

My question is this where are d strikers that are better,if we can get them no issue, national team belongs to all players.

hahaha I remember those situations very well. If you followed my ratings and post match analysis you will notice I mentioned those. That so called half chance, the angle was also limited when the defender challenged. I won't call that a half chance really, and his choices were limited.
Many strikers would have either ballooned the ball like he did ,or the defender would have blocked. Special players though would have converted. Even if you want to call it a half chance, how could you really fault him. The one he scored against Cameroon, was that a clear chance?

The second, he would have had a decent chance to strike with his left foot, than delay.. Most of our players were under pressure to win. Even Rohr said this. Ighalo had a decent match all round.

Firstly I did not say Tammy is in blistering form. I said we need a striker that will be in blistering form going into the World cup.

Now comparing goals ratio of 3 in 9 and 1 and 3, mathematically they are the same. But football is no mathematics.

You know how difficult the EPL is and worst still playing for a lowly club like Swansea who typically against top oppositions play to avoid defeat rather than winning and hence not creating much scoring chances.

In the last 3 WC qualifiers we played 3 games: 2 home and 1 away. Scoring 6 goals. Yekini that I knew would have scored 3-4 of those goals. The Yakubu that I knew would have scored 2-3.

Look at those silly misses Ighalo had against Zambia.

Nigeria has a rich history of producing top strikers, Ighalo is far short of the standards we have always had .

Put Ighalo into this pool and be the judge: Yekini, Martins, Yakubu, Osaze, Utaka, Ike Uche.

Ighalo seems to have resumed on his goals drought. I hope he proves me wrong.

cc: Kog45
My man I got your point, pls where are d strikers that are better.

In your word until we see better player no replacements. Pls tell me a striker that is better than Iheanacho and Ighalo presently.

I am also not pleased with Ighalo's performance in that game.

1 goal in 3 matches is not acceptable for a top striker IMHO.

If we want to go really far in that world cup we need a very prolific number 9.

Tammy Abraham is in blistering form. Pinick needs to relaunch a bid for him.
It seems we are blowing d issue of this striker out of proportion.

I remember it was on this thread despite Nacho goal ratio, a lot said he was not a typical top 9 referring to Algeria match and later South Africa match.

Later d castigated Ighalo which i personally don't even rate was recalled back and had a great outing against Cameroon in both legs, though against Zambia he should have done better.

Now u said 1 goal in 3 matches is not ideal for a good striker, this is debatable coz we need to put a lot of things into consideration, what was his total contribution in those matches apart from goal scoring.

I can tell u his performance against Cameroon in both legs was spectacular, his first goal against Cameroon gave us a breakthrough and his dummy gave us 2nd goal scored by Mikel.

In Yaounde i can tell u Ighalo powerful play gave us d needed goal against Cameroon, pls go and watch Simeon Moses goal and u appreciate his contribution.

Pls we u drop Ighalo Odion for any striker against Zambia?also w Nacho perform better than Ighalo in that match?I have said i rate Nacho highly but for Rohr to drop Nacho to d bench he must have his reason.

Did u know it reached a stage Rohr doesn't reckon with Ighalo and Ideye again, against Algeria he prefer Nacho as top 9 than natural Ighalo and Ideye who had a good outing in Lusaka.

The same Rohr again now preferred Ighalo over Nacho due to South Africa match when Nacho had below per performance and i w not deceive u Rohr w be happy he made that decision coz he was able to get Nigeria a WC slot.

I w not deceive u i keep on wondering which striker w come in and upstaged Ighalo and Iheanacho, people talk about Nwakaeme and i keep on laughing, am not saying he is not good but does he better than Ighalo and Iheanacho

Boss u have been in football biz for so long, pls how many goals do we want from our striker in d WC?In most WC highest scorer sometimes scores 7 goals, 6 or 5 goals,so what do we expect from our striker even mighty Yekini had a goal in two world cup appearances.

Honestly what i expect from Rohr is simple,u have a striker in Nacho who has a very good goal ratio for Eagles, why not have a good formation that w suit him, may be play him behind your top 9 or play him as twin striker.

I don't see any reason for panicking our stats shows that we are not lacking in goals,11 goals in 5 matches with different scorers like Moses V,Iheanacho, Iwobi, Simeon,Ighalo, and a odd player when it comes to goal scoring Mikel meaning we are very potent.

I don't see any reason why we always castigate our strikers or do we want to go back to Yekini era when we always put our hope on him.

We should not repeat what happened in US 94 when Yekini went goal dry, thanks to Daniel Amokachie,Emma Amuneke,Finidi George,Samson Siasia that rose to d occasion.

A lot were saying Tammy, truly d guy is good but i cannot say is better than Nacho or Ighalo. We should take thing easy regards players invitations,i laugh when some people were saying Nwakaeme w be d answer, are we now saying Nwakaeme is better than Nacho or Ighalo.

It reach a point Aron Samuel was being considered, this is a guy that was not even making his club squad but find his way to national team at d expense of players like Oyekwuru and Kayode.

Hope u heard what Peter Crounch said recently, he said d era of traditional top 9 has gone, what we have now is modern day striker who read d game very well and move to spaces and even create chances for others to score.

Tired? That was in the first 30minutes, no?
I cannot in good faith fault Ighalo for that miss.
Thank u my brother, sometimes i keep on wondering did i watched another match.Am not Ighalo fan coz I don't normally rate him especially in eagles colour.

I prefer Nacho coz his goal rating is awesome in eagles but Rohr for now preferred Ighalo due to his formation, a top 9.

The big question is can Nacho do it as top 9 in Rohr formation? against Algeria and South Africa,he was pretty anonymous. It was his performance against South Africa that forced Rohr to call Ighalo, Nwakaeme, Aron Samuel meaning Rohr need a powerful striker.

Ighalo didn't disappoint against Cameroon in both legs, although some we argue that just a goal in three matches not good enough but we need to look at his over all contributions.A good goal in d first leg and his great contribution toward Simeon goal in d second leg,his input in d second leg was awesome.

Ighalo against Zambia had a nice game though he can do better,I don't see any reason to condemn him for the two misses, this are not clear chances and it must not warrant undue criticism unless those doing so have something hiding.

Another big question can Nacho have done better, well i w say in d first leg he does it just like Iwobi did it and did it again but we now have improved Zambia with different approach,so is a tough question to answer.

My cousin was taken out of d country to Italy for professional career at d age of 18 by Churchill Olishe.A friend went to Ajax trial courtesy d same Churchill Olishe in conjunction with Chris Eeseka at d age of 20 real age. These are d guys u w believe they are above 25.

My son is just 8 years old, taller than most 10 years old kids and play football better than his peers.

Am not saying we don't cheat but d way we exaggerate our players age is uncalled for.I can give countless examples.
