chuks404: no wahala. We no dey compare. Osimhen is winning africa footballer of the year. Baba the young man has done something no nigerian footballer in history has done.
Sir, if you looked at the analysis of the senior analysts you will discover that is not about Musa playing time at club level but of national quota system, the system that has been killing our national development.
I'll be blunt Umar Sadiq has never been good in the SE.
Icon4s: Coaches don't drop players like that. Let Tella come to the African Soil and prove those points in bold first before you start any comparison.
I've not seen where a player is a timid anonymous mouse 🐁 in club and league and then all of a sudden comes into the national team and becomes a lion ♌.
It doesn't work like that.
If a quality player is not performing in the national team, you have to first look at the management. It's like having Lukaku and if he doesn't score you say he is bad.
When Lukaku was having issues the Tuchel in Chelsea he was still banging goals for Belgium.
firearcher: Well. In that case, Nigeria just dodged a bullet. Blaming Nigerians and cursing the nation for not electing you is a distasteful move.
No self introspection. Total lack of self awareness and a false messiah complex. Nigeria don't need Atiku, if he was that needed, he would have been voted in over the years.
But his poor sense of awareness, repulsive sense of entitlement and lack of good political judgement caused him think most Nigerians want a northerner to rule Nigeria for possibly 16 years at a stretch. And caused him to destroy PDP who had been served an easy ticket to the presidency by Buhari and APC unsatisfactory performance
Dude be reasonable.
What we have is the culmination of years of abuse , corruption in all of the arms of government. We no longer have separation of powers, instead we have impunity and a destruction of the Rule of Law.
We had a CJ removed unconstitutionally and illegally by PMB to get his preferred CJ Tanko. Who was removed outside of due process of the law. And Ariwoola the preferred candidate for Tinubu to perfect the bastardisation of every constitutional process within government as well as ensure the blatantly RIGGED election would never be contested fairly in court.
We have a confirmed Drug dealer, ID Thief, Money laundering criminal, Certificate forgerer, Compulsive liar, Tribal bigot, to name a few. Let's see what other damaging information the FBI will reveal in the coming hour's.
The nation has died , we have a bunch of criminals running the country and some of you are rejoicing.
The EFCC and DSS will become the official thugs of the APC government anybody with any dissenting opinion will be harassed and arrested.
Corruption is going to boom and our already fractured nation is going to be further divided.
Don't forget that even with the massive rigging the criminal Tinubu didn't get up to 10% of the electoral vote. He is sham president and a generational disgrace to our nation and Africa as a whole.
elyte89: Ahmed musa might be left out of d afcon if tella convince d coach with the upcoming qualifier …it’s a 50:50 chance ..it’s eida Ahmed goes and tella stays or vice versa
Ahmed Musa has expired where the SE is concerned, his time has past. Not because of age but he is no longer putting in top quality performances.
He is now in the retirement league and anonymous essentially.
Barryseal: You've proven yourself to be a hatchet man. Just like a used car sales man, you highlighted the part to suit your narrative that makes Omeruo look like a bum, when he's had 100x better career than the likes of Onyedima, Ovie Ejahire, Josh Onuoma and other useful junks you've tried to flush down our throats these past few years. Omeruo is there daddy.
After his performances at the world cup and nations cup, Omeruo was a beautiful bride especially with the manner he handled the likes of Drogba, Dzeko, Messi and Aguero. You need to do your due deligence because I strongly doubt you've been following Nigerian football or you're derive satisfaction from playing the devil's advocate.
Look at yourself in the mirror and you'll see the real bigot.
You are evading the topic and attempting to muddy the waters and divert attention from the core issue. Which is that Omeruo is at best average or in reality below average.
You are scraping the bottom of the 🍲 pot, what relevance is Ovie, Onomah & Onyedinma who are even midfield players to my assertion.
Barryseal: The odds are stacked against a 20yr Old defender getting a break from Mourinho if you want to be honest, especially in a Chelsea settled backline then with John Terry, Ivanovich, Azperculter, Gary cahil Etc
By the way, legit question, If Kenneth was so bad for Middlesbrough why did Karanka beg to have him back on loan?
