TheGoodJoe: Go and watch how many balls Awaziem won. I wonder if you know what damn terrible. The problem came when our defensive midfield guys pushed forward. It is very logical. Even Rio Ferdinand and Tony Adams will get overrun in that situation.
By half time, I warned about it. The gap was too much. Even Ekong had it rough and was not his usual composed self. We left too much gap.
Explain the experience spilling of the ball. Yea u are right,I wish Omeruo started today but after re watch Nigeria vs South Africa match in uyo were we are held to two two draw,i just changed my mind coz Omeruo was awful but one thing still baffling me why Awaziem a porto team B player in d d heart of Nigeria defence, honestly Rohr should stop all this rookies fast integration into national team. |

TheGoodJoe:
If Enyeama comes back, I will gladly welcome him. If not if Ikeme is fit, I will feel happy. If not, we should select the best and stop the tricks of this is more experienced. Most annoying is Alloy Agu shielding Akpeyi from screening in the name of preparing him with drills. Absolute thrash. Get them to camp early, drill pick the best two that will most likely start, select the best in training.
There is an art to this. If Agu does not know hi job as a keeper trainer, he should get the hell out. Another mishap from Oliseh's reign. I got your point d best should be picked but Akpeyi remain d best among d trio in camp so conceding two goals against South Africa doesn't mean is not better than Ezenwa and Alampasu.I remember Enyeama conceded two against South Africa In d same uyo stadium. I already agreed d guy is poor like other players in today's match but nailing him when we have poor midfield comprising d likes of Onazi and Ndidi not to talk of poor defenders. My man this is d time to face reality and we should stop based our analysis on preference for certain player. The Alloy Agu u are complaining about always picked Ikeme over Akpeyi My analysis on Dele Alampasu is simple,he need to show us is there already,a player finding it difficult to maintain NO 1 position in third division club in Portugal, honestly he should thank his star for being invited to national team. |

TheGoodJoe: I hope this is the last we see of Akpeyi. His footwork is delightful but his goal keeping skills is awful. He has no command of the eighteen yard box and the idea of him not training with the defence is atrocious. How will he have understanding with his team mates if he trains separately from them.
My biggest fear today was us paying for our decision of playing a weaker goal keeper due to his experience a devoted we paid dearly for it. No disrespect to Akpeyi but he is not just up to it. Yea d guy damn poor like other players coz losing with two goals at home not good pedigree for d team but d guy not to be blamed for d two goals but he can do better, hope Ikeme w be available against Cameroon or Enyeama rescind his retirement decision. |

I hope Mikel.Moses,Balogun,Ikeme w be available and Enyeama have a rethink and come back coz Cameroon match is damn too importan |

komekn: Failure is the precursor to Success.
So it's better we realise where we are instead of being delusional. Friendlies are indicative and not conclusive about progression.
Where did we go wrong
Before this match I asked the question is this team the best collection of players available to Nigeria certainly not.
Now possibly they will give Rohr the free hand to invite the best players. If Enyeama was in post we would not have conceded any of those goals. He would have screamed instructions to the last defender to open his eyes and stop ball watching.
Enyeama was in Uyo and nobody could say let's call him in. Unnecessary bad belle politics in the NFF. But Enyeama was in goal in d last match against South Africa and conceded two goals. |

terzurum5: Decision To Start Porto Awaziem Ahead Of Chelsea Omeruo In Eagles Starting XI Explained
https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/IMG_3002.jpg
As exclusively reported by Owngoalnigeria.com FC Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem will start ahead of Chelsea loanee Kenneth Omeruo in the heart of Nigeria’s defence alongside William Troost-Ekong.
Awaziem made his international debut for Nigeria against Togo last few days ago, but the 20 year old has gotten the nod to start ahead of Omeruo who has been a stalwart at the back for Nigeria since 2013.
Owngoalnigeria.com gathered the decision to start Awaziem was taken by Rohr in France as he did several drills with the defenders ahead of the South Africa game, Omeruo didn’t make it to their camp in France while Awaziem did.
The Porto man interpreted correctly the drills in the friendly game against Togo which Nigeria won 3- 0 , and during training in Uyo, he was once again at his best leaving the coach with no option than to hand him a start.
Furthermore Rohr believes South Africa forward Tokelo Rantie has a physiological edge over Omeruo after he literally destroyed the 24 year old few years ago in an AFCON qualifier at same venue.

But still surprised that Aluko did not smell National team again despite a great performance against South Africa. |

TheGoodJoe: As for the goalkeeping position, I am disappointed that we have not gotten the chance to test the keepers. Akpeyi seems shielded to me from his weakness becoming exposed in camp. From the test, Alampasu still came out top. That is why he gets my nod. Alampasu came out top? |

