Fear God. Fluke to thrash Mali and beat Cote d'Ivoire, the favorites and the hottest talents in the competition.

By the way Keshi failed to qualify for one Nations Cup. Not two. The other was Oliseh that failed.
Thanks thegoodjoe, this is my problem with Nigerians we don't appreciate our own.

Keshi won Nations cup with a class, beating Cote d voire 2-1,Mali 4-1 wasn't an easy task and Burkina Faso 1-0,so nothing like fluke.

Clemens Westerhoff despite his 5 years sojourn in Nigeria with good and tested players in Tunisia 94 ,d team could only beat Cote d voire through penalties and in d final oh my God highly tense 2-1 against Zambia.

Samson Siasia silver winning 2008 Olympics team were not celebrated but Bonfrere Jo won Atlanta 96 with bunch of Super Eagles players like Uche Okechuckwu,Daniel Amokachie, Emma Amuneke,Sunday Olishe, Tijani Babangida,Victor Ikpeba,Taribo West,Kanu Nwankwo and was celebrated.

Siasia didn't have half of this talented players in 2008 Olympic but people refused to appreciate him even our sport administrators.

Keshi is an icon,a legend that Nigerians w never forget for his contributions to d growth of Nigeria football especially winning Afcon against all odds.

Park the bus against Algeria away? That defence collapsed completely. How Algeria weren't able to score still remains a mystery to me even at Lusaka against same Zambia. The defence is zero Slimani had a off day over the 2 legs even Bentaleb couldn't trap inside the 18 on several occasions.

Well they won't see wing play for sure cos Rohr must have Marshalled that out already just like Cameroon were unsuccessful with their wing play. Look at the match Zambia away and home to Algeria and tell me if they really packed any bus. Cos what I saw MF and defence collapsed completely over both legs and the stingy Algeria players who wanted self glory instead of square play.

Whoever will play our RB either of Shehu/Aina will need to be up and doing that Mwepu has got sprint to take on defenders and our LB should get complement from the MF cos of the pace of Fashion. But still I believe if we possess the MF their players upfront would just be spectators.
Zambia should thank their keeper for doing a yeoman job in both legs.

As u have said,d Zambia i watched against Algeria cannot beat Eagles, Algerians were just too wasteful, their defence just too open for easy penetration.

Omeruo is not even good enough for the standby list right now.

Don't suspect foul play when there is none. Who made move for Sarenren Bazee? Same person also made a move for another German-Nigerian --
I can't remember. We are only hearing of Tammy this Tammy not only because of his exploit in the Championship but he's moved to the Premier League. Added to that Pinnick has a personal relationship with the dad. I'm sure Rohr has he's eyes on those Germans. That's his circle. He knows what to do. Just because he is not loud mouthed like Pinnick don't mean he is not looking to win them over.
Besides, don't forget we made a move on Torunarigha earlier.
Truly not even on standby due to a slow start in d league,i wish he rediscover his form and fight for a place in d team.

Honestly seeing Felix Uduokhai in action, something tells me d guy w be a good bargain for Eagles ,hope Rohr do needful on d guy.

On Tournarigba Jordan i don't think NFF or Rohr have made any move except media speculations, though i read where is Dad Ojokojo Tournarigba said he prefer his son to play for Germany which is unfortunate coz Ojokojo was a thorough home bred that played in Nigeria local league and very popular with shooting star.

I don't know much about Irofa but I expect his Dad to have great influence on him being an ex international but nothing is coming from old Irofa

Kudos must be given to parents of Iwobi,Aina,Ebuhei, Ekong for having great influence on d their children not Irofa and Ojokojo who are home grown ex player and we are finding it difficult to have their son committing to Nigeria.

