Today we went to water our herbs we planted, when it attacked, we offed it instead. Thank God we were able to see it in time.
We're suggesting it came in from the next plot that was cleared and burnt.
We detached the head, and sold the body for 15k.

Putindbutt: Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has responded candidly and powerfully to years of unsolicited and crude comments about her body.
Following a performance at the Root Picnic 2025, where she dazzled fans with her vocals and stage presence, Tems took to social media to address the ongoing scrutiny of her body—a conversation she says has dragged on for seven years.
Quoting a comment from an online troll, Tems made it clear that she’s had enough of people dissecting her physique, writing:
“Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up. I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird. ‘It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.’ Dog IT’S MINE.”
She continued, hitting back at those who reduce her artistry and presence to her physical form:
"Show us your bumbum’ lol so me too I will turn and say ‘see’, Nah show ME yours first?? See how that feels?
It’s just a body. I will add and lose weight. I never once hid my body, I just didn’t feel the need to prove or disprove anyone.”
Tems concluded by emphasizing her self-worth and autonomy, declaring that people’s discomfort or obsession with her body is not her problem:
“The more you don’t like my body the better for me actually. But it’s enough now. Move on from my bum.” She's one of the decent female singers of Nigerian descent out there. She's got some cool, mid-tempo songs and collaborations out there that I've randomly listened to. Newsgeek24: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday received the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, at his private residence in Lagos, News360 Nigeria reports.
Also present at the visit was business magnate Chief Adedeji Adeleke and globally recognised Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, better known as Davido.
Governor Adeleke confirmed the visit on his official X handle, writing:
"This evening, alongside the scion of the Adeleke dynasty, my big brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke, and my nephew, whom we are immensely proud of, David Adeleke, popularly known as @davido, we paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at his Lagos residence ahead of the Sallah celebration."
News360 Nigeria recalls that Davido, along with members of his team including Cubana Chief Priest, had earlier visited President Tinubu at Aso Rock days before this latest meeting.
The visit, coming ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election where Tinubu’s party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected to challenge Governor Adeleke, has stirred conversations in political circles.
Photos from the courtesy visit, first shared by Presidential aide Daddy D.O (@DOlusegun) on X, captured the President warmly receiving Davido, his father, and Governor Adeleke in what appeared to be a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. https://news360ng.com/gov-adeleke-davidos-dad-davido-visits-tinubu-in-lagos/ A game of chess in full effects. |

Mynd44: "We spent $100m trying to win. We finally accepted there was no market for paid services and exited Nigeria" Businessman, Jason Njoku speaks on iROKOtv shutdown ~~
"We closed in July 2019.
"Before the end of 2019, we had distributed $5 million as a special dividend and were primed to take on the world.
"Then COVID-19 happened. Streaming temporarily boomed in the West (our North American business tripled in subscriber growth), while Nigeria closed borders and grappled with peculiar economic principles (devaluations, FX windows, etc.).
"The local market in Nigeria simply collapsed. We saw it and stubbornly decided to keep investing and doubling down until we were all tapped out, having burnt through most of the post-exit capital.
"To save iROKOtv, we considered crowdfunding, an AIM LSE listing (you could raise $10-30 million easily back then) with relatively little revenue but a strong narrative.
"In the end, we raised $1.1 million in convertible notes, then recapped the company a year later and paid it back.
"In 2023, we finally accepted there was no market for paid premium services and exited Nigeria. We haven’t processed any Naira payments there in almost two years.
"As I humbly survey the wreckage of the last 15 years of streaming in Nigeria and Africa, it’s clear our (then $2k GDP per capita) was too small to support even a $5/mo product. It’s clear this wasn’t even a question of capital.
"Showmax alone continues to pour tens, if not hundreds, of millions to make it work. But the global giants tapped out last year; their costs (content and marketing) were clearly unsustainably high, and their product needed to be localised to make sense and actually work; it’s just not how platforms sustainably scale.
