The beach front is of national strategic and security significance
There was a recent case decided at the Supreme court between the Federal government and the state
The honest objective question you must ask yourself is why that case was started in the first place and whether it was about any individual

The ruling is that 250metres of coast inwards belongs to the FG

This was not under Tinubu

And even Lagos state was against the FG in the case

The point is that National governments and navies need to dominate and control the coastline for obvious security reasons
Even where there are to be coastal business the principle established is that this must be at the discretion of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT .

The moment the Federal Government(Not Tinubu's ) won that case it meant anyone who bought or leased land from Lagos or any coastal state had lost out
The Federal government does not owe them any compensation or consideration

No one can buy the coast that is the law and in all honesty it is a good law

That does not mean it cannot be leased if security permits but that will be down to the FG

You are the one that needs to cure your ignorance

According to Holloman Air Force Base officials, an F-16 fighter jet went down near White Sands National Park.

Officials say the pilot successfully ejected from the plane and was taken to a hospital for medical care.

The F-16 was assigned to the 49th Wing at the base.

Base officials say the public should avoid the area to prevent possible exposure to hazardous chemicals on the aircraft. The pilot has been released from the hospital.

White Sands National Park is open, but some areas may be closed to the public due to the emergency response.

I see so many ignorant people here. So lemme comment devoid of politics

The "Coastal road" being built by the FG mostly runs inland through the coastal states.

It's not really that it runs along the coast from Lagos to Calabar. It is simply a road that connects the coastal states. Most of it will run inland when completed

Also, the main issue I have with the project is the vagueness and obscurity with which it's being implemented

A journalist today asked Umahi whether the environmental impact assessment has been made public, the minister couldn't give a direct answer
Nicely put.

The main reason why it's called Lagos to Calabar Coastal Highway is simply because it connects the 8 Nigerian states (Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Cross Rivers) that are situated near or along the Atlantic coastline. Period.

Conversely, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi gave a CLEAR response during the media briefing about the EIA after the initial exchange with Laila Salami over the clarity of her British accent. I've known and listened to Laila for years now, so, as a globally well-traveled man (who has been exposed to a lot of world accents), I can EASILY grasp her accent, but others folks might NOT if Laila isn't intentionally clear while speaking. CLARITY is key when communicating with a vast array of folks from different socioeconomic and sociocultural backgrounds.

[b]BELOW is a direct EXCERPT from Bode Gbadebo of Dave Umahi's conversation with Laila:

Umahi: “Sister, I was raised in the village, me I no dey hear phoneh (phonetics), so try to speak…”

Laila: “Well, sorry, I can’t help the way I speak. You mentioned that the ESIS was being carried out at the moment. The EIA Act of 1992….”

Umahi interjected again: “I need an interpreter oh…”

Laila: “Well, you have enough people next to you. The EIA Act of 1992 states that an EIA must be approved by the Federal Ministry of Environment before the commencement of any project unless an exemption has been given…”

Umahi countered the journalist again, saying she was wrong about the process as, according to him, there is provision for preliminary and final approvals.

The journalist, however, insisted on knowing whether preliminary approval had been given for the project to commence or whether there was an exception, to which Umahi, who appeared evasive, said everything was in order as they were following the due process on the highway project.

=>https://leadership.ng/netizens-tackle-umahi-for-trivialising-eia-on-lagos-calabar-road-project/

My take on this media briefing though is that Dave Umahi should be more business-minded next time. If there's anything he doesn't understand while someone is speaking with an accent that is foreign, then Umahi OR anybody else can TELL the person to SPEAK SLOWLY and with more CLARITY and that should help.

Umahi also answered the question on the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) and his team at the Federal Ministry of Works will be able to provide more details to the public within the week or by next week. EIAs and SIAs are important in every road construction, so, the Lagos to Calabar Coastal Highway CANNOT be an exception in the light of climate change and the FACT that road infrastructure costs more in Southern Nigeria than in Northern Nigeria due to hydrological issues. The road project is also going to be based on "Counterpart Funding" between the Federal Government and the contractor handling the road construction, and NOT via "PPP" as WRONGly and widely circulated.

HonNL:
A strong earthquake rattled New York City and the surrounding area Friday morning.

It happened at approximately 10:20 a.m.

The quake - which the USGS has said was either 4.7 or 4.8 - was centered near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, 40 miles west of New York City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

So far, there have been no reports of damage.

The impact was felt throughout the Tri-State Area, including upstate in Syracuse, as well as in Philadelphia and as far away as Baltimore. Reports of buildings shaking and rattling came in from New Jersey to Long Island.

Gov. Phil Murphy said New Jersey has activated its Emergency Operations Center, and urged residents to not call 911 unless they are experiencing an actual emergency.

The MTA said is inspecting all New York City-area bridges and tunnels. No damage has been reported at this point.

"I was laying in my bed, and my whole apartment building started shaking. I started freaking out," one New York City resident told CBS New York's Elijah Westbrook.

