I honestly give up on this Korra Obidi chick. A very raw appearance that can divert the attention of some folks.

She still thinks in her coconut head that she's still in her Asaba community of the 1700s right into the very early 1900s [when her younger female ancestors who lived in that time period moved around half-naked with NO cloths covering the upper body EXCEPT the tiny loin cloth covering the private lower parts].

SultanOfPuna:
I have lived alone in apartment from 2019 to 2023
Due to financial struggles i relocated to my parents house 2023 since then i'm still with them

Now its 2 years and i have gotten financially stable and solid.

I want to leave but my parents are old and they want me to be around them at this stage of their life.

My parents are really old
My siblings are all married except me. My siblings are in different states far away from my parents. I'm the only one closer to them

I'm the one taking care of the house and making sure things are in order.
But deep down i want to leave the house and go create my own family.

If i leave them and move out i fear that things will be out of order and disorganised due to old age.

Unfortunately no younger sibling to help look after them.

What should i do?
I must commend you for your thoughtfulness towards the welfare of your very old parents among all your siblings who you say are married and live in different states. They MUST have been really fantastic parents to you despite the usual minor quarrels we sometimes had with our parents, especially our mothers, and many of them still remained lovable folks.

I have a father who is an early octogenarian so what you wrote resonates with me.

Based off of what you stated in your second post about a nanny maltreating and poisoning an elderly woman, I will suggest that YOU RENT a house and/or BUILD your house near where your senior citizen parents live so that you can ALWAYS see them at least once or twice weekly and have more freedom for your own life.

Second, getting to do a major background check on every nanny is VERY important and get their biological family details including those of their guarantors. Take them to the Police HQ to profile them and their mobile phone numbers for added security since the Nigerian Police offers such services. With that, domestic staff will be less likely to steal or harm you.

Some of the Nanny and domestic staff recruitment agencies in Nigeria have over the years recruited confirmed kidnappers and criminals who went on to kidnap the kids of their employers, poison, and outrightly bring armed robbers into the houses of their employers. So due diligence is key.

NO matter what it's always good to have a Plan B or C in life.

Cheers.

Klass99:
I think you have a good point but Pans.ophist also made some valid points, your response and reaction to him wasn't necessary.

Let's try and debate the issue sensibly and in a civil manner.

1. The difference between parents and children is that, parents made a choice to have children and that choice comes with responsibilities and obligations some of which you listed above. Children on the other hand didn't make a choice to come into this world, to have parents or to have the sort of situation OP is in thrust upon them. As children we try to make the best of it, by doing good, doing right and doing well by our parents.

2. It is a natural course of life that children will grow up one day and leave home. This is a normal and old practice, even the bible talks about a man leaving his parents to cleave to his wife. We leave the nest to build our lives and live out our dreams or purpose, most times that means physically parting from parents and leaving them behind.

3. Parents and children were never meant to be together until death do them part. That is an exclusive reserve of married couples. The OP"s parents are the ones who should be together till death does them part. I understand the sentiment you expressed about parents being old, doing things for us and wanting us around in old age, but I think what most of them truly need is companionship.

4. It can be companionship from one another as a couple, from their friends, church community, or a group of people with same interests, etc. It must not necessarily be from the physical presence of their children. This is one of the reasons why I believe companionship is more important in marriage than children. I also don't like this idea we have of birthing kids so they can look after us in old age. It creates scenarios like the one OP is in now and emotional blackmail as well.

5. I cannot relate to the desire or need, to bring non-existent people into existence, just so they can take care of us in old age. It is a lot work if you ask me, because the work you will do for those children before you reach old age, will be more than the work they'll do for you in return. And if they are children who refuse to catch sense, premium heartache and pain awaits you in old age.

6. So, yes, while parents fed us and took care of us, it was their responsibility and duty to do so, as a matter of the choice they made to bring us into this world. While we also have a duty to do right by them as godly and sensible children, we can do that without necessarily living with them.

My own mother told me once that while they do not see me often they feel my impact from miles away through the financial support I provide. Pansop.hist is not wrong when he says they should adopt children, in my case, we have a young girl of University age who lives with my parents.

She's in her 3rd year now, she's not a blood relative, I don't know how or where my mum found her but they've put her through primary and secondary school, now she's almost through with University.

I am more quick to send that girl pocket money for her personal use, than I am, to send to some of my own blood relatives. Blood is not thicker than water for me when it comes to that girl, the value she has provided and continues to provide exceeds the value some blood relatives have provided.
@Klass99,

Succinctly stated.

I like the FACT that you emphasized on civility and topical focus (to that poster you quoted) while having any convo right there. Second, you further gave insightful feedbacks and perspectives here as well. Those are organic and classic thoughts from the "Klass99" I've always known."

For me, I already have the required funds set aside for when I hit 60 and ABOVE which is the beginning of the senior citizens' years of existence. We MUST NOT depend totally on our children to survive in old age. In a WORSE case scenario, what if they pass on from sudden illness or sudden plane or helicopter crashes while flying within Nigeria or internationally BEFORE you pass on at 95 years of age? This is where ALL of us need to have contingency plans (Plans A, B, and C) for our senior citizen years.

Last but not least, you ain't gonna leave here like you earlier stated on that Seun's thread. "Objection sustained!" *Drops the gavel*

Enjoy your day.

Ciao. wink

goran3310:
I'll tell you brutally honestly from personal experience. And other men feel the same way. Few want to admit it.

When you divorce a woman, you also divorce your children.

A man changes during a divorce. Divorce is a major trauma for a man, much greater than for a woman.

Psychologically, a man changes, and he is never again the man he was before.

How the psychological process unfolds:
* A complete breakdown of everything he believed in.
* Complete disappointment in the woman for whom he was ready to give his life.
* From all of this, the conclusion is drawn: She is the wrong woman.

