adenigga: Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has described the United States, US, Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump as a consummate liar.
Soyinka said the former US president is a menace and a danger to the world.
He spoke with TheNEWS as part of activities to mark his 90th birthday.
According to Soyinka: “But he did one thing. He studied and he understood the American psyche.
“And he knew the right chord to tweak in order to get them on his side, to get them to believe anything that he says.
“I don’t think the world has ever known such a consummate liar like Donald Trump.”
Trump, a one term US president, is vying for a second term.
During his campaign in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump survived an assassination attempt, but the shooter was killed.
Professor Wole Soyinka isn't saying ANYTHING new here but ONLY emphasized what several keen American and non-American political observers (Whites and non-Whites) have been saying about the MANY lies and overt MISDEEDS of Donald Trump and his Rethuglicans. Many Americans too are already talking about introducing "age limits" for future Presidential elections to prevent what is being witnessed now with the performances of both Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
The first U.S. Presidential Debate that was organized by CNN in recently, CLEARLY showed an inconsistent Donald Trump and it was only Joe Biden's lacklustre performance (because of his age-related challenges and mumblings) that made it seem like Donald Trump did better. There have been several trending reactions by political analysts (majorly White people that I've seen) on many major U.S., Canadian, and British news networks that exposed Donald Trump's LIES and inconsistencies and some of these can still be viewed or gleaned online by the majorly very dishonest young Ibo ethnic bigots and semi-literate dweebs right from the first page who are ignorantly insulting W.S. on this thread and other NL threads devoted to W.S.
I've just added 5 VERY DETAILED Web sources from major international news sources from PBS, Time magazine, CNN, Rolling Stone magazine, and the BBC in the United States and the UK for everyone to CLEARLY see that Prof. Wole Soyinka was on point and wasn't telling telling lies or saying anything new in that very short newspaper interview excerpt. It's only a VERY sick illiterate that would blatantly call W.S. unprintable names here because he said the obvious thing that millions (even billions) of us on a global scale who are well-informed already know about former President Donald Trump and his highly disturbing LIES and inconsistent comments. Biden himself is no better as his health is shaky like I stated above.

nlfpmod: Microsoft confirms Crowdstrike update was responsible for issues
Microsoft spokesperson Frank X. Shaw has confirmed that “a Crowdstrike update was responsible for bringing down a number of Windows systems globally.”
“We are actively supporting customers to assist in their recovery,” he said in an emailed statement Friday.
President Biden’s team is in touch with Crowdstrike
President Joe Biden has been briefed on the CrowdStrike outage and his team has been in touch with CrowdStrike and impacted entities, according to the White House.
Biden is getting continued updates throughout the day and the administration is “standing by to provide assistance as needed,” the White House said.
This is a MASSIVE global technology glitch that affected several governments, including local and international businesses. Tbh, a Plan B emergency scenario is more than ever before needed "here and now" to avoid more unintended consequences down the road.
It's great that the Joe Biden administration actively followed up on this.
ALTERNATEID: My dear Dele, it was nice to see you again at chief Osoba's 80th birthday, just as it is to read your comments about my rejoinder to Reno's response to your condemnation of this administration.
Frankly speaking and putting sentiments apart, Reno's response to your article was a masterpiece in terms of facts assembled therein. I am always in awe of that young man's ability to research and succinctly put together his narratives. You may hate Reno, or be angry with him for his opinions but his facts are unassailable.
With me also I am surprised u also did not stay with the facts. U retorted that I hv advised and praised every govt since 1999. That is not true. I only acted as adviser in the Obj's administration , which remains one of the most successful since the advent of the 4th Republic. I did not play any significant role in the Yaradua's administration that succeeded Obj's.
I became an adviser for the second time in the Jonathan administration which was defeated by the Gen Buhari led APC. Jonathan's defeat was not because of any societal hardship or economic issues. Jonathan's administration led Nigeria to an economically prosperous Nation, taking our GDP to $500B, and an unprecedented number 1 position in Africa. Why Jonathan was "defeated" is another matter entirely which may not be known to u because of your remoteness to the inner core of political power play at that time. This will be a topic for another day.
