https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZ-mSIOcbTQ?si=S9S8PJp_ALNtBxWz Protesters in UK loot shops as Starmer vows far-right rioters will ‘regret’ action Protesters in UK loot shops as Starmer vows far-right rioters will ‘regret’ action UK leader Keir Starmer warned far-right protesters on Sunday they would “regret” participating in England’s worst rioting in 13 years, as disturbances linked to the murder of three children earlier this week flared across the country for a fifth day. Masked anti-immigration demonstrators smashed several windows at a hotel that has been used to house asylum seekers in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Unrest related to misinformation about the mass stabbing last Monday in the northwestern English seaside town of Southport has impacted multiple towns and cities, with anti-immigration demonstrators clashing with police. The violence is posing an early major challenge for Starmer, who was elected only a month ago after leading Labour to a landslide win over the Conservatives. “I guarantee you will regret taking part in this disorder. Whether directly or those whipping up this action online, and then running away themselves,” Starmer said in a TV address. He added that there was “no justification” for what he called “far-right thuggery” and promised to bring the perpetrators “to justice”. Footage aired on the BBC showed rioters forcing their way into a Holiday Inn Express in Rotherham. They also pushed a burning bin into the building. It was not clear whether asylum seekers were inside. In the northeastern English city of Middlesbrough, hundreds of protesters squared up to riot police carrying shields. Some threw bricks, cans and pots at officers. The fresh disturbances came after more than 90 people were arrested on Saturday following skirmishes at far-right rallies in Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, Blackpool and Hull, as well as Belfast in Northern Ireland. Rioters threw bricks, bottles and flares at police — injuring several officers — looted and burnt shops, while demonstrators shouted anti-Islamic slurs as they clashed with counter-protesters. The violence is the worst England has seen since the summer of 2011, when widespread rioting took place following the police killing of a mixed-race man in north London. “We’re now seeing it (trouble) flooding across major cities and towns,” said Tiffany Lynch of the Police Federation of England and Wales. Riots first flared in Southport on Tuesday night following Monday’s frenzied knife attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance party in the northwest coastal city, before spreading up and down England. – ‘Wake-up call’ – They were fuelled by false rumours on social media about the background of British-born 17-year-old suspect Axel Rudakubana, who is accused of killing a six, seven, and nine-year-old, and injuring another 10 people. Police have blamed the violence on supporters and associated organisations of the English Defence League, an anti-Islam organisation founded 15 years ago whose supporters have been linked to football hooliganism. Agitators have targeted at least two mosques, and the UK interior ministry announced Sunday it was offering new emergency security to the Islamic places of worship. The rallies have been advertised on far-right social media channels under the banner “Enough is enough”. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2024/08/protesters-in-uk-loot-shops-as-starmer-vows-far-right-rioters-will-regret-action/amp/ Yesterday it was Sunderland and today it's Middlesbrough and cars are burn. Watch the videos of white looting shops been following these unfolding events in the UK on major news networks since 4 days ago. It's been horrendous violence and lootings in some areas tbh. It's also time for a global strategy to monitor fake news online being spread by right wing organizations and other groups to prevent protests from escalating into pure violent and lootings. My buddy Akin is a member of the English Defence League being of mixed Yoruba-Nigerian and English parentage but I hope this isn't gonna escalate into attacks or resentments on biracial folks in the organization. |

