bidexiii: Have you been to the northern states before ? Now the north east has terrains that you can see beyond 5k. If you keep looking you might just get blind because of the sun rays. Also Borno state has a very flat terrain especially the Baga/lake chad region. I love Yobe with his flat/undulating red sand, it’s a sight to behold. Pictures are Tulo Tulo Desert in yobe state. Absolutely amazing very picturesque. I have been describing the terrain as Sahel savanna from the views l have had. That's more like Sahara than Sahel savanna. It makes the questions raised more of a conundrum. A Vickers MBT tank has near 3 meters elevation. That will give it in that terrain clear vision in excess of 5km. Blast radius of a 105mm is about 35 metres ➕. So many things seem very wrong |

Tobiloba2407: I said it earlier....lack of confidence in their ability and equipment....then lack of situational awareness No matter the level of training and equipment bravery and courage is the salt needed to complete the soup. On the other hand doubt, fear and cowardice will turn all training and equipment to become USELESS. This is the very sad truth. When General Adeniyi was held down with three Battalions by Boko. A video was released, he said something that gives a very indepth insight into the prevalent mood of the average NA combatant, l want to quote him verbatim. "We have not run,the soldiers are not misbehaving or disobeying orders" the term nobody is running was used about 3/4 times in that very short clip. That tells us that soldiers running is a common phenomenon not an exception. The next question l have which l believe those who are more familiar with NA can answer, which is WHY. ❓ |

Why you go call all those player and you no call mertens ? Anyway if he is joining napoli then i hope Milik is leaving , there are many competitions up front in napoli also When it comes to transfer time you hear a lot of speculation and media claims and in the end sometimes the player doesn't even get one offer. Recruitment teams don't just look at goals they will analyse hours of video footage. They will be looking at you live as well. But at anyone time they club can be looking at 100 different players. Questions will be asked can he fit in with the current team philosophy and strategy. But the players also have to be honest with themselves and ask themselves the same question. Who will they put in a serious bid for❓ Lots of considerations and other influences. Sometimes the number of offers you get is reflection of how you are seen or a very unreasonable price tag placed on you. |

benji93: You should actually be able to comment on something you find misleading, partly incorrect, or inadequate. If someone writes a piece praising one player, you can post a comment critiquing that player's lack or inadequacies, perhaps in the spirit of reaching a more objective assessment of the player's skill, talent e.t.c. The only problem on public platforms such as this is that we are usually unable to keep our discussions reasonable. I was very succinct with Isaac Success giving my rational that led to my tag on him " Waste Man" and of course many found that hard to swallow. I am aware that most are fans and allude more to the fanatical than the reasonable. However, you can be a fan and still be objective. One if the key issues of contention is this unnecessary and irrational preoccupation with past youthful glories. And using it determine competence future and present. |

Tobiloba2407: Thank versus technical....a modern tank with modern fire control would destroy 5 to 6 technicals in 60 seconds, trust me if the bht loose that many vehicles in so short a time they will turn around or halt their advance....a mbt is even more effective at destroying technicals than atgms..... tank guns are even more effective than atgms....because tanks guns are faster and more accurate. .....if a atgms crew and a tank sight each other, the tank would win, the problem with our tanks in the north east is lack of situational awareness, and the crews are gotten by surprise and run away, also lack of practical training, actually shooting moving targets either actual shooting range or realistic software, so even the tank crew don't have confidence in their ability, if they can't hit technicals how do they hit tanks, against popular belief, tanks are very very fast, compared to wheeled vehicles off road.
You don't even need sabot rounds, any kind of round with high explosive warhead would do the job Agreed without question ❓ ❓ ❓ What l am baffled about is how then did our NA guys completely BOTTLE IT at Monguno. Baba dey use us catch cruise.. The old rickety pick up trucks even with thier 4X4 will not out run a Vickers mk3 MBT or even our old basic T-72s. When it they are off road. In reality using the T-72 125mm gun or the 105mm on the Vickers on a gun truck. Is essentially over kill. And I don't know the fire control system of the T-72 there are so many variants as well as modifications. But all the tanks will have near 100% accuracy at 2km. They all have 12.7 mm guns that will destroy the engine block and the soft skin pick up, will be toast. But it means that one tank with a proficient crew can on its own engage 10 gun trucks very easily. It's not particularly outstanding or complicated just basic understanding. |

