A viral video has surfaced showing the Benin–Asaba Expressway in a devastating condition after hours of heavy rainfall. The once-busy highway has now turned into a muddy, flooded nightmare, with deep potholes, stranded vehicles, and frustrated commuters battling to move through the chaos.
Drivers and passengers could be seen wading through knee-deep water as trucks and cars got stuck for hours, causing major traffic gridlock. Many residents have taken to social media to lament the poor state of federal roads and the lack of proper drainage systems in the area.
The video has since sparked outrage, with citizens calling on both the Edo and Delta State governments, as well as the Federal Ministry of Works, to take immediate action and fix the collapsing road before it becomes completely impassable.
🎥 Watch the full clip to see how terrible the situation has become — and hear what stranded motorists had to say.
deji17: Once the Coastal road is complete, there will be less traffic on some of these roads which will make repair work easier and quicker . A road like this will go from main / primary link road to alternate / secondary route connection. But some, one way thinkers and myopic people will tell you not to construct a new road untill all the existing one are fixed.
You have a brilliant point there. In any event, that road would still have to be rebuilt using the standard method of using bitumen.
Second, Edo State is part of the huge bitumen belt which has the 2nd largest bitumen reserve in the world after that of Canada and the bitumen belt extends from Lagos to Ogun to Ondo (Ondo State is the epicenter of the bitumen reserves) and Edo States. Yet nothing is being done to maximize the extraction of bitumen using bitumen refineries for road construction and other value additions. The Nigerian bitumen reserves is officially worth more in value than the entire crude oil reserves in Nigeria!
Optasia... What about Glo which is a Nigerian brand. How far have they gone in reaching the various stellar performances of the other Big 3 global brands?
As a vetinary doctor that I am I did a successful surgery on this pregnant goat, the goat was unable to push and her cervix refused to dialect up 10cm,so the vertinary doctor had to take her into the theatre. The operation was successful.
President Emmanuel Macron was on a diplomatic tour of duty in Nigeria for his country back in the early 2000s and it's good to see that he has maintained those ties on several fronts with his last visit to Lagos State and Femi Kuti's "New Africa Shrine" in Ikeja where a stellar team of folks were in attendance when Akinwunmi Ambode was the Governor of Lagos State.
On the other hand, the embroidery on the gentleman's agbada is too much. A minimalist style of embroidery (and the right fabric color) looks more sophisticated on any agbada.
This story sounds ridiculous and might just be an anecdote to gain attention. There's absolutely NO normal 7-year-old of elementary school age that would touch the breast (s) of an adult woman. When I was 4 to 5 years of age decades ago before the advent of the Internet when we largely depended on reading the large volumes of encyclopedias in our family home libraries for knowledge, I largely knew what was right and what was wrong.
Second, assuming the story has some iota of truth, I would have expected the young lady who made the FB post to first off caution the boy in the presence of his mother NOT to touch her boobs again and that would have deterred any further incursions. But slamming the boy with a hot slap is totally off. If the boy had passed in process the lady would have been arrested by the police for the death of the boy.
There's gonna be more melting of icebergs in Iceland with this increased heat leading to a further rise in global sea levels. That's bad for areas with low level lands close to the sea or oceans. When the industrialized countries of the world such as the United States, China, etc, refuse to cut back on the use of CFCs, and more, this is what you get... An increase in the spread of mosquitoes, tropical diseases, rising sea levels... Damn!
DANGOTE PRESS STATEMENT DANGOTE GROUP REFUTES OWNERSHIP OF TRUCK IN AKUNGBA-AKOKO ACCIDENT
Dangote Group has refuted reports circulating on social media and in some online platforms linking it to a truck involved in a road accident in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The company wishes to make it categorically clear that the truck involved in the unfortunate incident does not belong to Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries.
Verified vehicle registration details confirm that the truck with Plate No. JJJ 365 XB, is owned and operated by an independent logistics company with no affiliation to Dangote Group. For the avoidance of doubt, the truck was not conveying any Dangote products but was transporting crushed stones in reused sacks bearing various brand names.