My associations with Bukola Saraki and Peter Obi is in no way different from your current association with HE Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. All three were presidential aspirants or candidates of different parties at different times. Making any issues out of this is nothing but crass mischief. I am neither a member of the APC nor an adviser of the administration. I appreciate the bold initiatives President Bola Tinubu took to remove fuel subsidy, which was assented to by ALL candidates during the campaign. I also fully support the sectoral equalization of our forex market. Both reforms are responsible for the hardship our people are currently experiencing , but which I believe will be temporary judging by the strenuous efforts the govt is making towards ameliorating them. This not praise singing.
I do not count myself as a member of the opposition, hence I am able to be objective and understandingly supportive. I may not have had a hand in installing this govt but it is my country and I am a stakeholder in it. I do not pray for it to crash or go down. This cannot be an offense. We all are practitioners, players and known actors in this Amphitheater, no need to go personal. Let's keep criticisms rational, mature and professional.
Finally Dele let me publicly acknowledge and appreciate your generosity in granting me that much appreciated debt forgiveness of $20k. I could not afford it! But truly then, I never imagined we could lose that election. However, man proposes but God Almighty.
My dear Aburo, who I love and adore so much, I wish you well. God bless.

That's an impressive and mature response. In politics, ONLY permanent interests exist.
God1000: Former US president Barack Obama has told allies that Joe Biden needs to reconsider his reelection bid, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.
Obama believes that Biden’s path to victory has diminished and that the 81-year-old should “seriously consider the viability of his candidacy,” the newspaper said, citing people briefed on his thinking.
It said there was no immediate comment from Obama, who was in office while Biden was vice president from 2009 to 2017 and who remains hugely influential in the Democratic party.
Obama would be the most heavyweight Democrat so far to join a growing chorus in the party calling for Biden to drop out, following a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump.
Biden, who is isolating with Covid at his beach house, has rejected concerns about his age and fitness and insisted that he is staying in the race for the White House.
Pressure is mounting, though, with Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries also both reportedly meeting with Biden in recent days to warn that his candidacy threatens his party’s prospects in November’s election.
The 2024 US presidential election is shaping up to be a highly contentious race. Incumbent President Joe Biden is seeking re-election, despite internal and external pressures suggesting he might step aside.
There are ongoing discussions and debates within the Democratic Party about Biden’s candidacy, with some calling for a replacement candidate due to concerns over his electability against former President Donald Trump.
Trump remains a prominent figure in the Republican Party and is actively campaigning for a return to the White House. He continues to face legal challenges, including cases related to his business practices and claims of immunity from prosecution
As the election draws closer, the political landscape is filled with speculation and strategic manoeuvring from both major parties. Key issues, such as immigration, the economy, and social policies, are central to the campaigns, with both candidates vying for voter support in critical battleground states.
The 2024 US presidential election is scheduled to take place on November 5, 2024.

Haba, egbon! Please go through your Instagram posts. Your social media is virtually a shrine to Governor Adeleke. It is beneath you to deny it. This is a notorious fact!
Please, egbon, I make this an open challenge. If you have not used your social media profiles to praise Governor Adeleke at least fifty times, then take me to court! I will meet you there with documents. I am nothing if not a meticulous record keeper!
Even your own followers know this is a fact. But please, take me up on my challenge.
And what Tinubu project will I be looking for again? I live in a house that is worth almost $1 million. I bought another house worth nearly $1 million and gave it to my children through their mother in a trust. In a year, you yourself see me traveling to over 30 countries, either First Class or Business Class.
In my travels, I was received back-to-back by two consecutive British Prime Ministers, a Canadian Prime Minister and a Spanish Prime Minister. I was received in Iceland by their Minister for Tourism.
What can President Tinubu give me that I do not already have? Please make a more believable accusation.
Thanks again, and may God bless you.

Reno Omokri in responding to Dele Momodu allegations against him
Newlymarried: Some Irish citizens have gone on X to make it clear that they are not happy with foreigners relocating to their country.
They were reacting to a video of a Nigerian family of 7 leaving Lagos for Dublin, Ireland. The father of the family had relocated first and was granted asylum, after which he brought his wife and kids over. The wife documented their journey on social media and the Irish were not happy when they saw it.
