Taliban: Mike Obi obviously brings in something extra even on his bad days. He has been a calming presence and the only source of creativity and vision we have in the midfield. Ighalo has done well but if he had played with the midfield we had against S.A., e no go see anything play. I pray we find someone who can fill Mikel's shoes soon in the midfield. Thank u my man |

goldfish80: Personally I don't want a repeat of France 98. If an under prepared Vincent turned up in Russia and embarrased himself, Nigerians will quickly forget they begged him to come back, just like France 98. Let The Similarly Between 98 And 2018 End With the number 8 Bros easy na,Let's talk on what we have against Cameroon first and forget about Enyeama issue but half fit Enyeama is far better than fully fit Akpeyi and Ezenwa or do u think is easy for African to be No 1 goalkeeper in any highly rated European league like French league for some seasons. All Enyeama need is to get a club in January and nothing more coz is glaring Akpeyi and Ezenwa can't do it,hope u remember Tanzania match how half fit Ikeme was forcrd to play at d expense of fully fit Akpeyi and Ezenwa. It is still a surprise that we can't find a good local based keeper better than Akpeyi and Ezenwa, honestly very funny and nauseating. It seems eagles technical team are try to hide something just like d way Keshi was using Agbim. I hope Ezenwa prove himself and imposed himself against Cameroon just like Enyeama did against England. |

"Ko sogbon to le da, ko si wa to le wu to le fi taye lorun o o o/2x"
human beings are the most complex creature and are hard to please.
Start Akpeyi-he is jittery Ezenwa-he is short, lacks confidence and not imposing. Play Alampasu-he is rookie. Recall Enyeama- he is old and passed it.
Abeg who then should we put between the sticks. May be we should go and rent De Gea or Courtois.
All we can do is to support anyone the coaching crew decides to field. U nailed it,also they are saying active Dele Aiyenugba or Ejide Austin too old for eagles recall despite serious crisis we have in goalkepping dept.As for me whether Ezenwa or Alampasu, beating Cameroon is non negotiable. |

Hope Akpeyi rise up to d occasion coz we don't need fumbling goalkeeper in this match and with new goalkeeper trainer,i believe psychologically there w be an improvement on d side of goalkeeping aspects |

Icon4s: Honestly I don't care about the outcome of that return leg in Yaoundé or Douala.
What we just need is those 3points in Uyo and they are 'realistically' out. How? Cameroun are on 2points, Nigeria on 6points, a win for us in Uyo and we go to 9points while they remain on 2 points with 3 matches to go. Even if they win in Cameroun we will still be 4points clear with just 2 games left. Although we still need to put an eye on the Zambia- Algeria clashes.
So as it stands the game in Uyo is more crucial to this tie than the one in Cameroon. But if Cameroon should get any form of result (GOD FORBID!) the tie in Cameroon becomes do or quench. 3 point na koko my man |

goldfish80: Every man is entitled to his opinion. Thankfully the manager in charge is of different opinion from yours after reviewing the game. He has since realised his mistakes and have been open to make adjustments by inviting battle hardened guys who will give us the result. You can keep talking about misplaced passes while Rohr does the right thing.
I don't understand why people see Aaron Samuel as solely a tough man striker. From what I've seen of Samuel during Keshi's reign, he was quite a skilful player who possessed outstanding technical abilities. I recall the scissors kick he nearly scored with in his debut match in Abuja. Against Congo, he showed his technical ability once more by taking on the Congolese defence and scored a beauty which drove the Congolese fans crazy. Even Anthony Nwakaeme have displayed speed, Skills and guts to take defences on in the Europa league. If he was all brawls without brains, he wouldn't have been the best player in Isreal for about 2 seasons now. There are lots of Brazilians and Argentines in the Israeli league. Skill for skill, Kelechi has nothing on Nwakaeme. Anyone in doubt should ask me to provide evidence. I don't think there is need for us to go back and be arguing may be Nacho can lead d attack or better than Nwakaeme or Aron Samuel but one thing is glaring we had a match against SA that was an eyes opener and w need to put our house in order. Truly Rohr is in charge and everything stop at his desk, for inviting Nwakaeme shows that he need some physical guy in d team and if w based it on skill,i don't think Nwakaeme w be picked ahead of even Kayode, also d late invitation of Aaron tells me Rohr want to match Cameroon physically and hope it pay at end of d day. I w not deceive u comparing Nwakaeme and Nacho is uncalled for coz for now Nacho is a player w cannot left out of d squad but hope Ighalo,Nwakaeme,Aaron can complement Nacho against Cameroon.Nacho statistics in eagles colours is a top notch and no coach w bench him. My hope is either Ighalo,Nwakaeme or Aaron, anyone picked among d trio should just do d needful but my fear is this can they pull d string coz this match is massive. As I said in my last post,i don't really rate Ighalo coz he hasn't prove himself in eagles colour despite d chances given to him,Nwakaeme i cannot say much,Rohr must have see something in him that warrant his invitation,i remembered Aaron during Keshi's reign,he showed good glimpses but can we say that now,his late call to replace injured Iwobi over Kayode shows that Rohr need physical guy as d arrow head against Cameroon. If w make it simple from d defence to midfield and to attack,Cameroon w definitely fall but believing physical presence of some guys in d team w do it then we are on a long thing. All we need is d chemistry and good combinations to rattle d lion.Honestly from d last squad that face SA,just d addition of Mikel,Moses,Leon and a front man(Ighalo,Nwakaeme, Aaron) that w free Nacho upfront, with this we are beating Cameroon. |

