Environments marked by chronic deprivation, insecurity, collapsed social order, and exposure to violence (which we see in fragile states and neglected com munities within countries) tend to produce young males who are biologically primed for dominance defence: higher testosterone reactivity, heightened threat response, lower trust.
That biology then feeds cycles of interpersonal violence, group conflict, and distrust. High distrust and normalised violence make it hard to build stable institutions, attract investment, keep doctors/teachers in the area, or run effective health systems — all of which are requirements for national development.
Again, this all seems like a stretch but it is worth exploring and if found to be true, this calls for action
Your perspective here about elevated testosterone and violent environments is insightful BUT remember that the advanced Scandinavian countries of the North of Europe are listed among countries with the highest testosterone levels. That's something to ponder about.
Editorialtimes: The Bureau News reports that Ivory Coast’s President Alassane Ouattara has secured a controversial fourth term in office, winning 89.77% of the vote in an election marred by political tension and boycotts, according to provisional results announced by the electoral commission on Monday. The poll, which saw nearly nine million voters cast their ballots, was overshadowed by the exclusion of key rivals Laurent Gbagbo and Tidjane Thiam, who were both barred from contesting.
Low Turnout and Deep Political Divides
While turnout averaged just over 50%, participation varied widely. In Ouattara’s northern strongholds, voter turnout neared 100%, but in traditionally opposition-leaning regions — including parts of Abidjan and the southern city of Gagnoa — only 20% of eligible voters participated. Observers say this reflects both political fatigue and deliberate disengagement following weeks of unrest.
“The absence of major opposition figures, coupled with heightened tension before election day, discouraged participation,” said William Assanvo of the Institute for Security Studies (ISS). “Many voters stayed home, skeptical of the process.”
Barred Rivals and Legitimacy Questions
Former president Laurent Gbagbo was excluded due to a prior criminal conviction, while ex-Credit Suisse CEO Tidjane Thiam was disqualified for holding French nationality. Both men had called for a boycott, arguing that Ouattara’s continued rule undermined constitutional limits and democratic competition.
Political analyst Geoffroy Kouao told The Bureau News that “the turnout rate shows two things — strong mobilisation in pro-Ouattara areas and complete withdrawal by the opposition base.”
Opposition Rejects Results, Calls for Fresh Election
Leading opposition voices have rejected the outcome, denying “any legitimacy” to Ouattara’s victory and demanding fresh elections. Entrepreneur Jean-Louis Billon, who came second with just 3.09% of the vote, acknowledged “very low turnout in some regions” but offered cautious congratulations to the incumbent.
Despite deploying 44,000 security personnel and imposing night-time curfews in several areas, the election period witnessed violence. At least eight people were reported killed and nearly two dozen injured in election-day clashes at more than 200 polling stations.
Historical Context and Fragile Stability
Ivory Coast’s presidential contests have historically been fraught with volatility. Ouattara first came to power following the disputed 2010–2011 election against Gbagbo, a crisis that left over 3,000 people dead. His leadership since 2011 has been credited with stabilising the economy, yet critics say his fourth term marks a dangerous concentration of power in a country still healing from past divisions.
On Monday, Abidjan’s streets returned to relative normalcy after a tense and unusually quiet weekend. “The Ivorians said NO to prophets of doom,” headlined Patriote, a pro-government newspaper. In contrast, opposition paper Notre Voie described the poll as “an election reflecting a divided country.”
Regional Reactions and International Watch
West African observers, including ECOWAS and the African Union, have called for calm and restraint, urging political actors to prioritise dialogue over confrontation. Analysts say Ivory Coast’s stability remains vital to the region’s economic and security balance.
For now, Ouattara’s sweeping victory may consolidate control in the short term — but without reconciliation and reform, The Bureau News notes, the country risks replaying its painful political past under a veneer of democratic order.
