A video of the Ooni of Ife meeting a long lost friend of his at an event has warmed the hearts of many on social media.
 
In the video, the monarch and his entourage were entering an event hall when a man in suit came before him and prostrated in obeisance. 
 
The monarch waited for the man to stand up and when he saw his face, he shouted in excitement. He handed his staff to his aide and exchanged pleasantries with him.

Witnesses say the moment was filled with joy and surprise, as the Ooni embraced the man warmly and spent a few minutes chatting, smiling, and laughing, a rare public display of deep friendship and genuine connection.

Moments like this remind us that no matter the crown or title, true friendship still touches the heart.

Government was not functioning when subsidy was around, they were borrowing money, against future oil earnings amongst other things, to pay subsidy and also put in their pockets.

Senator Natasha Donates 700 Computers to Historic Okene School, Pledges More Support

In a bold push for digital inclusion in public education, Senator Natasha H Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, on Monday distributed 700 computers to students of Abdul Azeez Attah Memorial College, Okene (AAAMCO), one of the oldest secondary schools in Northern Nigeria.

The initiative, described as a major stride toward digital transformation in Kogi Central schools, is part of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s broader education modernization plan aimed at equipping students with 21st-century skills.

Addressing staff, students, and community leaders at the official handover ceremony, the senator emphasized the critical need to align education with today’s technological realities.

“To educate a mind is to enlighten a mind, and a collection of enlightened minds builds a strong society and a thriving economy,” she said. “Now that we live in the age of artificial intelligence and robotics, it would be an injustice to our children not to provide them with up-to-date learning technology.”

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that the 700 computers will significantly elevate the standard of education in the region, adding that similar interventions will soon be extended to other schools. “Access to digital learning devices should be a necessity for all students in public schools, as it is in Rwanda and Ghana,” she added.

The Ohi of Okene, HRH Alhaji Okatahi Mamman, praised the senator’s foresight and urged the students to use the devices responsibly. “This is a forward-thinking investment in our future,” the royal father said.

Principal of AAAMCO, Mr. Paul Amoh, commended the senator for transforming the school into a model of academic excellence. He recalled earlier interventions which included the construction of a one-kilometer road within the school, renovation of classroom blocks, and installation of solar streetlights.

“She is not just giving us devices, she is giving us a future,” the principal said. “We are now on a path to becoming a fully smart school.”

Also speaking, the National Secretary of the AAAMCO Old Boys Forum, Engr. Yusuf Momohjimoh, applauded the initiative, noting that the transformation of the school has rekindled pride among its alumni. He pledged the Forum’s commitment to safeguarding the devices and ensuring their proper use.

“This gesture will undoubtedly enhance the educational development of our students. It’s not just about computers, it’s about community rebuilding and future readiness,” he said.

Founded in the 1920s, Abdul Azeez Attah Memorial College is a historic institution that has produced many of Nigeria’s finest minds, including former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, among several others.

I agree 100% with you that he doesn’t have the luxury of time. He needs to strike while he has the opportunity. I think only him can do it and I think the prevailing sentiment amongst the various ethnic nationalities will support him.

He has already made some very critical and structural changes. Nobody is bringing back subsidy and no one is bringing back multiple currency rates. If he can restructure the country, he will secure his legacy for centuries!

Initially he was moving like a man who didn’t care about a second term and I was convinced he would do it in his 1st term but the resistance and compromise on the tax bill led me to believe he is picking his battles and he wants a second term and I hope he devotes his second term to that.

I actually suspect they know it’s on his to do list and that’s the real reason they want him out!

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has stated that nearly all the kidnappers and criminals arrested in the state since he assumed office are of Igbo origin.

Soludo disclosed this at an interactive town hall meeting with Anambra indigenes in the diaspora, held at the Metro Points Hotel in New Carrollton, Maryland, United States.

He said the claim that Fulani herders are behind most of the violence in the south-east is misleading and unfounded.

His words: “99.99 per cent of kidnappers and other criminals arrested in the state since I assumed office three years ago have been Igbos.

“In my three years and three months in office, nearly every kidnapper and armed criminal we have apprehended is Igbo.

