it's more than enough if you're truly serious. A1 is basic beginner levl; not hard at all. you just need to learn
- the Nominative, Accusative and Dative case ( also learn the prepositions that goes with each case).
- Prasens (Present tense), Perfekt (simple perfect tense) and Praeteritum ( Simple Past tense)
- Memorise at least 500 words for your vocabulary. For nouns, please memorise with the article (der/die/das) , it makes things simpler. For verbs, memorise both the basic form and the past participle form (partizip II) and whether the past particle goes with 'haben' or'sein'(the basic rule is that 'sein' is for verbs that signify movement or change of state). For adjectives, just memorise the basic form but bear in mind that adjectives are also declinated (just like nouns) but adjective declination is A2/B1 level.
- It's good to know grammer rules but don't focus so much on them. Practice by writing and speaking (even if it's just to yourself).

thanks mate

Duolingo isn't that effective since you are an Anfänger. Know the basics first before using DUOLINGO.

I won't advice you to start using DUOLINGO because the audio on Duolingo is horrible and computer generated. Duolingo uses one voice, and it is almost impossible to understand as it is computer generated. In learning a language, you really need multiple voices or you're not going to develop language listening skills of any use.

That said, I think Duolingo can be great when used in conjunction with other applications, immersion, language learning classes and other language learning approaches

Ok my people...that is how i got another admission today with Fulda university to study International Health Science...im happy at the same time im not. reason because im to provide proof of German Proficiency B1 before october 14th which is not possible for me. Please guys advice a sister what will i do?

grin grin shocked the language requirement is clearly stated on their website and u still went ahead to apply thereby wasting your time and money, getting a B1 will take u about 6 months, which isn't possible looking at the time frame you've got left. hope u applied to other schools? you can differ your admission while you wait for the other options.

@Kolombo88 be very careful applying for AD without AL. Someone booked last week and was scheduled 6days from the date of her interview. What does that tell u? Maybe someone cancelled and it was given to the next person. If u are given such AD, what will u do?
Anyway the choice is yours. Good luck.
L

i get your point buddy, but on the flip side, waiting till AL drops mite mean not getting AD jst in time and then visa as well, which mite result in not joining up with winter semester

The week in which Uni-assist is sending the application to the school u will receive notification from Hochschulstart site becos the course is restricted one. During this time ur Uni-assist application status will be "Application will be forwarded to the university for further review". After 4 days u received Hochschulstart notification ur status on Uni-assist will change to "application sent to the university". Then after 2 days the university will check ur documents from their end to judge if it is valid or to reject. Once Hochschulstart notify u that ur application is valid that mean ur application is fine and it will take part in admission procedure.

Note that the deadline for application is July 15th so decision is likely to take place around end of July and first week of August (that is if u are not place on waiting list).

Best of luck!

Cheers!
hey mate, how many weeks did it take from when u applied before uni asist forwarded ur application to HTW Berlin, its being more than two weeks now since i applied online.

I used the enrolment date on my Admission letter which is the 16th of Sept. Here is the link https://nigeria.diplo.de/ng-en/service/appointment-lagos/1496884

thanks for the link. i only just applied for admission two weeks ago, and i am about booking with an imaginary date since admission will come by july/august, do you think this is safe

You canceled your initial booking 6 days before your interview date under Cat A. The rule is to cancel at least 7 days before your scheduled date. You've probably been banned for 2 to 6 months because I booked after you and I have a date. So I don't think Bsc applicants have anything to do with this.

could you please help me with the link to the embassy booking site? did u also use an imaginary enrollment date whilst booking for your appointment? as it appears enrollment date only comes with AL

If you booked an appointment prior to receive an admission letter/funding your blocked account, please please and please cancel the appointment. It’s 99% likely that you’d have to rebook the appointment. It’s always better to have all your documents ready before booking an appointment.

Just got off the phone with the embassy and most of you probably know how rude they can be over the phone, especially if you called for appointment enquiry. Anyway, I managed to get the lady to answer my questions.
1. About the category to apply for (all masters candidates should apply for A and all bachelors B). This is because of the confusion on this thread couple of days ago.

Like many of you, I also booked an appointment a day before funding my BA and had to cancel because of bank delays and the time it took for the transfer to reflect in my BA.

I guess we can book with the embassy at Abuja if lagos one is filled up hun?

2. Why has it taken almost a week and I’m yet to get a new date? Her response was “I think we’re fully booked for this period but you could wait and see if there’d be an opening which I highly doubt. Applicants are in the habit of taking up the space on the system, then cancel a few days before the scheduled appointment living us with little or no time to allocate the opening to another person. Most times people who desperately need appointments goes on to defer their admission because the system is fully booked.”

Guys in the name of God, let’s learn from this and help one another. Each time you book that next appointment without being absolutely sure (not by faith or hope) that you would make it, just know you might have ruined someone else’s chance to succeed. Please let’s desist from scheduling “too early to call appointments”

Ps: please cancel now if you are currently in this situation so that those who are ready will get an appointment. God bless us all

Hello Bro,

Uni-assist will forward ur application to the school if found qualified. But there an issue. Uni-assist sent my application to that school and the school rejected my application after some time. The reason for the rejection is "provide English language test". This school didn't accept EPL. Though I used undergraduate transcripts to apply for the course (International Business), but based on the response of the course coordinator an undergraduate of 60ECT is required to waive the English language test. Nevertheless, the 60ECT thing is not certain as you may be required to provide English language test.

I will advise anyone that want to apply to that school to apply with English language Test.

Cheers!

Hey bro, i actually provided an English language proficiency result alongside my application ( Pearson test of English, PTE) which is equivalent to IELTS which i sent to uni-assist, i also applied for Bsc international business. how long did it take after u submitted ur application before uni-assist sent it to the school and the rejection letter?
Travel / Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 6 by Kolombo88: 7:17pm On Jun 19, 2019
guys with regards to vpd, this is the message on uni assist site about the school i applied HTW Berlin:
What happens after uni-assist has forwarded the application?
uni-assist check the documents according to criteria set by HTW Berlin. They will inform you of the result in writing by e-mail and by post. If all criteria are met they can forward your application to the university. Afterwards your application will be further reviewed by the university. The HTW Berlin itself is responsible for informing on admission.

Do i still have to forward VPD to the school myself or uni assist will do that? as the schools deadline is 30th june and i only just applied on the 14th of june

It is generally recommended to have at least a basic command of the language before you leave Nigeria. Even if you will find a job that does require you to speak English, how will you navigate through the city where most inscriptions are in the German language?
So it's advisable. At least even if it's basic introduction, names of objects, places, letters and numbers, basic sentence composition and so on. Depending on prevailing factors, you might not need to attend a language school as these stuffs can be gotten from mobile apps.
Your employers may or may not ask for proof of proficiency in German. They'll only say they want you to be fluent in German.
You can start learning here and if you put your heart to it well, you'll improve steadily when you get there.

This is a post copied from honourableseyi, cc hadampson

Without the language, you can still hustle. However, the longtime goal for those that want to stay back should also be taken into consideration. Having the knowledge of the language is a big plus. Though some people are not in the environment where they can learn the language, thus making it cumbersome. Don't worry if you are in this category, you will get along. But for those that have the opportunity; please, try and learn it. The truth of the matter is; in Germany, there are jobs and there are jobs. People in Germany will understand better. Shalom

Adeolamikaay, I'm still in Nigeria o grin na this winter I wan go
thanks for this insightful piece. i actually intend attending some classes at goethe institute b4 i depart for the winter semester this year, because getting a job just in time will help relieve a lot of stress.