So the ol' dude is back for the 4th term as President in the beautiful country of Cote D'Ivoire. I remember my first ever visit to the well-planned city of Abidjan by airplane in 1988. Abidjan is still a beautiful city till date where car drivers obey street lights even at night. Big props to the Cocody District and environs... Really loved my stay at the then 5-star hotel, "Hotel d"Ivoire" in Cocody.
[quote author=AnonPoet post=137267925]A viral video has surfaced online showing an alleged illegal midnight demolition around Otumoye Street, Onitsha, in Anambra State.
The video, now circulating across social media platforms, has sparked outrage among citizens who are demanding an immediate investigation from the Anambra State Government and relevant agencies to uncover those behind the demolition.
Video here:
Omo, Night Demolition in Onitsha:Homes torn down on Otumoye Street Anambra with families still inside 🙆😭
, it turns out that this midnight demolition event didn't occur in Oworonsoki in Lagos as earlier claimed by the FAKE news purveyors online in the mass media (the print and electronic media outlets) BUT in Onitsha, Anambra State.
I keep saying that FAKE news and massive disinformation will undermine Nigeria and any other country if NOT checkedmated with a sense of urgency and hard labor by the authorities. Period.

Absolutely well said! You're indeed a well-informed professional consultant who has a grasp of many management books and perspectives which deal with real world situations NOT the usual banal motivational speaking stuff that relies excessively on "hope." "Hope" on its own is baseless WITHOUT the sustainable ACTIONS to produce robust manifestations or RESULTS in our world of vibrational energy.
I appreciate a significant part of your insights here. I wish you a great day (cum work week ahead).
This statement is damning to every Nigerian youth out there. It's quite painful that you can summarize the inadequacy of a whole generation in one short sentence.
As much as you captured it in a brilliant way, I would have also wanted you to find a solution to it. You left it too "dark".
Abeg. Na beg I dey beg.
It's right there in my post.
Solution: "Self-awareness."
The average person on the street level MUST choose his or her struggle with CLARITY and STOP being envious and entitled while blaming the rich [or depending on handouts from genuinely wealthy folks is the society who have worked hard (and smart) to get to where they are]. The Internet is the BIGGEST library in world and nearly every solution mankind needs is online.
Just like you stated, wanting to be a "capitalist" when starting a business, BUT guilt-tripping the government and wealthy people to apply socialism on the other hand just doesn't cut... Although we know full well that the China government uses a dual economic system comprising of socialism and capitalism (and since 1980 when about 20% of China's overall population was very poor and still rose bicycles around [just like the India of 1980 with roughly the same percentage of poor people] and they are now doing quite well with the two economic systems or models because of the iron-grip the communist leadership of China has on the over 1.2 billion people.
TheBizGenius: Lol. I can hear the fire in your voice.
The average Nigerian talks about capitalism when he or she wants to do business, but thinks socialism (or communism) when thinking of how wealthy people should spend their money.
They believe once you are wealthy, your priority must now be to abandon your ambition and help others to close the gap between you and the average person, no matter how dumb and incompetent those average people are.
You can hear it when they talk about rich pastors, politicians, entrepreneurs and socialites.
To avoid them damaging your reputation if you're wealthy?
Keep doing "give aways", "N10k to 50 people", "borehole to 3 communities" and their evil and stupid mentality will be assuaged.
Then, you can move on with the accumulation of money through capitalism that you deserve through your competence and diligence.
Lol.
PS The problem is that Aliko doesn't do "small small" give aways to the Nigerian youths. Once he starts doing this, youths will stop talking about his monopolies.
#still laughing#
Succinctly put. That's the TRUE nature of the human animal when "self-awareness" is NON existent. The confirmation bias and lack of ethics exhibited by some people can be enervating.
While you can see the bum on some ladies and you, as a lady will wish you were that endowed, there are factors that may impede your bum from growing that big. Let us see some of them.
Genetics
one of the major determinants of any growth extent in a human is the genetics. Some individuals are blessed with good genes that help them burn fat easily, have fat deposits in the right places, while some have to strive extra hard to come close to the perfection they seek.