A second after that conclusion follows: I had children with the wrong woman. Wrong woman = wrong genetics = wrong offspring = wrong children.

In the meantime, the court has awarded custody of the children to the woman.

By default, a woman alone cannot raise children properly + you are separated from these children and are unable to influence their further development. You helplessly watch as these children deteriorate under the influence of bad company and media, social networks, etc., neglected by their mother. All of this only confirms your conclusion that these children are wrong.

You become increasingly certain that you made a mistake and wasted your time. You frantically search for the right woman with whom to have new children.

You invest all your resources in this endeavor.

Staying in the marriage:
The children grow up in a toxic marriage where the father is daily humiliated and bullied. This is an example of behavior for the children that they will adopt as normal and what these children will bring into their own marriage in the future.

In the end, the man is completely destroyed. He divorces when the children are grown.
I'm ONLY just seeing this thread.

While a few aspects of the post right ABOVE are true and a normal transitory path when going through a separation OR divorce from a WRONG woman, I totally disagree with a large part of the post right ABOVE.

A significant number of us men bond VERY well with our children from the WRONG women or spouses we have been separated OR divorced from. Blood is thicker than water and our children give us joy through their good academic performances, good behavior, and much more.

Co-parenting is the BEST thing to do when faced with that WRONG or toxic woman in our lives. This helps both parties to go back and engage in deep introspection so as to jointly bring up the kids together.

BUT NO matter how bad a woman is, the children can NEVER be totally disliked by us men as long as we are present in their lives after the divorce.

There are several books and Websites men can glean functional information on proper co-parenting.

..Before Igbo arrival in the Aro territory, a group of proto Ibibio migrated to the area and established the Ibom Kingdom during the Bantu expansion. This proto Ibibio group originally came from Usak Edet (Isanguele), a segment of the Ejagham in present-day Southern Cameroon. The Eze Agwu clan from Abiriba, initiated Igbo migration into the region around the mid-17th century. The Ibibio clan welcomed all until some started rebelling against the ruling house. The Eze Awgu group who lead the rebellion against the ruling family aligned with several outside forces like the Priest Nnachi from the Edda group near Afikpo, was called by their king Awgu Inobia (Eze Agwu) for help. When he arrived, Nnachi and Eze Agwu allied with prince Akakpokpo Okon of the Ibibio kingdom of Ibom Kingdom. Akakpokpo Okon was the son of a marriage between an Igbo woman of the Eze Agwu clan and the King Obong Okon Ita in an attempt of a peace treaty for a war that have been fought between the Igbo subgroup and Ibibio. The Eze Agwu/Nnachi faction decided to help Akakpokpo attempt to overthrow his brother king Akpan Okon

NDLEA Busts International Dr¥g Syndicate at Lagos Airport, Seizes 51kg of Lo¥d and Cash in Lekki Raid

Two British nationals: Mhizha Jordan Alexander Tatendra and Ayedipe Andrew Adejuwon as well as two Nigerians identified as Shonowo Oluwaseun Imole and Ofuoma Omokaro Ayobami have been arrested by NDLEA operatives for attempting to smuggle into Nigeria 92 bags of Lo¥d, a strong strain of c@nnabis weighing 51.10kg through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA Ikeja Lagos.

This was revealed in a signed statement by the agency’s Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

Alexander was intercepted with the consignment upon his arrival at the MMIA on a Qatar Airline flight from Doha based on processed intelligence on Thursday 15th May.

He was allowed to pass through the security control unhindered and closely monitored by NDLEA operatives to the car park, where the owner of the cargo, Ayedipe Andrew Adejuwon, who is a Nigerian British, was waiting in an SUV along with his relation Shonowo Oluwaseun Imole and the driver of the vehicle, Ofuoma Omokaro Ayobami, to receive the courier.

The NDLEA operatives tracking them however swooped on them as they attempted to drive out of the airport car park, arresting them with the dr¥g exhibits in the vehicle.

In his statement, Alexander confessed he was recruited during his vacation weeks ago while he was promised 1,300 British Pounds after a successful delivery of the consignment in Lagos.

The arrowhead of the syndicate, Ayedipe Andrew Adejuwon, confessed that he arrived in Nigeria a day earlier from South Africa through Ghana.

A follow-up operation at their apartment in Lekki led to more discoveries. At the point of his arrest, N93,000 and 17,200 South African Rand were recovered from him while a search of his Lekki apartment, led to the seizure of Three Million Eight Hundred and Ten Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N3,810,500) cash, an Apple laptop, an iPhone 14 Pro Max and four laughing gas (Nitro Oxide) canisters.

Driving on a straight line is always faster and no hold ups, no threat of kidnappers on coastal highway. Easy straight road.

Connectivity is another thing it connects easily Lagos Victoria Island to Calabar, people living along lekki expressway can easily connect to the highway, instead of going to mainland to connect.. Your article reeks of bitterness.
The Bayelsa axis (especially the Southern Ijaw area) is of security concern because it's prone to kidnappings. That is a state where kidnappers took into captivity the then sitting Governor Seriake Dickson's biological sister who was ONLY released 2 months later. It was widely reported in the news and Seriake Dickson even vowed NOT to pay any ransom money to the Ijaw kidnappers. Incidentally, those bad Ijaw armed robbers, kidnappers, bank robbers with speedboats through the waterways of Ikoyi, VI, and pipeline vandals, etc, who were disturbing Yorubaland over the years from the Goodluck Jonathan years until recently (Victoria Island, Ikorodu, Epe, in Lagos State, Arepo and Ogun Waterside in Ogun State, and Ondo State) ALL migrated from Bayelsa and Delta States to cause chaos. The videos of how the Nigerian Air Force jet fighters bombed the hell out of those Ijaw criminal elements hiding right inside the creeks of Arepo in Ogun State to steal petrol, engage in armed robberies and kidnappings including the kidnap right from his Palace and dragged into a speedboat of a the First Class Oba of Ibaland (Oniba of Iba in 2016) is still online under the "Operation Awatse" air component campaign in 2016 under President Muhammadu Buhari who ordered the air attacks on the Ijaw male and female bandits who had red cloth tied to their arms to free the Oba of Iba kingdom and others who were kidnapped right in Lagos and Ogun States.