“Igbos are kidnapping and killing fellow Igbos, not Fulani herdsmen. Anambra belongs to all of us. Our progress is a shared responsibility.”

The governor warned that many criminal elements masquerading as freedom fighters are in fact, Igbo youths engaged in violent acts for personal gain.

“Let’s stop deceiving ourselves. Ask yourselves: how do these so-called liberators survive in the forests for months without local support? Who feeds them?” Soludo asked.

He said the state government remains committed to tackling insecurity and fostering unity among Anambra citizens at home and abroad.

Interesting. I remember that Sango was related to Nupes. The reality is that it's difficult for any culture to overshadow the Yoruba culture. That's why wherever Yorubas have settled, the culture remains strong till today. Also, most Fulanis in Ilorin can only speak Yoruba and most bear Yoruba names.

Nupes were absorbed in Lagos too. The Yorubas in Ilorin still have their oriki and maintain the culture apart from religious rules and obligations.

So we heard of the Ikuru Atlantic beach which is the longest white Sand beach in West Africa, located in Andoni LGA in Rivers State. I rallied my friends in Port Harcourt, Abuja, Enugu and Lagos and we began planning the trip.

We fixed the 9th - 10th February for the event! Which will be not only to visit the beach, but experience the community and also camp within the community.

Everyone tried to discourage us, many cited security concerns. We were persistent, it is not the first time, we have always known Nigerians to be skeptical of the outdoors, however, we do take our security seriously. So lucky for us, we engaged the Navy in Ikuru town to provide security cover, which they obliged.

We met with the paramount to ruler of Ikuru, King Ikuru himself, a very brilliant and intelligent man, educated and excited about our visit. He spoke alot about nature, wildlife and forestation. The king and his vice are very knowledgeable about wildlife and nature preservation.

The community has white tusk special elephant, native only to Andoni in the whole of Africa.

They also have Anacondas. Sadly one just died, caused by bush fire; one still exist. They also have lots of pythons and alligators. The forest is also home to the Dukier (antelope with twisted horn) which is now extinct. There are still other antelopes in the community. It's a community rich with tourism potential for a safari. The number of elephants within the forest is estimated to be about 49.

One thing struck a chord on our minds, upon arriving at the community. You will find its very organized, with elections conducted into various positions within the community. You will also notice modern infrastructure and very friendly people.

We also met with the new Youth chairman, CSO of the community, Youth Sport Chairman and corp members deployed to Ikuru Town.

The Osun State Government on Tuesday announced the production of its first gold, saying it had adopted strategic measures to effectively handle volatile mining operations in the state.

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola made the disclosure in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, at an event to mark the day dedicated to the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development at the ongoing South-West Local Governments Agriculture and Mineral Resources Trade Fair.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Benedict Alabi, explained that the strategies adopted included setting up a committee to handle mining issues and regulating mining activities by registering miners to guide against quackery, and illegal mining.

Oyetola added that holding meeting with the mining communities and the artisanal miners to sensitise them on relevant issues including security and conducive environment was vital to the growth of the sector.

He added, “Recently, Osun produced the first gold through the Segilola Project. The above-mentioned comprehensive and strategic mechanisms will ensure seamless and productive mining activities.”

In his remarks, Minister for Mines of Steel Development, Mr. Olamilekan Adegbite, harped on the need to add value to the country’s mineral resources.

He said, “If you add value to gold, it will create more wealth for our people, it will create revenue for government, it will create employment for our people.”

“And at the same time, that knowledge will always be there and then we can produce what other people need instead of exporting raw ore and of course, which we did in oil and gas to our detriment.”

Enugu Lagos or Enugu Abuja surely doesn't have as much traffic as say Port Harcourt Lagos or Lagos Abuja , so you can't always profitably fill a 737 of 130+ seats.

But these Brazilian machines?

With the biggest having max 120 seats, you fly them with more chance of profitability year round with a much lower load and fuel burn.

They may even end up running extra sectors, especially during high demand periods like Easter and Xmas if they have spare aircraft and airport capacity available