Most ladies endowed with big bums are gifted by nature, through genetics, to have immense fat deposits in the panniculus adiposus, as it is very well developed in the bum area.
Exercising
For the two groups of ladies – naturally gifted and acquired – in the big bum department, exercising is important. The panniculus adiposus is susceptible to sagging, therefore it needs the support of the gluteus muscle group, to hold it up and firm.
Ladies who exercise relentlessly to have big bum do so by tearing the muscles of the glute, which when healed, becomes bigger and stronger. Exercises such as squats, leg press, lunges, and deadlifts, help to stretch and work the glute muscles.
With this factor, consistency is the key.
Diet
Arguably, the second most important factor that determines the size of your bum. It affects how well rounded the bum is by providing nutrient – fats – to the panniculus adiposus and nourishing the gluteal muscles to help them heal faster and get bigger on healing.
The African diet for a bigger bum majorly comprises of Nigerian foods rich in healthy fats, proteins, and complex carbs. In addition, you can throw in some fruits and vegetables to help with digestion and metabolism.
10 African Foods That Makes Your Bum Bigger
Since one of the ways to achieve your goal of having a bigger bum is through diet, let us see some of the foods these African ladies eat that support their genes to give them the bum they flaunt. Before that, let us understand how these foods can affect the bum size.
The panniculus adiposus is a subcutaneous fat storage layer that gives the bum its natural curve and size. The more fat stored in this fat layer, the bigger and rounder the bum is. It also spreads to the thighs and may lead to the formation of cellulites under the skin, something you might not want, but you can be rid of. The best foods that help in fat deposition in this fat layer are proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats.
Now, let us see the African foods for bigger bums.
Meats
Meats are rich sources of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. This is what makes them aptly suitable for your bigger bum plan. Although different meats – chicken, turkey, chevon, and beef – have different caloric and nutrient values, no one counts them in Africa, you just eat and be filled.
If you are concerned about the amount of fats that may accompany the different meats into your body, you can choose to boil them with garlic, remove the skin off the turkey and chicken, and use good vegetable oil when frying.
You can also have these meats, or a specific one in a dish called pepper soup. This soup usually carries a prefix, depending on the type of meat used in preparing it; goat meat pepper soup, beef pepper soup, and so on. it is usually hot and spicy.
Soy products
Soy beans and its derivatives, soy cakes and soy milk, are excellent sources of proteins and fats. They also contain some fats that are stored in the adipose tissues, like the one that is around the bum.
Soy and its products are known to increase the production of the hormone, oestrogen in people who consistently consume it. This property helps it distribute fats to the right places as women are known to have more panniculus adiposus presence around the thighs, bum, and breasts.
Fish
Fish is a healthy source of fat and oil. Regardless of the type you are used to, it provides all nutrients in different quantities and helps to improve the storage of fats in the adipose tissue without causing health risks. The best fish to consume for this purpose, with great amount of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, include tilapia, catfish, salmon, mackerel, and many more.
In Africa, these fishes, especially catfishes, are used to prepare special soup dishes called catfish pepper soup or better still, point-and-kill. The fishes are killed on the spot and in their fresh state, used to make the spicy pepper soup.
Tilapia is a common accompaniment to the Ghanaian dish, Banku.
Rice
A staple in Africa, rice is a very popular food consumed by most households. It is made in different forms; jollof rice, coconut rice, fried rice, basmati rice, and so on. Rice is rich in carbohydrates and some protein. It is known to be so high in carbs that diabetic patients are advised to either cut down on or stop its consumption.
If you are bothered about the glycemic index and will like to consume something more health-friendly to you, you can consider Ofada rice and brown rice. They are excellent substitutes for white rice and will still aid in your quest for a bigger bum.
Banga Soup
One of the most popular soup of the Niger-Delta region of Nigeria, Banga Soup is a delicacy that is usually accompanied with starch. Sometimes, okra might be added to the soup, without leaving out beef, fish, Beletete leaves, banga spice, palm fruit, and so on.
