Politics › Re: FG To Launch Contactless Passport Application In Four States Next Month- Tunji by Konquest: 1:56am On Dec 20, 2024 |
zero8zero: Speaking on The Morning Show, an Arise Television programme on Wednesday, Tunji-Ojo said the experimental phase of the project would be launched in Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, and Kano states.
The minister said the contactless passport application service will be rolled out internationally to Nigerians in the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, and France, following its successful launch in Canada.
He added that a phased rollout allows the government to refine the system, ensuring its reliability before expanding access to all.
“I come from a tech management consulting background and in my experience, you don’t launch a project of that magnitude all over at the same time,” Tunji-Ojo said.
“There will be what we call the system shock. And once there’s a system shock, it erodes the benefit that you aim to derive.
“So, we decided that before we open it up to the entire world, let’s start with Canada. And as I speak to you, we’re already producing passports based on the contactless system in Canada.
“By January, we’re taking it to four countries, which include UK, United States, Italy, and France. And of course in Nigeria, we’re opening it up in Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, and Kano.”
The minister acknowledged initial technical issues with the service in Canada, but assured that glitches have been fixed through “patching” and continuous corrections on the system.
He noted that the moment the system is perfect, it would become “a legacy for this particular administration and something Nigerians can be proud of forever”.
“This is why we have adopted a cautious approach towards the project or else people will jump on it and at the end of the day, the frustration can even lead to the failure of the process,” Tunji-Ojo added. https://www.thecable.ng/fg-to-launch-contactless-passport-application-service-in-four-states-next-month-says-tunji-ojo/ |
Politics › Re: Seyi Tinubu Builds E-Library For Young Lawmakers by Konquest: 1:50am On Dec 20, 2024 |
PressMyButton: . The Young Parliamentarians Forum received a major boost on Friday as President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, donated an e-library and co-working space to the group.
The Forum, led by Hon. Lamiju Akala, is recognised by the United Nations, and made up of young members under 40-years-old, who meet to develop ideas and interface with young people interested in the day-to-day activities of the National Assembly.
The donation is Tinubu’s fulfillment of his promise to his friends, The Young Parliamentarians Forum, to support their aspirations and lofty ideas as budding lawmakers.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, who commissioned a state-of-the-art facility, a storey building on Mississippi Street, Abuja, which houses The Congrès, said,
“This innovative space aims to provide an enabling environment where young people can strategise, discuss national progress, and contribute to youth-oriented legislation.”
Echoing similar sentiments, the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, also lauded the initiative.
According to him, this development is expected to have a positive impact on youth engagement and representation in Nigeria’s parliament.
Gbajabiamila said, “I wish this happened during my time as it is a good environment for young legislators to meet and deliberate on issues bothering nation building.
“I commend Mr. Seyi Tinubu for initiating this laudable project as it will further enhance the legislative process for young parliamentarians. The building houses an e-library, a physical library and co-working space for all young parliamentarians.”
Also at the commissioning was the duo of Mr. Tope Adekoya CEO 7-Fifteen Capital Ltd and Co-Chair, The 7-Fifteen Foundation, and Mrs. Adesuwa Belo-Osagie, Co-CEO 7-Fifteen Capital Ltd and Co-Founder The 7-Fifteen Foundation, who developed the Congress building for young parliamentarians, amongst a host of others. https://dailytrust.com/seyi-tinubu-builds-e-library-for-young-lawmakers |

OkayDaddy: Lagos has more than a dozen vehicle assembly plants. Ikeja alone has like 5. Why should they leave them and go patronise Innoson outside Lagos?
If Innoson wants to sell in Lagos, he should open a plant in Lagos. Those Nissans you see and the Blue pickup trucks are assembled in Lagos. There's absolutely NO need for that car assembly company from the East of River Niger (that sells exact Chinese knockoffs) to set up a vehicle plant in Lagos. The vehicle market space for assembled cars in Lagos is already saturated for potential security vehicles supplies to the Lagos State government. Nord Automobiles is already around in the Unilag environs, Nissan, GAC, even the Abayomi Ogundeyin-owned ProForce Defence Industries located in the nearby Ogun State etc is available for more rugged, bullet-proof cars |

Business › Re: Seplat To Revive 400 Oil Blocks by Konquest: 12:52am On Dec 20, 2024 |
grandstar: You'd have made more sense if you said Oando. Someone from the Tinubu family is there.