"So I wasn’t surprised when either Amazon or Netflix rolled back their considerable investments in Nigeria. $5/mo is a luxury I doubt even 250k can reliably afford in Nigeria.
"You can see the impact of what GOtv and DStv are suffering at the hands of the market. It’s okay that we tried and failed. It’s okay that we accept the limitations in the domestic market we find ourselves in. Did it need $1B+ to figure this out?
"Absolutely not. I believe, with my newfound knowledge, that iROKOtv could have reached the same conclusions with $5-10 million versus the $100 million+ we ended up investing.
"In hindsight, streaming wasn’t the winning model for Nollywood in Nigeria. Content, channels, and distribution were.
"With the economics that business had in 2018, we could have shut down iROKOtv and her $5 million/year in losses and either listed it or just had a fantastically profitable business.
"But I was a believer and walked away from millions of dollars in personal liquidity to put it all in to build streaming in Africa.
"My lessons were expensive, and that’s why I am so consistent in telling founders not to over-raise. ~~

madridguy: Yoruba Group Decries ‘Ethnic Harassment’ Of LASU Lecturer Over Facebook Marriage Post, Alleges South-East Domineering Agenda
A prominent Yoruba socio-cultural group, Igbimo Omo Yoruba, has raised alarm over what it described as a disturbing wave of ethnic intolerance and cyberbullying targeting Dr. Adeyinka Olarinmoye, a lecturer at Lagos State University (LASU), following her Facebook post expressing a preference for her children to marry within the Yoruba ethnic group.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its convener, Adedamola Adetayo, the group condemned the online attacks against Dr. Olarinmoye—popularly known as Iyalode Adeyinka Bello—accusing a “new generation of Ibo people” of orchestrating what it called a “coordinated campaign of ethnic harassment and media mobbing.”
The controversy began on Wednesday, May 21, when Dr. Olarinmoye reacted to Afrobeat singer Davido’s comments about his Igbo ancestry by writing on her Facebook page: "I would ensure my kids marry Yoruba."
While her supporters described the statement as innocuous, critics online swiftly accused her of ethnic bias.
According to Igbimo Omo Yoruba, the backlash intensified when her words were allegedly misrepresented as: "An Ibo man marrying my daughters cannot happen at all."
The group claimed this distortion fuelled an online smear campaign marked by insults, threats, and attempts to damage her professional reputation.
“These attacks are not only unjust but deeply calculated to emotionally and psychologically damage Dr. Olarinmoye,” Adetayo stated.
“We will rise to defend her rights and by extension, the rights of all Yoruba people to freely express themselves.”
The group further alleged that the smear campaign was politically motivated, linking it to Dr. Olarinmoye’s past criticism of the Obidient Movement and her support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
It claimed the attacks were orchestrated by individuals sympathetic to the Labour Party and its presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi.
Igbimo Omo Yoruba also made broader accusations, alleging an ongoing “Zionist agenda” by unnamed Igbo individuals to politically and culturally dominate Lagos and other parts of Yorubaland.
It warned that continued provocation would not be tolerated, promising a “swift and far-reaching” response if any harm came to Dr. Olarinmoye or other Yoruba citizens.
The group called on Yoruba state governments and traditional leaders to take proactive measures to protect their people from cyber harassment and what they described as “cultural encroachment.”
Dr. Olarinmoye, who has reported the matter to security agencies, has yet to make a public statement since the incident went viral.