Therefore, the Federal Government in Nigeria, the Bayelsa State and even Delta State (where some lazy elements among the Ijaws might want to kidnap people for ransom or engage in armed robberies) MUST be taken care of to increase the incomes and economic levels of everyone through catfish, tilapia, and crayfish aquaculture, agribusiness in hybrid plantain farming, continuous educational trainings and seminars to open up the eyes of younger Ijaw folks to the unlimited opportunities on the Internet which is the biggest University on Earth and more.

If these suggestions are NOT done, that Lagos-Calabar Highway will become unsafe.

AnambraPeople:
Benue Couple Narrates How they Built Anambra's Fastest Growing Restaurant, Opened 12 Outlets in 13 Years.

A Benue couple, Hon. Peter Abayol and Pastor Mrs. Ifeoma Abayol, has opened up on their entrepreneurial journey, detailing how their fast food venture — Chillis Foods —survived the odds and blossomed across Nigeria, with Anambra State proving to be their most receptive and fertile ground for growth.

In what can best be described as a journey fueled by passion and sustained by grace, the couple recounted how they have continued to leave a delectable imprint on the food and hospitality industry through their thriving culinary enterprise

In an exclusive interview, Pastor Mrs. Ifeoma Abayol, who hails from Enugu State by birth but is married to Hon. Peter Abayol from Benue State, narrated how her deep love for good food and the desire to serve quality meals in a serene environment spurred the idea of venturing into the fast food industry over a decade ago.

According to her, she often found herself disappointed by the quality of food served at most restaurants, which rarely met her taste standard. This recurring dissatisfaction, she recalled, rather than dissuade her, ignited a vision in her, gradually inspired and stirred up a desire in her to start something different — a food business that would replicate the delicious and satisfying taste of homemade meals.

Though the ambition was clear and the vision compelling, translating these into reality came with enormous challenges. Faced with the daunting task of executing what she described as a “gigantic project”, they had no financial muscle to start, while several banks turned down their requests for funding, insisting they lacked the necessary structural framework. Undeterred by rejection, however, she leaned on faith, resilience, and passion to stay the course.

“That made us go back to our savings, borrowed money from close friends and sold one or two properties that we acquired back then to start the business. So it was a very tough beginning but thank God for where we are today,” she recounted.

She revealed that the venture officially kicked off on May 19, 2012 with just one outlet, while two years later, they opened a second branch, and by 2021, Chillis experienced an explosive expansion, launching three additional branches in a year. That, according to her, marked a significant milestone in the journey, as it reinforced the brand’s growth and its acceptance by the public. As at May 2025, thirteen years after kick off, Pastor Abayol, said Chillis Foods has already built twelve branches across various states in the southeastern region and beyond.

Speaking on some of the major challenges she has encountered, she pointed to staff management as a persistent issue. She explained that the fast food sector typically witnesses high staff turnover, which they have not been exempted from. However, she further noted that as the business grew, it became easier to manage such transitions, since replacements could be made more seamlessly without disrupting operations.

In her words, what has sustained the business is not just consistency in operations but also consistency in taste. Many customers, she said, commend Chillis Foods for its home-like nature, which she considers one of their strongest selling points.

Interestingly, while many businesses struggled or shut down during the COVID-19 pandemic, Pastor Abayol said Chillis Foods witnessed what she described as an “uncommon breakthrough.” According to her, with limited dining options available due to lockdowns then, many customers turned to Chillis for their food needs. That period, she observed, was both surprising and rewarding for the brand.

PoliticsRe: I’m Not Desperate To Be President, I Just Want Nigeria To Work - Peter Obi by Konquest: 5:23am On May 27, 2025
Metrix147:
The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has declared that he is not desperate to become Nigeria’s President, but rather desperate to see the country work effectively for the benefit of its citizens, ABN TV reports.

Obi made this known on Saturday during a special Anniversary Sabbath service held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Umuahia, Abia State, to commemorate two years of Governor Alex Otti's administration.

The former Anambra State Governor emphasized the challenges of leading a country like Nigeria, especially for leaders committed to doing what is right. He called on the people of Abia to pray for Governor Otti and members of his cabinet, stressing the importance of divine guidance in leadership.

“It is difficult to govern Nigeria or any of its states, especially when you are determined to do the right thing,” Obi stated. “When I say to people I am not desperate to be President, I am desperate to see Nigeria work.”

He urged Nigerians to consistently pray for their leaders, encouraging those in positions of authority to use public funds judiciously and for the collective good.

Obi commended Governor Otti for what he described as “two years with a difference,” noting that real change in governance does not necessarily require long tenures.

“People always say they need eight years, ten years, or even twenty years to make an impact. But I have always said that one day can make a difference. What is happening in Abia today, we want to see it happen everywhere in Nigeria,” he remarked.

In his response, Governor Alex Otti attributed the progress made by his administration in the past two years to divine guidance and strength from God. He expressed gratitude to Peter Obi for his consistent support, and also appreciated the Abia State legislature, judiciary, and members of the Church for their prayers and encouragement.

CelebritiesRe: Alleged $1 Million Fraud: P-Square's Peter Lied About Education - Defence Lawyer by Konquest: 11:25pm On May 26, 2025
Morbeta11:
In a dramatic turn of events in the ongoing fraud trial involving Nigerian music star Peter Okoye of P-Square and their former manager Jude Okoye, the defence counsel, Clement Onwuenwunor, SAN, on Friday accused Peter of deliberately misleading the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, with false and contradictory claims.