By the way, legit question, why didn't Karanka break the bank 🏦 to get Kenneth if he was so good and outstanding ❓
And if he was so good, (Legit question) why didn't several other Championship clubs try to buy him and or indeed ANY Premier League club try to sign him please.❓❓
With regards to Chelsea John Terry was 17 When he started playing for Chelsea first team.Tim Cahill was bought from Bolton Wanderers if they can do it why not Kenneth Omeruo ❓
The odds are stacked against you when you are not exceptional , consistently outstanding and top quality.
How old was Levi Colwill , Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah when they started playing for Chelsea. So that proposition that if your 20 you cannot make it into Chelsea is codswallop and balderdash.
Zellas: I am not being emotional or sentimental. But if National team selection is based on club form, I think Ogbu should be ahead of many others. If we are talking of AFCON, a tournament of African opponents, we must not make mistake of parading a defence line of over 80% foreign bred. That is the difference in Keshi's AFCON success and Eguavoen's failure.
BTW, I'm not entirely new to this forum, but I really can't stand some personal attacks meted out from non football related sentiments. So once again I appreciate all the elders of this forum, who has maintained the objective of this wonderful forum through the years, despite all the personal attacks and distractions. Kudos to you all.
Club and league outstanding consistent top quality performances.
Taking into cognisance that not all leagues are the same.
comodo: Many times I will just read some comments here and just shake my head. We cry that we don't have depth in SE CB & MF. But still refuse to explore other options we have. Just because we always have this mindset that if you are good that you should be playing in d big leagues. But we will turn around to prefer a championship player to a Bundesliga & Liga Portugal players. Hypocrisy everywhere.
Unless you are talking the top 5/6 teams in the Bundesliga and with regards to the Portuguese league then top 4/5 teams then I absolutely say the top Championship player is better.
The Championship is physically intense and much more faster and definitely far superior to any other second tier league in Europe.
It's Borrusia D that bought a 16 year old from Birmingham for £25 million.
But be specific who are the better player's in the Portuguese and Bundesliga league that we are taking about.ln❓
Barryseal: Omeruo was our best defender enroute winning the nations cup. He didn't put a foot wrong and basically acted as shield to Vincent Enyeama. In 2019,he was also named in the Afcon team of the tournament by whosored and goal dot com.
Like it or not, belive it or not, Omeruo has been an incredible and dependeble player for Nigeria from U17 to Super Eagles. It's sad to see such a player being rubbished for whatever agenda.
Bringing up his time at Chelsea is very low of you. Was it not the same period Chelsea was renound for being talent killers. Young players like Salah, Debruyn weren't given chances by Mourinho and we're unceremoniously exited by the club.
As far as Afcon is concerned, Omeruo still have a role to play if we want to be successful in that competition.
Those young players at least played games for the first team. Omeruo did not play one game, that in itself tells you something.
He was in the Championship with Middlesbrough for two seasons without a single accolade he was anonymous. He has never been in a top team and spent any decent time in a top League. He has been at best very average or in reality below average.
He has been at fault for several goals and poor performances, both in AFCON and the works cup. He has huge stretch of games that has been used to cover mediocrity.
The question ❓ should be how much better would the have been if we had used other CB of theybhsd been given a chance.
comodo: Never knew that Bundesliga is an obscure league. We are learning everyday.
Dude and his poor Paderborn team played one anonymous season in the Bundesliga and were promptly relegated back to Bundesliga 2, where they c as me from
Paderborn conceded more goals than any one else in 2019/20 Bundesliga they only won 4 games. This was there first season in Bundesliga and they were very poor.
Mine is simple , never have and never will rate a player with official age 29 who has spent 11 years playing low level football across the mist obscure league and clubs in Europe as quality for the SE.
He is doing good for himself but not good enough for the SE.
There has been a lot of talk about being favoured because your were born in Europe where football ⚽ is concerned. And players born in Africa given a hard time and discriminated against.
That's a load of codswallop if you ask me .
Just watched a YouTube video Tottenham supporter going gaga in song for Udogie ( born in Italy not England) lt says a lot about the fans and appreciation for player's irrespective of where they are from.