The Irish themselves were economic migrants back in the 1800s to the United States, the Caribbean and Australia as a result of the poor harvests from Irish potatoes and more. Many poor Irish folks had to work for low pay in factories and as laborers on farms and mining sites, and often suffered from discrimination in the United States because of their accents and Catholic religion so they should stop the sanctimonious rants here.
However, it's time for those dudes hiding under assylums to stop it and not constitute a nuisance to their hosts. All those who have been granted assylums should also maintain low profiles instead of publicizing their "luck" for the world to see as this would attract scrutiny and envy. Period.
Even the so-called Kenyan protests led by GenZs against the Kenyan President Ruto that should otherwise have been peaceful led to massive violence and the destruction of a lot of government and private property including the vandalism and looting of shopping malls.
The End SARS protest was supposed to be peaceful but some fifth columnists among the youths took advantage of the gentility of the government at the Federal and State levels to unleash unprecedented destruction and looting of private businesses, residences, and malls in many states of Nigeria with Lagos State taking the huge brunt. Therefore, all planned protests must be prevented and if some stubbornly proceed, the Intelligence Agencies must deal ruthlessly with them. Some private businesses haven't recovered from that so-called EndSARs as of today because they didn't have proper insurance cover from the widespread arson, looting, and rapes.
The governments in Nigeria at the Federal and State levels must step up the massive deployment of NNPC CNG refill stations at the cheaper rate of N200 per standard cubic feet of CNG for cars and trucks which buyers are already enjoying, and CNG conversation centers so that the price of food items, transportation and cost of production will fall massively. CNG deployment is the way to go in the absence of the slow rollout of PMS being planned from Dangote Refinery and other refineries in PH, Warri, and Kaduna. With that there would have been NO need for the government to increase the minimum wage if CNG had been deployed earlier and massively in late 2023. It's not rocket science!
Kudos to the government agency in charge of coordinating the CNG deployment though for offering free CNG conversation for all road transport union members just this week. This'll enable them to get CNG from the newly constructed NNPC CNG refill stations in Lagos and Abuja which would lead to massive cuts in transport fares, cheaper food items and drugs, and less restiveness.
dre11: Ishaq Oloyede, registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), says some tertiary institutions in Nigeria were found to have illegally admitted candidates as young as 10 and 12.
The ministry of education earlier pegged the minimum age for university, polytechnic, and college of education admissions at 18.
Oloyede, during JAMB’s policy meeting in Abuja, spoke on why it became necessary to adopt a minimum age for admissions.
He said some universities had admitted candidates as young as 12 and 10 outside JAMB’s central admission processing system (CAPS).
Oloyede cited the case of a Nigerian institution he did not name and a postgraduate applicant who was looking to study in Germany.
He said the student, documented to have enrolled in the university at 12 to graduate at 15, was discovered after they attempted to pursue a postgraduate degree in Germany.
Oloyede said the European Union, whose scholarship grant the student attempted to apply for, had contacted the board to verify the student’s credentials.
“The candidate applied for a postgraduate scholarship under Erasmus Mundus. The body found it strange that the candidate’s date of birth was 2007,” he said.
“By her passport, she started studying at a university in Nigeria when she was 12 and graduated at 15. The selection committee contacted Nigeria to confirm whether the candidate studied at a university.
“The EU asked if it was possible to graduate candidates at such a young age.”
Oloyede said such cases could negatively affect the perception of the larger pool of degrees awarded by Nigerian tertiary institutions.
“In the next two to three years, the EU could tighten its requirements and all graduates of Nigerian universities would suffer it,” he said.
“We found that [JAMB] never admitted the candidate because she was underage. The university admitted and registered the candidate. I couldn’t respond to the EU because I was embarrassed. I didn’t know what to write.
“Ignorantly, the vice-chancellor confirmed that the student attended the school but that they weren’t the VC at that time.”
TheCable cannot independently verify the identity of both the student and the institution cited in Oloyede’s anecdote.
A child who begins basic school at 6 and undergoes 12 years of education is expected to be around 18 when they get into university.
At the policy meeting, Oloyede said JAMB was alarmed at the participation of a large number of underage candidates in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
“The enrolment of underage candidates is inflicting serious damage on the university and the education system,” he added.