The EFCC had arraigned the defendant alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd on a four-count charge.

In one of the counts, Jude and his Northside Music Limited allegedly dishonestly converted the sum of $767,544.15 to his use.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In his evidence in chief on May 16, Peter had narrated how he was allegedly defrauded by his brother Jude and Northside Entertainment.

However during cross examination, on Friday, defence lawyer, Onwuenwunor pointedly told the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, presided over by Justice Rahman Oshodi that Peter’s testimony was riddled with inconsistencies and outright fabrications intended to mislead the EFCC and tarnish the reputation of the defendant, Jude Okoye.

During a heated cross-examination, the defence discredited Peter’s earlier statement to the EFCC in which he described himself as a graduate of the University of Abuja.

Contrary to that claim, Onwuenwunor revealed that Peter had, in fact, dropped out of the institution.

When confronted with the discrepancy between his oral claims and written EFCC testimony, Peter attempted to backtrack, stating that he had only said he “attended” the university.

However, the defence tendered the EFCC’s documented records in which Peter specifically described himself as a “graduate,” prompting him to admit in open court that he had not completed his studies.

Jude Okoye, Psquare’s elder brother, released from Ikoyi prison after N1.3bn fraud charge
‘Family that breaks you isn’t worth it,’ Peter Okoye writes after testifying against brother Jude

Onwuenwunor further presented documentary evidence proving that Peter and his twin brother Paul were not only aware of but also had signatory access to Northside Entertainment Limited accounts.

Contrary to Peter’s earlier claim that Jude Okoye was the sole signatory and that he had no access to financial dealings, the defence produced a bank mandate clearly stating that Jude was a Category A signatory, while Peter and Paul were Category B signatories.

The defence counsel also submitted bank statements that showed Peter personally withdrew large sums in both naira and dollars from the company’s account.

There were also multiple direct transfers made to him by Jude Okoye. These records stood in direct contradiction to Peter’s sworn statement that he never benefited financially from the company or from any deals executed under Jude’s management.

Onwuenwunor also questioned Peter over his claim regarding royalty payments from Mad Solutions, the company handling the P-Square music catalogue.

Peter had previously testified that he was unaware of the contract with Mad Solutions and had only received $25,000 and $20,000 in royalty payments, implying that Jude had siphoned the larger share.

But the defence countered the narrative by presenting documents to the court confirming that the agreement with Mad Solutions was signed by all three parties—Jude, Peter, and Paul—and that each had equal entitlement to royalty payments.

The document contrary to Peter’s assertion, according to the defence, revealed that he actually received $4,330.47 and $5,837.35 as his first and second payments, respectively—figures far lower than the $25,000 and $20,000 he claimed under oath.

“Peter’s testimony before the EFCC is riddled with lies and misrepresentations. He has made multiple assertions that have now been shown to be false under cross-examination. This is not just a matter of forgetfulness. This is an intentional effort to mislead investigators and this honourable court,”Onwuenwunor told the court.

Justice Oshodi, while admitting several of the bank documents and EFCC statements into evidence, advised the defence to ensure all documents are made available to the prosecution ahead of further proceedings.

“If you intend to use a document, make it available to them to make the trial faster,” the judge said.

The trial was adjourned to October 10 and 17, 2025, for continuation of trial.

PoliticsRe: Lagos Tops World’s Fastest Growing Tech Cities In 2025 by Konquest: 10:05pm On May 26, 2025
Kemetian:
Lagos has been named the world’s fastest-growing tech city for 2025, according to the Global Tech Ecosystem Index 2025 released by Netherlands-based research firm Dealroom.co.

The Nigerian commercial hub tops the list ahead of Istanbul, Turkey, and Pune, India. Lagos was ranked under the “Rising Stars” category, highlighting cities with rapidly expanding tech ecosystems that are outperforming global counterparts in growth relative to their economic size.

According to Dealroom.co, Lagos has achieved an 11.6x increase in ecosystem valuation since 2017 and has produced five tech unicorns: Interswitch, Flutterwave, Jumia, OPay, and Moniepoint. These accomplishments have set Lagos apart as a prime destination for startups and venture capital in Africa and beyond.

“This year, Lagos (#1) is topping the list, having created five unicorns and grown its ecosystem valuation 11.6x since 2017 despite having a smaller economy,” the report stated.

Other cities rounding out the top five fastest-growing tech hubs include:

1) Lagos, Nigeria
2) Istanbul, Turkey
3) Pune, India
4) Belo Horizonte, Brazil
5) Curitiba, Brazil

Additional cities highlighted in the report include Mumbai (India) and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), signalling strong momentum in emerging markets across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The “Rising Stars” list evaluates cities based on startup ecosystem growth, unicorn creation, and increases in enterprise value—factors adjusted for local GDP and cost of living to ensure fair comparisons.

The rise of Lagos as a global tech powerhouse has coincided with strategic investments under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The Lagos State Science Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) has made over ₦1 billion in grants available to support local startups.

Reacting to the report, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, quoted Governor Sanwo-Olu saying: “We are thrilled but not surprised because of the hard work that our youths are doing. We plan to make Lagos a big centre for tech experts. If Microsoft or Google and other giants are looking for good hands, there will be a big pool from which they can draw.”

NwaAmaikpe:
shocked

A whitelady that married a blackman against the will of her people, gave him a stay in the country, spoils him silly with gifts and worships the ground he steps on will readily smash his phone out of sexual frustration.
Sex is not a want, it is a need.
That is why it is called S.EX, meaning So Esssential.

The Bible says in Songs of Solomon 8;4, "do not awaken love till it is it's time" because the Bible knows that once you have tasted sex or orgasm, it becomes a need for your body that must be sustained.

You cannot fool nature.
Pastors tell us to be celibate but the Lord in his infinite wisdom sends his angels to give us wetdreams so that we can ejaculate and maintain our sanity.