Cracks in walls were visible in an apartment in Berkeley Heights, N.J.

It's not the first time the East Coast and New York City have been hit with a quake. A 5.0 quake was measured in New York City in 1884.

There's a major fault lin New Jersey called the Ramapo Fault, which stems from the Appalachian mountains, and there are at least five smaller fault lines under Manhattan island.

The quake comes just a few months after the USGS warned nearly 75% of the United States could face damaging quakes in the next 100 years.

In 2011, a 5.8 quake struck in Virginia and rattled the entire East Coast.

As of yesterday Russian display the magnitude of their strength despite all the support and aids Ukraine are getting from their western allies. On display is Western military hardware captured by the Russian army in Ukraine.

They are war trophies and Russia has decided to flaunt them.

Among the armour here is a British Army Husky tactical support vehicle which had been donated to Ukraine. Its windscreen is covered in bullet-holes.

Opposite the Husky I can see Western tanks that had been transferred to the Ukrainian military. There's an American Abrams which had been damaged on the battlefield. A German Leopard tank, too.

In fact, there's a long line of German armour. And above it a sign: "History is repeating itself."

In bright sunshine Russians are crowding round the military hardware, posing for photographs in front of tank gun barrels and, from the sounds of it, thoroughly enjoying the display.

"It's incredible. Jaw-dropping," says Natalya, who's here with her husband and small daughter.

"It's amazing to think that our guys managed to get these trophies."

More than 30 armoured vehicles have been put on display.
Lol... Keep basking in your capture of wartime trophies.

Maryanne Moghalu, the wife of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) deputy governor and ex-presidential candidate Kingsley Moghalu, has sparked a social media storm with her recent social media post cautioning against investing in Lagos.

In the wake of the contentious dispute between Landmark, a prominent real estate developer, and the Federal Government, Maryanne Moghalu took to Social media to share her advice. Her post, which has since garnered over 200,000 views, serves as a warning to potential investors regarding the current climate in Lagos.

It's worth noting that Kingsley Moghalu was the presidential candidate for the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the country's general election in February 2019.

The controversy surrounding Landmark and the Federal Government has raised concerns about the stability of investment opportunities in Lagos. Maryanne Moghalu's post adds to the ongoing dialogue about the implications of such disputes on the business environment in Nigeria's commercial capital.
Maryanne's post on X was very careless, inciting, and highly defamatory. She has to get properly educated about true events and think before posting next time so she is NOT to be seen to be demarketing Lagos State or any other state based on misleading information or confirmation bias. Maryanne can easily land or get charged to court and get jailed subsequently for incitement, demarketing and defamation if those who are directly affected by her demarketing choose to take this up LEGALLY and she would lose in court!

As a woman who has been married to Kingsley Moghalu for 30 years now, she has to learn to be guarded before posting online so that it doesn't affect Kingsley's image. Ibrahimcoomasie:
Those Criticizing the Ongoing Lagos- Calabar Coastal Highway Project Being Done by The Renewed Hope Administration Of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Either Have Little Knowledge of the Concept of EPC+F On Project Financing Or Are Deliberately Sacrificing The Cause Of Development At The Altar Of Politics.

The trending posts of criticisms by some notable politicians on the propriety and priority of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project being executed by the Renewed Hope administration of His Excellency President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR are no doubt baseless thoughts of critics who are either bereft of the knowledge of the workings of the project initiative or they deliberately want to sacrifice the modest developmental efforts of Mr. President at the altar of their political ambitions.

It is unthinkable that such highly placed people fail to understand the various elucidations provided by the Honourable Minister of Works, His Excellency, Sen Engr Nweze David Umahi CON on when the project was conceptualized, the various administrations that attempted but failed to carry out the project, the economic and technical considerations that gave rise to the commencement of the project under the Renewed Hope administration, the funding and procurement details and indeed the dimensions, importance, priority and propriety of the projects in the national developmental trajectory.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Lagos- Calabar coastal highway project is being done under EPC +F. What does this type of funding entail? This is a project financing mechanism in which EPC+F contractors also arrange financing for the project. EPC+F is Engineering, Procurement and Construction plus Financing. Engineering here includes design and specification. This initiative provides a fixed price, fixed date, and transfers risks to the contractor. This type of funding requires only a counter- part funding from the Federal Government. Such funds are sourced by contractors where they have confidence in the economic policies of government, which essentially entails allowing the participation of the private sector in the road infrastructure development through PPP or EPC+F.

In the recent Inauguration of the Committee on Compensation of owners of properties that will be affected by section 1 of the Lagos- Calabar Coastal Highway, the Honourable Minister emphasized the nature of the project funding and the workings of EPC + F when he said, "And graciously, Mr. President had approved that this section three will start from Calabar, which is the end point of the project, and start running towards Akwa Ibom. So, the 700 km is procured under phase one, in phases, and it's EPC +F. EPC+F is engineering, procurement, construction, and finance. And so, under this kind of arrangement, the contractor is expected to bring in a certain amount of money, and Federal Government is expected to pay certain counterpart funding."