With the assortment of ingredients, it provides a lot of calories as contained in the protein, carbohydrates, and fats sources contained in the soup. You can call it a concentrate of nutrients and you won’t be wrong.
Waakye
Waakye is a dish from Ghana that is made from rice and beans. It contains a rich amount of proteins and carbohydrate, which when in excess is stored in the adipose tissues of the body, including the bum, giving it a bigger and curvier outlook.
Waakye is usually served with side dishes such as fried plantain, avocado, spaghetti, or even garri.
Banku
Banku has received global recognition with its mentions in prominent international artistes’ songs. It is made from fermented corn and cassava, mixed into a dough. It is prepared with lots of hot pepper, onions, and tomatoes and is usually accompanied by grilled tilapia.
Corn and cassava are rich sources of carbs, they provide more than you can use. However, their caloric supply is complemented by tilapia, which provide proteins, giving your body a range of nutrients to use.
Melktert
This is a South African dish that is made of flour, milk, sugar, and eggs. It is usually finished off with cinnamon dusts and is a popular desert in South Africa.
This dish is dense in carbs, proteins, and fats due to the use of milk and eggs. The combination of ingredients will ensure your adipose tissue has enough fats to store, consequently giving you a bigger bum over time.
Boerewors
Boerewors are traditional South African sausages that comprise of beef, pork, and sometimes, lamb. It is usually barbecued and has a mixture of spices to go with it in its coiled shape. Due to the use of different meats, it is a protein dense dish that will do wonders to your bum.
Madesu
One of Congo’s popular dishes, Madesu is essentially a beans stew that is commonly eaten across Africa. In some parts of the continent, the beans stew is eaten with bread or fried fermented cassava, called garri. Some individuals prefer it with yam, and some, with potatoes.
Whatever you choose to eat the beans stew, Madesu with, it is tasty, and provides nutrients that are so dense, you may not eat any other food for the rest of the day.

casualobserver: Nigerians are not used to businesses operating at scale and efficiency. we are used to imported tokunboh rickety trucks, with bald tyres and the tank welded by local welders.
This is what happens when a man investS $20B in a business. I can bet you each of those brand new smart looking dangote trucks costs less or the same as the ricketty tokunboh fuel tankers. Thats barganing power of scale at work. when you are buying 10,000 trucks, the manufacturer can even sell to you at cost or even a loss knowing he will make his money on service parts. meanwhile you are buying tokunboh, the foreign dealer wants to make 20%, the nigerian dealer wants to make 30%. you will then fabricate the tank in Nigeria at more than the cost of a factory tank fabrication in china. Dangote will replace the trucks after 5 years and sell to you the one man retailer at the same price he paid for it new.
Nigerians think they are businessmen because in Nigeria no matter how inefficient you are you add 100% to your cost and somebody will buy, Nigerians dont understand business, everybody wants to be the owner of an inefficient small scale business.
Glimpsetv: Man Raises Alarm After Spotting Hundreds of Dangote Tankers, Sparks Monopoly Fears
A Nigerian man has raised concerns after recording hundreds of Dangote fuel tankers lined up on a highway. He claimed that the billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote, might be planning to dominate Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
According to reports, the new fleet of trucks owned by the Dangote Group runs on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Each truck is designed to transport refined fuel products such as petrol and diesel directly from the Dangote Refinery to filling stations across the country.
The company reportedly plans to deploy about 4,000 CNG-powered tankers in total. These trucks are not only fuel-efficient but also help reduce logistics costs when compared to diesel-powered vehicles.
This move, however, has stirred controversy among independent fuel marketers. Many believe it gives Dangote an unfair advantage that could lead to a monopoly in the petroleum distribution sector. Despite the criticism, Dangote Group insists that the decision is purely strategic and aimed at improving efficiency and cutting costs.
By handling its own logistics, Dangote is seeking to distribute fuel products directly — bypassing independent marketers who traditionally dominate the supply chain. This new system, which is expected to fully take off by August 2025, represents a major shift in Nigeria’s fuel distribution model.