FreeStuffsNG: If you are Yoruba. It's customary to give the honor of naming your first child, especially first grand child, to your father. It doesn't matter whether you both previously agree or not. You will both be grandparents someday too and she will be glad when your son honors you in like manner. That's the only way out now. However, like I stated, don't overthink it now, there's still time after the ceremony. What matters most is the name that makes the birth certificate and the popular one you will call him at home.
Botragelad: France have banned French female athletes from wearing hijabs at the Olympic Games sparking a huge backlash from activists.
France announced that it would prevent its athletes wearing the hijab in September of last year.
Now, Amnesty International has hit back at the decision which they describe as ‘discriminatory hypocrisy’.
Amnesty International said that the ban breached international human rights laws and that it prevented athletes from exercising their human right to play sport without discrimination of any kind.
Amnesty International and ten other organisations called on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to step in.
However, the IOC responded that overturning the policy was beyond its remit, explaining that ‘freedom of religion is interpreted in many different ways by different states.’
Visegrád 24 on X: “France has banned French female athletes from wearing hijabs while competing in the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics in Paris. 🇫🇷” / X
The IOC clarified that its own rules applied in the Olympic Village and therefore athletes would be permitted to wear headscarves saying: “There are no restrictions on wearing the hijab or any other religious or cultural attire.”
Anna Błuś, Amnesty’s International Women’s Rights Researcher in Europe said: “Banning French athletes from competing with sports hijabs at the Olympic and Paralympic Games makes a mockery of claims that Paris 2024 is the first Gender Equal Olympics and lays bare the racist gender discrimination that underpins access to sport in France.”
France is the only country in Europe to prevent headscarf wearing women from participating in most domestic sports competitions.
Rights groups have said that not only does the policy go against IOC’s guidelines but also international treaty obligations that France are required to uphold.
Although the UN have not directly addressed the ban, the UN Rights Office’s spokeswoman in Geneva said: “No-one should impose on a woman what she needs to wear or not to wear.”
She also warned such practices could have harmful consequences and said policies like this are only acceptable under really specific circumstances.
NLCreator: How Ooni Ogunwusi’s Companies Executed the Biggest Fraud in Nigeria’s Real Estate History — and Got Away With it
After his companies allocated apartments and land that existed only on paper to hundreds of investors, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi became the Ooni of Ife, making him highly connected culturally and politically and somewhat above the law. As if emboldened by the proverbial saying that ‘a king has dominion over all things’, hundreds of investors were never refunded. Gran Imperio Group’s multi-million-naira Essential Homes scheme is described by many as the biggest fraud seen yet in Nigeria’s real estate history.
In October 2014, Mrs Offiong (not real name) received some documents from Metropole Interproject Limited introducing the sale of a “one unit of three-bedroom corner piece bungalow apartment at South Pointe II Estate” at Ajah, Lagos, for N17,967,000 million. She was instructed to pay 50 percent of the cost if she accepted the offer.
Retiring at the top cadre in the civil service after 30 years, she did not hesitate to invest her gratuity because the supposed estate was in a prime location: the building’s specifications and the estate’s facilities as stated in the contract looked top notch; the delivery date was less than a year away in August 2015.
Shortly after paying the initial deposit of N8,983,500 million to Metropole Interproject Limited and a receipt bearing the name of its parent company, Gran Imperio Group, was issued to Mrs Offiong. On a scheduled visit to the site, Gran Imperio Group took subscribers to South Pointe One, instead of South Pointe II.
“They told us that South Point II was not ready yet, so they took us to South Pointe One to show us what two would look like when it was ready,” said Mrs Offiong’s son, James (not real name), who went with his mother to the site. “There was a bit of confusion that day. We suspected that something was not right but we calmed down when they told us about another estate that would be completed before South Pointe II.”
In a letter to subscribers in February 2015, Adiukwu Kechi, an official of the company, notified subscribers of the need to pay their next instalment. To get them to commit to completing their payments, although no land was shown to subscribers during the site visit, Kechi added: “We have been magnanimous to move you to a site that is beside South Pointe II and will be completed earlier than South Pointe II too, which is Golden Leaf Estate, and a final allocation will be issued too.”