What you don't know is that Oando borrowed $800m to make a recent purchase.
During the Babangida and Abacha regimes, many of these oil blocks were gifted out for free. That is how Nigeria's richest woman, Mrs Alakija, made her stupendous wealth. @ grandstar Greetings again.
I have a contrarian view to that of yours on the BOLDED. I must emphasize here and NOW that many of those deep offshore oil blocks were NOT "gifted out for FREE." These deep offshore oil blocks went through open bidded by the Nigerian investors BECAUSE General Babangida (and then that other deeply corrupt dark goggled military dictator who took over from Ernest Sonekan) wanted Nigerians to get involved in the VERY risky deep offshore oil exploration as well.Otunba Mike Adenuga was the FIRST EVER among all of them to strike crude oil in the deep offshore back in the early 1990s through Consolidated Oil (Conoil) and others soon followed. Some others such as Kase Lawal, the Nigerian-American oil and gas tycoon and President of CAMAC Group in Texas did NOT strike significant oil of commercial quantity in his deep offshore oil blocks. This is where he and others who did not fully succeed sank in a LOT of money daily with the hiring of expensive oil rigs and the old 2-D technologies we had back in the day for seismic studies. Mrs. Folorunso Alakija certainly did NOT get her deep offshore oil blocks gifted for free as her company Famfa Oil ALSO formerly bidded for the oil blocks in partnership with some of her siblings from the Ogbara family who are indigenes of Ikorodu in Lagos. Mrs. Folorunso Alakija (unknown to a lot of these young ethnic bigots and creeps on NL and elsewhere online defaming her that she slept with IBB and Abacha to get the oil blocks) actually worked in a bank (she was a banker at the iconic IMB Plaza on Victoria Island) on her return from the United Kingdom. She had to eventually retire back in the 1980s to take care of her young kids who were still growing up and that's when she established the hugely famous "Supreme Stitches" in Ikeja which made bespoke wears and had elite clients. I'm sure you remember that IMB Plaza was made of bluish glass and shaped in the form of a pyramid on Victoria Island close to the Bar Beach. So, Alakija was born into the wealthy Ogbara family of Ikorodu and her father had even sent her and her sister to a boarding school in Wales before she clocked 10 years of age! Mrs Alakija indeed had corporate experience prior to delving into the risky oil and gas sector in the early 1990s. She had to involve other foreign oil partners in her quest to ensure that FAMFA Oil struck crude oil in the risky deep offshore which her team eventually did. It was really hard work to get crude oil flowing at the end of the day.The BIGGEST winners who struck oil in the risky deep offshore back in the early 1990s are Otunba Mike Adenuga, the late High Chief Lulu Briggs of Moni Pulo from Rivers State, Mai Deribe, Folorunso Alakija's Famfa Oil, Authur Eze, Chief Tunde J. Afolabi of Amni Petroleum also made it after a long search, etc.Like I said, Kase Lawal ran into serious headwinds after spending millions of USD on oil explorations in his deep offshore blocks, the MKO Abiola family also got into stormy waters, etc. Last but NOT least, I know all these FACTS because I have official documents, business magazines, and newspapers in my archives from the early 1990s about those deep offshore oil blocks and I am fully aware of the open bidding process, licences granted and much more. There are some MISLEADING information online about those early Nigerian pioneers or investors in the deep offshore under the indigenization act. |
Business › Re: Banks Restrict Multiple Account Owners To N20,000 Withdrawal by Konquest: 12:44am On Dec 20, 2024 |
Islie: There is no end in sight yet to the low cash supply by commercial banks as customers face increasing difficulty with cash withdrawal, checks by Daily Trust have shown.
There are indications that commercial banks have also limited cash withdrawal on Automated Teller Machine (ATMs) to N20,000 for multiple account holders.
Daily Trust reports that the cash scarcity has worsened in recent times despite a warning by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to impose sanctions on commercial banks.
This is in spite of over N4.3 trillion currency in circulation, which has sustained an upward trajectory in the outgoing year.
