Has anyone got any idea if that's true?

Do you realize that at least 85% of people on Nairaland are Nigerians, and we in Nigeria do not understand ur useless Fahrenheit Americana measurements right?
How can you be saying the weather outside is 77 or 80 degrees? Sounds like hell.

Stop this rubbish. It is embarrasing.
Countries of less than 10 million people are producing fighter jets and maglev trains.
What has the igbo nation of over 30 million people done?
Yes, i know the whole story of how Nigeria is a zoo. Still not an excuse really.

Do you expect the SE to manufacture using their teeth or manna from God? When a government enters it makes a covenant with its citizens to provide and maintain their social amenities while the citizens pay tax and work to bring make prestige and quality to the state.

WHAT THE SHUTE HAS NIGERIA PROVIDED ANYONE TO PRO DUCE WITH? When the power industry has been privatised but still bleeds and their is no money for raw materials....what the Bleep do u expect people to do?

lookandlaff:

What was the good plan? when you were training them as pilots, did you make any plans with local airlines for attachments, internship? or did you have an airline you intended to post them to?

I can bet you that this was merely a deal where someone made money to train pilots. What type rating did they get? Or did they just get the basic training in a cessna and then govt said we don't have money to train you in a 737, Airbus etc which is where the jobs are? Do we even have 80 planes plying in the country?

Internship? Do u know how Airlines work?? The only reason people are liking this comment is because they do not know the exact workings of the aviation industry in Nigeria.

Politics / Re: Omolara Amosu Returns Stolen N381m To FG by kraftykc(m): 12:36pm On Feb 21, 2016
Everyone harping about this money should realize that we have been hard done not just by the thieves but by our slow government. What these men stole is NOT what they are returning, the value for N300million is not the same now ad it was when they were stealing it.

Imagine, they stole these monies when the Naira was 165 to a Dollar as opposed to 400 to a dollar today. That basically means they are returning 41% of the value of the item they stole. If a person uses your brand new car and returns it without a scratch it has still depreciated in value because of the mileage. These people must be made to pay more than just money back.

Madam'a actions to me, is simply 'medicine after death'.
I believed she should have raised the issue of 'fatwa', against her immediately the incidence occurred
or probably, drag the actors to court for a threat on her life.
She would have received more sympathy and support from Nigerians if she has taken this step.
Her image would have soared higher if she had resigned her appointment, when a subordinate in her department, was sent abroad, without her knowledge.
That singular action would have gone a long way in addressing many of the injustices in the Federal civil service, and probably, some other unresolved issues in the country.

If you think it's alright to twist a person's words like the OP has done, then we have nothing to discuss because that's the actual bone of contention for me.

Investment / Re: LADOL & Samsung Invest $400m In Vessel Fabrication, Integration Yard In Lagos by kraftykc(m): 7:23pm On Feb 17, 2016
mickey45:

This project has been in the works long before now,

I think MOU was signed since 2013.

It is actually one of the fruits from Maduekwe's local- Content- Policy (which is why I pray Buhari will appoint a fair-minded, indigenous, son-of the soil, petroleum industry insider like Allison in that post)
Total awarded it's Latest and Largest FPSO (EGINA) to Samsung heavy Industries.
But Samsung was mandated by the Local content bill to partner with an indigenous company to undertake not less than 10% of the jobs in the country.
LADOL won the technical partner contract (of course with Tinubu's contacts and perhaps GEJ thinking Tinubu will give him softer landing come 2015)

Perhaps as lagos was surely lost vote-wise, GEJ issued a counter directive, close to his departure, mandating Total and Samsung to move the construction yard down to Bayelsa citing its 'closerness' to the site and deeper water levels. Prompting LADOL to go to court then.
This news proves the issue has been resolved.

It will be disappointing if they fail to fulfill the backward integration vision the country has for them starting from local sourcing of consumables etc.

They (samsung Heavy ) and NLNG have been jointly moving Nigerians to Korea for training on Welding, fabrication and shipbuilding.
Perhaps they'll now employ them into full term work.
That is the beauty of Civilian Govt.

Now that you say it I remember the court case in the papers. I glad you gave me such an amazing background information, I hope we can get this one right.

Actually look again, the second Niger bridge seems to have been captured in the SS allocation not the SC. The breakdown is correct to the tune of 2.9 billion for the SE. I'm not too hurt tho, just glad the bridge is at least there, that's one thing off the list.

Freaking awesome news again! Jeez today just keeps giving me a gift after another! Innoson, Ladol & Samsung, now Katsina and Germany... This day is the day the Lord made truly.

Also I have to ask why Nigeria isn't big in sister-state agreements? If a state like Plateau becomes sister state with for example California the tin ore that Joseph has by the tonnes can have a steady market, as well as providing a steady stream of wealthy tourists that Joseph most certainly is in need of.

Politics / Re: Innoson To Deliver Bullet-Proof Car To Ben-bruce In 90 Days(Photos) by kraftykc(m): 12:13pm On Feb 16, 2016
People should please not forget that even if the maker of the car is an Igbo man, the most important person in this scenario (THE BUYER) is not. Ben Bruce is a Nigerian Senator, and his profile is what is giving Innoson a boost today, I'm sure Innoson will be grateful to Senator Bruce and even give him a sizeable discount for this free PR.

So my able bodied Igbo people, we must realise that we keep hurting ourselves by trying to appear better than everyone else. We hurt our country, our markets, our professions and honestly our homes too. Humility and brotherhood will take us to heights that pride can only dream of, so let us keep up the good work for not just our sakes, but Nigeria's sake.
