Glimpsetv:Does this green vegetation scenery in the video look like anywhere in the United States that I know of? The dude could well be speaking right in Ghana with an imported pre-owned Ford delivery van. ![]() |
Otuegbe:The Ibos who got their share of 20 Pounds are very lucky that they even got ANY 20 Pounds through the noble influence of Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, GCFR, SAN, and strong his insistence during Federal cabinet meetings as the then Federal Finance Minister (during and after the exactly 2 years and 6 months( July 1967 to January 1970) Nigerian Civil War till he voluntarily left Gowon's cabinet in 1973. Many Ibos took their Nigerian Pounds from the existing banks and were ordered to have them converted to the Illegally printed "Biafra Pounds" on the orders of Col. Emeka Ojukwu which subsequently were NOT accepted by the international community and international financial institutions as a legal tender because the Biafra secession was deemed illegal and NEVER recognized by United Nations, the United States, the United Kingdom and indeed several influencial countries of the world. So, what Col. Emeka Ojukwu (Rtd) did was to collect ALL the Nigerian Pounds in the hands of Ibos and other non-Ibos within the secessionist enclave (in addition to the ones seized or looted from the Central Bank of Nigeria offices in Eastern Nigeria cities and Benin City during the Mid-West invasion of 1967 by secessionist rebels) and continued to use the seized Nigerian Pounds to buy weapons from suppliers (and pay for publicity and lobbying engagements for war time propaganda) since the Nigerian Pounds was recognized in the international community. NOW, the British government then adviced Nigeria to change her currency notes to newly designed Nigerian Pounds which were introduced in 1968 and that was one of the major factors which rendered ALL the older Nigerian Pounds notes in the rebel enclave completely useless to Ojukwu's secession plan and led to the downfall of the secessionists with a final surrender to Nigerian Federal troops in January 1970. Emeka Ojukwu himself talked about that currency change as being the major reason that dealt a blow to the secession from 1968 to the end in January 1970. It was only France and some of those irresponsible White mercenaries that kept the war going for selfish reasons. All these are contained in several history books in my personal home libraries on the Nigerian Civil War of July 1967 to January 1970 that I've read since the 1980s. The Ibos then took the worthless Biafra Pounds (as worthless as toilet paper) they had got to replace the Nigerian Pounds notes in 1967 [which the young 33-year-old Emeka Ojukwu was using to buy weapons, build bunkers and more] and wanted Nigeria to convert the worthless currency to Nigerian Pounds after the Civil War ended BUT the Nigerian government said NO! Those secessionists notes were NOT legal tender. BUT Chief Awolowo insisted that anyone who could provide evidence and documentation of their money still remaining in any Nigerian bank would get it in FULL. Those who could got their money back in FULL. Those who couldn't got 20 Nigerian Pounds which was a very big amount of money that could buy plots of land just like my paternal grandfather did in Lagos State back in the 1960s when he bought plots of land for less than 20 Nigerian Pounds. I saw the receipt and land titles myself so 20 Nigerian Pounds is NOT a small money like I see some young Ibos ignorantly posting online thinking that 20 Nigerian Pounds of 1970/1971 was small. The Nigerian Pounds (later rebranded to the Nigerian Naira which Awolowo named as Naira in the 1970s as the (Federal Finance Minister) was also very strong in the 1960s right through to the oil boom era of the 1970s. |

Glimpsetv:Is this even an authentic account from a young lady or just another fable to trend online? |
aieromon:That's interesting. I noticed that Rotimi Amaechi can be very blunt and sometimes uses incorrect adjectives or exaggerated words to describe events that happen in his life and relationship with others. |
exposition:That person you quoted is very notorious for sometimes posting disinformation on this discussion forum. The young dude seems NOT to realize that others on this discussion forum are highly educated and are well-traveled. He's from Mbaise according to him so he's NOT an Ayade appointee. The Obudu ranch indeed attracted a lot of Nigerian and foreign tourists until a few years ago under the private managers that handled that place. With Cross River State's oil wells being transferred to Awka Ibom State and the loss of revenue from the Bakassi Peninsula which was transferred to Cameroon, Cross River State has NEVER been the same. The Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort in Ekiti State was voted as the BEST resort in Nigeria for 2 strait years in 2023 and 2024. @GoSeeIkogosi could end up being voted again in 2025 as the BEST resort in Nigeria because it has very good private managers who have built world-class chalets and hosts several conferences. The current Cross Rivers State Government can look at that model in Ekiti State and see how the Obudu Ranch can be reactivated with all those cable cars and more. The scenery in Obudu is simply breathtaking from the hills and must NOT go to waste. |