Yet the same pastor will tell us we have spirit wives and spirit husbands rather than tell us to respond better while making love in our dreams.

Biology may call this wetdreams, but reality proves it is simply water finding its level.

People do very irrational things just for sex and it is called sex-deprivation-induced-temporary-insanity.

A married man will lie that his wife is dead so he can furk a stranger, normal people will shag imbeciles and madwomen, even classy ladies will molest school children due to the chemical imbalance that exists when there has been insufficient or no sexual release.

That's why our eyes clear when we cum, but it does not actually clear, we regain our sanity.
Absalom didn't know it was incest till he ejaculated; suddenly he couldn't stand the same lady he was once obsessed about.

The court will acquit a man who shot his wife dead after walking in on her cheating, likewise it will acquit a woman who strangled her lover to death while straddling him in the course of lovemaking; because both could be attributed to temporary insanity in the throes of passion.

Just like I'd blame women who sex-starve their husbands and then they end up doing outrageous things like shagging a donkey or masturbating in public buses, I'd also blame this man for withholding his preek.

Sex is not overrated, it is actually underrated.

After oxygen and food, the next basic need of an adult is good sex.
Never underestimate the power of a good preek, 82% of all bitter women are preek deprived, while 70% of all core women-haters are involuntary celibates.

If you have a man, open your legs for him more than you open your Bible. Because the former will save that relationship while the later will also confirm to you that while respect is the block of a union, sex is it's mortar.
Some key points in your long post right ABOVE might be true BUT other key points are completely off the trail.

Those who engage in highly debasing sex acts such as having non-consentual sex with mentally challenged women and sex abuse of minors CLEARLY "lack mental discipline" and it purely has NOTHING to do with whether their male or female spouses denied them of sex or NOT.
There are dudes in world history who have sex as-and-when-due but still got caught sleeping with farm animals or molesting minors just for the kick of it. Period.
FoodRe: Cost Of Living: Nigerians Seek Alternatives As Beef Goes Out Of Reach by Konquest:
iwaeda:
Awara, roasted fish to the rescue

Some consumers told Weekend Trust that they switched to soyabeans cake popularly called awara and roasted fish due to the rising cost of beef.

They said for ceremonies and special occasions, rather than buy beef, they now purchase soyabeans cake and roasted fish to prepare their meals.

A consumer, Ibrahim Mohammed, said he used to buy beef in large quantities but now prefers fish—even though it is also expensive.

“I buy meat a lot but because of its rising cost, I have reduced consumption. I still buy meat but I buy roasted fish more. A kilogram of beef now is N6,500, something I bought for N4,000 or less in the past. So, even though fish is also costly, if you buy N6,500 worth of roasted fish, it would take you longer days,” he said.

Aliyu Abdulmalik also told our correspondent that roasted fish is cheaper, especially in rural areas, which is why he now prefers fish over beef.

Mallama Habiba Mohammed, a resident of Bosso, said they now use soyabeans cake instead of meat when preparing stews.

“Beef now is for the elite. We use Soyabean cake and sometimes, we don’t use anything. We just cook our stew like that,” she said.

Insecurity deepens scarcity

In Bauchi and Maiduguri, rising insecurity has worsened the situation. Boko Haram attacks have made it dangerous for herders to move cattle freely across the North-East, causing a drop in supply, Weekend Trust gathered.

“In the past, we got plenty of cattle from neighbouring countries like Chad and Cameroon,” said Alhaji Adamu Musa, a major cattle dealer in Bauchi. “Now, dealers don’t want to come here because the naira has lost value and the security risk is too high.”

Musa added that animal feed prices have also skyrocketed. “Maize and wheat bran are too expensive. Even those fattening cattle for sale are struggling,” he said.

At Maiduguri’s Gamboru cattle market, a butcher, Nasiru Ali, said the cost of a cow has jumped from N800,000 to N1.5 million in just a few months. “Customers say our beef is too expensive. But we too are barely breaking even.”

A cattle merchant in Abuja, Faruk Sulaiman, said their main source of cattle from states in the North west is in crisis, since the neighbouring country of Niger banned cattle exportation. “Before I used to supply cows from areas like Kafur, in Katsina State and return to Abuja on the same day. But following the embargo, I decided to travel to the border town of Maiaduwa in the same Katsina State, which is an international market.

“Things are very difficult even at the market, as you find about three people struggling to buy a single cow.”

The cow merchant said a cow sold for N1.1 million in January this year is now about N1,5 million, following the ban by the government of Niger Republic.

“Before, I could buy like six to seven cattle from a single market, but all I can buy now is three -four cows from a single trip,” he lamented. The cattle merchant called for a diplomatic solution between Nigeria and the Niger republic, in order to save the situation from escalating.

A slaughtered cow he noted is divided into various pieces like cow head, tail and legs, and all parts are carefully selected and portioned. [b]~He said the prices of cow parts have risen significantly. He said presently, the head of a medium ranched cow is sold for N80,000, while the herders’ cow sold at N50,000. A leg of a medium ranched cow costs around N15,000, while a herder’s cow, is sold at around N8000. The tail of the ranched cow is sold at N50,000, while that of a herder, cost about N30,000, he explained.

Alhaji Umar Sulaiman is the Sarkin Fawa, or butcher’s chief in Kubwa town. He disclosed that they used to slaughter between 30-40 cows on days like Fridays and Saturdays but they only slaughter like between 15 -20 cows now.

He said the cow they buy from the cattle market within the FCT, like Abaji, and Keffi in neighbouring Nassarawa State, that used to cost about N800,000 now go for about N1.2 million, with the additional transport cost, that contribute to the price of the meat, he added.

“As a result, you would find that many butchers can no longer afford to slaughter cows daily like before. I went to the SCC road cattle market located along the Bwari-Jere highway on Tuesday, with the intention to buy three cows, but I could not afford to get any cow at the market based on what I had budgeted for.

