chukxie: It's good to hear from someone in the care home sector telling it as it is! Having done some travelling to obodo oyibo, I can confidently say Nigerians and black Africans in general are family oriented people. This is one characteristic we share with the Chinese, Japanese, Koreans etc. gbam eod. The one wia I write sef na small. I literally shed tears for one old woman. Him son lives close by but hardly visit. It's really a very bad way to grow old. Some stay indoors for years before they finally die |

TWoods: The Nigerian communities aren’t really as close knit as we claim. Here in the US, a large number of Americans live and work within a few miles of their extended family. Many have annual family get togethers and thanksgiving/Christmas holidays are strictly family time. That isn’t the case with Nigerians. Closeness isn’t what we have, it’s a tendency for chaos, being overly involved in the lives of our neighbors and restlessness. America is far more open minded an liberal than this colonial ppl. If na USA boss I nor for worry. See eh nothing gum did ppl na just a matter of time before their empire/economy is finally pronounced dead |

In Nigeria people do not wait for some special occasions to have a family gathering; we up and take the kids to visit uncles, aunts and cousins ...I grew up in a family where visiting family members or being visited by them was the norm. obembet: Good morning Nairalanders,
I work in a very reputable company and my salary is good at my age, I spent money alot on unnecessary things. A friend of mine always advice me to save because things might not be keep rossy like this in future which I don't pray for . So I think it's best for me to have a reserve because of raining days.
I always wish to have discipline account Which I will find it difficult to touch no matter the challenges, but all my calculations is not working, am not lucky when it come to all this akawo or Ajo ( daily contribution or cooperative savings), most of them always get issues when it come to my turn to collect. .
I don't know if it's village people or luck. This has make me lose money in all this Ponzi scheme, MBA etc.
There some insurance agent that do come to my office and introduce thier savings scheme which I love thier benefits ( Tax rebate and life cover. I will not die now in Jesus name) but what people say about getting money when it come to maturity do scared me. A friend of mine lose over 6M in cash craft ( they are not insurance ).
I have several bank account, I know savings in bank is good but I can always terminate my contract whenever I need money they because they don't have charges.
So all this has been given me serious issue and I want to start saving this year.
Can I pick savings plan with insurance or I should just go to the bank? Dm me asap let me give you a plan and policy you will forever remain thankful. 08030972730 |

Politics › Bandits, Terrorists Different From IPOB, Says El-rufai by koife(op): 6:19pm On Jul 02, 2021 |
The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said the way bandits and Boko Haram terrorists operate is different from that of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra led by Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking to BBC Pidgin, El-Rufai stated that bandits are not calling for the break up of Nigeria but are just carrying out their activities as a form of business.
He said unlike IPOB which is led by Nnamdi Kanu, bandits have no centralised leadership.
The governor said, “I was very happy (when Nnamdi Kanu was arrested) because, first he jumped bail, jeopardising his sureties.
“Secondly, a person that challenges the sovereignty and the authority of a state and incites violence; he refers to his own country as a zoo.
“This should be a message to all these separatists challenging the authority of the Nigerian State to be very careful.”
Asked if Boko Haram and bandits should be treated with the same swiftness that led to Kanu’s arrest, El-Rufai said, “No! No! No! No! People are comparing apples to oranges. |