MightySparrow: The works of experts debunk your claims. I will like you to listen to this clip, just find some of the references, especially those that more than a hundred years and read.
Besides, I have wondered when a babalawo told me that the Ifá Oracle and his own Sand for divination were the same. The Sand (I don't know the name) came from Arabia. I now found out that the same is practiced among igala, Igbo, Benin, Ebira.... All those Oòni mentioned. If these was not brought from the same origin, it must have been learned from the original owner. Who is this owner? Among all these playmates, here are similarities in language before the advent of Islam and Christianity that corrupt what we have now. From where these languages intersect?
More scientific reasoning than myths should be used in finding our history. You talk about Obi of Onitsha, I believe as the custodian of the culture and history of his people, certain things are known to him and are believed amongst his people. Wether you take it or not, this is their palace truth.
All of us, lower of the Niger, are of common origin. Dishonesty and superiority complex is all you see on blogs. They don't serve any scholarly usefulness.
@MightySparrow,
If you still recollect, we last had a major convo on the NL thread where the ancestral origins of the Doherty family (of Lagos Island and Ilaro). I had stated my findings afterwards that the patriach of the Doherty family was a Prince from Ilaro in present-day Ogun State.
I've only had a limited time to spend online everyday within the last few days and I also had to take the time and effort to give you this detailed feedback with references that you can then usecm to unveil legit historical info on the "origins of Ifa divination" and more.
First off, I appreciate your sharing of the audio recording above with me. I listened to it with an open mind as a veteran of the advanced history of Nigeria, West Africa, and more since the 1980. So, I'm very well-informed on the subject matter here and I CLEARLY gave and attached to my post that you quoted specific screenshots from books over 100 years old detailing out the meaning of the DEROGATORY word used to describe the primitive bush dwelling tribes that engaged in cannibalism East of River Niger which is Ibo, Onigbo (as used derogatorily by the Igalas/Yoruba), and Onye Igbo (as used derogatorily by Asaba and Onitsha indigenes) to describe those primitive bush dwellers.
Second, I want to emphasize again that based on how long I have been into this since 1980, I didn't just stumble on history from "blogs" like you seemed to infer in your post. My knowledge comes from real world research and reading of several credible historical books and archival materials from historians like the European, Reverend George Basden who lived in Onitsha as a Missionary for 34 years and wrote the book "Among the Ibos of Nigeria," Austin J. Shelton who wrote the book entitled: "The Ibo-Igala Borderland," the great Prof. Toyin Falola, Professor Banji Akintoye and Professor Jide Osuntokun (the former Nigerian Ambassador to Germany) who are both iconic sons of the Ekiti folks and Yorubaland. So, if you had carefully read and digested my earlier post which you quoted properly, there is NO where in that my original post that experts disagree with me.
Third, I listened CAREFULLY to the recording of the young man who was code-switching between Yoruba and English on the "Relationship between Benin and Yorubas" and he DIDN'T say anything that contradicted my position. Any credible historian and lover of archaeology, MUST be open to all historical variables and NOT engage in "confirmation bias" like a lot of the younger ones online and offline like to do by engaging in the copying and pasting of non-credible information from crappy blogs and poorly written secessionist propaganda Websites.
So, in my last post that you quoted here, I stated in addition to other historical specifics how the few Yoruba-derived words found in Ibo as LOAN words got there just a few hundred years ago or within the last 500 years via the Igalas people (a Yoruboid group) who are also indigenous to Delta, Anambra, and the Northern part of Enugu State. The Igalas greatly changed the "historiology" of the Northern areas of the South East of Nigeria and it was the Igalas who also FIRST introduced the RED CHIEFTAINCY CAP into the Nsukka area of Enugu from where it spread to other parts of the Ibo South East. Infact the Nsukka area was under the Attah of Igala and I have attached video interviews (which you can find in my other post directly above) from Igala kings in the Northern parts of Enugu State in this post BELOW and also the video interview with an Onitsha high Chief on why Onitsha folks DON'T call themselves Ibos because of their multiple ethnic origins starting from the 1600s from Igala, Bini, and Ibo (some Ogidi, and Ojoko migrants came in later to join them).