Cyberbullying and the manipulation of online narratives remain major concerns in Nigeria’s digital space, especially as ethnic and political tensions continue to flare in the aftermath of recent national elections.Nigerian cultural tours
Under Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, cyberstalking and online harassment are criminal offences punishable under Nigerian law. https://saharareporters.com/2025/06/01/yoruba-group-decries-ethnic-harassment-lasu-lecturer-over-facebook-marriage-post-alleges This is a well-formed response. The paid ipob troll farms led by young Ibos located in Nigeria and different countries of Europe, Asia, and North America (who the "BBC Global Disinformation Team" investigative video of May 2022 EXPOSED for being responsible for spreading massive online defamation, hate speech and fueling ethnic unrests to destabilize and destroy Nigeria using FB, X, YouTube, blogs, and NL) are clearly responsible for this unnecessary aggression. It’s time for the DSS and NIA to move right in and disrupt the activities of these paid criminal young gangs of Ipob Trolls (including those using NL openly right from Page 1 of this thread) who where given free laptops, free mobile phones, free Internet data, and free stipends as revealed by the resilient "BBC Global Disinformation Team investigators who infiltrated ipob and interviewed former Ipob members. Nothing must happen to that woman and she will be defended fully from these creeps because she did no wrong. It's her prerogative to give her personal opinion. Period. |
Politics › Re: CNG To Reduce Railway Maintenance Cost By 70% - Opeifa by Konquest: 10:07am On Jun 03, 2025 |
Musty112: After all the campaign for CNG, people bought CNG keke, but it is seldom available in the only working CNG station in kwara More CNG infrastructure is needed in Kwara, I assume you're in Ilorin. I read that more stations will be rolled out soon in all the 6 geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
The CNG infrastructure in Lagos State from NNPC, NIPCO, etc, has been serving the needs of users from the users of dual full-on haulage trucks, commercial buses and taxis, tricycles, and private car owners with the reduction in visits to the mechanics garage and lower vehicle maintenance. This is serving Ogun State car owners and residents as well because of how close Ogun and Lagos States are to one another. The problem is that those greedy transport vehicle owners in Lagos and Abuja for instance who have benefited from the highly subsidized CNG conversion program have made a lot of money and profits by charging the normal transport fares that PMS-only vehicles charge without reducing their own transportation costs for the consumers since they use CNG vehicles. It very clear that a lot of Nigerians are very greedy, exploit one another in the markets, pharmacies, etc, and do NOT want costs to come down. Governments at all local levels must ensure that these people lower haulage or transportation costs and monitor the artificially high food prices. Sanctions must be imposed on people right from the State levels to stop hoarders and transport owners from exploiting the people on the street level. Period. |
Politics › Re: CNG To Reduce Railway Maintenance Cost By 70% - Opeifa by Konquest: 9:48am On Jun 03, 2025 |
Putindbutt: The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, has said that Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is crucial for the railway industry in Nigeria, offering several benefits, including a reduction in maintenance costs by up to 60–70 percent.
He disclosed this over the weekend during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the NRC and the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG) Initiative.
The NRC MD explained that the collaboration would focus on a diesel retrofit programme, distribution of strategic Pi-CNG materials and equipment, intermodal shuttle service, retrofit training for various types of diesel engines, and the handover of buses and coaches—making the collaboration a cost-effective option.
He added that the environmental benefits of CNG are not limited to being a cleaner fuel with fewer greenhouse gas emissions and pollutants, but also include promoting and contributing to a more sustainable environment and improved air quality.
Opeifa stated that CNG would ensure energy security and stimulate economic growth by creating jobs and attracting investments in infrastructure and technology.
According to the NRC MD, *“Today, we take another critical step towards a sustainable future for our railway industry. This partnership between NRC and Pi-CNG marks a significant step towards a cleaner, more efficient rail transportation system in Nigeria.
“The rail sub-sector (the safest, most cost-effective means of transporting goods and passengers and with the least carbon footprint) has long relied on traditional fuels, but it is time for us to explore alternative options that benefit both our operations and the environment.
“Today, we strive to further reduce our carbon footprint by converting our locomotives and other diesel-powered equipment to CNG.”
Opeifa also noted that the NRC training centre at Tejuosho would be turned into a CNG conversion centre, adding that CNG conversion would be incorporated into the centre’s curriculum.
On his part, the Programme Director of Pi-CNG, Mr. Michael Oluwagbemi, said the cooperation with NRC would allow them to leverage NRC’s expertise in diesel engineering technology that powers their Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) systems.
