PoliticsRe: Maku's Good Governance Tour Is A SCAM ~ ACN by koruji(m): 5:49pm On Feb 21, 2013
Maku by requesting funds from the states already discredited the good governance tour.
It smells of how Ministers would come to visit institutions under their supervision and will expect "their envelope" to be waiting.
It is a sham.
Please also come here and tell us how this tour is contributing to Nigeria's development.
It is a silly exercise by a useless ministry - there is no need for a ministry of information.

Maduale: These ACN goons are just so funny grin. Yesterday, Adams Oshiomhole came out to condemn Maku's Good Governance Tour.
Today again, their spokesman followed suit. Aren't this a strategy to discredit the ongoing good governance tour which has really showcased projects executed by both state and local government in over 12 states so far?
I don't know why anyone will be afraid of a move by ministry of information to perform its primary role of providing adequate information to the people on issues of Good Governance.
If you say you are not hosting for the delegation, no problem. Allow the FG continue their exercise. They have sufficient funds to bankroll it.

This latest call by Lai Mohammed for the tour to end flies off in the face of Reason.

How gullible can you be, or you are just a being "knowingly misled".
Did Fashola even know about this visit talkless of paying for it?

alexlee50: Fashola misplaced his priorities on this one.of what benefit is the kardashian visit to the people of lagos state?what economic benefits would be derived from this visit?I think these are the factors the governor should have considered before spending the state resources.the money could have been better put by the amuwo odofin local govt into the repair of the roads in festac and satelite town.

This is why paying them off is a waste of money, and actually much of this N384 billion will end up in the pockets of GEJ & his people.
These same people will be back on the job with the new PHCN after they collect whatever gets to them from these funds.
It is a simple as that - they are going nowhere.

berem: ....as if we have not always been in darkness! mtscheeew!

I can see the reason Nepa officials came to do a farewell disconnection in my neighborhood after disappearing for a long time.

After Jonathan pays them off, they should get lost and new set of people employed. We wont have old corrupt hands in the system again.

There is nothing we won't see out of this PDP.
The other day Omisore and the 40 laptops were claiming Aregbesola's dualization of the Osogbo-Ilorin road for PDP/GEJ.
I guess Maku doesn't really have projects from which to pilfer like othe Ministries, so he has come up with a creative solution.
The "Good Governance Tour" is actually the "The Great Pilfering Tour".

You arrogance is silly.

There are two ways to address what I wrote:
1. You ask for more explanation if you didn't understand it.
2. You tell me how I could be wrong if you think you know better.

Your implied assumption that you know more about this than myself, may be true or not, shows a level of arrogance that is characteristic of your likes here on NL.
This is a faceless forum, and you shouldn't make assumptions about who may or may not be on the other end of the post.
For all we know GEJ himself may have an account and be posting replies here on NL - though I would consider that unlikely.

So, shove your arrogance where the sun don't shine and state your points if you have any!

taharqa: I ALWAYS advice people that they shld plz keep SHUT once they dont know what they are talking about. Giving same advice here too.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Approves N384bn Severance Package For PHCN Workers by koruji(m): 4:23pm On Feb 21, 2013
Nobody is dying rather than give GEJ commendation - when he deserves it he will get it.
GEJ is the one who took people's support, got in the chair in Aso Rock and became a wolf-in-sheep-clothing.
Commendations for him will come very stringently, based on actual on-ground performance.
This is because of repeated lies and innuendo his administration is fast becoming known for.

You talk about NEPA being complicated to privatize.
Compared with NITEL that is not true, electricity is actually less fungible than communication.
GEJ needs to learn the lessons of NITEL in order to be successful with NEPA they are similar kettle of fish.

I repeat it again GEJ is making moves, but he hasn't succeeded yet.
I hope he succeeds, unlike GEJ and his cohorts like you who take petty quarrels personally.
But you guys need to stop jumping ahead because of signed agreements and approvals
These do not light up a room or operate machinery.

Sincere 9gerian: We know haters would rather DIE than commend GEJ for anything. I'm not surprised you'r comparing the selling of GSM licences to MTN and Econet, and later Glo to the ongoing privatisation of a complex, complicated and amorphous institution like PHCN. Even a primary school pupil can supervise the selling of licences to privately owned companies. The privatisation of NITEL that OBJ attempted, how did it end?

Have you considered the intricacies and complexity in privatising at once the 11 PHCN distribution companies, several generation companies and settling the entitlements of 50,000 workers?

Since the law backing this reform was passed as far back as 2004, why didn't OBJ use between 2004 to 2007 to do the right things?

PoliticsRe: Jonathan Approves N384bn Severance Package For PHCN Workers by koruji(m): 5:21am On Feb 21, 2013
You guys need to cut the backslapping crap.