Did YOU know that in 2017, the late Attah of Igalaland, HRM Michael Ameh Oboni granted an interview to the Sunday Punch newspaper where he clearly stated that before an Attah of Igala is crowned from any of the ruling houses, Ifa divination is first of all done by Ifa priests (Babalawos)?
He also stated in that exclusive interview that Igala people and language came into existence through the FUSION of a group of people who migrated along the banks of River Benue and got to the confluence of the River Niger where they met with a significant number of Yorubas and then the Edos. That was how the Igala language was formed over the last 600 years. This is ALSO CLEARLY why Igala language is classified by linguists as a Yoruboid language because it contains a lot of Yoruba words in it to such an extent that Igala contains many Yoruba words in it (than even the few loan Yoruba words in Ibo). I'm emphasizing here and now that the Yoruba language and words in the Igala language got there as a result of the Yoruba bloodlines that FUSED into the larger Igala folks who consisted of more than one ethnic group. The Igalas share direct boundaries with the Ibo areas in Anambra and Enugu States.
The presence of Ifa divination via Ifa Priests or Babalawos, etc, in Igalaland is as a result of the Yoruba connection and worldwide, credible historians acknowledge Yorubaland to be the ORIGIN of the IFA divination.

With reference to the comments of the Obi of Onitsha, (Onitsha was first settled in the year 1550 (450 years ago) which is relatively recent in the history of African and Nigerian migration), the Obi of Onitsha said in a 2018 Ofala Festival documentary video that I watched back then that he has Bini, Igala, and Ibo ancestry and gave an account of how just in 1550, the Igala folks ferried with their boats his ancestors who came originally from Idu (Benin) across the River Niger from the Asaba area after being told by the Igala fisherman of the presence of fertile land in what is NOW Onitsha. Watch the video BELOW to grasp what I'm saying here.
"Reasons Why Onitsha People Do NOT Call Themselves Ibos"
The Asaba population foundation too is ORIGINALLY of Igala male descent who went by the name of Nnebisi whose father was a full-blooded Igala man from the present Kogi State who impregnated a young maiden from Agbakuba village in Nteje which is one of the historically Igala-associated communities now in Anambra State. Nnebisi of Asaba himself married an Igala woman being that his father was an Igala. The nearby town of Illah also has Igala ancestral roots which even Asaba traditions CLEARLY corroborate.
Asaba people of Delta State have Igala Father and Mother
Kog45: Dey there….Olusola Saraki married a Christian,General Abdullahi Adagba married a Christian,General Tunde Idiagbon married a Christian,General Abdulkareem Adisa married a Christian,Prof Oba married a Christian and these are prominent Ilorin sons and I want to tell you that in these families you see some of their children practicing Christianity but guess what religion Wahala is for the poor.

I see some folks that I personally know in those pictures here... Mama Saraki lived a fulfilled life. Her translation calls for some reflection of what legacies we all want to leave behind when the cycle ends.
Goodvibes007: Same as Ilorin people. They intermarry as well. It's not uncommon to find Christians and Muslims inter marrying in Ilorin or any where in Kwara state in general.
General 'Tunde Idiagbon was married to a Christian woman (Kunle Idiagbon's mum) who he wanted to convert to Islam back in the day.
I know a few Ilorin indigenes who are Christians but the vast majority are practicing Muslims who prefer marrying fellow Muslims
YoungBlackRico: Definitely not all parts of Yoruba, even those two states you mentioned, I've lived in their capitals and I have never come across anyone eating this thing
@YoungBlackRico,
I appreciate your insightful feedback here. It confounded me as well that such a cuisine exists among a few Yoruba individuals or communities (but it seems from some posts here that some older folks in the rural communities from back in the day ate that caterpillar dish as can be deduced from the posts of two different NL posters here who gave credit to their grandmothers for cooking the caterpillar-based soup which they both said tasted good). More insightful is that folks in the Middle Belt, South of South and South Eastern states also eat this caterpillar delicacy.
They even individually gave multiple Yoruba names (up to 3) on this thread for this butterfly larvae (caterpillar) delicacy. As an OG who likes to sample cuisines from a variety of cultures while traveling internationally, It's interesting to discover that more food varieties exist in multiple regional locations in Nigeria and indeed around the world.
iwaeda: Obe egusi ati kainikani, very sweet. Obe wa ni Kwara. You reminded me of my granny.
