Nomyth:
I just don't understand this recent idea of always assessing a player solely on where he plays. This is so simplistic and very misleading.
We are talking about the AFCON for God's sake where a lot of other countries will be presenting players from various leagues in Africa! Not as if our opponents are bringing players from real Madrid or Barca so I don't see the reason why someone playing for Orlando Pirates can't make the team.
The Egyptian team that won back to back Afcon titles doesn't have a large number of players playing in Europe. It's simplistic to display ignorance and present it as intelligence. Simply put the best players end up in the best teams Ceteris paribus. |

Marjoribanks: I watched Osimhen play his first full game in two months, and he brilliantly earned a clear penalty out of nowhere. However, the VAR referee disagreed, which was disappointing.
On another note, Haaland missed several clear chances against Tottenham, yet his fellow countrymen keep making excuses for him.
Osimhen, on the other hand, tirelessly challenged Inter's defense for the entire 90 minutes, yet some of his own countrymen label him a one-season wonder? To me, that's utterly ridiculous. How can someone with double-digit scores in Belgium, France, and Italy be called a one-season wonder? I can't help but think that some people are irrationally critical and being utterly stvpid!.
Regarding the news about Maldini's comments on transfers, it's shocking how misinformation spreads. He never mentioned that signing Chukwueze was a waste of money, yet Punch Nigeria published a headline suggesting exactly that. It's astonishing and disgraceful!
When I look at how Americans support Pulisic, I can't help but feel disheartened by how we, as Black men, often don't show the same support for our own. We seem to be more inclined to pull each other down instead of lifting each other up, and that's truly pathetic. Football ⚽ fans have always been emotively fanatical and not very objective and fair. And as such very fickle, today you are great and tomorrow you are useless, this is very normal. You have made some very wide all encompassing and sweeping assumptions, l am not sure what they are based on. For instance you talk about Pulisic, how do USA 🇺🇸 citizens support him beyond the ordinary. I have seen no evidence of over the top support for him. To create a narrative and become the judge , prosecutor, jury and investigator all in one.Thats not very balanced. You make assumptive claims with no evidence just your perception. Who called V.O. a one season wonder SURPRISED 🤯 and although l doubt it ,in what context ❓And why should a singular view get you all fired up and indignant. But what you do and many others do here is you hype players you like and exclude those you do not. Any anyone who disagree with your narrative you call HATER. For instance IGHALO scored a hat trick and is joint 6th highest goal 🥅 scorer in the Saudi league one goal below Benzema. Yet nobody is clamouring for him to be called back to the SE. Sadiq scores a very good 🥅 and now he is great and excellent, after one flash in the pan goal 🥅. From my experience praise and hype will make you complacent but criticism will make you way BETTER. When I see players my appraisal is by comparison standards and expectations across the board irrespective of nationality. I will not set a lower standard to compensate for players because they happen to come from a less disadvantaged background, etc. The idea of supporting your country man regardless of competency just because he is your countryman is the primary anchor ⚓ for nepotism, favouritism, mediocrity, and undue preference. This is essentially the Nigerian problem. We are being ruled by the most incompetent criminal and corrupt leaders across the globe, WHY 🤔because I MUST support my country man, tribe, village, associated, etc. It should be OUTSTANDING COMPETENCY not BIASED PREFERENCE. Maldini has his opinion and it's not unquestionable , however I think it's reasonable if indeed it is his opiniin by comparison to Pulisic. Considering Pulisic has scored 6 goals in 12 games and Chukwueze how many ❓ You may want to call me HATER but I don't agree with your wide unproven assumptions. |

Meliforme: You missed the point. Iwobi was touted to be poor at long balls, i corrected that opinion with actual data.
It will always be a good thing to come at people's opinion, arguing what is being discussed, staying in the context of the discussion rather than saying what is in your head, and in your head alone. Long ball is not an outstanding skill set ( police game) it's a tactic used and relied upon by limited poor players and poor teams. When it becomes the core strategy. Otherwise top players and teamd use precision passing movement and skill to bring the ball forward most of the time. And yes they do use long pin point precison balls at the right time. But if that's all you can do long ball then you will be in semi professional football. |