No patriotic Nigerian should discourage this kind of project where funding is substantially from the contractor. There is no doubt that Mr. President is aggressively tackling the backlogs of uncompleted road projects. In the 2023 Supplementary Budget, Mr. President approved funds for intervention on the over 260 dilapidated roads nationwide. The 2024 appropriation made provision for capital investment on our critical roads across the 6 Geo- political zones of Nigeria.

The Honourable Minister has already made a great difference in the road infrastructure development roadmap of this administration through his new innovations on road construction and rehabilitation, his power of supervision, and his contract negotiation power which is second to none in the history of the Federal Ministry of Works. He has been touring around and supervising the various ongoing projects of the federal government, and the difference is already there. The people are testifying of the quality and speed of road projects being executed by the Renewed Hope administration. He has proven track records on road infrastructure development. He is not into rhetorics like many politicians who talk high but can do only less. The administration of President Tinubu is doing roads that will stand the test of time. The roads he is fixing will facilitate economic recovery. The patriotic Nigerians are already applauding the good efforts of Mr. President, but professional politicians are busy criticizing a landmark project that will launch Nigeria into the league of the best economies of the continent.

On the importance of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project to the economy of the nation, it is clear that the coastal highway, when completed, will foster national economic growth. Notably,
all roads in the country are important as reflected by the interventions of this administration on road rehabilitation across the nation, but the coastal highway offers much more economic benefits to the nation because of its connectivity to the North and South through the existing spurs. The road, when completed, has the potential to increase Nigeria’s GDP and trigger industrialisation, create trade, enhance the transportation of goods and services, and safety of road users.

The road is going to be the biggest super highway in Africa in terms of the structure and solidity as we all as utility value, having ten lanes with a rail track designed for concrete technology, covering 700 kilometers. It is going to attract foreign direct investment to Nigeria, and it is going to trigger economic development. It is going to develop the potential of our coastal businesses, especially at the local economic corridors, and boost tourism and marine businesses.

More than 98 percent of those openly condemning this public-private partnership road construction on NL and other online platforms are well-known Ibos or Ibo monikers and this is the reason why Dave Umahi also said the man who contested the last Presidential election and came 3rd was further inciting the South East against the success of the road construction because Dave Umahi himself has come under inciting attacks online by this group of toxic trolls among the Ibos!

Tell me, how can a coastal highway pass through the South East which has NO coastline or shares direct boundaries with the Atlantic Ocean? This shows a complete lack of critical thinking from some of these young, very toxic and ill-informed NL posters tbh.

Just an avenue to channel SS oil resources to the SW.

Nothing more!

Buhari built pipeline from the Niger Delta to Kaduna..

Tinubu is building a coastal hugway from Lagos to the Niger Delta.

If there was resource control, everybody would have been busy developing his region, not connecting pipelines and highways to other people's resources.
You are NOT well informed.

That's a newspaper article Web line below from March 2024 featuring Chief Edwin Clark who is a foremost Ijaw and Nigerian nationalist commending the President Tinubu administration for starting the Lagos to Calabar Coastal highway construction.

Read it and purge yourself of utter ignorance and ethnic bigotry.

The EAST-WEST COASTAL HIGH SPEED RAIL LINE - Buhari's Joker & Game Changer

This line, for which a contract of nearly 4 billion dollars has already been awarded, is set to be BUHARI'S JOKER before he leaves office.

An absolute GAME CHANGER of the first order, the East-West line would be the first of its kind in Nigerian history.

A line directly connecting East and West.

Not just a mere line.

We're talking high-speed, air-conditioned comfort, with top-notch wining and dining facilities.

NRC High Speed Rail

The colonial-built lines were generally north to south, simply because their objective was evacuation of our resources to the ports, and not internal economic integration or social development.

Buhari's East-West line is set to change that colonial legacy with a world class, high-speed rail line that will greatly boost economic activity, trade, business, and tourism in the regions concerned.

And as if that were not enough, ANOTHER HUGE CONTRACT, worth over 3 billion dollars, has been awarded for the construction of the East-North high-speed line. This line connects every city in the South East, and will link seamlessly with the East-West Coastal line.

Railways are hugely important for any nation looking to develop.

It was the railways that transformed the United States' economy a century ago.

Railways reduce the cost of doing business, thus boosting economic activity and wealth in the long-term.

Kudos to President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, for this SELFLESS, PATRIOTIC & NOBLE UNDERTAKING.
Bump.

Biodun556:
1. The road will connect all the 7 ports in Nigeria together

2. The road will serve as alternative to lagos-ibadan expreway.

3. All major cities in South West and South South will be connected together.

4. The 700 kilometer road is not entirely new as there many federal roads within it so it served as way of repairing the bad federal roads

5. The coastal road will have rail, this will assist the new refineries to easily move their products.