Am not sure drones and reconnaissance aircrafts were in existence then That's not exactly true particularly with ground assets. There has not been dramatic change. First most ground assets can be upgraded and modernised to meet current standards. But in reality there has not been huge changes. With regards to ECOMOG that started in the 1990's to the early millennium. What has probably changed is advent of the MRAP and precision weaponry attached to armoured fighting vehicles and other armoured vehicle platforms. |

Jimi24:
Why do you guys subject us to these kinds of BS? You are posting rubbish and you think you are making a point.
Do you know how tanks work?. How easy are they to use against fast moving insurgents who move very close to your positions. Have you studied the vegetation and terrain?. You think it is desert?. No it usually is not. There are sparse forests, 6ft high sahel savanna shrubs, winding roads, hills and valleys. The enemy has suicide bombers, the enemy holds civilians as human shields. The enemy sometimes disguises as Nigerian Army soldiers just to get close. To load a tank, fire and reload is at least 10secs, how does that help when the terrorists dismount quickly, hide and start firing RPGs?
There are so many interesting dynamics to fighting insurgents that absurd simplification should never be made.
The Nigerian Army is buying new, ultra modern, high grade hardware but the focus is far more than Boko Haram No he is not making a nonsensical proposition. In Monguno there was one MK 3 Vickers MBT which has a fairly modern, fire control system, a laser range finder and it's 105mm gun is stabilised it can shoot on the move. It's tracked and over the rough terrain it is probably faster than a rickety gun truck, which it can easily run over and squash. The terrain is Sahel savanna, the Vickers MBT has higher (3 meters) elevation and obvious night and day magnification as well as thermal sights. That means all round spatial situational awareness. It's fire rate albeit it is manual loaded is about 10-15 rpm. It's range is 5km at 2km you are talking 100% accuracy. It has a coaxial mg as well as a 12.7 mm HMG on the turret. It's armour will protect from Rpg7's and HMG fire. Essentially what that means that one Vickers tank has the capacity to take out 20 gun trucks and chase them down, a HE 105mm will turn a gun truck to mince meat. So if used tactically on the move with right positioning it should be able to take out 10 gun trucks in 10 minutes or less. And clear out any foot soldiers with it's machine guns. Boko have nothing to contend with the Vickers MBT. Even if they attempted to use a SVBIED it will not be able to get close enough before being blown away. Using the Monguno situation it should give you in the hands of trained operatives overriding advantage. And if you are talking Sahel savanna then the MBT wins every time. When you add supporting troops and other armoured assets Boko can not contend. |

FieldMarshall06: With all the loss of lives and livelihood, which I regret.... I can say that Boko Haram has been a "blessing in disguise" for the army....
Many improvements have been made in the last 10 years, that would not have happened without Boko Haram...
The army has grown from 5 divisions to 8 divisions, each having full compliments of fighting and support elements. The 8 div structure also decreased the AoR for each division and makes fighting and planning easier.. Size of the army has grown, trainning curriculum expanded massively, new skills being learned by the services and used on the frontlines, etc.
Also many weapons are in the pipeline, some silently ordered and awaiting delivery, across the three services. The MoD is on shopping spree, and the navy and army are smiling well. Even the air force too... is happier..
thanks to Boko Haram awakening. As for the deaths,,,, well greatness don't come easy. Sorry tho. Putting aside the term improvement. Can l ask has the manpower of the NA increased over the past decades. |

FieldMarshall06: Use $5million each VT-4 tanks against Boko Haram.. ..... and the new anti-tank weapons for boko haram ba ?
So, what do we use when proper war comes
I am a baby I swear. In fact, am back to observer.
The army should use all T-55, Vikers, etc.... all old weapons against these bastard terrorists.... Even at that, all old tanks cannot be pulled from across the country to the NE because the army must maintain readiness in men and armoury across all sections of the country.
Please, let officers think for us. That is their job, they are experts and know better.
And the new weapons are the armoury of the future... I guess. Not for ragtag bandits. The bold is extreme retrogressive thinking it's a an assumptive proposition. Maybe it is tenable to you. But definitely not too me. To measure incompetence you must have some knowledge based competencies and vice versa. So by what unit of measurement did you make that proposition. |
