Talk about overpriced At the time Ibe was an outstanding young player and doing exceptional things for Liverpool albeit he didn't score many goals. Not over priced at the time. Solanke move is baffling to me not the move but the price. . |

TheGoodJoe: Actually, I disagree with the comparison between Chukwueze and Mahrez. The challenge Mahrez is facing is that he does not play with pace, which has been instrumental in the success of Sterling and Bernardo Silva. To a less extent, Leroy Sane.
Pace is what Chukwueze has and if Pep refines other parts of his game, we would have a monster. To play in the Man city front line does not require the basic pace. But blistering super pace. Mahrez is not slow and he adds superlative skill and technical ability but blistering pace not exactly. Chukwueze is an exceptional player pace he has but super blistering pace is not an attribute l would say he has. That's in comparison to Sane, Raheem, Gabriel in City line up. |

DrLikita12: I am a student so I probably have more questions than answers but I know three things (that we probably all know): One is that stunting affects the height a child will eventually grow to and nutrition is a major factor in stunted growth. We have a higher percentage of stunted children in Nigeria than in Guinea and Senegal so it could be that children in Nigeria are less likely to develop to their full height than children in these other countries. If that is the case, then you can expect that at the U17 level our boys will be shorter than their counterparts from these countries. This link shows the percentage of stunted children (U5) in different countries; you can take a look if you are interested (the most recent data was obtained in 2016): https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.STA.STNT.ZS?locations=GN-NG-AT-IE-SN-CM-CA. I don't know when the data in this link was obtained but the trend is similar: https://www.unicef.org/pon00/leaguetos1.htm
Secondly, MRI is a good tool to prevent age cheating but it is not perfect. It varies from person to person and it is not 100% accurate (I can't say that our boys keep getting screened out while Cameroonian boys don't, that's just silly) But it's important to remember that once in a while an overaged kid will "pass" the MRI scan and a boy who is just shy of 16 may even fail it. Do diet and environment affect when our wrist bones fuse? Maybe, but I have no sources. This article here says that in an MRI scan of a group of Ghanaian boys there was little correlation between their actual ages and the "MRI determined" ages, but the second article says that there was "moderate correlation" in a group of Egyptian boys so it probably varies, on some level, between races. Does it vary between ethnic groups of the same race? I don't know but I think it might. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/dear-fifa-there-is-no-scientific-test-to-prevent-age-fraud/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0378603X1730219X
Finally, genetics may play a role. I don't have reliable data so I do not know the average height of Africans in various African countries but maybe we are a 'shorter' country. Someone once mentioned that Nigerians are shorter than some West Africans, I'm not sure. I know there are some Africans that are much taller than us but I didn't think there was that much difference between West Africans...not that I've noticed anyway. From now on though, I'll be sure to keep an eye out I talked about this in depth many moons ago. If you have stunted growth due to poor nutrition it will take longer for your bones to fuse. For example you could be 19 and pass the MRI scan because none fusion will not have taken place. Another issue is the baseline data used to make the deductions. I know that Fifa did not use aggregate data that's reflective of West African genetics and our differing disposition. All of these units can be affected dramatically by environmental factors as well as the state of health, etc. Now up come to the other issue our penchant for sharp practices. If thier is a way to circumvente the process and or corrupt it. Particularly if there is something to be gained monetary speaking. |

chrisooblog: i think it's the height of extreme prejudice to declare that osimhen couldn't cut it at wolfsburg. a lot of factors eg. injuries, lack of a steady manager, adjustment time etc added to his inability to hit the ground running. remember this is an african kid with no formal football training compared to his mates in europe being thrown into the deep end and asked to swim. if his mates like solanke who have always had access to world class facilities are struggling to perform i will most definitely cut an osimhen who just moved to europe 3 years ago some slack.
whether it's brugge or somewhere else the fact of the matter is that victor is doing well. onyekuru played for relegation candidates eupen his excellent performances for them got him a move to everton. likewise victor's good performances have also attracted suitors ac milan and co have shown interest meaning he's doing something well.
is he the best young forward in europe maybe not but has done enough to generate interest? most definitely What on earth has Solanke got to do with thus discussion ❓ He doesn't play for Nigeria probably never will. So what relevance is Solanke here. In football extenuating circumstances are NO EXCUSE, your personal circumstances and or deficiencies don't change your season. Putting in top class outstanding performances does. All players generate interest but until the contract is signed sealed and delivered interest in this context is just wind and fresh air. If a club wants you they pay to get you, it's very SIMPLE. Victor is doing well but so are hundreds of other players just like him. |