The CBN governor, Olayemi Cardoso had at the annual Bankers’ Dinner organised by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in Lagos recently assured that the bank would continue to “Maintain a robust cash offering to meet the country’s needs, particularly during high demand periods such as the festive season and year-end.”
Reports from across the country indicated that customers were still having difficulty with withdrawing cash from either the banks or ATMs.
It was learnt that customers with multiple accounts are only allowed to make ATM withdrawal of N20,000 on a daily basis.
A bank customer told our correspondent that he couldn’t make further withdrawal from his other account after withdrawing N20,000 from his first account.
“Because I needed more cash, I used another ATM card to make further withdrawals but I got a response that the daily withdrawal limit has been exceeded,” the customer said.
Daily Trust findings also showed that withdrawal limit varies depending on the availability of cash even as some ATMs pegged maximum withdrawal from other banks to N5,000.
Daily Trust gathered that the withdrawal limit at one of the branches of Guaranty Trust Bank, (GTB) was pegged at N5,000. Further findings showed that a user with two ATM cards of different banks could withdraw N5,000 each.
For GTB customers, the withdrawal limit was pegged at N20,000 both at the ATM and over the counter.
One of the bank officials who was asked about the withdrawal limit said: “It depends on the availability of cash but now the limit is N20,000.”
At FCMB, our correspondent gathered that the withdrawal limit of other banks was pegged at N20,000 while the withdrawal limit for FCMB customers was pegged at N40,000.
Also, at Zenith Bank, it was gathered that the withdrawal limit was N20,000.
A point-of-sale (POS) agent, Mosuru Oluwasegun pleaded with bank authorities to ease the means of doing business for POS operators, saying the withdrawal limit of N5000 as an untold hardship.
“We are facing serious problems with scarcity of cash, it has not been easy as banks do not dispense enough money. They dispense only N5,000, which is not enough for us to do our business,” he added.
Cash supply is low, we are rationing – Bank sources
Sources at some DMBs told our correspondent that cash supply is slow across the bank branches while confirming the withdrawal limit by some banks.
“Cash supply is low so banks are managing for it to go round. POS people don’t even get cash from the banks. They source from fuel stations and markets but people will think it’s from banks,” one of the bank officials who spoke with our correspondent in confidence said. https://dailytrust.com/banks-restrict-multiple-account-owners-to-n20000-withdrawal/ |

[quote author=LegendHero post=133353164] NOTHING controversial about the banner. Both groups are pushing historically FALSELY doctrines anyway because there was NO human being called "Jesus." The Jesus of the Bible which the Muslims allude to as a "messenger and prophet" of God is INFACT a personification (metaphor) of the pagan Sun God which was widely worshipped in ancient empires from Egypt, Persia, Babylon, Greece, Rome, India, etc. This is why the December 25 Christmas date coincides with the period when the SUN rises to its highest point after 3 days on going down in the horizon during the Winter Solstice. This is what is refered to as the rebirth of the Sun by the ancients and the Jesus metaporical story just like other Sun Gods shows the burial and resurrection from the dead after 3 days and the rise from the dead of the biblibal Jesus was at SUNRISE. Many other attributes of the biblical Jesus were attributes of the SUN. I am the LIGHT of the WORLD, I am the way the truth and the LIGHT, The SUN of righteousness and many more! Indeed ignorance is a disease!
The SUN was seen as the giver of LIGHT and ALSO enhanced the growth of CROPS in agricultural societies while ALSO moderating the seasons. This is why Sunday is the day devoted to the worship of the SUN God which you find among Christians who religion evolved from the pagan Roman religion based off of the Sun God worship as constituted by Emperor Constantine of Rome who is well known Sun God (Sol Invictus) worshipper.
Acharya S or D.M. Murdock (who was an archaeologist and great historian) is one of the many who explain the astrotheological origins of Jesus the SUN of God in her books and YouTube videos online to educate those who are ready to learn. Her books such as: "Jesus as the SUN throughout History" has been a major international best seller. Suns of God is another book she has written showing the astrotheological origins of many of the world's orthodox religions based on the worship of the Sun, moon, stars and the 12 Zodiac sign constellations which have survived till today and shamefully being denied by the clergy men who know these things anyway but do NOT want to lose their authorities. Of course others have known these things and hence have spoken out and left the fossilized thinking of their orthodox religions because LIES were being told to their followers.
