I was wondering why did these talents fall along the way?

At 78, Okowa hails IBB for creating Delta state

Delta Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has congratulated former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, as he clocks 78 years on Aug. 17.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, on Friday in Asaba, the governor said that Babangida was an elder statesman whose commitment to the unity and indivisibility of the country remained resolute.

He extolled the former Nigerian leader for his leadership qualities, and acknowledged his role in the creation of Delta as a state and for remaining an elder statesman and rallying point since leaving office in 1993.

Okowa said that the people of Delta remained eternally grateful to him for the creation of the state in 1991.

“You created Delta in 1991 and as we celebrate the 28th anniversary of the creation of our dear state, we remember your astute and sagacious contributions towards the realisation of our dream.

“You had an illustrious military career which culminated in your becoming military president of the country.

``As a national icon and statesman, you occupy a special place in the hearts of the government and people of Delta, because without your benevolent act, perhaps Deltans would have still been agitating for their own state.

“So, on behalf of my family, the government and people of the state, I heartily congratulate you, our great leader and elder statesman, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on your 78th birth anniversary.

“As a distinguished patriot and leader, you served the nation diligently in your quest to keep the unity and diversity of our beloved country.

"As you continue to age gracefully, we thank you for your kind contributions to nation-building, particularly for the creation of our dear state, Delta.

"It is my prayer that the good Lord will continue to uphold and guide you in all your future endeavours," he stated.

siasia's case was even a bit better. winning the afcon turned keshi to a demi god with monstrous ego which made him to feel untouchable.i was telling my close friends then that keshi's atrocities will come back to hit our football hard but they were all blinded by the afcon triumph.


many didn't know that pinnick was a God sent who rescued our football from the hands of a dictator and corrupt fellow.

I hold nothing against keshi but wasn't and will never be among those who were blinded by his short lived success with the team.

coming to siasia's case i stopped to take him serious when he couldn't secure a job in the continent or even with a local club but hangs around and lobby for the senior team job or that of the u23. he failed to build on the success he made since getting to the finals of the u20 world cup and olympics in the space of 3 years which boasted his CV.

our local coaches are not serious and very corrupt as well

Nwakali is an immensely talented player that was called up for the B team to play Atletico Madrid, there is nothing wrong with that

no one is perfect in any profession. great tacticians like fergie,wenger,ancelotti,robson,capello,lippi,trapatoni just to name a few were prone to mistakes.

rohr is never the best for the team but all i appreciate about his is the work he has done so far when he took over. our beloved super eagles was in a mess and ranked 66th in the world and a laughing stock in the whole of africa but today the reverse is the case.

even if rohr leaves his post today i will forever appreciate the good work he did. his impact is evident and positive as well. winning laurels is not the only parameter to determine how successful a team is but i am confident that in due time the trophies will come with the present foundation the team is laid on now.

Your analysis of Osimhen and Chukwueze always seems unbalanced. You give several excuses for the failures of Onyedimma and Iorfa but fail to extend same to these players who are doing much better.

Even your comparison between Okereke and Osimhen lacked balance because you barely gave Osimhen credit when he was scoring in Belgium.

Nwakali's saving grace is he's a DLP which we sorely need in the team.
But we can easily offset that with good ball playing defenders to cater to the abundance of CMs we have.

its not been older but who had a better platform to excel between the duo? from non league football to playing for one of the traditional teams in British and Scottish football,competing in Europe competition(uel) in the space of 5 years

then other won the golden ball at the u17s moved to arsenal,out on loan several times and now at the verge of being released by arsenal

How is 10 goals and 10 assists in 27 games as a wing player not impressive .?? Unless you are messi or ronaldo. Those are great numbers.

Nwakaeme is not my top choice but i would not mind him getting another chance as a wing player.

last term have been his most prolific season since he turned professional which is evident that he is working hard to get better, have already scored few goals in his team's preseason games with a goal also against ajax in the ucl qualifiers and currently poak's top striker so all this shows he his doing something right to get better. let's wait until the season ends.