Are they ready? What's stopping them now? All the names you mentioned need to switch their allegiance first. After that we have to see what they can bring.. Not a short term solution to me. My point is you need your best alternatives in bench at all times. When those players you mentioned finally make the switch then we can talk about them fighting for the CB spot. For now, I'm stil waiting for you to mention names that can be IMMEDIATE alternatives.
Yea u are right about their switch but i don't think NFF are considering this guys like d way they are pursue Tammy.

I have watched Tosin since he was about 14 at Manchester City. He reads the game well but seems lightweight doesn't have the physicality to impose himself on the game. He has not been able to break into the first team and is indeed a long way off.

Add to that he has not been able to break into the England youth set up in recent times. I do not rate him highly. He desperately needs to go on loan as a matter of URGENCY. Otherwise he can easily stagnate.

Possibly one for the Future. However, if City release him I can see him dropping a few leagues down.
Thanks for d info

you comparing German league wit the Scottish league....is a gross injustice and loopsided...
even Dortmund and bayern levekersun will beat hell out of Celtic.

every ucl season...bayern do prove their worth and that their triumph in German league is no fluke
calling a young defender like Felix a bench warmer is surprising...a player who had played over 50% of his club football this season...
same way you downplayed ebuehi because he plays in the Dutch league...

mind you the acclaimed one of the best CB in Africa right now...Leon plies his trade in the German league...and doesn't get to play that much...but whenever he plays for Nigeria he shines like a milion stars...
going by your assertion Leon should be a Benjamin.

with all due respect sir...it seems you ignorant of the German football culture, something evident in all their groomed players

same league wit only only dominant champion...bayern and other average clubs..
Germany will build a formidable senior national team, under 23, under 20 and under 17 from and they will be unbeatable and have other nations for dinner even England...

go back to history both male and female football...
besides Brazil....Germany have one of the most robust history in football having won more trophies and appearing in more finals than any other european nation.

Felix don't need experience to get into the super eagles......with his potentials he is raring to go...we should go for him instead...
Agreed

You haven't answered the question, how many games has he played in the Bundesliga for his team
huh

Being in the Bundesliga as a first team player playing regular football is a world away from playing a few games and warming the bench. That's not the pedigree required for the SE.

Wolfsburg was almost relegated last season and are far from being a top club. The bottom section of the Bundesliga I will rate on par with the mid section of the Championship.

Bundesliga is rated 4th in Europe and I have watched quite a few German teams. Which I find to be almost a one team league with Bayern winning everything going almost year in year out. The gap between Bayern and it's closest rivals is considerable.

Unlike in the premiership you really cannot tell each year who can win it. You have almost 5/6 teams in contention every year. Wining the league consecutively or three years in a row is near impossible.

Bundesliga is close to Scotland premier league with Celtic running away with everything for the past few years. It's the performance of Bayern that pushes them up the European rankings.

That's why I can't really see Wolfsburg, Mainz and Augsberg beating Fulham, Derby and Middlesbrough.

It's in thar regard I consider the premiership the most competitive, the fastest and physically demanding intense league in the World.

The Bundesliga may contend technically speaking but that's about it. That's my view on the Bundesliga.

With this in mind why do you regard 20 year old youth player essentially who is inexperienced, untested and unproven a better option than Efe Ambrose.huh huh huh

Dominic Iorfa is fast strong but technically superior with regard to the SE he is not that comfortable on the ball. However, he probably is better than Omeruo who wasn't able to cut it in the championship with Middlesbrough.
Sir,pls what can u say about Tosin Adarabioyo coz i don't see people talk about him here.Abi is not considering Nigeria

experienced centre half that will sit on the bench...ryt?
do you think efe will like sit on the bench or rather act as back up to the current defenders.....?

you simply not sold on Felix reason because he plies his football in Germany and not in England...
had it been you've been following up the German league...you will know how well he has played this season and minutes he has to his belt.
I remember you once signalled Wolfsburg to be in same lane wit championship club....

let's leave that aside....the German league is miles ahead of the Scottish league...
Felix will offer more in the long run...for Nigeria...the goal is not just now but to build a formidable team that will make a mark in Qatar 2022...and beyond
rather than go for efe I will prefer we even go for illorfa
GBAM abi no be d same Efe again, very erratic as CB,back up for Ekong and Leon?