NOBODY called Jesus (Jesus is the English spelling derived from the Latin Iesus or Iezeus or Zeus which all mean SAVIOR) existed in history. Just like Mithra, Horus, Apollo and other savoir Gods or SUN Gods, Jesus or Iesus, or Iezeus was just personification OR figurative being created to stand in for the pagan SUN GOD. The Europeans even knew this before colonialism was brought to Africa, Asia, and the Americas. It's ridiculous that the early Muslims under Caliph Uthman too ended up fabricating the story of an Isa or a Jesus who is a real human prophet and messenger of God. For those of us who have decades of insights from comparative religion studies, BOTH Muslims and Christians have EXPOSED and shot themselves CLEARLY in the foot with these FALSE historical and non-sacred narratives in their liturgies which they have used to control the ignorant masses in the past centuries BUT in the current information age, these religious FALSEHOODS will be crushed forever. Period. |

PressMyButton: The apex northern sociocultural group, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has expressed delight over the renaming of the University of Abuja by the federal government after former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Retd).
ACF described the gesture as befitting and worthy honour coming on the heels of the elder statesman’s 90th Birthday anniversary, adding that “it is also a Christmas gift of sorts from the FGN to the amiable and charismatic General!”
The apex northern group said it “received news of the decision of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) to rename the University of Abuja after General Yakubu Gowon, PhD, GCFR, Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, during the years, 1967 – 1975.”
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the forum, Professor Tukur Muhammad-Baba said it is more pleasing that the honour was bestowed on the ACF’s Grand Patron.
More than this, ACF noted that General Gowon “is a nationalist of quintessential extraordinaire, an icon of Nigeria’s struggles for national unity, a man of great humility, a symbol of military professionalism, revered hero who gave his all to Keep Nigeria One, even as his (and our) particular dreams remain very much a work-in-progress.”
ACF further described the gesture honouring such a deserving national hero while he is still alive to savour the recognition as most commendable.
The Forum called on the National Assembly to accelerate passage of the necessary legislation to concretise the renaming.
Finally, the ACF congratulates the former Head of State, his family and friends on the honour, and also extends same felicitation to the University of Abuja Community and Nigeria at large. https://leadership.ng/acf-hails-federal-govts-renaming-of-abuja-varsity-after-gowon/ Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja, is NOT a bad brand name in my opinion. It's a Federal University, so, there's NOTHING WRONG with the rebranding. With time, everyone would get used to it just like folks gradually got used to the rebranding of the University of Ife to Obafemi Awolowo University (after Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, the iconic London School of Economics and Political Science-educated lawyer, nationalist and Premier of the Old Western Region passed on in 1987). Period.Indeed, unknown to some of the younger ones complaining online and offline, it was actually the iconic General Yakubu Gowon's military administration that initiated the ORIGINAL plan to move the administrative capital of Nigeria from Lagos Island since 1914 (NOTE: The entire Lagos State was NOT the capital of Nigeria, it's just Lagos Island which ALSO doubled as the FIRST capital of the newly created Lagos State on May 27,1967 before the new Lagos State capital was moved to Ikeja in 1976) because Lagos Island was too small for further expansions (and is owned by the indigenous Yoruba ethnic group) to a NEW FCT called Abuja back in the early 1970s carving out parts of the vast lands in the Old Plateau State, Niger State, Kaduna State, and the current Kogi State to create the more centralized new administrative capital Abuja. General Ibrahim Babangida eventually did the final rapid movement in 1991 triggered partly due to the ruthless 1990 Gideon Orkar-led military coup attempt in Lagos which nearly took his life.General Yakubu Gowon and his entire cabinet and war team were indeed magnanimous in unifying Nigeria during and after the exactly 2 years and 6 months Nigerian Civil War which ended in January 1970. A regretable event happened to the innocent folks of Asaba, while the rebels where being kicked out of the newly created MidWest State in 1967 by Federal troops and Gowon had since offered deep apologies for that event till date. A deeply vindictive military Head-of-State or person would have proceeded to wipe off or kill a large number of innocent Igbo people after the gallant Federal troops had liberated several areas of Nigeria from the rebel secessionists especially from 1968 to 1970. I have been a veteran reader since the early 1980s of several Nigerian Civil War books written by the combatants on both sides including Alexander Madiebo's book, so as to get perspectives from all sides. Even the foreign media at the end of the Nigerian Civil War stated that such magnanimity of forgiveness had NEVER been seen in previous Civil Wars in recorded history. Nigerian soldiers and the rebels even shared cigarettes, drinks and played football