Politics › Re: Saraki Shuts Mouths Of Disagreeable Senators.. by koladebrainiac(m): 7:24pm On Jun 11, 2015 |
BeeBeeOoh: During the first plenary session of the eighth Senate Bukola Saraki ruled out of order those senators who dared to question the points of order in the Senate presidency election process.
Saraki rules out of order Marafa and Gemade during the very first plenary session of 8th NASS.
Senator Kabir Marafa, representing Zamfara state, and Senator Barnabas Gemade, representing Benue North-East, were both ruled out of order by Bukola Saraki during the first plenary session in the Senate.
Addressing the Senate, Senator Marafa told: “while I was away and a lot of other members of this Senate, especially of APC extraction attending a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, this Senate went ahead to commence the process of inauguration, thereby infringing on my rights and privileges as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by disenfranchising me and my colleagues from participating in the election of the Presiding Officers of this Senate.”
He added that “more strange is the news item that the Senate was inaugurated with 57 members and the 51 Senators-elect absent.”
However, he was abruptly interrupted by Saraki, who accused Marafa of being out of order, stating that “you must have previous discussion with the President of the Senate and … this did not happen. Based on that, I think I have to rule you out of order.”
Senator Barnabas Gemade of Benue North-East, who objected to the manner in which the Senate president had ruled Marafa out of order, describing it as as “abrupt and too casual“, was also ruled out of order by Bukola Saraki.
At the same time, Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje, representing Gombe Central and known to be one of Saraki’s supporters, commented on Marafa’s claims as follows: “what happened at the Senate during Saraki’s election was in compliance with the Constitution, … therefore, let it be on record that whoever decided to go for another meeting is on his own.”
Senator Bukola Saraki, the ex-governor of Kwara state and the senator representing Kwara Central, was elected as the new president of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria two days ago.
Senator Saraki saluted President Buhari for remaining ‘steadfast’ in his defence of the right of the National Assembly to choose its own leaders.
Reacting to Saraki’s election, Muhammadu Buhari simply said he “noted the outcome of the just-concluded election of leaders of the National Assembly."

You guys are not vast in ur sense of reasoning! where in the world would u see VP n President gather together to meet security n army chief at the same time? Jesus! So they should just round them up and take over the country? You guys lacks basic reasoning. Just because some hungry reporter sit in there room n cook up some news, you are here thinking in their direction. Flets: The true fact is that Lagos cannot be an investors haven with current inferior and lazy mindset of some yoruba folks residing in lagos as well as their oba.
You cannot want to retain the identity of communal lagos and still aspire to be the biggest economy in Africa.
One of the biggest threat to developing the true potentials of lagos are the recent outburst against foreigners (xenophobia). Investors will be careful about siting investments in a region where locals are exhibiting increasing hostilities.
Dangote and Ambode can try...... but the damage by the Oba will take a long time to clear.
Have you ever heard of outbursts from locals of New York, Paris, Berlin, Nairobi, London, Rome against other nationals or even foreigners?
Do you think the Queen Elizabeth will get away with what the Oba did? With recent events, Lagos might just be trekking backwards. have u ever heard an Igbo man claiming ownership of Newyork and all these cities? Besides xenophobia is everywhere-go to Japan as black man or as igboman,go to Newyork,Go to London as igboman and claim ownership of their land-they will congratulate u,anoint u, and even give you chieftaincy title. Bukola saraki is a desperate man. His eyes is set on the throne. Give him a clark office ,he will turn it around. He defeated his father . If he sees opportunity to overthrow buhari he won't hesitate use it. He is a man for himsef alone. I like his kind of person tho but he will be too powerful if he is senate president. cramjones: I read about the pay scale of bankers in Nigeria with deep and utter sadness. I haven't been able to sleep since I read the stories on Nairaland, for I have been deeply disturbed. Prior to these articles, I erroneously thought that entry level bankers earn nothing less than 120k, but I was very wrong! My nephew is banker, but he keeps asking me to send him money. I joke about it, albeit ignorantly, not knowing his pay is that of a slave.
Fellow Nigerians, granted we have over 50 million unemployed youths, nevertheless should we accept to be slaves in our own country? What will a young man full of life and energy do with 24k/month or $110 per month. I can remember many times I have spent such an amount one night on a family dinner. This is not fair and must be stopped! We must task the incoming administration to review our labor laws. It is unacceptable for a graduate working in a multibillion dollar coporation as a banker to earn less than $4/day.
Instead of trekking from pillar to post, do something about it! I would like to urge all youths to use the power of social media and spread the word. We must start that way. I will do my part by telling the C-in-C to tackle this slave labor head on. Not just the banks, but we must have enforcable laws that all employers of labor must abide to. Little wonder why Kelechi and Kayode are doing drugs in Indonesia. Little wonder why Ifeoma, Kabiru and Femi are drowning in the mediterranean trying to cross to Europe. We must put an end to modern day slavery, wickedness and greed!
You have all taken the right step by revealing it. Now make it popular and we will work on the one-on-one side. This must stop! entry level earns 120k, contract staff earns 20k or 18k

Twaci: Lolz! Bluetooth for real. Wonder why it is even called that. OP can u help? Ever wonder how the handy Bluetooth acquired its odd name? Not surprisingly, it had nothing to do with teeth or being blue. Rather, the name harkens back to Swedish telecommunication company Ericsson’s Viking heritage. Bluetooth creates a secure means of exchanging wireless data amongst several different devices. Pondering this service, its predominantly Scandinavian creators recalled the legend of Danish viking king Harald Blåtand. According to lore, Blåtand had an uncanny ability to bring people together in non-violent negotiations. His way with words and communication went so far as uniting Denmark and Norway as a single territory. The English translation of Blåtand - you guessed it – is blue-tooth. Jobs/Vacancies › Re: A Genius Answer To A Moral/Ethical Dilemma Asked In A Job Interview by koladebrainiac(m): 12:19pm On May 04, 2015 |
unyours: I decide to share this because i believe it will help someone someday.
Whenever we come through ethical dilemma, the chance is that everyone will choose the part that leads to the least harm. Most times, it's a function of ones ability to think [intelligently] outside the box.
Now here's a moral dilemma meant to be solved by 200 applicants in a job interview. You will be marveled when you see the answer the only successful candidate gave. Many wouldn't have reasoned in that line.
You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night. You pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for the bus:
1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
2. An old friend who once saved your life.
3. The perfect man (or woman) you have been dreaming about.
Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car?
Think before you continue reading. thats if your old friend knows how to drive _____________________________
This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.
You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first; or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect dream lover again.
The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer. I love this. I might actually use it sometime for an interview situation.
He simply answered: “I would give the car keys to my old friend, and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the woman of my dreams.”
Never forget to “Think Outside of the Box.” ____________________________________ My 50kobo advice to all jobseekers: Avoid giving a straight-up answer to interview questions no matter how straight-to-the-point the question is. Always have something to add to spice up your answers and be straight to the point as you do so. Expect all kind of useless questions. Lol. The interview that landed me my job was an interview i got most of what i will call off-point questions like: Are you married? What tribe will you like to marry from? Can you speak Yoruba language? What's your username on nairaland? (I shock!)
Wish you all goodluck