“I just returned disappointed without any cow. This is the current situation that we find ourselves in”, the butcher’s chief lamented. He disclosed that the herders who provide the majority of the cows that they buy are gradually losing their cows to the rustlers and also to the conflicts with farmers, citing what took place in states like Plateau, recently.

FG speaks

The Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Iddi Mukhtar Maiha, acknowledged that the system is broken and must be reformed. In a recent programme in Abuja, he described the current trade system as “outdated, wasteful, and misaligned with global best practices.”
https://dailytrust.com/cost-of-living-nigerians-seek-alternatives-as-beef-goes-out-of-reach/
There's a lot of absolutely lame posts on this thread because some creeps here don't read to understand based off of their tribalistic and primordial confirmation biases.

The article CLEARLY shows that the primary cause of the expensive meat is due to the Niger Republic banning the EXPORT of beef. Most of the cow meat or hides and skins consumed right in Nigeria for several decades now do NOT come from Nigeria BUT from Niger Republic, Mali, and other West African Sahelian countries through the Fulanis. So, the idea of insulting the Nigerian Federal Government here by some posters for the cow scarcity and high cost is totally irresponsible.

It's even an opportunity for the Southern States to establish cattle and dairy ranches with hybrid cows for higher meat and milk production to totally cut off these minority foreign ethnic Fulani monopolists who have aided banditry and displacements among the indigenous and larger ethnic groups in Nigeria.

In any event, there are well-known beef or meat alternatives that a globally known and these can be explored because they are even far BETTER than beef in terms of protein and nutritional content. Tofu is one of them. Period.

OK, I'll do a quick check on what you posted above. Indeed, some posters might just want to de-market the Realme C75 brand since you say it was only launched in April 2025. If there is any need to truly upgrade that phone brand to prevent "hangings" and other SNAFUS, then that should be done ASAP so that brand loyalty can be retained.

Sometimes the phone will trip off and refuse to come on for minutes but the last straw that broke the camel's back was when my daughter's own tripped off and refuse to power on for almost a week. You be real G.

Gen Z call it moi-moi but it's actually mai-mai.
@Zonefree,

I found this NL thread while Google searching for some info on my favorite iconic Planta Margarine (which had a unique taste and was popularly sold in big Nigerian department stores such as Kingsway Store, Leventis, UTC from the 1970s to the late 1990s).

Now to the real meat. You are very WRONG with what you wrote in the bolded section of your post right ABOVE. It's NOT actually "mai mai" which is the misleading Ibo (Igbo) corruption of the pure Yoruba name for the internationally recognized Yoruba delicacy called "Moin Moin" or spelled in full "Moyin Moyin" with the letter Y [it's also called "Olele" and when wrapped in leaves it called Moin Moin Elewe by Yorubas based on regional locations because different parts of Yorubaland can have more than one Yoruba word for the same thing. Walnut for example is called "Asala" and it's ALSO called "Awusa" in different parts of Yorubaland. That's how the name "Alausa" in Ikeja, Lagos State evolved because of the large Walnut OR "Awusa" plantations that existed there] or even the spelling "moi moi" which DID NOT begin from the so-called Gen Z like you stated BUT I started noticing the usage by some newspapers from the late 1990s. For instance Fluted Pumpkin is a universal crop but Ibos spell the Fluted Pumpkin leaves as: "Ugu NOT Ugwu." The Yorubas call Fluted Pumpkin leaves "Ewe Woroko" with the word Ewe meaning leaves in Yoruba language. "Ewe Taba" in Yoruba language means "Tobacco leaves" and "Taba" is a loan word which is ALSO used by the Hausa language speakers as well and DERIVED from the word "Tabacum" from the fuller Tobacco botanical name "Nicotiana tabacum." I will give you more historical insights as an older man here with vast historical experience and you will understand better.

[b]The correct or proper Yoruba spelling is "Moin Moin" or in full "Moyin Moyin" meaning to stick to the teeth as of today NOT "moi moi" or even the corrupted "mai mai" you Ibo folks call it. It's the same with the Yoruba name Egunsi (or Egusi) which is another pure Yoruba word which Ibos call "Egwusi" with the letter W. The "Longman Ibo-English Dictionary" which I've ATTACHED right BELOW was co-written several decades ago by a European and an erudite Ibo language scholar CLEARLY states that "Egwusi" is a LOAN WORD copied from the Yorubas or "YOR." There are significant loan words Ibos copied from other ethnic groups such a as the Yoruba, Hausa, Ibibio, Igala, Benin, which is quite normal BUT it's highly disingenuous for ANY young groups of Ibo persons to start claiming these words are Ibo words. Some highly uninformed younger Ibo posters started using insulting language against Yoruba folks on an NL Food thread in 2024 claiming FALSELY that "Egunsi" belongs to the Ibo language until well-educated folks of both Yoruba and non-Yoruba origin brought up the EVIDENCE of screenshots from the Longman Ibo-English Dictionary right BELOW which clearly states that the word "Egwusi" is a loan word copied from the Yoruba language. It's NOT even strange because the Igala people who have part Yoruba ancestry and speak a Yoruboid language which shares 65% mutual intelligibility and words with the rest of Yoruba language (with the other percentage of Igala language being largely of Idoma language origin) based on the 2017 Punch interview the late Attah of Igala Michael Ameh Oboni granted stating the Igala is a fusion of people who migrated from Wukari in the current Taraba State who merged with a significant number of Yorubas and Edos they met around Idah in Kogi State. Since Igalas of Anambra and Northern Enugu States have a lot of Yoruba words in their language with very similar words such as Ifa for Ifa divination, Ogede for plantain, Oma for child, Omi for water, Akuko or cock, Egungun or spelled Egwugwu in Igala, Iba for fever in Yoruba and Igala, Osu spelled Ochu for month in Igala, Ose spelled Oche in Igala, Enu spelled Onu for mouth or something at the top and many more, etc, it's VERY obvious that historically the Igalas (who first introduced the red chieftaincy cap into the Nsukka area) ALSO linguistically influenced both Anambra, Enugu, and parts of Delta North with their Yoruboid language. This is a FACT because both Yorubas and Igalas are also indigenous to Kogi State and I read a history book [from a White American who is a former University of Nigeria, Nsukka lecturer before he returned to the U.S. in the 1970s] that as of over 300 years ago Yoruba and Igala hunters were in Nsukka this was long before any British colonial rule. The Yorubas and Igalas are cousins or ancestrally related but since it's a fusion of some other ethnic groups as well, it would be disrespectful and IMPROPER to call Igala people Yorubas because they have a lot of Yoruba words in their Yoruboid language. Other ethnicities make up Igala people as well this is why you find that retainment of pure Yoruba and Idoma words in Igala language.