together right on the front lines. Nigerian troops ALSO didn't go all out to wipe off the secessionist rebels. They could have done so easily but the rules of military engagement given from the military High Command was NOT to misbehave and General Olusegun Obasanjo who took over from Brigadier-General Bejamin Adekunle of the 3rd Marine Commando of the Nigerian Army (or 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army) fully implemented these on the battlefield. I remember that one Nigeria soldier was court marshalled and executed for violations and molestation. That was how serious the Nigerian Army went to ensure that civilians in the liberated former rebel enclaves were NOT molested. I write this because the largest number of those opposing the renaming of this Uni and insulting or making unfounded historical claims about Yakubu Gowon are younger Igbos. By the early 1980s Emeka Ojukwu himself had been granted amnesty by Shehu Shagari's NPN government, he contested for an elective position which he lost, and he ALSO started collecting his pension as a retired Colonel of the Nigerian Army. That level of magnanimity is huge and showed that Nigerians were relieved to have the Igbos back in the mainstream. It's a segment of the younger generation that have embarked on vicious online toxic hate speech and propaganda from secessionist groups from 1999 such as Massob and intensified by Ipob since 2012 using paid online troll farms located around the world to spread disinformation as revealed in a viral 2022 British Broadcasting Corporation video documentary by the BBC Global Disinformation Team. |

cybersoldiers: Sadwest is the most terrible place to live on earth.
Yorubas killing themselves
Very unsafe place for humans. A LOT of murders, drug trafficking, Internet frauds, vicious kidnappings and armed robberies have taken place for over 30 years in Lagos State and other contiguous South West states that were NOT carried out by Yoruba folks. Many non-Yorubas and even non-Nigerians live and hustle in Lagos and Yoruba states who have been arrested for vicious crimes and interstate armed robberies and we are privy to the police statistics from these crimes from over 30 years ago.The notorious armed robbery and kidnapper called Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike (nicknamed Evans) is from Anambra State and he and his fellow ethnic criminal gang engaged in interstate armed robberies and kidnappings of people right within Lagos State and the Eastern states of Nigeria. The criminal was living a FAKE life with his family right in the elite Magodo Estate in Lagos while still organizing the kidnappings of many people of different ethnic backgrounds right in Lagos before he and his gang were finally BUSTED and charged to court in Lagos State. Another criminal gang of 40 armed robbers from Anambra State was busted in Oyo State in 2010 by the team of Adisa Bolanta the Commisioner of Police in Oyo State for the armed robberies and killings in Ogbomoso and other parts of Oyo State. It was a Lagos-based spare parts dealer that was a part of the armed robbery gang who gave them tips on how to navigate their way in Lagos and Oyo State. Several luxury bus robberies and rapes of some female passengers on board were carried out with tips by insiders around the Sagamu axis of the Lagos-Benin Expressway who were all of Igbo origin. Fortunately, nearly all of them got arrested by diligent police detectives. These guys would engage in crimes in other regions of Nigeria and even unleash violence on innocent people in the East and flaunt their ill-gotten money building mansions and buying cars like that criminal Chukwudumeme "Evans" was doing. The wife of the owner of Ifesinachi Motors was widely reported in the media to have been kidnapped right in the Mazamaza area of Lagos and taken to one of the states in Igboland by some criminals and insiders who worked with the transport company in 2009 and that was the FIRST EVER case of kidnapping for ransom recorded in the history of Lagos State. They were able to do so because check points were relaxed nationwide at that time on the orders of the government but that turned out to be counter productive. The crack team of the Police IRT was able to track her down to the location of the criminals in the state they took her to and rescued her using advanced tracking tools.Lastly, several Internet fraudsters have also been arrested right in Lagos who are NOT of Yoruba descent. This isn't strange because Lagos is one of the cosmopolitan states in Nigeria just like Rivers State, Kano State, Kaduna State, Oyo State, etc, where may people from around the world come into to seek for survival and to do business, and more. You must learn NOT to display your ignorance online. Period. |

Meerahbel: Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) in Nigeria offer a unique opportunity for individuals to invest in real estate without directly managing properties. REITs allow people to buy and sell shares in companies that own or finance real estate properties, providing a way to diversify investment portfolios and earn rental income without the hands-on work of being a landlord
Types of REITs in Nigeria:
- Equity REITs: Invest in and own properties, generating income from rents and property sales. - Mortgage REITs: Invest in and own property mortgages, generating income from interest on the mortgages. - Hybrid REITs: Combine elements of equity and mortgage REITs, investing in both properties and mortgages .