That's incredible! This thread is indeed revealing. Are you inferring that parts of Yorubaland eat this butterfly larvae (caterpillars) as part of their cuisine?
@Vehintolar too calls it "moni moni" and posted like you on this thread that his granny served this as well.
LocalFARMERS: This Caterpillar delicacy is loved by many. It is an intercontinental meal. It is consumed by People from around the World. From Africa, Asia, Europe etc. Within Africa, it is a special meal in West African, Central Africa and East African Countries.
This is an expensive meal in Most 5 star hotels in Nigeria and abroad. A plate of this Caterpillar delicacy is in hundreds of thousands in Hotels like Nicon Hiltop, Sheraton, Protea etc. For local consumption, this Caterpillar is also expensive. During the season, a Mudu goes for 10k upward. At this period of it's scarcity, a Mudu goes for over 50k
This is majorly found and consumed in Kaduna, Niger, Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Kogi, Kwara, Calabar etc
I watched the full video and it's stunning that some folks in parts of Nigeria are breaking the boundaries of what is conventionally eaten. I can't eat foods cooked with caterpillars as seen in the video (such as the Egunsi (Egusi) soup with caterpillars). I'd rather take an enriched Egunsi (Egusi) soup with eggs in it in a worse case scenario if there's no white meat (turkey, chicken since I don't eat red meat) in the Egusi soup mix... My taste buds won't agree with that caterpillar soup.
Babanews: In the age of social media, certain individuals manage to capture the public’s attention and become overnight sensations. One such figure is Lulu Menziwa, a South African teacher whose bold fashion choices and unapologetic attitude have made her a controversial yet fascinating personality.
Lulu Menziwa, also known by her birth name Lungile Buhlebenkosi Ntshangase, hails from KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
She works as a teacher, but it’s not her teaching skills that have thrust her into the limelight—it’s her wardrobe.
Lulu’s fashion sense is anything but conventional.
She confidently flaunts figure-hugging outfits, often featuring low necklines, tight skirts, and bold patterns.
While some admire her confidence, others argue that her attire is inappropriate for an educator.
The debate rages on: Is it empowering self-expression or a breach of professionalism?

The cryptocurrency boom has created more billionaires this year than in 2023, with 17 emerging, according to Forbes’ 2024 World Billionaires List, up from nine in 2023.
The top 10 of them are as follows, gathered by the digital news platform:
Changpeng Zhao (Binance) Changpeng Zhao, also known as CZ, is a well-known Chinese-Canadian businessman who founded and acts as CEO of Binance. Based on trading volume, Binance is currently the biggest cryptocurrency exchange globally.
Based on company records and interviews with former staff members, CZ’s share in Binance is valued at approximately $33 billion, or a startling $32.5 billion.
Brian Armstrong (Coinbase) Armstrong, who together with Fred Ehrsam co-founded Coinbase in 2013, owns the largest share (18%) in the business.
Brian Armstrong’s fortune has expanded thanks to Coinbase, which has benefited from the growing acceptance and value of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin through larger trading volumes, transaction fees, and exchange commissions.
Giancarlo Devasini (Tether) In addition to holding the position of Chief Financial Officer, Devasini is most likely the biggest individual stakeholder in Tether, the biggest cryptocurrency issuer (Stablecoin).
Stablecoins are virtual currencies that are mostly used as a medium of exchange and are based on the value of regular assets like the US dollar. $9.2 billion is his estimated net worth.
Michael Saylor (MicroStrategy, Bitcoin) As the leading cryptocurrency billionaire of the year with MicroStrategy, Michael Saylor has made enormous gains thanks to the roughly 500% increase in MicroStrategy’s shares after he turned the company into a bitcoin-focused organisation.
Currently, the company is the world’s largest corporate bitcoin holder with over 193,000 bitcoins, while Saylor expects to sell about $200 million worth of MicroStrategy stock. Saylor personally has 17,732 bitcoins.
Paolo Ardoino (Tether) Paolo Ardoino, who has about a 20% ownership position in Tether, serves as the company’s CEO and public face.
After developing his computer programming skills at several businesses, he first worked as a senior software developer at Bitfinex, Tether’s sister company, in 2014.