The best young striker in Europe. Take this comment to any bank you want and tell them I sent you First of all, he was in Wolfsburg and without prejudice he simply could not cut it. He went on trial to Brugge historically and presently one of the top 2/3 teams if not best team in the Belguim league. Now he then goes to the lower half of the Belguim league and is given opportunity. What does that mean to you " Best young Striker in Europe " In reality it means he is not good enough. If a player goes to Liverpool and is rejected and then finds opportunity in Bournemouth. We should then say he is the " Best Young Striker in Europe " He is doing very well and progressing but best in Europe hmmm ❓ l think you are over doing the HYPE. |

tbaba1234: In the last few seasons, Ndidi has one of the highest stats in breaking up play. This means tackling, interceptions etc...
Makalele and Kante did not have to do much else to be considered world class. Put Ndidi in a team with ambition and you will see his value. Tackles is q specific attribute that is measured in isolation not in unison with other attributes. In this regard they are not the same. For instance interceptions are about anticipation and reading the game. Once you have intercepted yoi will not need to tackle because you have taken possession of the ball. You will find Ngolo Kante is measured on interceptions as a specific component not as a holistic one. Interceptions break up play. But Ngolo then creates a new dimension by turning interceptions into offensive play and changing the whole game dynamics. That's why Ngolo Kante is World class he brings not just tackles, but interceptions and in addition he adds offensive delivery to the game. Ndidi has not got to that level yet but he is progressing well, Rome was not built in a day. Give him time he is still young. |

Brought in by Charleroi and goes on to clock virtually every minute of the season. How isn't that irony?! He was not injured persistently that's misinformation he was injured for a short time when he first arrived at Wolfsburg for a few months. Bundesliga is a far higher league than the Belguim league, but he could not deliver, could not meet the required standard for the Bundesliga and or Wolfsburg, essentially he was not good enough. He goes to club Brugge one of the best if not best team in the Belguim league. However, again a lower club and lower league but much higher in pedigree and quality than Charleroi. So now that he is in a lower league and club he is playing and doing well at this much lower level. He may have improved but improved enough to compete in the Bundesliga or higher league is open to debate. So what's the IRONY ❓ |

tbaba1234: I do not agree that Ndidi has a long way to go. What he does already at the moment is top class. Leading the whole of Europe in breaking up play.
There are always things to improve upon but he is not that far away. He is among the top tacklers on the EPL But with regards to breaking up play and or interceptions that's a different attribute and I don't know where you got that statistic from. Or how you have come to thar deduction. It's those little things that make the difference between being World class and let's say top class. Ndidi has a limited passing range and his ability to change the direction of the game offensively may be put to question. Some of these attributes may be difficult or much harder to express in a team like Leicester. However, Ngolo Kante was able to do it and that's why the creme de La creme of Europe's top clubs are still queuing up to get his signature. Ndidi is learning and is on an upward progression but with a lot to do before he can be called World class. In addition it is not alway about statistics. |

wayodude: This is what happened. In 2002, I remember the year because I lived in Tottenham then, me and my guy a bini boy went to Wood Green just on a casual Saturday lunch time kind waka. We were young then. You we got stopped by some guys who asked if we wanted to buy a brand new laptop that they needed to sell it to get money to go back home to Leeds.
I didn't need a laptop but my guy said yea he was interested. So we sat in their car and checked the thing properly, tested it and everything. When we finished testing they put the laptop back in the laptop bag whilst we negotiated.
As we were about concluding the transaction a traffic warden was coming to either tell them off or gave them a ticket as they were parked on a double yellow.
So us being eager to leave the scene with our purchase, got out the car and grabbed the bag as we passed the money to them. O boy as I felt the bag I knew instantly there was nothing inside! I screamed to my friend to drag the money from the guys hand , he tried but they sped off! We were left with a brand new laptop bag with two bottles of water inside.
Na so e take happen o. Even guy men dey fall sometimes.
As for the Florence one this guy picked my wifes pocket straight up. But she realised he had come too close to her and checked her pocket and realised her purse was gone! I asked if she was sure who it was and she pointed out the guy and said 100% sure so I block the guy and didn't let him leave until he returned it.
If not we for die there that day. I was ready. Wood Green is actually not that bad. I remember a time if you lived in Peckham Rye and if you had nice alloy wheels on your car. Guaranteed your car the next morning willl be on bricks. Lol who say tief no deh England. ❓ |