*Benefits of REITs in Nigeria:
- Liquidity: REIT shares can be easily bought and sold on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. - Diversification: REITs provide a way to invest in real estate without directly managing properties. - Stable Income: REITs can provide a regular stream of income through dividend payments.
Challenges Facing REITs in Nigeria:
- Lack of Public Awareness: Many Nigerians are not familiar with REITs and their benefits. - Difficulties in Processing Land Titles: The process of obtaining land titles in Nigeria can be slow and cumbersome. - Limited Regulatory Framework: The regulatory framework for REITs in Nigeria is still evolving and may not provide sufficient guidance or support.
Despite these challenges, REITs in Nigeria have the potential to provide attractive investment opportunities and contribute to the growth of the country's real estate sector. |

Meerahbel: Thank you for your this question.
Risk=Rich Fear is what is holding many people from reaching the peak.
You can save by either living below your means. However savings CANNOT make you rich.
Let assume you just got a job, you can squat with friends or stay with parents and when you want to get your own apartment go for a single room not a self contained or if you lucky the jobs gives you accommodation (you are to left with only the expanse to feed yourself) With 60k, save 20% that's N20,000 a year would give you 240,000, that's if accommodation is provided but if no accommodation is unavailable you can do 5-10k per month, you can decide to buy a plot of land or invest in crypto, stocks market most especially foreign stocks (because earning in naira is no longer profitable), Treasury bill, or FG savings bonds (5000 to start by the way and you get interest quarterly) Your return can be used to pay monthly bill in the case of FG savings bonds school fees though or professional qualifications exams.
Invest FIRST, then SPEND the rest.
Everything is all about planing, the day you start taking actions and stop complaining or giving excuses you would see the difference.
Another cheat code to wealth is in Real Estate. For instance, a land I bought for 800,000 in 2015, today that land is worth more than 15 million naira, you can decide to sell and go but an acre some other place. When you buy the acre, you self a plot or two and go to another place buy an acre and RINSE & REPEAT.
I am invested in the following; 1. Crypto 2. Stocks market (both local and foreign) I use trove for foreign stocks, if you interested use the link on my profile to get started we both get free shares. 3. Real Estate 4. Nigerian Treasury Bills 5. FG savings bond 6. REITs (silent money spinner) 7. Remote jobs - By next year I will no longer do 9-5 anymore, I done with onsite jobs 8. My Spa business
No rich person depends on one source of income.
I hope this helps. Impressive takes. |

essentialone1: I have been reading this thread, but I am yet to see anyone mention the 2 most important things I always love to hear and read on this and similar subject matters. It is never just enough to say I am now making money. You have to have a personal Annual Statement of Financial Position. You don't need to be an accountant to do that. It's simple but you have to be intentional about it.
1. You need to always know how much you are now worth in dollar terms. You don't need to exchange your physical naira to dollars for you to know that. Just calculate It online. It is very important so you know if you are actually growing financially or just moving in a circle. For example if by last year, you had 750,000 naira as your Available cash by 19th December 2023, by today 19th December 2024, you may now have 1.2million naira as your available cash. Some people here will think they have grown financially, but in real terms, you have actually become poorer. If this is not clear to you, you need a lot of learning to do in Financial Management.