Islie:This is great! I'm glad these idiots were caught. This is exactly how the international fraudster called Emmanuel Nwude the so-called Owelle of Abagana, his wife and a few cohorts defrauded a Brazilian bank in the 1990s in what became the third biggest bank fraud in history running into millions of USD ($242 million). The idiot with his chieftaincy titles went on a spending spree purchasing skyscrapers on Allen Avenue, Lagos, and was building houses in Lagos and his Anambra home state. I remember he had massive shares in Union Bank as a director purchased with the proceeds of the advanced fee fraud stolen from the Brazilian bank. He was celebrated in the soft cell magazines as a big boy and was even elected into the House of Reps, but when the INTERPOL finally got a hold of him in partnership with Nigerian intelligence teams, he was toast! That episode is one of the MAJOR reasons why I don't believe the supposed sources of wealth of these young people because many are drug barons with Methamphetamine labs that have been busted by the NDLEA as widely published in the mass media in housing estates in Lagos, Abuja, Asaba, and their Anambra towns such as Nnewi, Obosi, Ozubulu, Ihiala, etc. Some are international fraudsters like this Emmanuel Nwude guy, Obinwanne Okeke otherwise called Invictus, and Hush Puppy, so, it's very important to know peoples sources of sudden money before hailing them as examples of genuine entrepreneurs. Period. https://www.pulse.ng/lifestyle/emmanuel-nwude-sold-an-imaginary-airport-for-dollar242-million/ |
Newlymarried:Oba Adejuyigbe Adefunmi of Oyotunji was a delight to watch in the hit Netflix documentary called Beyond Africa on the Yoruba Diaspora spread through the infamous trans-Atlantic slave trade and he spoke about how Oyotunji community members in South Carolina led by his own biological father who were ALSO members of the African-American iconic "Black Panther Movement" in the United States were FIRED up in the fight against racial segregation in the U.S. Professor Wole Soyinka and other iconic Yoruba leaders were featured in that Netflix documentary. He'll be greatly missed! |
spiSeyi:I like the way you made your fantastic rebuttals there about the role that the iconic Professor Wole Soyinka played in bringing and supporting GEJ into power as a President of Nigeria which is indeed a FACT of history, but I disagree that the speech was "empty." It was NOT. It takes effective listening and reading to pick the key points up without confirmation bias. There were deliberate lootings of private businesses and destruction of public utilities especially in the far Northern states and Edo where a Church warehouse was raided with all the bags of rice stolen by unruly criminals so I can understand why Soyinka spoke about the use of live bullets, but the live bullets come as a last resort if the security agencies get almost overwhelmed like what happened in Kenya when youngsters invaded the Parliament building via the barricades and the police had to open fire on some of them. Just like many Diasporans who were staying up to listen to the speech, I was getting impatient myself for the first 6 minutes because I expected him to hit the nail on the head, but the Nigerian President indeed touched on some of the major specifics which is the introduction of the cheaper CNG deployments and free or low-cost CNG kits for over 1 million commercial vehicles belonging to NURTW which is ongoing and would lower the cost of transportation of people and foods by over 60 percent. Lagos State too is set to launch 500 CNG and electric mass transit buses to lower the cost of transportation. Already, I had read online last month that as of May 30, 2024 the mega NNPC CNG refill station in Lagos State had been launched and those whose cars and trucks had already been converted to dual CNG/PMS were already buying cheaper CNG fuel of N200 per standard cubic feet and the male and female drivers who were interviewed were happy at the extra savings made when compared to the more expensive PMS usage. So, the intention will be to use CNG to drive down hyperinflation because it's cheaper than even PMS. Price control mechanisms will have to be put in place to ensure that the market leaders drop the price of food items after all the NURTW vehicles all over Nigeria have been fully converted to CNG. Since May 2024, up to 12 NNPC CNG refill stations had already been commissioned in Lagos and Abuja so it's clear that the government has been doing a lot to deploy the cheaper CNG and reduce inflation because the high cost of transportation is a major driver of hyperinflation in Nigeria. The #4 Keypoint BELOW is what would bring down inflation with the cheaper CNG fuel station deployments and conversation of over 1 million commercial vehicles to use CNG. If Dangote Petrochemical Refinery starts producing PMS in August 2024, any excess PMS or AGO that is produced will be exported to earn more FX for the Central Bank of Nigeria. Back in the late 1970s and early part of the 1980s when the refineries were working optimally with regular TAM every 2 years, Nigeria was exporting refined PMS and AGO before the military guys came in and allowed