Bannedlargedx2: Exceptional talent will always be sought out after playing at lower league for many years. But, you can’t call yourself an exceptional player if you have been playing at a lower league for over 6 years
TheSuperNerd: @Emboldened... Another untruth. Leon Balogun featured in the Championship at age 33/34 and he has never been as fast as the intensity of the Championship. He did well. So It's an Omeruo who won't do enough in the Champ?
Even Jamilu Collins is doing well in the Championship as things stand and u never rated Jamilu either.
What constitutes doing well in your dictionary.
He is playing in Cardiff, is he outstanding in the league, how many goals has he scored , how many MOTM awards, assists, goal scoring opportunities created ,etc ❓
Actually none.
Well he is playing now after such a long injury lay off, if just playing means he is doing well.
mank1234: And England with 99% players in EPL are yet to taste world cup final since. Is everything about football about England? By this your logic, Sunday MBA should not have been close to the national team that year. And Enyeama should not have been our keeper while still at Akwa United.
The EPL is the best league in the world 🌎 but it's also the most diverse, its an international league with players from all over the world.
How many English players do you have in the EPL , look at the top teams, Manchester City can Field a team without a single English player.
So England not winning the world cup has no bearing on the quality of the league.
How many Brazilian, Argentine, Dutch, French players play in thier domestic leagues.
Bannedlargedx2: He hasn’t proven himself yet, he went from rangers to Ajax and now Fulham. Bassey is definitely better than omeruo it’s just sad that we don’t have Quality CB on our disposal considering that our best CB is bassey
Kog45: Sir you are mixing things up here. Are you talking about club pedigree or national team?
Yes playing in EPL should do the talking but as at today i haven’t seen it in his game with super eagles and I will not based my judgement cus a player is playing for Fulham.
Osayi is in Turkey and with few appearances he has shown us what he can do..
Osayi rejected a number of EPL clubs guess got more money in Turkey and playing time.
DABIGATRAN: Omeruo comes good in some matches but overall his form has dipped badly. Even the first match you mentioned he was directly responsible for Messi's goal.
Kog45: It depends on what the EPL CB brings to the table.
Bassey has not showed us why he should be rated than other CBs…I remember against Guinea Bissau,he was below par and Omeruo took his position in the second leg.
Super eagles is not about EPL but a national team where the best are invited irrespective of the league and your performance do the talking.
Sir,pls just tell me a Super eagles match that Bassey proved he was a class even as LB
You can't be anonymou mouse 🐀 in a mediocre league in a dead football ⚽ club. Being consistentlu average and below average then all of a sudden you come to the SE and you become a Lion and world class.
Bannedlargedx2: Lucky my nyash. The likes of omeruo, ekong, awaziem, Ajayi once had an opportunity to play at big leagues or team and they didn’t capitalize on those opportunity. I believe that, we don’t have many potential World class CB at our disposal and for such reasons, bassey is numero uno for now until someone better becomes available
All the defenders you mentioned were simply not good enough.
Omeruo was never ever going to play for Chelsea at one stage they had him training with the U18's he was that lowly rated.
He had a stint in the Championship was essentially anonymous. The same goes for Awaziem. Ajayi ,Ekong players that have never been able to make the mark to.
Someone said Omeruo has been good for the SE , maybe or maybe not depending on what level of expectations you have for the SE.
For me he has been consistently below average with not one single attribute that makes him stand out. I remember him getting bullied by the Cameroon forward players in the AFCON and disgraced in the World cup.
Finally, Tosin Adarabioyo is better than all of them.
chrisooblog: I think we've kind of made peace with the fact that all the CB options we have are average at best, which is why we need decent midfield cover and an okay goalkeeper to help the defense out. The truth is if we are to have any chance of winning the AFCON then our attack will have to fire on all cylinders. The good news is the tools are there but will the coaches deploy the right tactics?
It really depends on what you call average and even below average.
For instance Jordan Torunarigha, left a obscure and anonymous career in the Bundesliga to the much lower Belgium league, would up call him above average or below average ❓
Danielnino00: That's right.. I forgot.. He should switch places with Ajayi then... I would have loved Awazeim to play RCB, but he doesn't seem to be much in Jpes plan these days..
Awaziem has expired where the SE is concerned, we need upgrades and stop recycling players who are below average and going nowhere in club and league.