2. Having taken care of number 1, next is to find out your increase or decrease in terms of percentage based on the same dollar rate. Using same example in number 1. The person who had 750,000 naira last year could be said to be worth 1,000 US Dollars. But by this year, even with his or her 1.2million naira, the person is now worth about 772 US Dollars. If I am the person, I will clearly know that this year 2024, I had a 22.80% decrease in my financial position. It will keep me on my toes, and make my head go restless on what and what to do to improve. But if unfortunately such a person is celebrating that he or she has made more money this year, I can only just shake my head.
I know several persons will say I am speaking trash, and that this is an unsolicited advice, but I always like to put these 2 points out, so that you keep track, and so that you do not end up celebrating poverty, thinking that you have become richer. Indeed, those are highly impressive takes which basically every one should implement as part of their personal finance strategies. You need to adjust for inflation and currency depreciation in any country's economic ecosystem. |

Politics › Re: Anambra: Soludo Declares Amnesty For Repent Criminals, Gives Feb 2025 Deadline by Konquest: 11:38pm On Dec 18, 2024 |
beerfraud: Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has offered amnesty to criminals in the state, declaring that they have until the end of February 2025 to lay down their arms.
The governor also announced plans to launch a joint security operation to tackle insecurity in the state.
Soludo said the operation is codenamed ‘Operation Udo Ga Achi’, which means ‘Let Peace Reign’.
The governor who briefed journalists at the Anambra State Governor’s Lodge on Tuesday, said his government has identified armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism and touting as the principal problems causing insecurity in the state.
He said: “As for touting, the State Anti-touting Agency codenamed SASA is tackling that in Onitsha and they are doing quite well.
“When we came in as governor, about seven local government areas were in the grip of hoodlums, but we took on them head on and liberated all those communities.
“Today, we hear that a handful of some of those criminals earlier dislodged have now come together and have been terrorizing the state.
“We have had reports of people being kidnapped, and vehicles snatched, but in the coming days, we will launch Operation Udo Ga Achi. We have procured here 168 patrol vehicles which would be distributed to various security agencies.
“Apart from the support we will be given the security agencies, we are also deploying ICT in the fight against insecurity.
“We are calling on criminal elements who would want to partake in our amnesty programme to come forward and surrender themselves and their arms. We are giving them from now to end of February to come and surrender and we will be ready to help them start life afresh.”
Speaking on the continuous incarceration of separatist leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and the fact that many of the criminals hide under the cover of his detention to perpetrate crime, Soludo insisted that indications have shown that what is happening is organized criminal enterprise and has nothing to do with Kanu’s detention.
He said: “I have been at the forefront of the call for the release of Kanu, I even said that in the worst case scenario, I was ready to keep him here at the Government House and produce him anytime he is needed.
“Part of the reason was that we really need to sit down, to interrogate this whole idea. But for people saying that the insecurity is because of his detention, I want to tell you that Nnamdi Kanu himself and IPOB, the organisation he leads, have made several press releases dissociating themselves from the kidnap for ransom and criminality that is ongoing.
“The truth of the matter is that criminals have now emerged, hordes of them organize themselves, using his (Kanu’s) name. I’m not so sure that even if he comes now and says stop that they will hear him. They have tasted blood and they will not stop. They go for kidnappings and they are making millions from it, so they will not stop.
“Imagine someone who is riding okada and they recruit him and he goes into the bush and all his life he has never had N100,000 at once and he joins the group and all of a sudden they do a successful kidnap operation and he gets one million or two from ransom. Tomorrow you think he will want to leave? In fact the one who tells him to leave the business will be his enemy.
“So the matter is much more complicated now and it is taking a life of its own. It is now lucrative business. All of them talking about agitation are just using that as a cover to get the sympathy of the people, especially those who are not informed. They present themselves as liberators. You are a liberator and you stay in the bush and you want us to believe you? They now add to it idolatry. The first thing they put in any town they go to is a massive shrine.”
The governor said henceforth, his government will begin to revoke lands of any community who harbour criminals. He added that members of such communities who give food or contribute money to take to them in the bush will be treated as collaborators.
He said “Also, any house that is found to have harboured kidnappers will henceforth become the property of the government.” https://dailypost.ng/2024/12/17/anambra-soludo-declares-amnesty-for-repent-criminals-gives-feb-2025-deadline/ |