Privatizing these moribund bodies has been a long-standing affair that started in the days of IBB.
OBJ accomplished the most successful privatization of the communications sector by opening up wireless service.
OBJ tried and failed with NITEL, but the plans for PHCN was started back then too - most of the plants being readied for commission now were started then.
In fact, Yar'adua/GEJ slowed down progress in this area unnecessaryily

Before you jump up and down, it would be a good thing for GEJ to accomplish this.
However, the operative word is "ACCOMPLISH".
All these payments and re-arrangements are not the real accomplishments.
What Nigerians want to see with these reforms is "RAPID IMPROVEMENT OF POWER SUPPLY".
GEJ is making moves in that area, but it is not yet there.
Even the 4GW of capacity is not reaching the public consistently.
You guys will come here to proclaim periods when power supply reaches 4GW.
But we will not hear anything from you about the sharp decline in supply over the last few weeks, for example!!!

One more note - in a country where the focus is not on pilfering resources there is really no need to be paying off workers with this huge amount of money.
Given what I have seen so far under this administration - we will be talking about someone who made off with N50 billion of this money in 6 months time.
AND GEJ would not give a damn!!!

You need to explain who stole billions of dollars - I am sure you will find them in GEJ's company too!!!

Onlytruth: My brother, you have spoken the CONCRETE TRUTH.
All past federal government leaders (especially the military ones) avoided "NEPA" like a curse. They couldn't touch it, though they could manage to steal billions of dollars.
I have always suspected that this is the real reason Nigeria is in darkness.
Now imagine 50,000 leeches sucking us dry for YEARS on.

If Jonathan pulls of this quiet revolution, his name will be written in BOLD GOLD. cool
Sincere 9gerian: The reforms done so far in PHCN is earth shaking, unprecedented and history making. No wonder we'v been in darkness all this while. The process has been tedious and financial cost collosal. Only a focused and firm govt with enormous political will can see this process thru without hitches.

GEJ is about to make history. I urge him to remain steadfast and keep his eye on the ball. The current reforms in PHCN, particularly privatisation, will be the greatest singular positive development in this country in decades

Your ignorance abounds.
Even more so given that the information on basis for this project is public.

toothpaste: Akpabio said it all a few years ago. Why spend billions (private or public) to reclaim land when there is vast virgin land around the premise of Lagos and other SW states? Like the Tsunami, Surge, and sinking palm development never teach people anything.

PoliticsRe: GEJ & Clinton To Attend Eko Atlantic Opening Tommorow ,Expect Road Closures. by koruji(m): 4:44am On Feb 21, 2013
It is not at every event that Clinton collects money.
He has a global foundation designed to give back and most of his activities happen under that banner.
Even if he is getting paid to come it is probably not by the Lagos state government.
Stop jumping ahead of information that you do not have.

payless: Well, I know more about American politician and politics than you do because I live there. I am not his accountant but there is something called public record in the U.S. All these information are available if you want them. If your brain works properly, google would have come to your mind id!ot. Just today alone Hillary Clinton announced to the public in the U.S that she would be taking $200,000 as speaking fee or for public appearances. Politicians in the U.S are not the same as what you have in Nigeria. I like Bill Clinton myself but he should not be taking money from Africans anytime he comes there to lend his voice. Four years ago he was invited to Nigeria by Obiagbena of Thisday Newspaper at the cost of $2,000,000. He went to speak on behalf of Angola President few years ago in the amount of $2,000,000. The list goes on. How do you think he makes his money since he left Presidency? If you don't know, Bill Clinton is worth $79 ,illion dollars. How do you think he got that?

Do you think he is coming to Nigeria for free?

Always looking for solace, are you?
Nobody is going to call him retardeen and spoil Lagos' great day.
There is a day for everything - if GEJ wants to hear it let him ride by UNILAG.
He is coming to benefit from something he and you, with you sadistic and thieving ways, would rather see collapse.
Despite all your efforts, you will be invited to behold success.
As Yorubas pray "May God not kill my enemy so he can live to see my abiding success."

talktimi: I can't wait to see if these nairaland gangstas will actually have the balls to call GEJ a "retardeen" tomorrow. Its quite easy for cowards to sit behind a computer screen to spew s#it, presido dey come our backyard tomorrow so make una prepare.. grin

You have being drinking herbs you were told to bath in - that is the only explanation to explain a brain coming up with the below.

Even your GEJ who is doing his level best to slow Lagos down by attempting to stop the next tranche of funding already being disbursed to Lagos will be beaming with smiles tomorrow; grateful to rub shoulders with Clinton and be "associated" with such a lofty project.

tomakint: ..another 'jeun soke' project in the domain of TINUBU himself, one wonders when Lagos will be changed to TINUBU State. Anywhere you go,you must see his thumbprint, little wonder Lagos is moving at that pace despite the staggering amount Lagos is generating every month! Lagosians are in for a real sweat time!