Dangote Industries maintains a strict policy on fleet management and vehicle identification, ensuring that all its trucks are properly branded, tracked, and operated by trained personnel under rigorous safety and compliance standards.
For clarity, all genuine Dangote trucks carry distinct company markings and fleet numbers, making them easily identifiable.
While the company deeply sympathises with all those affected by the incident, it urges members of the public and the media to verify information before attributing ownership or involvement to Dangote Group.
The company also advises media organisations to refrain from using images of Dangote-branded trucks in connection with accidents or incidents unrelated to its operations.
Dangote Industries remains steadfast in its commitment to road safety, regulatory compliance, and responsible corporate citizenship across all its operations in Nigeria and beyond.
sammiewrite: I listen to the condescending tone. But more importantly, I observe the aggression, arrogance and combativeness. In as much as Sowore may feel his right is being trampled upon, those officers were the bigger people in this video. One thing I'm most grateful for is that I didn't fall into the hype to vote this guy before I got the chance to scrutinize him. He is not in any way different from the folks he is fond of criticising. Only difference between him and them is opportunity.
Omoyele is NOT the same person we used to know back in the day (late 1980s to early 1990s) when he was an active UNILAG student union leader right into the 2000s when Sahara Reporters was a credible source of investigative information. BUT it's now filled with a lot of half-truths and hate speech that require constant fact-checks.
In terms of emotional intelligence, Omoyele Sowere has lost that quality otherwise he wouldn't be verbally defaming people relentlessly like he's been doing. If Omoyele gets into real political power, he'll most definitely become a ruthless dictator like some former activists we know from other countries who ended up being ruthless dictators as well.
Omoyele's spoken-Yoruba is very fluent in the video. The Apoi folks have strong Yoruba influences on them in their first and last names and more.
I saw a video in late 2024 where Omoyele Sowere from Kiribo in Ese Odo LGA clearly stated at a gathering that a lot of people mistake him for a Yoruba (because he speaks Yoruba language as an Apoi and because of his Yoruba names which Apoi people bear in their community), BUT he emphatically stated in that short YouTube video that he is an Ijaw.
The Apoi people in Ondo no doubt bear Yoruba names (but with some Ijoid influences), speak fluent Yoruba, being in direct proximity to the Ilaje-Yorubas who are of pure Ile-Ife descent from centuries back. There is another account I read online that the Apoi are descendants of Yorubas who embarked on fishing expeditions towards the Bayelsa area and lived there to form the Apoi group before reversing back to settle in the midst of the Ilajes who are dominant in that area. This probably explains why the Apoi bear pure Yoruba names, speak Yoruba, but still have some Ijoid influences due to their long stay in the Central Ijaw waters area. The Arogbos are much more of Ijaws and they ALSO migrated from the Arogbo clan in the Bayelsa area on fishing expeditions around the Niger Delta area where they settled in other people's fishing communities for fishing. So, the Bayelsa area is where the Apoi and the Arogbo-Ijaw came from and they still exist there.
The Ijaw man, Sowore standing for Igbo. Igbo man have tendency to prosper in strange land and Ijaw man have tendency to love strangers like their own or even more than their own.
Igbos aren't our enemies but we can only operate as two different nations because two captains can't be in one ship and Igbos aren't larger than Ijaws both in area size and population.
Great100000: ICE arrests police officer in Chicago suburb and accuses him of being in US illegally
ICE agents arrested a police officer Thursday morning in the Chicago suburb of Hanover Park, accusing him of being an unlawful immigrant from Montenegro.
The Department of Homeland Security says the officer, Radule Bojovic, overstayed a tourist visa that expired in 2015.
According to the department, Bojovic was “encountered during a targeted enforcement action” in ICE’s immigration-focused operation in Illinois.
The Hanover Park Police Department shared a Facebook post in August announcing Bojovic’s recent graduation from the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy, adding that he had started “an intensive 15 weeks of field training and evaluation as he continues preparing to serve the Hanover Park community.”