Jean-Louis van der Velde (Tether) The current CEO of Tether, Paolo Ardoino, and Van der Velde, the former CEO of Tether, are estimated to have the same net worth and ownership.
Both are thought to own 20% of the company and are vital in overseeing Tether’s strategic ties with banks and regulators. Van der Velde is a well-known representative of the corporation.
Chris Larsen (Ripple, XRP) The estimated net worth of the co-founder and ex-CEO of Ripple is $3.2 billion. In addition to purportedly possessing over 2.8 billion XRP tokens and close to $1 billion in cash assets, he apparently owns an 18% share in the business.
Fred Ehrsam (Coinbase, Paradigm) Along with Brian Armstrong, Fred Ehrsam co-founded Coinbase in 2012. He still sits on the board and owns roughly 5% of the company’s equity despite departing in 2017. He was a co-founder of Paradigm in 2018, a cryptocurrency investment firm that currently oversees more than $8 billion in assets.
Coinbase returned to profitability with $100 million in net profits last year, despite revenue dropping to $2.9 billion from $7.8 billion during the previous cryptocurrency price bubble in 2021. This contrasts significantly with a $2.6 billion net loss in 2022.
Matthew Roszak (Bitcoin, Ethereum) Since 2010, Matthew Roszak has been one of the early adopters of Bitcoin and has earned an estimated net worth of $3.1 billion, mostly from his early investments in different cryptocurrency businesses.
Jed McCaleb (XRP sales) The first significant Bitcoin exchange, Mt. Gox, was formed in 2010 by early cryptocurrency pioneer Jed McCaleb, who later sold it before it was compromised.
He made the majority of his money by selling the 9 billion XRP tokens he was given when he co-founded Ripple in 2012, but he left the company due to conflicts with other founders. After creating Stellar, a rival to Ripple, in 2014, McCaleb sold his last XRP holdings in 2022 and is now concentrating on funding Vast, an initiative to explore space.
perfri: When a bank grants a credit facility to a customer and the customer brings his house as collateral. the bank has 2 basis for valuing the property which is OMV(Open market value) and FSV (Forced sale value). OMV is the estimated price that an asset or property would sell for on the open market between a willing buyer and a willing seller. while FSV iis the estimated amount that an asset or property would sell for in a forced or distressed sale. it is on the latter that banks sell properties to realise the loan that the customer failed to pay. i dont think any fraud was committed here.
I like the reference you made to OMV and FSV as it would help those reading this thread to get a better grip of the High Court judgement here.
But in the light of the High Court judgement by Justice Ibironke Harrison, the "old generation" bank committed FRAUD. On the other hand, there have been a couple of instances where entrepreneurs take their business plans to banks to raise extra funds for business expansion ONLY to get DENIED of those loans by the bankers with the excuse that the business model is unworkable. Shortly afterwards, the loan seekers end up seeing their unique and exact business plans getting executed to the "T" by the bankers or someone else close to the bankers.
It's in this light that I stated in my FIRST post here that SOME bankers have greed embedded in their subconcious.
RIGHT below is the excerpt from Justice Ibironke Harrison's court judgement which CLEARLY affirmed that the sale of the Ikoyi property was done in BAD FAITH with the EVIDENCE of FRAUD by the bank as seen in the bolded section:
A Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, yesterday, ordered an old generation bank to refund to the beneficiaries of the estate of Otunba Adedoyin Ogunde N112.5million over the undervaluation and sale of their property located at Moore Road, Ikoyi.
Justice Ibironke Harrison gave the order while delivering judgment, in a suit filed by beneficiaries of the deceased Otunba Adedoyin’s estate over the bank’s gross undervaluation of his property and sale of the same on the account of his indebtedness to it.
In her judgment, Justice Harrison held that the sale of the deceased’s property at No. 6, Moore Road, Ikoyi, Lagos by the bank was in bad faith and that the property was grossly undervalued.
The court held that the fact that a customer owes a bank was no reason to fling the customer’s property at a ridiculous rate simply to realize the debt owed, adding that “sale at a price that is so low is evidence of fraud.”
We'll see what happens in the Upper Court as to whether the High Court judgement will be overturned or not.