Oluwagbemi added that the NRC had the most advanced experience that could help transform the haulage sector as Pi-CNG moves more trucks to CNG across the nation.
“This will not only reduce the cost of transporting goods and services across our country, including food and energy, but also enhance security and mass transportation. We will also rely on the NRC as we expand our platforms nationwide. https://tribuneonlineng.com/cng-to-reduce-railway-maintenance-cost-by-70-opeifa/ Impressive takes. This CNG conversion project should have started since 2023 or 2024 for the NRC trains (and even the water transportation) to lower costs as well. There's a sense of urgency over there in Nigeria as the artificial high costs of food, medication, and transportation, etc, are the factors triggering some Nigerians to get angry and it gives these fifth columnists from the so-called opposition coalition gang and these irresponsible paid Ipob troll farms the opportunity to continue to spread disinformation and hate speech. As soon as food, transportation and medication costs, etc, drop rapidly due to the massive use of the cheapest fuel source (CNG), these fifth columnists and paid ipob trolls will have NO choice but to shut up and Nigerians on the street level will be relieved again to have MORE disposable funds in their pockets. This is what I suggested even before that finally subsidy was removed in 2023. It was very obvious that Dangote’s Petrochemical Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki wasn't going to make transportation (and food costs) cheaper because it's an international commodity based on variable exchange rate costings. Glad to see the brilliant academic, Kayode Opeifa in that NRC position based off of the innovative ideas he introduced in Lagos State's transportation sector. |
Politics › Re: Before Tinubu, Nigeria Was Spending Monthly $1.5bn To Subsidise Naira – Reno by Konquest: 9:03am On Jun 03, 2025 |
TimeManager: A former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has claimed that before President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, Nigeria was spending a staggering $1.5 billion every month to subsidise the naira—money he says was borrowed and “wastefully spent.
” Speaking on Inside Sources, a current affairs programme on Channels Television aired on Sunday, Omokri explained that the funds used to artificially prop up the naira were not invested in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, or infrastructure.
“The Federal Government of Nigeria was spending $1.5 billion every month to subsidise the naira. Please assume I’m a liar and go and fact-check me—$1.5 billion every month subsidising the naira. And this was not money that we had. This was money that we were borrowing.
“We weren’t spending $1.5 billion every month on healthcare, on education, on roads. We were spending it subsidising the naira,” he said.
According to him, the subsidy was fuelling unsustainable consumption patterns, including luxury imports. “We were spending $200 million annually on importing human hair for our women to wear. We were spending $75 million on French champagne and £25 million on Scotch whisky,” Omokri stated.
Naira Devaluation
Defending President Tinubu’s decision to float the naira, Omokri said the current exchange rate, where the naira trades at over ₦1,500 to the dollar, reflects its true value without government interference.
“The reason why the naira is now ₦1,560 to the dollar is not because President Bola Tinubu is a terrible president. No. It’s because he started floating the naira and stopped subsidising it,” he said.
He added that under previous administrations, including that of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and when he served under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, the naira was not valued at its real worth.
“I was presidential spokesman when the naira was ₦165 to a dollar. Then, the naira was being subsidised. What you were seeing as a Nigerian wasn’t the actual value,” Omokri said.
Omokri further praised Tinubu’s fiscal and trade reforms, noting that they have led to positive outcomes, including a reduction in national debt and the creation of a trade surplus.
“President Tinubu met a debt profile of $108 billion. Right now, our debt is $94 billion. It has reduced by $14 billion. So there is no way you can call such a person someone who’s addicted to debt. With all due respect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has exceeded the expectations of most reasonable Nigerians,” he stated.
“He’s increased our trade surplus. In fact, we didn’t even have a trade surplus before. This man came in, Nigeria was the number one petrol importer in Africa.
Right now, we are not. South Africa has now overtaken us. We are now instead the number one petrol exporter in West Africa,” he said.