Rohr should just look for CB in d class of Balogun who can read d game very well.Felix Uduokhai should be considered coz is not easy to be a starter in German league especially as CB.

Am an apostle of experience but a lot forget that some players doesnt need any national team experience to break into d team.

Balogun came to national team through Keshi, his first match he got injured as RB when he came in d 2nd half but his first touch on d ball was a class, already ripe at that time.

I remember Onigbinde invited Danny Shittu prior to 2002 WC and played a friendly but later dropped,i told a friend that this guy was better than Efe Sodje even better than Joseph Enakhire as at then coz it was glaring.

Look at Ikeme case for instance,it was glaring that Ikeme should have in Eagles for long or do we say Ikeme need any experience to be in goal for national team.He doesn't need it,championship league already prepared d guy for any challenges.

My question is this why do we need to wait for this foreign born to reach d age of 28 plus before extending invitation to them, thanks for Rohr for changing this perspectives.

If Ekong can lay claim to shirt as CB in d Super Eagles then player like Felix Uduokhai,Jordan Tournarigba,Irofa are more ready, let give them d chance now not after 28 years of age.

Boss, the discussion was loooong and I sent in that comment around 12am? You can see I even ended the argument myself.

Back to Kanu, Mujitdha I pointed out that a legend need not score goals or even assist but his input in the team is all that matters. I can remember a game against Cameroon(can't remember the year) but we won 2-1 or so(okocha and Utaka), Utaka's goal came from a brilliant pass from Kanu that sent him clean through. Kanu is a legend, that he didn't score goals in the Afcon does not change that fact for me
Yea a true legend that gives hope to the hopeless that believe it's d end through his heart surgery operation and went on to become great.

Let's not pretend like we don't know why most people don't see Mikel as a Chelsea legend. I am not saying they are right or wrong but some perspective will do everyone alot of good.

For me, it was pitiful to watch a highly talented player like Mikel reduced to a role of a water carrier. He played with a lot of handbrakes, couldn't venture forward to express himself, he basically lumbered around in his own half, marking out players and providing an extra man for his team to pass the ball to and retain possession.
Look, let's be honest, this role is reserved for technically limited players like Roy Keane, Didier Deschamps and Dickson Etuhu. Mikel was too good a player to be reduced to a lumbering quater back.

If he had played the sort of role he played for Chelsea at the U20 world cup, nobody would have listed him as the better players of the tournament. Why wasn't Sani Keita rated next to Messi in 2005?

We can pretend like we don't know these, I see alot of people on this thread prefer quasi truths. Mikel at Chelsea became an object of mockery when he scored a one off goal off a corner kick against PsG.
The reaction to that goal should indicate what people expected of Mikel at Chelsea.

Yes, he could be a Chelsea legend but he never fulfilled the potential his talent deserved at Chelsea. That is the gospel truth.
What a nice write up,meaning Chelsea limited his ability as a player but still a Chelsea LEGEND despite d limitation.

Wow, I missed out on the Mikel legend argument cry

Anyway, as the VP of Mikel Avengers, I must drop my own points last last

7 REASONS WHY MIKEL IS A LEGEND

1. Mikel is a legend because there is NO way you will discuss Chelsea's UCL win without mentioning Mikel.... When they discuss who skinned a Barca player, who gave a vital pass, who made a vital tackle, Mikel will be mentioned. That is what makes one a legend

2. Mikel is a legend because Ndidi named him as his role model growing up....he didn't name JJ or Kanu, he named Mikel. Makings of a legend

3. Mikel is a legend because Leon Balogun mentioned him as one of his role models

4. Mikel is a legend because he was instrumental to players like Ola Aina playing for Nigeria

5. Mikel is a legend because he was the only top player that did not abandon the team during the Oliseh fracas that had Musa as captain