With a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the Dangote Refinery is the largest in Africa and one of the biggest single-train refineries in the world. Its massive production scale has raised fears that it could control a significant share of the local market and influence fuel prices nationwide.
Industry groups such as the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) have warned that the move might cripple smaller marketers and cause job losses. The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has also clashed with the company over labor-related issues.
In response, Aliko Dangote has dismissed claims of monopoly, urging other investors to build their own refineries instead of “using the cry of monopoly to stall growth.”
The company also explained that its decision to invest in CNG-powered trucks and manage its own fuel distribution is a response to market challenges, including boycotts and what it described as “unfair competition” from fuel importation cartels.
Dangote further noted that over 30 refinery licenses have been issued to private companies in Nigeria — including BUA, Aradel, and Waltersmith — showing that the market remains open for competition.
He emphasized that the Dangote Refinery has transformed Nigeria into a net exporter of refined products, improving energy security and reducing dependence on imported fuels.
To promote transparency and broader ownership, Dangote also announced plans to list the refinery on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), allowing ordinary Nigerians to invest and own shares in the company.
Wealth is usually domiciled along the coast line of most seaboard countries.
Using the US as a grand example, New York, California and Texas have a lot more commerce and hence host a lot more wealthy individuals than hinterlands or land locked states.
Even within continents most land locked states are generally poorer the further away from the coast they are located. Countries like Mali and Burkina in west Africa and Zambia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho in the south.
This is due to International trade that evolved out of the sea.
monex: Kano is too populated and has a massive income disparity to feature on that list. The title of the stat is misleading. This is really a measure of Nigeria's middle class because an income of 200k per month is definitely in the top 20% (maybe 10% even) of Nigerians. Note that an income of 1 million naira per month is in the top 1% of Nigerians according to a BusinessDay April 2025 report.
Now, you can read that stat as follows:
86.4% of Lagos residents are among the top 20% (earn say 200k and above per month) wealthiest in Nigeria
58.1% of Edo residents are among the top 20% (earn say 200k and above per month) wealthiest in Nigeria
there is a reason the rich in Nigeria are called the "1% of the 1%". they are in the top 0.01%
That 20% figure would include the "HNI" as well who are within the top 1% of Individuals in Nigeria.
On the other hand, I'm aware that despite the income disparity, some of the Kano (and Kaduna) folks can be very rich in billions of Naira NOT billions of USD like the Forbes-listed Aliko Dangote and Abdulsamad Isiaku-Rabiu, BUT they don't like to make too much noise about it based off of their Islamic principles and perhaps for security reasons. Many rich farmers operating in the relatively safer areas of the North West for instance are very reserved but when you get to know their turn-over per hectare with their all-year round large-scale farming, you'll marvel.
yorosstores: All SW states aside Ekiti, follow join,
I'm aware that many wealthy Ekiti State folks who are professionals, business moguls and multimillionaires live in Lagos State, Ibadan in Oyo State, Akure (capital of Old Ondo State which used to include Ekiti), the FCT, the Diaspora in United States and United Kingdom. The Lagos-based Prince Julius Adelusi is just one of them I can mention to save time.
Perhaps with the new Ekiti State International Cargo Airport, many of them and their families will start paying attention to going back to their state for investments and property development. The well-managed Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort and Conference Center has been voted for 2 years in a row as the BEST resort in Nigeria far ahead of resorts in Lagos.
NO doubt, Lagos State with the top Forbes-listed USD billionaires and multimillionaires such as Otunba Mike Adenuga, 'Femi Otedola, Folornuso Alakija, Aliko Dangote, Alhaji Razak Okoya business mogul and founder of Eleganza Group, Tony Elumelu from Aniocha North LGA in Delta State and more, who all have investments and property in Lagos would feature on the top list.
Ogun too would feature prominently with the several USD multimillionaires and business moguls they have in Ijebuland/Remo, Abeokuta, etc.

The Scandinavian countries too have tall, blond-haired men and women so they are good swimmers and very athletic.