Even the article shows that the Lagos state government had nothing to do with the Kim affair (no pun intended).
But they had to titled it like illiterates to get people to read it, not minding how they could tarnish someone's image.
SMH.

modicum: Following a disturbing news that l read in some threads on Facebook this morning that Fashola brought in one Kim Kardashian( hope l got the spelling right) into Lagos for a whooping $500,000, l called the Governor to register my anger and he retorted:" Kim what? Who is he?" I said it's a HE but a SHE. He said he was hearing such name fir the first time. Asking "what time did she come and for which event? Of what value would such a person add to my government that l would bring her down with such amount of money? Am hearing this for the first time. My government has absolutely nothing to do with her". PoliticsRe: 2015 - Our Best 11? by koruji(m): 2:12am On Feb 20, 2013
You must be thinking backwards.
Fall flat?
The only thing that is flat is GEJ's competence
You need to stop thinking with your pocket!!!

Maxymilliano: The only candidate that stand the chance of dislodging PDP from the center is Buhari, EVERY other candidates are just paper weight with marginal electoral value to create upsets.

Going by the latest happenings in the rank of the APC, where some elements are against Buhari candidacy, probably due to age, I see no hope of the party taking over now, at least not in 2015.

Election in Nigeria is largely swayed along sentiment line, and not party line, the outcome of Ondo State election is still fresh in our minds despite Tinubu antics to whip up hatred against Mimiko, and even using Fashola as the poster boy of what ACN administration can do for the State.

I don't see how most of the names bandied around can spring any surprise come 2015.
Buhari and Okorocha ticket should do the magic if Tinubu can work on broad spectrum of ACN supporters in the SW to change the impression on the person of Buhari, Okorocha will try complement from the SE while Buhari will churn out the deciding vote from the North.

Fashola, Oshiomole, El-Rufai, Ribadu, and Okorocha will fall flat against GEJ, the most likely PDP candidate in 2015.

And while the permutation continues, opposition parties should better start mobilizing at grass root levels now, despite PDP leaking umbrella, the party has strong tentacles across the polity far more than any other party in Nigeria.

What does that prove?
What impact does or should this have on governance?
How does that increase or reduce the measure of the man?
And what's more, some of the implications of those names have been acknowledged, if only by claiming that people only think so, by no less than GEJ himself.
Call me a hundred names, and I will return to you with a thousand names.
But I will not go cut your region off from policy or politics, especially given that millions voted for me.

Here we go with your Xteristic jumping around.
You were the one who claimed Nigeria is pretty stable now.
And I pointed out the equivalent of your argument to you to show that yours is an invalid statement.
If Nigeria was not stable during the war in the east, it cannot be stable with ongoing bombings and threats of a terrorist take over in the north.
Nigeria cannot be stable when a president is afraid to hold an independence day parade because of fear of bombs!

Onlytruth: The statement even convicts you more.
How many names did you create for Yakubu Gowon during the years of the civil war, when millions of kids where starving to death?
I used the civil war because it was BY FAR the most egregious and dire situation ever faced by Nigeria. But guess what, you were busy partying in Lagos and singing Gowons praises to high heavens, while Awolowo diverted Eastern wealth into your pockets.
Umu anuofiagasi. cheesy
PoliticsRe: APC: SW And North Ganging Up Against SS? by koruji(m): 4:01am On Feb 19, 2013
And so?
When you deal with people whose daily utterance is filled with deceit.
Then you have no choice than to treat them to high-level deceit.
Every time GEJ opens his mouth it is full of deceit, especially where the SW is concerned.
But he does it with everything, no matter how sacred.

pazienza: They are masters of deceit,it had worked for them a lot in the past, but not this time around. You can't keep playing the same tactics all the time, and expect people not to notice and counter it, mbanu! *grins*

Onlytruth: No it is NOT the nature of poltics.
BTW are you willing to take up the challenge to list the names created for Jonathan, and compare them with those created for Obasanjo, Yar adua, Shagari; let me not bring military leaders because I know that none of you could raise a voice (even online) to insult them. Fear no gree you. cheesy
So, you wanna play the game?
PoliticsRe: APC: SW And North Ganging Up Against SS? by koruji(m): 3:55am On Feb 19, 2013
All you need to do is search nairaland archives if you and GEJ are so broken up about being called names.
That you are willing to engage in game of figuring out what different names different leaders get called is even suggestive of your joblessness.
GEJ needs to grow up and seize the chance to be a great Nigerian president.
Instead of the sulking arm-chair-in-chief you his praise-singers make him out to be.
Even our beloved Awolowo was called names by opposing factions in Yorubaland.
So who is GEJ not to expect a tongue-lashing for how he is treating the SW.
You will have to jump in the river or resign the presidency or do the right thing to avoid that.
It is called politics, and how they react and act distinguish great leaders from mere pretenders.
Like I use to say to that cursed Beaf - someone calls you names, you call him names back
Then you meet up and do the duties of state with integrity and lack of sentiment.