the refineries to get destroyed under their military dictatorships so as to allow they and their cronies to import PMS and diesel which turned these guys into overnight multimillionaires. ~~~~~~~~~ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcrZhdkvi2M ~~~~~~~~~ 4. OIL AND GAS “Our once-declining oil and gas industry is experiencing a resurgence on the back of the reforms I announced in May 2024 to address the gaps in the Petroleum Industry Act. Last month, we increased our oil production to 1.61million barrels per day, and our gas assets are receiving the attention they deserve. Investors are coming back, and we have already seen two Foreign Direct Investments signed of over half a billion dollars since then.” “Fellow Nigerians, we are a country blessed with both oil and gas resources, but we met a country that had been dependent solely on oil-based petrol, neglecting its gas resources to power the economy. We were also using our hard-earned foreign exchange to pay for, and subsidise its use. To address this, we immediately launched our Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (CNG) to power our transportation economy and bring costs down. This will save over two trillion Naira a month, being used to import PMS and AGO and free up our resources for more investment in healthcare and education.” “To this end, we will be distributing a million kits of extremely low or no cost to commercial vehicles that transport people and goods and who currently consume 80% of the imported PMS and AGO.” “We have started the distribution of conversion kits and setting up of conversion centres across the country in conjunction with the private sector. We believe that this CNG initiative will reduce transportation costs by approximately 60 per cent and help to curb inflation.” |

dre11:The Journalists at Gazette are indeed very notorious for FABRICATED and sensational embellishment of stories. How can these creeps in the Gazette FALSELY claim that Lagos State gave the land for "FREE" to Dangote? The Lekki Free Trade Zone is NOT free land and all leased lands for 99 years must be paid for. Only an uninformed person would believe that land that is 7 times BIGGER than Victoria Island in Lagos State was given for free! All other multimillion USD manufacturing companies paid for the use of Lekki Free Trade Zone, so, Dangote Petrochemical Refinery will NOT be an exception. The kind of journalism these guys at Gazette play appeals to a lot of simpletons who jump in to make comments WITHOUT knowledge and analyses. This is why people have to ALWAYS read between the lines these days when reading Gazette. It's time for the Government's at all levels to deal decisively with FAKE news and online or offline defamation of character coming from some news publications for deliberately misleading the entire public with sensationalism in the headlines and the body of stories they publish! The Gazette type of investigative journalism is a bloody scam that seeks time and time again to manipulate the impressionable readers and this is NOT the type of investigative journalism that the iconic Edo-born Dele Giwa, Odion Akhaine, Kunle Ajibade, and Bayo Onanuga to name a few investigative journalists from the 1980s to the 1990s brutal military dictatorship era practiced. Dele Giwa and members of his Newswatch team like Ray Ekpu were favorites of mine back in the 1980s and were a delight to read. |
ceejay80s:@Ceejay80, I have been a veteran member of Nairaland since 2005, so I know you here just like I know a lot of NL monikers. I know you were born in Lagos and I remember you even said recently to someone on a thread that I read that some of your male and female family members are married to Yoruba folks and you have never hidden this fact. You should know better not to openly say he "stole" Lagos State money and is from Osun State because you could be easily tracked for online defamation of character and charged to court. Moreover like I stated in my first post, the Awori-Yoruba indigenes of Lagos State migrated from Ile Ife in Osun State led by Olofin Ogunfunminire and others. The white cap chiefs of Lagos Island are his direct descendants through his son's and they are called the Idejos or landowners... NOT even the Oba of Lagos Island owns that land. Now, Aliko Dangote himself said the land he leased for 99 years within the Lekki Free Trade Zone for $100 million USD (which is 7 times BIGGER than Victoria Island in Lagos State) was got at a good bargain and these details have been in the public domain so, it's NOT new and there is NO embezzlement of money here. How much is $100 million USD anyway. But in reality all monies have to be accounted for but it's WRONG to just blatantly conclude that Bola Tinubu or Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stole the money or embezzled the 100 million USD like a lot of the posters on this thread with Ibo South East origins are FALSELY posting here. It amounts to an open display of relentless hatred and people of conscience are taking note of these posts. Go back and read my post again because I edited it because of a typographic error. Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji was Tinubu's adopted SON and she is from the larger Tinubu family. Traditionally in Yorubaland going back to centuries past, people are adopted into families WITHOUT the need for any courts. Of course these days, courts are needed to formalize these things. There are FALSEHOODS and urban legends being spun around by haters online about Bola Tinubu, so, you have to be careful about following these FALSE narratives. Bola Tinubu remains a Lagosian because he was born on Lagos Island just like Alhaji Abdulaleef Jakande was born on Lagos Island and he became the two-term Governor of Lagos State from 1979 to 1984 alongside his Deputy-Governor, Alhaji Abdulrafiu Jafojo who is actually an Awori-Yoruba from Lagos State after Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, had endorsed him by lifting his hands up in 1979. |
ceejay80s:You people should STOP spreading this FALSE and HIGHLY defamatory information. You are all sounding like a broken record and smacks of relentless hate speech. For your information, the now President Bola Tinubu was born on Lagos Island just like the first civilian Governor of Lagos State in 1979, Alhaji Abdulaleef Jakande whose two parents are ORIGINALLY from Omu Aran in Kwara State was born on Lagos Island, so he too is a Lagosian. The original meaning of a Lagosian is someone who has his roots on Lagos Island as an indigene... NOT even Lagos State! Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji who was a respected international business woman and Iya Oloja General of Lagos was his adopted mother who is ORIGINALLY from the Tinubu family, so that settles it. (Yoruba folks on the Lagos Island have a habit of adopting other competent people into their families who then take up their family names). This is the reason why she nominated her granddaughter Folasade Tinubu to be the next Iya Oloja. For your information, the Awori-Yoruba ancestors [they were led by Olofin and others from Ife, now in Osun State. Awori means "the sacrificial plate has sank"]who are indigenes of 17 out of the 20 Local Government Areas of Lagos State with Awori-Yorubas extending right into Ogun State migrated from Ile Ife in Osun State over 700 years ago. The Ijebu-Yorubas are indigenes of 3 Local Government Areas in Lagos State (Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki and also Ajah are Ijebuland extending right into Ogun State as well), so, what is all these condescending emphasis by some of you Ibos on somebody coming from Osun State? You folks are sounding ridiculous tbh with this constant attacks on Osun without realizing that even a few years ago, all the Awori-Yoruba kings in Lagos and Osun State led a powerful delegation to visit the current Ooni of Ife in Osun State as part of their historical connection with their ancestral roots in Ife or dialectically Ufe. The videos of that historic visit by the Awori Oba's are still online or on YouTube and their family compounds exist in Ile Ife till today. Bola Tinubu is a bonafide Lagos Island indigene. Period. |
Kobojunkieee:There was NO can of worms opened on the Lagos State Government. Aliko Dangote even said he got the land (which is a whopping 7 times BIGGER than Victoria Island in Lagos State) at a bargain of $100 million and all these issues have been in the public domain. The Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) is a prime international business and investment location that has attracted a lot of multi-million USD manufacturing companies since it was conceptualized by the then Governor Bola Tinubu administration right up to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration. |
OLAADEGBU:These Rethuglicans are cracking me up tbh... ![]() |