Hardship Still In The Land
Nigeria Not Rich’ Asked whether the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms have exacerbated hardship among ordinary Nigerians, Omokri acknowledged the suffering but insisted it is a necessary sacrifice for long-term stability.
“There is still a lot of suffering in the land. Nigeria is not a rich country. So if you have a father who is not rich and you are suffering, you can’t be complaining and saying, ‘Well, I’m suffering.’ No. Your father is not rich.
Nigeria is an oil-poor country,” he said. He added that the president’s decision to float the naira has begun yielding structural benefits for the local economy.
https://www.channelstv.com/2025/06/01/before-tinubu-nigeria-was-spending-monthly-1-5bn-to-subsidise-naira-reno-omokri/ Impressive takes from Reno. Reno simply uses FACTS and clear statistics to create graphic images in the mind's eyes devoid of propaganda like the ones from highly uninformed paid trolls and others. Reconfiguring a several decades-long battered economy is a brick-by-brick scenario in any country of the world and the initial economic pains were clearly expected. These are historical economic facts BUT from here on out, a fuller deployment of the cheaper CNG and CNG infrastructure to nearly all parts of Nigeria would further crash the cost of transportation and goods and the State Governors and their Agriculture Commissioners must begin to do what Lagos State is doing to lower the cost of food items to 50% of the current costs with the construction of the biggest ever Central Agriculture Hub in Africa at Epe to reduce farm gate wastages and improve logistics supplies as well. A 25% reduction in food costs has already been achieved through the very modern mini Agric Hubs such as the one in Mushin. Kudos to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Ms. Olusola on the impending Epe Agric Central Hub commissioning. |

carule: 8. Reduced Risk for Diabetes Drink up: A 2011 Harvard study of about 38,000 middle-aged men found that when those who only drank occasionally raised their alcohol intake to one to two beers or other drinks daily, their risk of developing type 2 diabetes dropped by 25 percent. The researchers found no benefit to quaffing more than two drinks. The researchers found that alcohol increases insulin sensitivity, thus helping protect against diabetes.
9. Lower Blood Pressure Wine is fine for your heart, but beer may be even better: A Harvard study of 70,000 women ages 25 to 40 found that moderate beer drinkers were less likely to develop high blood pressure—a major risk factor for heart attack—than women who sipped wine or spirits.
10. Longer Life In a 2005 review of 50 studies, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported that moderate drinkers live longer. The USDA also estimates that moderate drinking prevents about 26,000 deaths a year, due to lower rates of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
These benefits appear to apply in other countries as well, with an earlier study reporting that, “if European beer drinkers stopped imbibing, there would be a decrease in life expectancy of two years—and much unhappiness.” http://health.yahoo.net/experts/dayinhealth/10-surprising-health-benefits-beer Bump. WizardOfNG: God bless you for the bolded. It is in fact what keeps me here and posting.
Progressive folks need to balance out the narrative rather than let it be controlled completely by those who are hateful, bigoted, envious, tribalistic, vendetta-driven, religiously intolerant, covetous, imperialistic, unprogressive, backwards etc, etc. Absolutely well said.
I appreciate your succinct insights and posts here as well.
The Super Mods too still have to individually remove and ban these insidious paid ipob trolls farms from derailing informative NL threads because the user experience here will continue to be defeated despite the new AI measures and block feature the guy who owns this discussion forum put in place since early May 2025. I shared the "BBC Global Disinformation Team" investigative video of 2022 with him on his NL thread to show where the real problem of toxicity on NL is coming from, and I expected him and his team of Super Mods to have taken STRONGER measures against these tribalistic, paid ipob trolls and insidious monikers by now. We have to be relentless in ensuring that sanity is restored here otherwise sane folks like myself will leave (after 20 years of using this discussion forum as a veteran member). Period. |
Politics › Re: Nigeria’s Crude Export To US Hit Highest Level In 6 Years by Konquest: 2:50pm On Jun 02, 2025*. Modified: 3:12pm On Jun 02, 2025 |
Islie: The Energy Information Administration (IEA) has reported that US crude and fuel inventories all fell last week, while crude imports from Nigeria hit their highest level in nearly six years.