I think Enyeama made his break through with Shorunmu as the keeper trainer. Ejide was also in fine form under Shorunmu. Icon4s: Teslim Balogun was our first recognized player to play over seas. I still know of one George Chiedozie that was playing in England in the early 80s. I think I saw him play.
Keshi I think was among the first of the modern era. Samuel Okwaraji was also a foreign player as at 1988. Etim Esin too as at 1987. Yea u are right but d name is John Chiedozie, also an halfcast of 1980 nations cup squad Tunji Banjo who came all d way from England. Another great professional of Nigeria descent was Remi Moses of Manchester United(80-89) but couldn't represent Nigeria,Paul Ince learnt a lot from Remi Moses. I had always believed it is Stephen Keshi though.
CC; Icon4s, Komekn, etc My Man No o,Keshi was far ahead of Iorfa in professional stint, even Siasia,Egavoen,Yekini,Etim,Rufai ahead of him. When this guys are playing in Belgiun,Irofa was still in BCC lion of Gboko. Icon4s: Yes o my brother.
That Senegal 92 opener has my fondest memory of Keshi as a player.
That winner was a goal created by Keshi and scored by Keshi. For a defender to single handedly make his way pass the midfield and tore apart the defense and then releasing a thunderous shot. All just to redeem his image after letting Senegal equalise from I think Bukande.
I still remember the expression on his face as he celebrated that goal.
That jersey in the first pix I posted was what they wore in that tourney.
Then of course as a coach his team's heroics at the 2013 AFCON.
He is one of the greatest footballers and coaches that have emerged from Nigeria. Yea my man sweet memories.Keshi remained d best CB to come out of Nigeria, highest scoring Nigeria defender even than great Kanu Nwankwo when it comes to goal ratio. The strike against Senegal was damn fantastic,it was a good laid pass from Friday Ekpo that found Keshi in d box and he wasted no time in rocketing d ball into d net. Also Keshi thunderbolt strike against Angola in Luanda was damn too sweet.I remember Angola was leading with two goals but Ademola Adeshina cancelled one for Nigeria and Keshi made it 2-2 with a wonderful goal. Big boss remained one of d best player to come out of Africa especially Nigeria.Keshi was d first Nigerian to ever played in any European cup final Anderlecht vs Sampdoria though Anderlecht lost d match with two goal nothing courtesy of great Vialli. I remember young Keshi captained Nigeria at Afcon 84 at d age of 22 and did it so well to d admiralty of Muda Lawal who praised him as a young man with lion heart. Stephen Keshi was not d first to turn professional but d first professional that paved way for d influx of Nigerians to modern day professional in Europe and he was well respected for championing d cause of Nigeria players abroad especially our then mecca of football(Belgium) |

Oasis007: Some Dudes are quick at accusing Forgiveness of Nepotism, yet they are the Champions of it.
It wasn't wrong for Iheanacho to only be drilling without Competitive Football at the Club level, and still be making the SE List, but it's a Suicide to invite a Regular at a Club who often plays European Competition.
It's 100% WRONG to be comparing Osimhen with Kayode. is it because the former plays (on the Bench) for a German lowly Club?!
I enjoin some Dudes to revisit their Posts and objectively analyze it. They would know they are being Partial and ain't taking the Bull by its Horns.
Kayode has been prolific for 2 solid Years, he's even named the Best Player in the League this Season for God's sake!
I can't believe this is happening on this Thread. Someone should tell me where the Unity lies here in the Thread?!
Kayode honorably deserves the Call up. He's not lobbied into the Team by anyone, rather his performance on the Pitch speaks louder for him.
We can quick to sing-praise Onyekuru, but we shouldn't talk much of Kayode because he's plying his Trade in a lesser League in Europe?!
Someone even rated Israel League ahead of the Austria League simply to condemn Kayode's Achievements?! SMH!
This Thread needs to be fortified of Nepotism, and Objectivity should be given a limelight to SHINE. U nailed it my man. |

ChrisKels: Sir forgiveness, how come u couldn't broker a better deal for Abdul Ajagun? While others are stepping up, he is headed for a small team in Lokeren.
If Azubike's move to either Monaco or Besiktas comes to fruition, with Mathews imminent move to Anderletch (Belgium's biggest club) this transfer window, then ur boy would be on a long thing.
Modified ; I think Onazi should find a way outta Turkey or better yet, make a move to a bigger club(in the mould of Besiktas, Galatasaray, Fener) because the competition might make him a victim of this looming stampede. I said this because in Nigeria, we respect clubs more than the talent in clubs. If Esiti (poor man's wanyama), moves to PSG hmm...I doubt Onazi would still be getting invites playing for Trabzonspor Agreed but i remember Onazi had a great career with Lazio and have a good experience as a national team player,so what a fuss about Esiti moving to PSG. Honestly is good to play for bigger club but is not a guarantee for automatic shirt in d national team.Remember Owubokiri and Mike Obiku were painting Europe red with goals respectively with Boavista and Feyenord and Yekini was playing for Setubal in d Portuguese 2nd div. The same thing can be said of Godwin Okpara playing for PSG but find it so hard to play for Super Eagles. What of Victor Ikpeba doing it so well for Monaco but find Amuneke of Zamalek so difficult to bench or what do u have to say of Etebo of lowly Farense breaking into starting Eleven of Super Eagles or Tijani Babaginda of Roda Jc watching Finidi George then home based doing it perfectly well. |

Pls which report from camp.Honestly sometimes i do not understand how u always based your judgment on training or drilling before a player can be chosen. This is how you had endless arguments based on Iheanacho situation at man city, try to defend Guardiola on drilling of Nacho but d young man is wise enough to seek playing time elsewhere. Nobody is doubting Alampasu ability as a goalkeeper but for now Akpeyi,Ezenwa are ahead.I don't know for d future Alampasu might be No1 but for now or against South Africa Akpeyi w manned d post or else injury set in,even at that Ezenwa w be called upon and this already showed in Corsica and Togo friendly. Last last, if dem give us three, we give them six. I sha know they will struggle to penetrate our defense, even less trouble Akpeyi. They may not even make it past the midfield Pls stop arguing with anybody telling us Akpeyi is not good enough to man d post against south Africa |

We easily write off our talents and complain. I repeat, if Alampasu does better than the old brigade in camp, he is a better choice. Pls do w need to debate this again coz i remember we had a fruitful discussion on this and i believe it was settled. Alampasu whao a talented keeper but has he reach d pedigree to be number 1 for national team but based on his club performance i think he hasn't and no need to argue it. Akpeyi remain d sure bet due to Ikeme absence. He has d experience(South Africa,Egypt,Algeria,Senegal) i believe u don't want to hear but a good coach w never bench such a player for a young keeper who is still trying to find his feet.