CNN has reached out to the Hanover Park Police for comment and has attempted to contact Bojovic.
“Radule Bojovic violated our nation’s laws and was living ILLEGALLY in the United States for 10 years—what kind of police department gives criminal illegal aliens badges and guns? It’s a felony for aliens to even possess a firearm. A law enforcement officer who is actively breaking the law,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in a statement to CNN Thursday.
Rodney Craig, the mayor of Hanover Park, said Thursday night that village officials will be monitoring Bojovic’s immigration proceedings. If he’s allowed to stay in the US and authorized to work, he will be returned to full duty status at the police department, Craig said at a municipal meeting.
“I encourage all our residents to gather all the available facts before forming their own opinion as to whether hiring the officer was appropriate. I can tell you with the utmost confidence it was appropriate,” he said. “First and foremost, the village and the police department conducted its own thorough due diligence as part of this hiring process. As is the case with the hiring of all police officers.”
Craig said that before Bojovic was hired, the village confirmed that he was legally authorized work in the United States.
“Background checks performed by the FBI and Illinois State Police revealed no criminal history,” he added. “If Officer Bojovic did not hold federal work authorization, he would not have been hired.”
DomPerignon: The latest lie by the US govt against the govt an people of Nigeria actively running a state policy targeted at killing Christians all started when a member of the Biafran Government in Exile , BRGIE lobbied the US congress on this lie.
This individual promised the US govt Niger Delta oil fields and a permanent US military base in same Niger Delta as if ND is part of their Biafra.
Note that this BRGIE was formed by Simon Ekpa and his Autopilot faction of IPOB which most Ibos including IPOB and even Kanu's defense team said were a govt controlled movement to smear IPOB.
Now same BRGIE is pushing this lie and all Ibos are supporting them.
You can't have any rational discussion with people who believe in lies .

Ofemannnu: Unfortunately,we were borrowing money to pay workers in Nigeria in 2014/2015. Fastest growing economy on paper. Yes,oil sold like mad but when price came down to $87 pbd from $100 plus pbd for a long time, we resorted to borrowing to pay mere workers. No tangible infrastructures,no NELFUND,No free technical colleges and free food with #22,500 monthly pocket money and so on.
All the humongous revenue made was siphoned. Wicked leaders.
seunmsg: President Bola Tinubu has extended hearty congratulations to Mr. Tolu Obamuroh, a distinguished Nigerian legal practitioner, on his elevation to the Partnership of White & Case LLP, one of the world’s most prestigious international law firms, headquartered in New York.
The announcement marks a significant global recognition of Nigerian talent, as Obamuroh will serve as a Partner in the firm’s International Arbitration Practice in Paris, effective January 1, 2026.
He is noted as one of only three new partners globally in this specialised practice area and the sole Nigerian-qualified lawyer in this year’s global partner class.
In a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), on Friday, Tinubu commended the achievement, noting its broader significance for the nation.
“President Tinubu commends this outstanding achievement as a reflection of Nigerian competence, resilience, and global excellence, noting that Tolu’s success represents the best of the country’s new generation of professionals who continue to distinguish themselves worldwide,” the statement read.
The President further affirmed that Obamuroh’s rise to partnership at such a globally respected firm “stands as a powerful symbol of the Renewed Hope vision — a Nigeria whose citizens lead and excel across disciplines, defined by merit, integrity, and global impact.”
Obamuroh’s career has been characterised by professional excellence, where he has successfully represented sovereigns and major corporations in high-value, cross-border disputes, particularly within the energy and infrastructure sectors.
He also serves as a trusted adviser to the Federal Government in several international matters, working under the supervision of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
Tinubu concluded by joining Obamuroh’s family, friends, colleagues, and the wider legal community in celebrating this milestone and encouraged other “young Nigerians to draw inspiration from his journey of dedication, discipline, and service.”