Read Up More On the Etymology and History of the Yoruba Delicacy "Moyin Moyin"(Moin Moin) on Wikipedia BELOW.
=>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moin_moin

Infact if you check the older news publications of the 1970s and 1980s which I read back then and I still have some old but well-preserved 1970s and 1980s magazines in my archives, the REAL spellings used by Yoruba journalists in English language and Yoruba language newspapers and magazines such as DRUM was "moyin moyin" with the letter Y, but by the late 1990s right till now, I started seeing "moin moin" which Yoruba-Nigerian food YouTubers such as Sissie Yemmie and Sissie Jemimah rightly use, and then non-Yorubas started unintentionally removing letter N and WRONGLY spelling it as "moi moi" and the Ibos even did BADLY by corrupting the Yoruba word further to "mai mai" just like Elubo (yam, cassava or unripe plantain flour) is spelled WRONGLY by Ibos as "alibo" or Agbero is spelled WRONGLY as "agboro." Funnily Yoruba words such as Keke, Akara, etc, are accurately spelled by Ibos as LOAN WORDS. "Akara" means to "count [Aka] and buy [Ra]" in Yoruba is spelled exactly the same way by Ibos. It's the same with the popular word "BOLI" a pure Yoruba word for roasted or grilled plantain which the Port Harcourt folks corrupted to "bole" which they sold with their own style of "grilled fish" after the year 2000. I lived in PH from the 1990s while working in a major oil and gas company so I know the evolution of PH Boli and grilled fish started fully in the 2000s.

I strongly affirm that it's unkind for people from other ethnic groups to bastardize the spellings of others like the Yorubas then turn around to FALSELY claim to be the originators or owners of that word and it has to STOP. The Ibo name of the Yoruba word "Egunsi" (Egusi) is actually "Elili" and the corrupted "Egwusi" spelling may actually have found it's way into Ibo lexicon in the late 1800s (or after 1900 via the Anambra axis because of the indigenous Igala presence there) or through the works of the respected linguist and Anglican clergyman Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther who wrote the FIRST EVER Ibo language book and Ibo primer titled: "Isuama Ibo: A Primer" in the late 1800s, based on his earlier works in writing the Yoruba alphabet and Yoruba dictionary in 1843. It was he who came up with the Igala, Ibo, and Nupe alphabets based on his historic works in writing the Yoruba alphabet years earlier.

Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther ALSO wrote the FIRST major Ibo language book (while living as a missionary in Onitsha), Igala language book and Nupe language book using the same experience he ORIGINALLY used to write the Yoruba alphabet and other Yoruba books as of 1843.

CultureRe: Igbo-efik/ibibio Cultural/linguistic Similarities (photo) by Konquest:
Kponkwem:
Like what has been asserted severally that Igbo and Efik–Ibibio are historical cousins. Some accounts exist about the groups’ common practice of the Ekpe, Okonko cults and Nsibidi writing systems and several customary practices. They are also non-state, non-empire kingdom and communities, known to be generally democratic and republican in socio-political worldview.

While the Ibibio have an older established continuous occupation of their present location in eastern Nigeria, the Efik, who are believed to be offshoots of the Ibibio, can trace their origin from Ibom area of Arochukwu now Abia State. The progenitors moved to settle in Uruan now in Akwa Ibom, then crossed to Creek town. I will on another day, relate how the Efiks quickly grew more influential during the European trade from the 1500s than their Igbo and Ibibio cousins despite being the least in numbers and being late to emerge in the south east of Nigeria. However, the link is maintained till this day that you can't coronate the Obong of Calabar without kingmakers from Arochukwu and Uruan and other Northern Cross River members of the Efik-Eburutu.

For starters, this is not to suggest that there are no sources of conflicts among the Igbo and the Efik-Ibibio. For instance, the Igbo refer to the Efik-Ibibio as ‘Mmongo’ while they refer to the Igbo as ‘Uneghe’. None of these terms have been confirmed to have derogatory or endearing meaning. But generally the Igbo and Efik-Ibibio are fond of each other and share healthy competition in many areas of the life.
I think this clear geographical and historical relation is responsible for how the Akwa Ibomites always defend the Igbo interest doggedly in most issues in the past and in recent times. You recall how Philip Effiong stayed behind after Ojukwu’s departure to restore peace to a beleaguered Biafra. I saw the Ibibio responses during the reprisal riots in Aba on the Kaduna Sharia killings in the 2001 and how they replicated the riots almost immediately in Uyo. I saw their support for Jonathan up till today just like the Igbos and how Uyo joined in demonstrating for Nnamdi Kanu.