EEGA: There’s More To Cameroon Than Just Brute Strength completesportsnigeria.com Aug 28, 2017 11:16 AM The focus as the key Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers approach seems to be all on Cameroon’s physical attributes. Pretty much every Nigerian football expert who has spoken or written about the double header between the Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions has highlighted Cameroon’s power and the need for Nigeria to match them physically. But there is more to these current Lions than just their bulging muscles and ‘jam body’ football’. There’s a whole lot more. Of course, the Cameroonians are physical specimens to behold, bulging biceps peeking out of their too tight shirts and their intimidating six-packs straining against the tops. But, beyond their raw strength, these Cameroonians can play. Dem sabi football. They were not even remotely the favourites to win the last Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon but they defied the odds, in spite of a squad shorn of almost all their big-name stars, to win the continent’s biggest football trophy. And they did not rely on their much-vaunted physicality alone. The Lions AFCON team played vibrant, sometimes exhilarating football. They were quick, incisive, skilful, clinical. They had power, but it was not one of their chief attributes. They had a coach, the Belgian Hugo Broos, who trusted in youth and kept faith with the 21-year-old Fabrice Ondoa in goal along with several young players in key positions. They had searing pace down the flanks, especially in Christian Bassogog, the left-footed right winger who was voted Player of the Tournament. They had guile and aerial threat in attack in Vincent Aboubakar, who is extremely comfortable on the ball for one so big, and captain Benjamin Moukandjo. They also had composure and penetration in midfield in Sebastian Siani and Arnaud Djoum. Cameroon still have all these players – and Broos, of course – as well as all these qualities. So, the Super Eagles should be concerned about much more than the Lions’ power. How does Gernot Rohr deal with Bassogog’s electric pace? Can Elderson Echiejile stop the speedstar? Who will mark Aboubakar without giving away silly fouls in dangerous positions? Do Rohr and his men know if Cameroun are dangerous at set-pieces? How do the Eagles win the midfield battle? Should Rohr go with the combination of Mikel Obi and Ogenyi Onazi that offers experience and power but little else? Or should Oghenekaro Etebo be included for his direct running and eye for goal that can unsettle the Lions? What about Wilfred Ndidi and his calm approach? These are some of the things we should be worried about, other than just Cameroon’s raw power. ‘Power for power’ is not always the answer, even if we insist that Cameroon are all about brute strength (they are not). Not too many years ago, we all watched in awe as a Barcelona team made up mostly of magical gnomes ran rings around giants. Lionel Messi, Andrea Iniesta and Xavi standing on each other would probably not be taller than Rio Ferdinand alone, but it was Messi who scored a header against Rio and another giant centre-back Nemanja Vidic in the 2009 Champions League final. Messi did not need to outjump them or outmuscle them – he could not anyway. All he needed was the perfect delivery and to be clever in his movement to find space. That Barca side that won almost everything on offer between 2008 and 2012, and again between 2013 and 2015, showed that a team should most of the time play to its own strengths. The top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League is a wee fella up against Iroko tree-like defenders week in, week out but their superior power hasn’t stopped the MFM FC striker from scoring 17 goals. Mfon Udoh scored 23 in the same league in one season. He is not exactly a hulk too. By all means scout the opposition to know their strengths, but counter them by pitting your best attributes against theirs. If the Super Eagles’ best players are Victor Moses with his speed and dribbling skills, Kelechi Iheanacho with his clever movement and clinical finishing, and Moses Simon with his darting runs, then they should all start against Cameroon. We should not all be caught up in the ‘brute strength’ talk because Cameroon are much more than that. A team of lightweights with skills, guile, organisation and confidence will anyway be a match for a team of giants who only rely on their power to bully the opposition. Didn’t David defeat Goliath? David certainly didn’t have to have Terry Crews’ chest to win that battle. God bless u for this view.I keep on wondering why much emphasis on Physicality of Cameroon team which i believe should not be total yardsticks in calling player to camp. The late replacement for injured Iwobi,Aron Samuel gave me a gosh pimples,it tells me Rohr might not get it right which i don't pray for.If we cannot beat Cameroon with d likes of Victor Moses,Nacho,Etebo,Musa,Simeon,Mikel,Ndidi,Onazi,Leon,Ekong,Elderson and d rest then something is amiss, calling Nwakaeme, Aron Samuel coz of their size instead of their delivery is some how The invitation of Ighalo for this match gives me mis feelings coz he has not live upto his billing in d national team, though a lot might castigate Ideye but i believe d presence of Ideye w give Iheanacho a room to operate. Rohr not calling Kayode as a replacement for injured Iwobi shows that he want to build his team on physicality of Cameroon which i believe is unnecessary,is like giving Cameroon undue respect and psychologically added advantage. If player like Victor Moses,Etebo,Onazi,Leon,Ekong,Mikel,Ndidi cannot match Cameroon physically with their intelligent then w should forget d match. We lost d match against South Africa coz we got it wrong from d onset not that w don't have d players to do it,d presence of Mikel,Moses,Leon,Ikeme or a partner that w give Nacho chance to operate just like Ideye did against Zambia w have made d difference. I hope Rohr w find a good striker in either Ighalo which i don't rate,Nwakaeme which i can't say much about him or Aron Samuel which i w keep mum for now to raise their game and give Nacho and Moses room to cause d havoc. What we need against Cameroon is not brutality but a good formation that w gv us free flowing football, put d ball down with good passes then Cameroon are out, watching Cameroon in confederation cup tells me do it simple and Cameroon w fall but do it physically with them u are out. |