Crude imports from Nigeria rose by 358,000 bpd to 364,000 bpd, marking the highest import figure from the African nation since October 2019.
The jump in imports comes as Nigeria’s 650,000 bpd Dangote refinery has faced an unplanned outage from April 7 to May 11, the Agency said on Thursday.
Crude inventories fell by 2.8 million barrels to 440.4 million barrels in the week ending May 23, the EIA said, compared with analysts’ expectations in a Reuters poll for a 118,000-barrel rise.
U.S. crude exports rose during the week by 794,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 4.3 million bpd, helping push inventories lower.
“I found it a supportive report, with higher US.. crude exports resulting in a crude draw,” said Giovanni Staunovo, an analyst at UBS.
“Pumping stations demanding more gasoline and diesel last week ahead of Memorial Day resulted in higher implied demand and draws for gasoline and distillates,” he added, referring to a U.S. holiday this week.
Oil prices rose slightly after the EIA reported a surprise draw in stockpiles, but were still trading in negative territory. Global Brent crude futures were off 56 cents to $64.34 a barrel at 12:11 p.m. EDT (1611 GMT), while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures were down 65 cents to $61.20 a barrel . Crude stocks at the Cushing, Oklahoma, delivery hub rose by 75,000 barrels, the EIA said.
U.S. refinery crude runs fell by 162,000 barrels per day in the week, while utilisation rates fell by 0.5 percentage points in the week to 90.2%, the EIA said. U.S. gasoline stocks fell by 2.4 million barrels in the week to 223.1 million barrels, the EIA said, compared with analysts’ expectations for a 527,000-barrel draw.
Gasoline supplied, a proxy for demand, rose last week to 9.45 million bpd, up from 8.64 million bpd the prior week.Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, fell by 724,000 barrels in the week to 103.4 million barrels, versus expectations for a 481,000-barrel rise, the EIA data showed.
U.S. distillate fuel oil stocks fell to their lowest last week since April 2005, while inventories in the U.S. Midwest were at their lowest since November 2017.
Net U.S. crude imports fell last week by 532,000 bpd to 2.05 million bpd, EIA said. https://leadership.ng/nigerias-crude-export-to-us-hit-highest-level-in-6-years/ Nigeria is more of a gas-rich country with even more bituminous reserves within the vast bitumen belt extending from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Edo States with Canada having the largest reserves worldwide) than the diminishing crude oil reserves. It's impressive though that crude oil production has increased within the two-year Presidency of 'Bola Tinubu who is an oil and gas technocrat himself with a background as a Chartered Accountant and Auditor with Mobil Nigeria [now ExxonMobil], rising to the senior rank of a treasurer with the same multinational oil company. It's important to focus more on the gas and bitumen reserves for local use through value addition and exports and that's where the sustainable, long-term economic benefits will come from. |

WizardOfNG: You people keep citing examples that mock the Nigerian education system. Duplex building and foundation tranches excavation? Guy, are you for real?
This is a huge project to be completed in sections with each section commissioned, upon completion, and then put to use immediately while work continues on other sections.
This is no different to the Lagos metro rail project where completed routes are commissioned with Lagosians then free to use those for their travels daily while work continues to add more stations and routes.
How is this simple concept lost on you to the extent you are talking Duplex and foundation? Is the Lagos blue line not commissioned and being used today even if it currently terminates at Marina?
Yet, and crucially, we know the blue line will move beyond Marina and end circa the Epe corridor of Lagos and possibly even beyond that point as an extension fo Ogun State rail connection under the regional integration master plan of SW Nigeria?
Even Lagos Calabar coastal highway is itself an idea with an expanded West African focus. I.e modular construction and with much greater interconnectivity capacity with great possibilities for pan African trade and cooperation like optimally transport-linked EU enjoys.