bluebay:Margaret Thatcher was the iconic Prime Minister of United Kingdom back in the 1980s and she was known as the "iron lady." I still remember how she ordered the invasion of the Falkland Islands which Argentina was claiming back in the 1980s so she was NO push over. Second, Angela Merkel has been in charge of the German political leadership as well and Germany is the largest economy in Europe. Even Liberia has had Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf as a President. America is long overdue for a female President because to be honest, men generally have done a bad job in fueling global tensions which have led to hyperinflation and it's getting enervating. The stars are aligned for the first female POTUS and Kamala Devi Harris seems set to win not just the popular votes but the major collegiate votes. Once the Presidential debates begin, she'll bring in her gift-of-the-garb as a U.S. attorney into play in the debates. Americans hate being blatantly lied to and Kamala will bring up all the overt FALSEHOODS that Trump has been dishing out to the fore. |
InfoGuru118:Another case of murder by domestic staff. This has been going on for years now and it's very important to vet or do thorough background checks on all members of staff. This is something that I don't joke with. Phone numbers, credible next-of-kin details, police department vettings, etc, are VERY important here. Most of all, treat your staff right so that if there is danger, they will be the first to let you know and learn the principles of emotional intelligence so that you can live in harmony with everyone. Be FAIR but FIRM in all your interactions with people. My sincere condolences to the family of the Professor. |
caye:@Caye, I CLEARLY stated in my post that there are 4 Greenfield refineries (out of all the refineries in Africa!) Can you please try to be less impulsive and NOT MISREAD my original post here? Just extrapolate and understand my post. I myself have worked in a major IOC since the 1990s, so, as of 2024, my FACTS are clear. Do you know what a Greenfield refinery is? A "Greenfield refinery" is a large or small refinery which is built on UNDEVELOPED lands and this is different from a "Brownfield refinery" which is built on already DEVELOPED lands. So, only 4 Greenfield refineries exist out of all the many refineries that exist in Africa. |
Ifybwoy:You made absolutely NO sense in your ridiculous post which I had to edit out. You must be really DAFT to have written in your post (that a fully grown up man like me who is a professional and who you have never met) would be collecting your imaginary N30k pittance! There are some of us on this Website who are financially well-off adults and come from various professional backgrounds and are even business moguls. If I visit Nairaland from time to time to read and leave useful comments for others to learn from, it's because I am used to visiting this Website despite the toxicity of especially the politics section and outright falsifications of facts by well-known ethnic bigots who lift false information from secessionist Websites and blogs and repost them on Nairaland. I gave my CLEAR independent opinion on this Website on how the economy of Nigeria can be boosted using CNG and PMS exports and you have to learn respect that opinion and that of others. That is how to show intelligence and NOT ethnic bigotry. Second, the main reason WHY I even bothered to respond to your hate speech and asinine post is to debunk the Ibo FALSEHOODS being spread online by misinformed young Ibos like you that Ibrahim Babangida called Yorubas "cowards." This is a figment of the imagination of you Ibos and part of the relentless Ibo propaganda and hate speech targeted towards Yorubas and other Nigerian ethnicities as Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (who I incidentally know personally) NEVER made such a comment against Yoruba folks either in English or in Hausa. I'm also a multilinguist so I know that Ibrahim Babangida is too refined to make that kind of statement against Yorubas who he has as friends and associates, and I have seen that same Ibo-fabricated FAKE meme containing IBB's picture with the fake quote that some pathetic Ibos like you (who were NOT even born in 1993) are spreading online from Ibo propaganda secessionist Websites. As an adult myself back in 1993 (when the June 12 1993 elections was annulled), it's really been an act of dishonesty for YOU and your ilk of misinformed Ibos to FABRICATE a LIE against General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and continue to spread a FAKE meme online even here on Nairaland and X. I have observed since the early 2000s that large numbers of manipulated young Ibos (especially the males) have become very notorious for deliberately fabricating and spreading FAKE news online with another highly defamatory, CLEAR LIE being that Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, committed "suicide and drank rat poison." As of 1987 when Chief Awolowo the iconic lawyer, politician and nationalist passed on and was given a state burial in Ikenne, Ogun State (being a nationalist, a GCFR and a SAN), I was already an adult then so Obafemi Awolowo NEVER committed "suicide