Today, many Efik-Ibibio now join or try to out-compete the Igbo in trade and commerce (especially spare parts, electronics, transport, estates, cloths) and other fields. There is a whole new paradigm by my Efik-Ibibio brothers, outside what the laidback Ijaw, Ikwerre etc haven’t learnt yet, that rather than demonise the Igboman and accusing him of blood money etc- in this modern era, it’s better to join him, learn from him and compete with him. Akwa Ibom is rich in oil but the people don’t rely on that especially now that the resource is waning internationally. It is the spirit driving Godswill Akpabio’s and Udom Emmanuel’s Akwa Ibom. In Udom’s voice ‘Akwa Abasi Ibom m’adakkada!’ the people now go to school, travel like Igbos and work very hard that you actually don’t see any difference with the Igbos.

A symbol of their commercial prowess is a wholly owned Efik-Ibibio settlement in Aba referred to as ‘Ama Mmongo.’ Though you have other non-indigenous settlements in Aba like ‘Ama Awusa’ and Opobo/Ijaw areas, but Ama-Mmong is da bomb-very lively and you have native Igbo speakers intermingle with the other groups. Thus like Port Harcourt, Aba is a very great centre of eastern unity and integration. I dare say that Aba industries thrive because of the patronage from these neighbouring states and there are now big time indigenous goods dealers in Ikot Ekpene, Uyo and Calabar, who learnt their trade from the Igbo towns of Aba, Onitsha and Nnewi. Akwa Iboms not only have the close proximity with Igbos-go to same market and farms, but are utilizing it.

In movies, many Ibibio film acts, sportsmen, musicians had their big breaks and made their way working among the Igbo in Lagos, Aba, Enugu or Asaba. Here in the North, from Kaduna to Kano, you see Ibibios where Igbos are many-who doesn’t want protection?

I have by these few words used generally among the Igbo (especially those from Aro, Ohafia, Abiriba etc.) and the Efik- Ibibio with same meaning, to show the centuries of mutual interaction among the groups. This will show how these three states, Abia/CRS and A/Ibom share so much in common, and are indeed cousins:

The post right ABOVE is largely famzing of Ibibios and Efiks and propaganda containing some historical inaccuracies. Most Ibibios (99%) of the Old Eastern Region were largely against being dragged into the illegal secession and declaration of war by Emeka Ojukwu on May 30, 1967 and the exactly 30 months Civil War of July 1967 to January 1970. So, the reference to Phillip Effiong staying back (after Emeka Ojukwu cowardly ran away via a plane from Uli to Cote D'Ivoire with his family and close lieutenants) is a very disrespectful and misleading example of the larger Ibibio resistance and resentment to the illegal succession movement which forcibly included their ancestral homelands WITHOUT any referendum.

NO doubt, a section of the Ibibio group along the border areas did have contact as with Ibos who were their slaves in what is now Arochukwu (which was ORIGINALLY an Ibibio settlement) and through trade, then through wars with the enslaved Ibo and their Akpa war allies from 1690 to 1720. The Aro-Ibibio Wars or conflicts with the "Obong Okon Ita clan" of the much larger Ibibios from the 1830s to 1902. BUT that's all there is to it and the Ibibios do NOT practice Ekpe as inferred above (like the Efiks do) BUT Ekpo is what the Ibibios have.

The Nsibidi is ORIGINALLY from among the Ejagbam (or Ekoi) people and found among the Efiks (who share Calabar with the Efuts and the Quas. So, Calabar is NOT ethnically monolithic BUT has the larger Quas and Efuts in addition to the Efiks).

The Ogonis had no dealings with any tribe except the Ibibios and it is known that they never married any except themselves and Ibibios.

The Arros never saw any inland port of the Ibibios not to talk of the Atlantic ocean, they had no dealings with the Europeans, they colonized Ibos and were only suppliers of IBO's slaves to the Ibibios middle men.

Arros are IBO's, Ibibios, Akpas, mixtures I can say an hybrid of IBOs, together with Abribas and Bende tribe that practices the Ibibios cultures but never dared control Ibibios,
Ogonis, etc but did colonized the ibos
Bump.

On the contrary, NOT all the slaves sold through the Southern Nigeria slave ports of Bonny Island, Calabar, Itu, Ikot Abasi (Opobo), etc, where from the interior Ibos who were largely captured and brought to the coast by the Aro slaves traders.

Based off of my advanced historical knowledge and readings (since the early 1980s right till date), the slave ship records from the archives that I have seen from the late 1780s to the early 1800s CLEARLY indicate that majority of the slaves brought by the Aros from the Ibo interior (and sold through the indigenous Ijaw middle men of Bonny Island to the American and European slave traders) were indeed Ibos with females constituting 80% of the Ibos (Eboes) sold at Bonny. BUT other ethnic or tribal groups existed as well among those sold. There were surprisingly to me even Hausa slaves sold at Bonny who were rescued with others on a slave ship in the 1800s and liberated in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Second, indeed I once read a Punch interview about 10 years ago where the Head of the Ogoni Traditional Council in Rivers State CLEARLY stated that the Ogoni ethnic group came into existence as a result of the ancestral mixture of Ibibios and migrant fishing people from Ghana. Even one of the prominent Ogoni politicians who was a Senator stated on his Website that the IJAWS are made up of migrant fishing/boat people from Ghana (and this explains the mystery about the odd culture of matriarchy practiced by Ijaws in a LARGELY patriarchal Nigeria, and the Ijaw language which is different from other nearby Nigerian languages in terms of structure) who clearly began to evolve prominently in relatively recent history in what is now modern Nigeria within the last 500 to 600 years NOT longer as FALSELY claimed on Ijaw supremacist or propaganda Websites.

So, the Ogoni king or traditional ruler referenced above was very BLUNT in the Punch interview which I appreciated him for when he further said Ogoni language contains many words which are similar to those used in Ghana thereby affirming the part Ibibio and part migrant Ghanaian ethnic origins of the entire Ogoni people and language. However, he did NOT say what ethnic groups in Ghana these migrants boat and fishing people from Ghana are. He didn't say if the are Ewes, Ga, Akans, etc.