It is a visionary project conceived long ago and progressive Nigerians thank Tinubu for having the vision and focus to revive it and move aggressively to build and complete it.
Commissioning of completed sections about to be put in use is a development no progressive, objective and well-meaning Nigerian should have issues with. Nicely put. There are lots of paid ipob troll farms spreading disinformation and toxic hate to destabilize Nigeria as revealed by the "BBC Global Disinformation Team" investigative video of May 2022, including illiterates (and semi-literates) posting on multiple online platforms and right here (with their irresponsible confirmation biases) inspite of the FACT that NL has well-educated posters. It's just a mirror of the real world. From time to time, it's good for those who have the FACTS to step right in, correct these trolls and prevent them from further spreading disinformation in order to engage in mass mind control which is their objective. |

Image123: Who be this? NEFGAD ko, na nefarious. For context of the ignorant, the Lagos Calabar coastal highway is arguably Nigeria's biggest infrastructure project ever. It is 6 lanes highway with provision for railroad in future.
Lagos ibadan expressway is 127km.
Third Mainland bridge is 12km.
Niger bridge or Onitsha bridge is 1.5km.
2nd Niger bridge is 1.6km/12km.
Your favorites avoided building it and used it as campaign promises for over a decade.
Your governors commission 1km roads and fly overs once in 4 years. But you have a problem with commission of completed 30km. You hypocrites deserve hell. Succinctly stated. |

adenigga: The recent move by the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, to present a 30-kilometre segment of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as a completed and commission-worthy project has drawn sharp criticism from the Network for the Actualisation of Social Growth and Viable Development, NEFGAD, a leading public procurement advocacy group in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by its country head of office, Mr Akingunola Omoniyi, NEFGAD noted with deep concern that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is a 750-kilometre unbroken contract meant to serve as a transformative infrastructure corridor across Nigeria’s coastal region.
According to NEFGAD, to commission just 30 kilometres—barely 4 per cent of the total project length—while the rest remains under construction is premature and misleading.
“We caution against the politicization of infrastructure delivery and stress that project commissioning should reflect substantive completion and usability of the project in its entirety or at least a major functional section.
“Presenting a fraction as the whole not only misrepresents the scope of work but risks undermining public trust in government communication and performance metrics.
“The minister must be mindful of the kind of precedent this action sets. If left unchecked, this could normalize the commissioning of uncompleted or partially completed projects across the country—turning what should be moments of national progress into mere photo opportunities and political theater,” parts of the statement read.
NEFGAD stressed that President Bola Tinubu should not be put under undue pressure of commissioning unfinished projects, maintaining that government is a continuum; hence, the minister, Umahi, should know that it is not possible for an administration to finish the business of government to the extent of thinking that all projects initiated must be completed during a tenure.
“President Tinubu himself met projects initiated by previous administrations, completed and inaugurated them,” the group observed.
NEFGAD called on the President to demand transparency and accountability in project delivery.
“The people deserve full value for every public infrastructure initiative—not staged ceremonies that paper over incomplete work.
“We urge the Ministry of Works to recommit to credible milestones, uphold project integrity, and ensure that future commissionings are tied to real, completed achievements—not fragments dressed up as finished products,” the statement added. Source: https://dailypost.ng/Lagos-Calabar-coastal-Highway-unfinished-unfit-for-commissioning-NEFGAD There's absolutely NOTHING wrong in commissioning long-distance roads (such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway) in sections or segments. The Lagos State end of the construction and that of other States within the route can be commissioned in segments within the 8 years total construction target of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. This is a major highway that has been in planning stage right from the former President Shehu Shagari years and the man who is the current President of Nigeria with his team led by Dave Umahi have kicked off the construction after many years of stalling by past Federal Governments. The construction of long-distance roads or expressways can also be done in segments by different construction companies in order to fast-track or speed up the project delivery. This makes for BETTER efficiency. Period. |