Indeed, the right sequence is "Lebanese-Nigerian." I've known some of the members of the Boulos family for decades now and the Boulos family just like the Chagoury family of Lebanese-Nigerian roots have been very influential in the business and social circles for decades now within the Nigerian ecosystem with a global business outreach.
blamingthedevil: President Tinubu met with Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump on Arab and African Affairs in Rome, Italy
Impressive. The upticks are indeed gaining momentum as Nigeria must maintain good ties with the current POTUS (despite any misgivings) and other emerging or leading nations of the world in order to fit in the global geopolitical dynamics while taking advantage of robust opportunities.
Massad Boulos is a member of the Boulos family of Lebanese descent who also have strong ties with Nigeria for decades with some of the Boulos children having Nigerian passports just like the Chagoury brothers who were born in Nigeria with Nigerian citizenship. The significant Lebanese-Nigerian community especially in Lagos and Kano have strong global business influences as well.
GloriousGbola: i worked in downstream oil and gas for 15 years as an engineer. a significant part of my experience is construction concerns
there are multiple laws and regulations in place that speak to construction. set backs you must not encroach on, structures your facility must have a minimum clearance from. as long as you are working with professionals - these facts will be made available to you at some point before you start construction.
what people do is they rush or bypass the process
you can be smart enough to break rules, but not wise enough to know why the rules have been made
people say things like they don't want petrol station or gs plant near their estate - because these are dangerous. but in actual sense, a gas plant built with respect for standards is safe. from design you put distances, or fire walls, etc. but a 'smart' person engaging in cost cutting ignores the safety distances and bribes people. a short term solution for a long term investment
why would anyone build a permanent structure below a 330kv line?
all that talk of we have all our approvals - this is what happens with most developers. you have the approval drawing - and the construction drawing. the construction drawing will usually deviate to save space etc.
LASG expanded Lagos badagry expressway from a four lane road to a a ten lane road with a metro line. everyone on either side of the road lost up to 10 metres of space. but today - i can follow that express and be in surulere in 30 minutes if i leave my house right now. the same applies to the lekki expressway that all those car dealerships are bordering. once upon a time, that road was also a four lane road. go down to ajah and everyone did partial driveway with paving stones instead of concrete because they knew govt would expand the road. and the road has now been expanded
lasg has already informed residents along lekki ajah expressway that they plan to expand the road for a proposed metro line. i know this because i am working ion design for a project in that axis. a metro line will ease traffic and reduce transport costs. so is building a metro line also wickedness?
oil companies, banks, eateries, etc all loose space and have to relocate when there is road expansion. when lagos badagry road was being expanded , total, oando, mobil all lost significant portions of their sites and had to rebuild. total lost a station outright.

Hactivedri: LPG GAS IRON is an iron powered by Lpg Gas (Normal cooking gas) manufactured by New tech (Gas way India). Lpg Gas Iron is useful for industrial and dlmestics purposes most especially laundry men and tailors, Lpg Gas Iron was Discovered by a young man by the name Folayan Abiodun Adeola (Hactive) in the year 2021, Folayan Abiodun (Hactive) is a graduate of Agricultural Economics from university of technology Ogbomosho, an indigene of Ora Igbomina in Ifedayo Local Government Osun state. He started his business as Laundry Practitioner (Hactive Global Ventures) at Onibuku otta ogun state, Mr Hactive as popularly reffered to, started his laundry business in the year 2016 after his NYSC. His business was facing a major challenges like many other businesses in Nigeria in the year 2020/2021 and decided to source for solution to his predicament, He search google for better ways to do laundry without electricity, many options was presented to in which includes charcoal iron, Generator, solar iron etc. But he was not interested in those items but later stumbled on Gas iron by luck and pressed forward to discovered the supplier number which happened to be sales rep to New tech technology. After back and forth he ordered for the iron at the discounted price of 49,000, though the payment only covered the shipment of the iron from india to Nigeria. All these happened around July of 2021. He begins to track the process of the shipment till he got the first New tech LPG GAS IRON model on 24th of December 2021. Video calls were made on how to set it up, after setting it up the iron begins to work perfectly. In his wide thinking he discovered business in this process and decided to advertise the product for his colleague in the laundry industry to see and experience what he has started enjoying. Though he had an agreement with the manufacturer to source for an investor to bring the product to the country. After lots of efforts, he tried pre order which did not work instead many are calling him scammer. When he was unable to source for the required money to bring the product to the country (5,000,000). He communicated his challenges with the manufacturer Representative in which suggestion was made to find an investor to bring it down.