lagostrendboy:That's impressive. Indeed, the strong "immigrant drive" from all the men and women who migrated to the United States from different countries of the world is why they keep succeeding. This is in tandem with many books I've read over the years on the immigrant drive and survivor spirit from specific ethnic groups in the United States in the Iranian, Chinese, Jewish, Lebanese, Nigerian, Ethiopian, Japanese, Vietnamese, South Korean, etc, groups. Yup, "Smart Risk" built over the centuries. As for the academically vast septuagenarian, investment banker and U.S.-trained attorney, Mr. 'Bayo Ogunlesi and the Tech entrepreneur, 'Tope Awotona who are both from Ogun State of Ijebu descent, family and cultural values which tend towards instilling an entrepreneur mindset are key. Ijebus, Ijesas, Igbominas, Ondos, Ogbomosos, the Ejigbo folks of Osun State, etc, are some of the Yoruba sub groups that are well-known for their love for international travels and involvement in international business and industries. Matter-of-factly, all Yoruba subgroups that I've studied in the past from the Ekitis, to the Egbas, Ibadan, etc, have among them very wealthy, business-savvy, academically sound, and internationally well-traveled men and women living and working in the Diaspora and in Nigeria. The Oyo Empire, Benin Empire and Ashanti Empire became militarily and economically powerful because of long-distance trading with other vast kingdoms and Empires. The Oyo Empire for instance engaged in long-distance trades with the Hausa city states through the Nupe country for hundreds of years importing horses for the powerful Oyo cavalry, and exported all kinds of commodities such as kola nuts long before the the 1800s, and the Oyo Empire (which extended from modern Nigeria to modern Togo, with Yorubaland as well extending from Nigeria to Yorubaland in the Atakpame region of Togo) traded with Timbuktu and even the Ashanti Empire from 400 years ago as documented in advanced history books and archival materials. The is also why the GA people of Accra, Lababidi, and contiguous areas have ancestral ties with the Yoruba people of Nigeria because the ancestors of the Ga-Adangbe migrated centuries ago from Ile Ife and the current King or Ga Mantse paid a royal visit to Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi in 2022 to affirm the centuries long ancestral ties with the Yoruba people. During the historic inauguration of President John Mahama of Ghana in 2025, the two Kings, Ga Mantse and Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi sat next to one another. That's a fallout of long-distance trading and entrepreneurship honed from centuries back. |

Danjuma04:Some of these could be some Shiite Muslim youngsters jubilating because they got whooped into line in street protests by Buhari who isn't a Shiite during his time as President. Some indigenous Hausas too could also be part of those rejoicing because Buhari's foreign Fulani herder and militia kinsmen from the West African SaheIian countries were involved in the killing for decades now (as indicated in several videos posted by Hausas online that I've seen) of Hausa people while chasing them away from their Hausa homelands and illegally renaming some Hausa communities in the Hausa States to Fulani names. |
Nemere2020:While some of these points stated by Sam Omatseye are perfectly TRUE, governance is a continuum, and regardless of the painful obstacles that got in the way of the now President 'Bola Tinubu, it's supposed to propel him to do more by fixing any errors from the Buhari years since it's the same APC Party even though we are seeing some of Buhari's former Ministers who served with him including the man Babachir who was indicted for corruption in the grass cutting scam defecting to the so-called ADC coalition of strange bedfellows. This article should NOT be an attack on Buhari right now but used as a positive reflection by President 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu himself and his lieutenants or entire economic and security team for the benefit of ALL folks of Nigerian descent worldwide who are tired of the decades of a country that is classified for decades now as a significant underachiever. Period. |
casualobserver:Indeed, thanks for the updated info. The original video of that screenshot is from an old video where Buhari's voice can be heard speaking in Hausa language to his supporters on the issues of life and existence. I viewed the short video about 1 hour ago on a certain the YouTube channel of a certain Maiyegun which popped up via a quick online search. More credible sources such as the Federal Government of Nigeria, and news outlets such as the Channel Television will update everyone globally when the Presidential plane arrives in Nigeria. |

aminauiade:The Nigerian Presidential aircraft is being used to fly his remains back to Nigeria. That's a true Presidential honor done to Muhammadu Buhari. The ATTACHED photograph of President Tinubu's Chief-of-Staff, 'Femi Gbaja and the Vice-President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima is one of the iconic photoshots of this unfolding event which reminds us all of the mortality of the physical body on Earth. It's even more profound that Kabiyesi, the great Awujale of Ijebuland (HRM Oba Sikiru Adetona who is the first cousin of the Forbes-listed USD billionaire, Otunba Mike Adenuga) who ascended the throne 65 years ago in 1960, passed on at a stellar 91 years of age, on the same day as one of his friends Muhammadu Buhari. Destination: London to Katsina.

