ChrisKels: I have always wanted him because I believe he has not been given a fair chance to prove his mettle, same as Akpoguma. Forget Akpogunma he already had 8 caps with zero convincing performance.Calvin Bassey came after him now solid member of the team.....agreed on Jordan Torunarigha not getting enough chances. |

ChrisKels: This is where Finidi showed, not just his cluelessness but that common trait with our egoistic 94 footballers who have turned coaches. How Tanimu and Awaziem made it ahead of Jordan Torunarigha beats still beats me, especially when there was no single natural left back in the team. This boy could have easily slotted in in that position or even played as a left CB while Chinedu Bassey takes the left back position. Yes Finidi messed up but Awaziem and Omeruo also made it ahead of Torunarigha under Peseiro. |

Meliforme: Let me give you some
Victor Osimhen He is currently the best Center Forward as it stands. He brings more than just skills.
Ademola Lookman He is an excellent forward and very complete in his roles as a forward player. He is one of our most creative outlets His form at the moment is scintillating.
Alex lwobi Excellent in stabilising plays, and one of our most creative outlets.
Chidera Ejuke He is very good at breaking down opposition. He brings stability and manages himself well in tight spaces. He is creatiive
Ola Aina Ola Aina has grown in leaps regarding what he can do defensively. His reading of the game and interpretation of spaces are now more mature.
Christantus Uche There is a certain dynamism to his game that we do not currently have. I can go on to spell them, but for paucity of time.
Kelechi Nwakali Until we find a worthy replacement or someone even better. He brings coordination and cohesion and provides a lot of options both in defense and attack.
There are more that I can mention, but there are certain uniquenesses that bear on the names on the list. I do not understand your stance on Nwakali....worthy replacement or someone better |

You're too obsessed with tackling everything I say about Dessers, that you can't even prevent yourself from displaying your obvious lack of intelligence. Next time, do you research before calling someone a liar.
N.B. When are you going to dump this your alternate moniker? You're not fooling anyone here. It's only dubious people/cowards who hide behind alternate monikers, and you're not even good at it. 😆 😄 Bro let it slide....his response already signified sorry for labeling you liar....I already responded on your behalf so no need for this....peace baba |

I am saying a well organized grassroot football development system is welcomed but when it is time to select the U17 preparatory squad, stick to the open screening.
If we are not doing it that way, don't worry yourself. Well, open screening or not a failed system will not produce future talents....NFF needs to gives us real grassroots developmental football programs that will laid a solid foundation for our under age teams.Appointments of under age coaches should be based on credibility not favoritism......good input bro. |

DABIGATRAN: Insecurity has always been a problem in Nigeria but people still go about their businesses including national youth service.
I agree with you about the litany of academies with talents from which we can choose from but you should remember that there are many talents out there who do not have access to those academies. There are young people in Oturkpo, Wukari, Afikpo, Iseyin, Kaltungo, etc who are not enrolled in those academies but who can afford to take a bus to the state capital for an open screening.
Our schools had good sporting facilities in the 60s to 80s. There were inter-school and inter-state tournaments but those are no longer the norm today unfortunately due to bad leadership.
Do not disregard small beginnings. Granted we have a small number of players who eventually made it to stardom but that number was still significant. No Nigerian was named APOTY for 23 years before Osimhen. Iheanacho played for an elite club like Manchester City straight from a ragtag team in Owerri. That really elevated the reckoning of our local talents.
There must not be 100 elite players in the senior national team for us to do well. Two or three players could inspire a stupendous football miracle. Good input... |

TheGoodJoe:
I just see this as an excuse. We have camped U17 successfully without incidences and it worked. Why fight a working and winning system?
What ever project brought to the table, when it is time for U17, do what worked. Back to back U17 titles is not beans. Sir,am talking about insecurities all over now...how would you feel if teens were kidnapped on their way to open screening. 4000 coming for open screening is archaic.....FIFA brought TDS and this can support what we produce through academies and youth league.I don't think winning under 17 is a must but discovering future talents.....2013 and 2015 combined have Osimhen, Iheanacho, Awoniyi, Chuckwueze,Ndidi who failed MRI,last season Success with Udinese,Uzoho, pls where are the rest with over 4000 that came for open screening. In the 80s-90s nothing like open screening but we won the maiden edition 85,finalist 89,banned from participating due age issue, after ban we won Japan 93 and 95 team was cool,we had meridian 97 team.We achieved this through good developmental programs. My view is this, without open screening we can still achieve it by following strictly organize grassroots football developments and mind you no more streets footballing like before, everything is now academies, even the local ones are attached to this school |

TheGoodJoe: Open screenings are not one day events. Some go as far as a week or more. The reports are there.
cc: Kog45 Yes not a day event but we have a scheme now that cater for this known as FIFA TDS (talent development scheme) is a scheme if utilized very will give us solid under 17 cuz it gives room for 12 -15 year old footballers......the issue with open screening is funds and security,no one cater for thousands.Present day Nigeria I don't see any responsible father that will allowed his son to travel for open screening that lacks hospitality |

BankyGee: He has 16 goals this season in 20 games, 10 are from open play, 6 are from penalties...
Wait till he equalizes the penalty goals to that of the open play goals, then we can ask for more open play goals, because 10 is greater than 6 Good that he is adding penalties to his goals chart but one thing is clear Osimhen next season running teytey from Gala.....no be him place but circumstances. |

https://soccernet.ng/2023/02/the-15-minutes-that-handed-victor-osimhen-a-life-changing-opportunity.html
Are you saying the over 4000 players were recommended?
I repeat, if we don't go back to open screening for U17, and even improve on it and make it even more thorough, with more time and even more zones. Until then, people should not worry themselves with our U17 programs.
Finito. Victor Osimhen came to camp with his agent yes or no. My point most of the players came in with recommendations and agents, yes it was open screening no doubt about it. I met Emma Amunike recently during my vacation.I led his Heartland team to Rotana hotel GRA Ilorin and had brief discussion with him on state of Nigeria football.I reminded him of 2013 and 2015 under 17 teams cuz i had the opportunity of watching their matches live in Nigeria and Dubai with my football agent brother a very close friend of Amunike. My question do we need open screening since we have football academies across the nation and also with Nigeria youth league and cup. In the 80s-90s we have well grounded structures where these players are picked from like YSFON, Principal cup,Manuwa Adebanjo cup and national sports festival |

elyte89: Do u think screening of players takes long time..if u are a good coach and u knw what u want..within 10mins of play ,u can make ur decision .let me cite an example
I was fortunate to be on a local pitch where screening exercise was going on.the white man and his crew looking for players were observing as usual .during d match , a guy (I knw very well in d hood) was substituted in to replace another player. He spent just 10mins on d pitch ,he created a beautiful assist with a long lobbing ball from d midfield to the striker and d striker scored.d guy was substituted immediately and told to sit out. Dt assist alone impressed everyone watching including the white man. He and other 3 players were picked 4 anoda trial in europe(France) . Coach Elyte forget it o....4000 players for which screening? |