Mr Hactive started using his only Gas iron as sample moving from one offices to another, e.g New Generation gas station in Magodo Lagos, where he met the MD, He was rejected after he made his presentation because everyone still believes those manufacturers are scammer. Infact the New Generation MD said he went to india and was calling them for a meeting which they refused to show up, so this actually made him to believe they're scammer. Though it was newtech Sales representative that gave him numbers of those that has showed interest in there product but was unable to invest because there was no sample. He started moving from one potential investor to another all efforts in vain no one was willing to invest.
Though many has many conditions which involves they wanted to deal with those manufacturers directly without involving him (Hactive) because He (Hactive had a written agreement with the manufacturer to be there sole distributor which they're unable to turn down because they've seen Nigeria as there potential market place because of failure of government to provide stable electricity supply for daily consumption.
Still the young man (Hactive) did mot relent in his effort to make the product known to his colleagues in the industry. He started social media Advert that was what he believed the present investor saw and decided to invest into shipping the product to Nigeria. The sale representative contacted him that they've found an investor outside his efforts still he continues till the timeline. That was how his agreement with the manufacturer got terminated and a new man got into the shipping the product into the country because he has direct link to india. All that Hactive was unable to verified Mr Olive was able to do so because he had direct link to India. There's another person that also got his own Lpg Gas Iron from india, thats Mr Feranmi from Akure. The three of them jointly aggreed to distribute the product in Nigeria. Mr Olive shipped the product into the country Hactive was made Number one Distributor and Mr Feranmi was made Number Distributor. Though Mr Hactive cannot assertain how Mr Feranmi got his own Lpg Gas Iron but he was sured He got it after he had gotten his own in 2021.
This made Hactive Global Ventures became The first person that discovered Lpg Gas Iron in Nigeria.
On his statement he said there was someone that claimed his father brought similar iron into Nigeria on the 19's but it was for Home uses.
This made Hactive became number one person that discovered the iron and made it known to the users today. First batch (5.5kg weight ) came and was successfully distributed by Hactive, Mr Olive and Mr Feranmi. Hactive still press on by forming Sub distributor across the Country Geo political Zone. Hactive met his Friend Mr Rolas from ibadan when he was gathering pre order payment for the iron. Mr Rolas helped him secured a stand at Clean Show africa because he also came to showcase his Laundry consumables, a Symposium that was organized by claan Ace Laundry in Collaboration with FPDA (Fabric Care Professional and Dry cleaners Association) and LG. He was the first person to showcase his product in the program. Hactive was helped to convey this product to the location by his Friend and Mentee (Mrs Pamela Okwoko) and his friend Mr Zion. During the program many laundry practitioners showed interest in the product whereas some regards it as unprofessional means of ironing, Though many of those that rejected the product publicly came back to exchange business card Lol. Sales was made lots of customers came from there.
Followed by second batch, it was during the second batch that we had started having more distributors.
All thanks to Hactive for sharing the opportunity with others. Thanks to Mr Olive for his investment into shipping the product to Nigeria. Thanks to Mr Feranmi for Supporting the initial distribution of the product.
Now, we have many distributors and many options of where to buy and from whom to buy from, but this pieces is necessary to set the record straight and give the flower 🌺 to who deserves it.
Non of you will believe there is steaming type of this iron in Nigeria but the first person thats using it refused to share the updates with others, that's why Hactive deserves his flower for sharing it.
Also many has opportunities to invest into the iron but refused, thats why Mr olive also deserves a thanks from all users. The role Played by Mr Feranmi is highly significant, so he also deserves many of our thanks.
The presence of Newtech LPG GAS IRON has helped many laundry men to service in the day to day laundry activities. If you're one of them, say a big thank you to these people.