Kog45: This did not answer my post. The issue here is not about Kelechi Nwakali club status, wages and salaries and Portugal league position in Europe, not even his performance.
My question,is it a sin or a taboo for someone to bring Nwakali up discussing Nigeria midfield?this was my indirect question to a post who asked why are people always bringing Nwakali up discussing Nigeria midfield.
My point, any Nigeria player has every right to be discussed here irrespective of anybody’s opinion on the said player.
If “doing it” in Portuguese league meant doing well to you then it connoted different meaning to me…in my usage in that post “doing it” meant “playing in” Portuguese league. I judge harshly, apologies for misconstruing your statement. For me the only reason we should talk about players because they show good quality and have the capacity to play for the SE. This is why I stopped talking about players like ; Chuks Aneke Freddie Onyedinma Josh Onomah Oveimuno Ejaria Dominic Iorfa Ojo Seyi And quite a few others because they haven't done enough 😞 to justify a call up. However, when we keep talking about Nwakali it seems I've been too hasty. Because all of these players have done way better than Nwakali. |

Kog45: . Nwakali is a Nigerian and is presently doing it in Portuguese league so he fit in when we are discussing about our midfielders cuz not that we have them special….Ndidi in championship with Leicester and Iwobi in EPL with Fulham not even in top ten club sides in EPL. With respect, what is Nwakali doing in the Portuguese league ❓ His team is at the bottom of the league, they have won just 2 games out of 11. One of those games they won , was because there opponents had two players sent off. When a team does well all the players share in the accolades in the same vein when a team is abysmally poor they players share in the condemnation. The Portuguese league is rated 7th in Europe 🌍 and there is huge gulf between the bottom teams and the top teams. I will go back to Finances there is undeniable relationship between a teams quality and the Finances used to acquire players. Somehow Nwakali is in a worse team than he was in the Segunda Division with Ponferradina, he is earning less money. And you imply he is doing well, that is not just exaggeration but misrepresentation and misleading. His team Chavez FC has a weekly wage bill that is lower than a English League one team. That tells you about the quality of players in Chavez FC . |

Danielnino00: Who are the world class players on Southampton bench that the likes of Nwakali, Matthew, Alhassan and Folorunsho won't make it there? 🤣😂 Your question ❓ destroys your intended proposition. Nwakali is at the bottomless pit in Portuguese league Folorunsho is in Verona at the bottom of seria A Mathew plays for Zurich in the Swiss league rated 12th in Europe. Which is lower than the Scottish league. Alhassan plays in the Belgium super league. None of these players are exceptional infact Nwakali is very poor quality and earns less than €2000 a week . There is an intrinsic link between player value and quality. This cannot be denied not always conclusive but definitely indicative at least. There are no world class players in my opinion in Southampton but there are several high quality players and in the team. The players you mentioned are not exceptional but low quality. Nwakali who at his peak could not get into Arsenal youth team. |

Tobichimezie: Surely this Alex Oyowah lad can't do any worse than a div 2 benchwarmer like Aribo who has no business in the national team, there should be at least 3 decent midfielders in our local league that are good enough to make the Super Eagles...then add the likes of Alhassan Yusuf, Ifeanyi Matthew, Nwakali, Folorunsho to the established faces like Iwobi and Onyedika/Onyeka and we should have a solid midfield depth. There's no excuse why any sane modern day coach should be inviting only 4 midfielders when we have OPTIONS. Peseiro is really am idiot for wasting our time honestly. You have zero knowledge. Where does Ndidi and KC play ❓ without Ndidi the SE has a huge irreplaceable gap currently. But according to you they should all be dropped because they are playing in Division Two. The EPL is the best league in the world and definitely the most competitive. So how good is the Championship ❓the stepping stone to the championship. It's in record that it's way superior to the Scottish league. Add these hungry set of players to the team and watch our fortunes change. The only thing I can agree with is that Nwakali is very hungry indeed in fact he is in starvation. He is earning less than what he earned at the very lowly almost bankrupt Ponferradina who got relegated and now after 11 games 8 loses Chaves are at the bottom in relegation zone again. Joebie: Maybe we should have Oliseh back with all the support. I don’t mind heads rolling. This team needs all seriousness mentality injected. Oliseh and Siasia are corrupt and bedeviled with favouritism, nepotism, double standard and conflicting interests. Even Eguavon is not far off , there are even question marks on Amunike. Sanusi is dead on arrival. Getting your UEFA A coaching licence , does not automatically make you a great coach and manager. It's a bit like passing your driver's license it doesn't mean you are a great driver. It's your innate abilities that you have from personality, aptitude, and the unique application of your experience and knowledge that makes you EXCEPTIONAL. However, you really cannot compare the experience of coaches coming from Ajax, Arsenal, Bayern,Real Madrid, etc to someone coming from Bendel insurance and Warri wolves. The difference in quality is undeniable and almost impossible to match. When the Charlatan was appointed I made my position very clear as a pathetic decision reflecting the corruption in the NFF. And it's not about white coaches but quality competent coaches. And if the issue is colour there are several black managers with very good pedigree in Europe 🌍. But we chose a MEDIOCRITY and we are reaping what we have sown. |