mayorall:@mayorall Aha! I appreciate the brllliant contexts and historical feedback from you on the "Wara Soya Beske" origins or etymology and I learned something new today. I've always known that Tofu (made from soybeans) ORIGINALLY has it's roots from China from over 2000 years ago where it is called Doufu and the Japanese call it Tofu but loaned the word from the Chinese word Doufu. BUT from the evidence here, it's called Awara/Wara/Beske in Nigeria by the Yorubas based on the quick online research I just did using the information in your post. The results are right BELOW. "Besike" as a word used in your post OBVIOUSLY has Yoruba origins based off of what you wrote right ABOVE. 1] Instagram · tinugrills =>https://www.instagram.com/p/CXjOgBwKh9J/%3Fhl%3Den It's called Tofu in English, Beske in Yoruba (ilorin) What is it called in your language? 2] "In Yoruba, Tofu is commonly known as "Beske" or "Awara". These terms are used interchangeably with "Tofu" in English, particularly in Yoruba-speaking regions of Nigeria." "Beske" is "fried Tofu" in Nigerian cuisine, specifically among Yoruba speakers in Nigeria. It's made from soy milk curds and is known as "awara" or "wara" in some regions. Peterobiisathie:Why is his name and facial identity being hidden or censored by Linda Ikeji? One of the BEST ways to curb these heinous crimes is to name and shame. The real names and the village or community including the family compounds and the traditional rulers of the hard drugs trafficker and more should henceforth be published in the media. This would serve as a major social deterant for those who may be thinking of engaging in these crimes. Period. |

Racoon:These successes coincidentally happened during that period in the 1990s BUT were made possible largely due to the collective hunger for success and the efforts of ALL the young sportsmen, women and their trainers. It totally had NOTHING to do with any military discipline inspired by that highly corrupt military dictator called Sani Abacha who shamelessly STOLE over 4 billion USD of Nigeria's money through the Central Bank of Nigeria into foreign offshore bank accounts in the Caribbean and Europe in what is now internationally known as the "Abacha Loot." The younger generation MUST be told the truth about what happened back in the 1990s contrary to the highly misleading posts from impressionable posters here romanticizing or claiming that Abacha did well. To be historically clear, those young sports people deserve ALL the praises far more than that military dictator [who under his grip, permitted the brutal assasinations of several pro-democrats such as Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, Olu Onagoruwa's son, the blowing up of the vehicle of the Chief Security Officer of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport], Sergeant Barnabas Jabila-Mshelia confessed at the Oputa Panel to the brutal gun attacks on the vehicles of Alex Ibru (the respected business mogul and publisher of the Guardian newspaper) and Chief Abraham Adesanya (which he survived perhaps due to the use of metaphysical powers to repel the bullets) by the military "Strike Force" led by Al-Mustapha, Barnabas Jabila-Mshelia (aka Sergeant Rogers) and co, had a liver ailment and knew he was gonna die any way. |
Everything that is happening today buttresses konquest's point. He often says that people should challenge these false stories and not just ignore them.@Naptu2 True that. I appreciate the mention in your succinct post. Indeed, historical revisionism has become a challenge (in this Age of AI when dealing with the younger generation who rely on the search engines and social media to get their information about past events in Nigerian history). They just simply go with second-hand or third-hand information posted online in such a way that the original folks involved would swear they do NOT recognize the re-written or embellished narratives. The military dictatorships back in the 1990s used NTA network news a lot to manipulate the viewers by spreading disinformation and Uche Chukwumerijie under Ibrahim Babangida, and Walter Ofonagoro under Sani Abacha served as Ministers of Information. Uche Chukwumerijie was very combative in helping to spread some of these disinformation to Nigerians. I had to stop watching NTA network news because it was just filled with half-truths back then. If it wasn't because of noble military officers such as Col. Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (Rtd) or Major General Isola Williams (Rtd) and more, I would have developed a life-long hatred for the military establishment. This is why I have a strong aversion to ANYTHING military coup. I remember there were series of bomb explosions in Ekiti State [and the second incident happened around the Obafemi Awolowo Way/Allen Avenue junction in Ikeja] where Col. Bawa, the first militiary administrator of Ekiti State's vehicle convoy was targeted around a junction, and the other Allen Avenue junction with Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja blast affected an army bus conveying several military men. The objective was to stir up anger in the military echelons towards the NADECO movement. The news on the blasts were reported on NTA network news as a suspected NADECO-sponsored attack which was a LIE based on the confessions by Barnabas Jabila-Mshelia (aka Sergeant Rogers) who originally confessed at the Oputa Panel that he took part in the assassination of Kudirat Abiola and he pulled the trigger as well. He also said in the recorded video that he took part in the gun attacks on the business mogul, Chief Alex Ibru of the Guardian who got badly injured but survived, and Chief Abraham Adesanya who the bullets allegedly didn't penetrate him due to fortifications. So, it's in the light of these FACTS that 'Kola Abiola definitely was told a LIE that the now President 'Bola Tinubu betrayed his father, Basorun MKO Abiola, BUT that was part of the mind-control that Sani Abacha and his Strike Force minions led by Major Hamza Al-Mustapha used to try to disorganized the pro-democracy movement. Tinubu will have to be at alert and ensure that the FALSE and recycled drug b*ron and drug l*rd allegation being pushed heavily online and offline by these paid ipob troll farms and more comes to a quick end by taking legal action against anyone for defamation of character using the platform of the newly signed Cyber Crime law. The United States Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria through the then Legal Attache of the United States Embassy Michael Bonner CLEARLY stated in February 2003 in an official document ATTACHED right BELOW addressed to Police investigators that the then Governor 'Bola Ahmed Tinubu has NEVER been arrested in the United States for any crime or convicted based on the ABSENCE of Tinubu's names in the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database of ALL arrests and convictions in the United States and her territories.

GloriousGbola:@GloriousGbola Absolutely well said. You were indeed very brave to have faced those criminals. If you hadn't taken the bold step, who knows what they would have done next. The instinct in you to survive was more paramount despite the injuries. Was that unfortunate experience in the same Festac Town or another location back in 2013? I used to live in the 5th Avenue area when Festac was still well-planned in the 1980s to the early 1990s. Second, we all deal with traumatic experiences differently and for a lot of people such as your spouse, the imprint of that traumatic experience of seeing you get injured with a machete and more was too vivid for her. Women ALSO have more vivid powers of memory recall since they use more of the right side of their brain which aids in creating emotionally-based mental images and creativity emerges hence women tend to read "body languages" and *non-verbal cues" a lot unlike most men who tend to use more of the left side of the brain and are more logical in reasoning. [This is why when you are going for a business deal, A woman might caution you about being scammed based on the FACT that she has read your body language and she sees you are too eager for the business deal to pull through]. |

RandDigital:The Department of Transport and two provinces plan to launch South Africa’s first rail network for long-distance high-speed rail (HSR) in 2030, TopAuto reports. The transport department and the Gauteng and Limpopo provincial governments recently provided an update on the project’s progress. The Limpopo-Gauteng Speed Train project is currently undergoing feasibility and environmental impact studies. Construction on the 500km north-south railway is expected to start in late 2026, with the first trains on the network operational by 2030. The planned line will run from Pretoria at its southernmost point to Musina in the far north of Limpopo (on the border with Zimbabwe), passing through Hammanskraal, Bela-Bela, Mokopane, Polokwane, and Louis Trichardt along the way. The first phase of the project will focus on a section between Pretoria and Polokwane, the capital city of Limpopo. It currently takes about two and a half to three hours to cover this route in a car via the N1, assuming there are no delays due to traffic or congestion at toll gates along the freeway. The “speed train,” often referred to as a “bullet train” by President Cyril Ramaphosa, will supposedly be able to cover the first section in one hour and 30 minutes — cutting an hour from the car journey time. The distance between Pretoria and Polokwane is roughly 265km, so the train should travel at an average speed of 177km/h along this stretch. While this is somewhat below the speeds of HSR services, the train would only need to exceed 200km/h on the fastest sections of the line to technically qualify as a “bullet train”. The Limpopo-Gauteng Speed Train will be rolled out alongside the second phase expansion of the Gautrain, which will see the high-speed commuter service’s network expand from 80km to 230km. However, the HSR master plan is only expected to be finalised by the end of 2025. This means the timeline could change. Former transport minister Sibusiso Ndebele first championed plans to launch a long-distance HSR line in South Africa in 2010. President Ramaphosa reaffirmed the country’s plans for the service in his 2019 State of the Nation Address (SONA). “We should imagine a country where bullet trains pass through Johannesburg as they travel from here to Musina, and they stop in Buffalo City on their way from eThekwini back here,” he said. Former transport director-general Alec Moemi said South Africa’s HSR framework had already been deployed and implemented and was anticipated