I remember u got it right on Awaziem but d guy had a bad day against SA,hope he bounce back and better coz age is on his side and Rohr already rate him than Omeruo meaning in d absence of Balogun,he is a sure starter. Secondly, Ndidi. He is a sure starter.
Ighalo not likely to start, Iheanacho is our first choice striker.
I like where you placed Etebo. In the absence of Iwobi, Etobo moves to the Left. I see an Ndidi- Onazi midfield pairing. Thumb up forgiveness and petrobros what a healthy arguments. |

Joebie: Two things here. Preference and expectation.. I'm sure that's his preferred starting. So arguments like Rohr won't do that should not necessarily come in if someone already indicated that's their starting line up. At the same time, sometimes there may be surprises. (e.g Awaziem versus SA) which will not always backfire. Hence, Aina is not expected to start (that's if he will be in camp/cleared by FIFA), but he could still start -- surpises. Jobie u always make it simple and accurate not some people who always show brotherhood love here by turning this thread to a war zone. |

Iheanacho should play 8 (he has never convinced me as a number 9 in an eagle's shirt) while Ighalo strikes It is likely Mikel and Onazi coz they have been doing it together for long and both are available for selection,on Ndidi is left for Rohr to decide but i believe his formation w absorbed Ndidi but anyhow am cool with Mikel and Onazi or Mikel and Ndidi. |

cromz: This thread is getting nasty day by day I see no reason why anyone should support any player based on tribal sentiments. Have we all forgotten the purpose of this thread is it not to support SE with our ideas and knowledge to ensure they are a better team. But now I see every body picking fights and arguing over some certain players. if the player you want is not invited you are not the coach Rohr knows the kind of players he needs for every game that's why he called up those he invited. Have seen several occasions where players who were clamoured for in this thread are later invited. Am pleading with you all to exercise patience. Please any post that does not positively contribute to the development of the SE should be removed. Tribalism and sentiments should not be allowed. No player should be favoured here. Arguments should not be based on sentiments, tribalism, or favouritism. Constructive criticism should be allowed but that does not mean we should fight or argue over any player or coach. Furthermore, I honestly think that Cameroon is overrated on this thread. You talk of Cameroon as if you are talking about Germany. I believe we would easily secure a win in uyo then maybe secure a draw away. Because looking it their team they don't have better players than we do I don't think any of their wingers is as skilful as Victor Moses or as pacy as Ahmed musa. We have better midfielders like Mikel obi,Ndidi and Etebo. The likes of Leon balogun, troost ekong,John ogu, and others can match them in physicality so I see no cause for alarm Victory all the way. Don't mind dem na craze dey worry everybody by Friday our eye go clear. All i want is total Victory whether na Igbo or hausa abi Yoruba full d team. |