6. Mikel is a legend because with his maturity has come humility, which is why his SE team mates refer to him as ODOGWU and give him the utmost respect

7. Mikel is a legend because he has covered Nigeria and NFF's shame multiple times, he never complains of ill treatment, is it because him eye never see something for this team? No

So, I take God beg people wey no like Mikel, we are not asking for your like, but please, RESPECT the man enough not to drag his name through mud and laugh at his achievements.
My sister u are absolutely right, a player dropped 35k dollars to save a stranded team no be moimoi o.

I don't know may be there is any player playing or retired that as ever done this,i doubt it.

In those days if they don't pay for return tickets my sister na issue o,Big boss w tell any one who care to listen no show, Olishe w go extral mile insulting minister,no thanks to our corrupt football administrators anyway

What hapoened in d last Olympics regards Dream team can any football administrators try it in d era of Keshi, Olishe even Okocha and Kanu but Mikel shoulder d responsibility and telling d boys do not worry play for your future.

I don't know what some guys want from this guy, honestly sometimes am lost, some even pray for Nigeria downfall anytime they see this guy on field.Haba!

A club said this guy is part of our history that cannot be erased but some say no citing irrelevant points like he has never be rated by FiFA,pls what has this got to do with club legend.

Amokachie was in Liverpool recently to watch his former club Everton and he was given VIP treatment, showing him around Everton facilities and introduce him to all Everton players has one of d best forner Everton player coz they never forget his contributions during their prestigious FA Cup.If Amo taxi can be accorded this much respect and love, then Mikel is what?a mediocre? honestly people funny die.

John Fashanu said for Mikel to be at Chelsea for over 10years winning 4 FA cup,2 EPL,a prestigious champions league not to count league cup or community shield, he is a true legend,Fash said he won just FA cup with Wimbledon but till today he is a Wimbledon legend coz d wimbledon see all players that won d FA cup as legends. So what is FiFA biz with a club legend.

Icon4s has said it that there w also be an endless debate whether Mikel is a legend or not at Chelsea but it's simple d club proclamation should have settled this debate,d club said Mikel is a Chelsea legend,so why unnecessary arguments.

It's like going for interview or exam and u are asked is Mikel a Chelsea legend and u said No meaning exam failed coz d examiner already have his answer as YES due to club affirmatives

Safari we just need to ignore some arguments or debates coz they are baseless and uncalled for. This guy left Chelsea with a special bonus for being loyal and of recent Conte said d club missed Terry,Ivanovic,Mikel not for anything but their longevity in d club is a top notch which every player in d club must emulate.

Why do u keep bringing up Taiye Taiwo? Oya when was his last game with the super eagles? Efe Ambrose was a regular until Rohr came around and that was because he had a long spell without playing at celtic. Him and Leon Balogun were forming a strong partnership, remember they were the pair that we used to beat Cameroon 3 nil under Oliseh. Now that he is actually playing week in week out on a good team I don't see why he should not be considered when all u have in mind is Omeruo.
Oh Taiye Taiwo just to butress my point,I w be d last person to agitate for Taiwo return but i disagreed with your assertion that long absence of a player in d national team w determine his recall.

Hope u remember Mike Emenalo,he played last for Eagles in 1986 and made US 94 at d last minutes displacing Nduka Ugbade as a back up for Ben Iroha.

Yes i have Omeruo in mind coz he has done it before as CB more than Ambrose as CB in Eagles colour and already part of d team,i believe with little shake up in d league, him and Awaziem should able to complement Leo and Ekong unless we discovered a rear gem as CB.

Ambrose getting MOTM in lower Scottish league not a big deal and also a regular in Hilbernia don't fancy me.

I don't reckon with Scottish league,so i don't see his form in d league as a way for national recall.

My concerns is Awaziem making d grade and Omeruo getting his fitness back.