to launch in 2025. The Johannesburg to Durban corridor was prioritised for a detailed feasibility study, as the government believes it presents a lucrative opportunity for competition with airlines. Ramaphosa said Johannesburg-Polokwane to Musina (to Zimbabwe border) and Johannesburg to Mbombela (to Mozambique border) will be put to the market,” the president said. While the government has said it will fully fund the project, big questions remain regarding its budget. Estimates put the cost of the Johannesburg-Durban HSR line alone at around $30 billion (R533.8 billion). However, the cost of the other most recent major railway project in South Africa — the Gautrain network — was grossly underestimated. The transport department, provincial governments, and private investors are working to secure the funding and finalise the technical plans. China has indicated interest in investing in the line between Johannesburg and Durban. The country has substantial experience and expertise in HSR. The South African government expects its HSR project to have a substantial positive economic impact, especially for job creation and tourism. In addition to passengers, the Gauteng Provincial Government previously said the train will be used to transport high-value goods and perishable foods. |
On his part, Peter Keulers, the Deputy Consul-General of Netherlands, narrated how a country of about 16 million people with 40,000 landmass became the second largest exporter of Agricultural produce in the world behind US. According to Keulers, the Netherlands Government gives strong financial and technical support to the sector. “Innovation is the secret behind the Dutch success story in the sector through cutting edge technology like the use of Drones, Robbots and Artificial intelligence abundantly deployed in the county,” he stated. Keulers noted that Nigeria plays a major role in the Agric space in the world while expressing the benefit they enjoyed in export having Germany as their neighbour. Genuine partnership according to him “is the key to deepening the Agric sector and ensure food security that benefits both countries.” Vanguard News =>https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/02/usa-netherlands-partner-lagos-in-upscaling-potentials-in-agric-eco-system/ |
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, has said that the Agrinnovation Club was the creation of an eco-system where young farmers and entrepreneurs network and collaborate with each other by adding value to the Agriculture sector. Olusanya expressed hope that the Agrinnovation Club will become bigger and outlived the tenure of the current administration. According to her, “The Club is to showcase what the Lagos State Government is doing to the world by expanding businesses beyond the shores of the country.” Olusanya noted that the mandate of the ministry was to ensure overall social well being of the people through sustainable growth to impact on accessibility and affordability of food to the residents of the state. The commissioner however, said that government alone cannot provide for all the needs of the people except for genuine networking among those in the eco system to make it more effective. She explained that their intention was to revolutionise how people see Agriculture in the country driven by innovation and Technology. Olusanya believed that demonstrating to people that there are endless opportunities to money in the country despite the economic challenges would change the narrative on Japa. gmo10:His visits to the Caribbean nations of St. Lucia and then Brazil for the BRICS meeting were highly significant. As someone who has followed international geopolitical events for decades now, I followed President 'Bola Tinubu's trips to those two countries and it was a historic masterstroke that MUST be sustained. Coincidentally, the Indian leader ALSO flew right into Trinidad and Tobago where there's a huge immigrant population of Indian Subcontinent descendants who arrived in the 1800s as indentured workers (just like they did in Guyana, South Africa, etc) after the British abolished plantation slavery. The Indian immigrants helped to sustain the labor on those plantations. The Indian communities and others welcomed him and historic e onomic deals were signed BEFORE he finally flew to Brazil just like President 'Bola Tinubu did. |

Glimpsetv:What sort of sensationalism is this? I don't see a very large crowd in that video. Second, she's talking as if Belarus is a poor country with uneducated folks which it isn't. Coincidentally I read and watched documentaries years back about Belarus. The standard of education is very high in that country being a former member of the defunct Soviet Union which placed strong emphasis on the sciences, engineering, etc, so you have a large pool of men and women who are today in the tech ecosystem, investment banking and more. Third, for those trying to get to Belarus through their embassy in Nigeria, I hope some of them are NOT allowing themselves to be foolishly recruited to go and fight in the Russian-Ukraine War through Belarus which is a key ally of Russia? Belarus has also faced Western sanctions for allowing Russia to use it's territory to launch attacks on Ukraine. There is ALSO CLEARLY a language barrier so they have to learn the local language. Due diligence is key. Period. |