Onlytruth: Let's play a game.
List all the names you created and foisted on Yar adua, Abacha and IBB, and I will list the names you created for Jonathan.

I invite all forumites to add to known names created for each president.
Deal?
PoliticsRe: APC: SW And North Ganging Up Against SS? by koruji(m): 3:46am On Feb 19, 2013
Go find out how many names Obama gets called daily even by those he would consider allies.
It is the nature of politics.
The real problem is when people like you and GEJ actually take such name calling into the corridors of policy making.
So am I to understand that GEJ is sitting in Aso Rock sulking over name calling on nairaland?
And making decisions on how to run Nigeria based on which section of the country the name calling might or might not be coming from?
That he is a devotee of pettiness?
So, a few people calling GEJ names on nairaland is good enough reason for him to generalize to everyone from a region?
Because that is what you are telling me here.

You don't mind contradicting yourself - do you?
How is Nigeria a stable country when it is going through one of the worst security situations in its history?
This would be like someone suggesting that Nigeria was pretty stable during the civil war despite a disastrous war going on in the east!!!

Onlytruth: The other thing worth stating is that I would like the Eastern minorities to now see how Yoruba see a minority president.
It is on record that Yoruba posters and bloggers have created and foisted the most abusive, derisive, and insulting names on Jonathan than any other Nigerian president in history. The irony of the whole thing is that Jonathan has BY FAR performed better than Yar adua, Obasanjo, and Shagari. Nigeria is a relatively stable country, even recording economic growth in the midst of some of the worst security situation in Nigeria's history. So, methinks that no matter what he does, he would never be accepted or respected by those who see Nigeria as their play ground and inheritance; those who believe that only they are qualified to rule Nigeria.

Well, we shall see how all these end.
PoliticsRe: APC: SW And North Ganging Up Against SS? by koruji(m): 3:34am On Feb 19, 2013
Now you want the SS to lead?
Just the other day someone told us Igbos have taken over Nigeria.
Surely the SS must be feeling beseiged by its friend the SE.
Surprise, surprise you don't want to shout "Igbo" to everything
Until it is clear where you can get the most loot for the conspiracy.
Let the SS, like mumu, do all the dirty work then you guys can jump in "tadaa"!
Imagine how you refer to GEJ as "their son".

Onlytruth: My brother the dance will reach a crescendo when the APC presents its presidential candidate. Only after that would it become clear to Igbo what the APC is really all about. After that, we shall make our own move.

@Topic

OP are you from SS? If yes, cool then. If not, I wonder where SS posters are in this forum. I'm beginning to feel that they are not as enthusiastic at defending Jonathan as some of us Igbo. My people say that "onye nsi n'awa n'ebu uzo!"-> one cannot run ahead faster than the person he is accompanying towards a select place for answering nature's call.

I want to see more and more of people from "SS" (particularly Ijaw extraction), leading this charge to defend their son in office.
If they don't do it, I would start to at least stay neutral until this game matures.

PoliticsRe: Ghana Removes Fuel Subsidy; Price Jumps - Reuters by koruji(m): 3:17am On Feb 19, 2013
All it requires to handle this subsidy thing is to prepare properly and seriously address citizen welfare effects.
If APC or Fashola does that they will be successful.
We were trying to tell Mr. Transformation the same thing last time.
But the Beafs of his world clouded, and continue to cloud his reasoning faculties.
As Yorubas would say, "the motherless boy should guard against back wounds" or he will learn the hard way.

Sincere 9gerian: I'm sure if it were APC or Fashola that was removing the fuel subsidy, you would not only have supported it but also given us a thousand reason why the subsidy removal is sweet. This is just one example of how deceitful and mischievous some of the few but noisy critics have been.

The Fashola I know, if he was the one elected as president in 2011, would have also tried to totally remove the subsidy as SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Hypocrisy unprecedented!
PoliticsRe: Ghana Removes Fuel Subsidy; Price Jumps - Reuters by koruji(m): 3:13am On Feb 19, 2013
They did the same thing last year, and had to reverse themselves because like Nigeria there was no preparation and no "real" measures to cushion the impacts.
I hope they did their homework this time, otherwise expect protests like last year, and then a reversal.
I don't know why African governments never learn that citizen welfare comes first!!!

HNosegbe: These subsidy cuts are obviously not limited to Nigeria. In recent times Ghana, Sudan, Indonesia and India have battled with cutting fuel subsidies as a means of better management of their resources and encouraging energy generation from renewable sources.

The best short-term measure we should undertake, in the interest of the masses, is not to remove the subsidies all at once, but to shift the subsidy to those who are willing to refine in the country.