or drank rat poison" and these LIES being told against General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo portrays some of you young Ibos online as VERY DISHONEST and untrustworthy for spreading FAKE news. You even all have the audacity to stupidly post these FAKE STORIES all over Nairaland which is owned by a Yoruba guy. You and your fellow ethnic bigots and ilk have further implicated yourselves and confirmed the accusations from other Nigerian ethnicities of this deliberate Ibo hatred, online bullying and outright defamation of other ethnic groups. Since the rise of Ralph Uwazurike's Massob in 1999 and Ipob in 2012, more shameful hate speeches, lies, and propaganda have been fabricated by Ibos on many Ibo secessionist Websites. I know all these because even before Nairaland was formed by Seun in March 2005, I used to visit those Ibo secessionist Websites just to read and understand what they were all about but what I saw right from the early 2000s was pure fabrications of history and hate speeches directed towards all other Nigerian ethnic groups simply because of the Ibo loss of the 2 years and 6 months Nigerian Civil War from July 1967 to January 1970 with a total official loss of about 1 million civilians and soldiers on all sides as confirmed by all international bodies from the UN, and international humanitarian groups. The 3million-4 million civilian deaths you guys are spreading online is pure propaganda from secessionist Websites starting from the early 2000s. As a veteran member of NL since 2005, because I have another older moniker, I will NOT stand by and watch you ethnic bigots derail Nairaland or spread FAKE news here or on other social media platforms such as X. It's time for folks like me who are older in age to step in and STOP these LIES that some of you younger ones are spreading here. I will be taking this case up further and I have the hate-filled screenshots of your post. Cc: @Mynd44, @Seun, @Pongwa, @Kusu12 |
officialwdhtv:Shops were broken into and looted by criminals right from the first day of the so-called protests in the North thereby putting INNOCENT shop owners into huge debt. This is NOT the way to go and it's obvious that the protest is just a major cover to loot stores, malls, and private property and this has defeated the purpose of the protests. Most protests that I've witnessed since the 1989 anti-SAP riots under Ibrahim Babangida have always experienced lootings and violence so it's great that Lagos folks have learned major lessons from the HIGHLY destructive EndSARS protests of October 2020. Anybody caught looting in the Northern states and Edo State (where a Church warehouse was broken into to steal bags of rice for humanitarian purposes) MUST face justice. Period. |
Olachase:The boy you quoted is NOT in his 40s but in his late 20s and a very notorious troll on this Website who lied that he is a Prince whose father is a Yoruba from Lagos and mother from Imo. He mentioned his real age while ranting using his other notorious moniker which he used for spreading lies, hate speech and insulting Yoruba women. The fact is that he is a full-blooded Ibo and has NO Yoruba father from a Lagos Royal family. Some of these monikers on NL are just basically incels and socially disconnected ethnic bigots. I had to bring the attention of the owner of this Website and Supermoderators to the hate speech being relentlessly spewed with this creep's other notorious moniker in 2022. |
franvincoop:Take it easy... There's no need for you to cast aspersions here. If you notice any disconnect in any post on NL, bring it up. That's how to pass on information to another person intelligently. I appreciate your bringing that typographic error up... A bit of fatigue led to that. I myself worked with a major IOC right from the 1990s, so, it's inconceivable that I would deliberately want to pass wrong info here on the oil and gas industry. You don't even need Google to know that Africa has more than 10 refineries if you are well-read. I was referring to the number of Greenfield refineries in Africa not the total number of refineries. So, I've corrected my original post. Period. |
Wisdomkosi:4. OIL AND GAS “Our once-declining oil and gas industry is experiencing a resurgence on the back of the reforms I announced in May 2024 to address the gaps in the Petroleum Industry Act. cathodekazim:That's the first thing that occured to me. A lot of Niger Republic and Mali citizens live legally and illegally in the far North of Nigeria and have some family ties with those of their kith and kin in the Northern states. However, displaying some crappy Russian flags will NOT solve the immediate security and economic challenges in the North. Once the cheaper CNG fuel stations and CNG vehicles are deployed, the cost of transportation of food items and passengers will drop by 60 percent and reduce hyperinflation. From August 2024, Dangote Petrochemical Refinery too will be able to export excess PMS and other products to earn massive FX into the coffers of the Central Bank of Nigeria thereby making the Naira to appreciate massively. If the CNG fuel deployments from NNPC costing N200 per standard cubic feet at the NNPC fuel stations and Dangote Petrochemical Refinery FX inflows from exports are NOT implemented, then NOTHING will work in the short to medium-term in the Nigerian economy. Only 4 countries with Greenfield refineries refine crude oil in Africa [out of other refineries that exist], and Nigeria is one of them with the 3 others in North Africa, so, Nigerians should be happy about that and count your blessings. The solutions are right in front of MANY but impatience is NOT making these people to see it. Period. |

adonainana:Succinctly stated. Life was cool and memorable in the early 1980s for some of us who were alive to witness the sequence of events as of 1983 tbh. The increase in interest rates back in the early 1980s in order to tame hyperinflation on the domestic scene by the United States led to a massive devaluation of several local currencies and countries had to pay higher interest rates on IMF loans and more with some countries defaulting. So, that global economic contagion existed as of 1983 and this led to a military coup that led to Gen. Buhari becoming the Head-of-State. IBB and other officers led that coup and Gen. Buhari was only summoned from Jos to take over from former President Shehu Shagari because he did not fully partake in the coup plot. |
nlfpmod:Absolutely! For folks like me who were blessed to be alive in that year, 1983 was indeed like the iconic British Royal Air force pilot and educationist, Dr. Tai Solarin said. This was primarily due to the increase in interest rates to tame inflation in the early 1980s by the United States which led to the massive devaluation of the local currencies of many countries around the world including Nigeria and South American countries which were heavily impacted thereby leading to global inflation. Dr. Tai Solarin was a pilot in the British Royal Air force during the 2nd World War due to the fact that he was in England for further studies at that time. He returned to Nigeria with his British wife Sheila Solarin, OBE, and founded the Mayflower School in his home town of Ikenne in Ogun State. The boxing heavy weight champion Anthony Joshua's Irish paternal grandmother who was a UK-trained nurse also worked at Mayflower School.
Nigerian telecom providers have attributed the country’s recent internet disruptions to cable cuts by hoodlums during the #EndBadGovernance protests. This explanation comes after accusations from various organisations that some network providers deliberately interfered with the network to restrict coverage of the demonstrations. Speaking on behalf of telecom operators in Nigeria, Gbolahan Awonuga, the executive secretary of the Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), told Leadership that the network outage was caused by demonstrators damaging some internet cables. He stated, “There are a lot of cable cuts across Nigeria. Some of the protesters went into the manhole and cut the cables. The network disruption is not a matter of the government trying to sabotage the protest. It is as a result of the cable cut.” Awonuga mentioned that arrangements are being made with the National Security Adviser to the President (NSA) to give operators clearance to repair the damages. He also appealed to Nigerians to exercise patience, as efforts are underway to restore the network soon. https://x.com/instablog9ja/status/1819786515318501556?t=NMEeGU9AeO0eR2hHpTh5PA&s=19
|

You are afraid that if he eats eba, his sugar level will rise, this is not true. I monitored my dad's when he was in hospital and I found out that he if are white rice or eba in the evening, the sugar level doesn't rise by morning when he's tested. You can try this with him and monitor the sugar level to convince you on what to do. |
aswani:@ the bolded. Those folks from core Agbor in Ika South West LGA don't see themselves as Ibo from the East. In fact, they will tell you they have Bini ancestry from especially the paternal lineage. Alariwo of Africa the musician is from Agbor who is fluent in Yoruba and is married to a Yoruba lady. Jim Ovia and Godwin Emefiele are also from Agbor. There are folks from the outer extreme of Ikaland such as Igbodo that identify as Ibo in convos I've had with folks from Anioma for years now.
