I hadn't realised I was untitled to an opinion and personal preference.

Please don't make this personal, I don't attack your opinion, I just stated my own and mine does not not negate the validity of yours.

This is a debate and I countered your point and proffered what I considered another dimension to the argument. Don't worry, they are just words

Sure Achebe is the legend and Adichie learnt from him, but I love her voice better than I ever did Achebe's.
Her stories are relatable and there's a tone of familiarity to her works.

Hmm. Well your lack of familiarity to "Macbeth" and "Othello" doesn't stop either from being some of the best tragedies the world ever saw.

Achebe reached for heaven and pulled it down to Africa with one hand, and his style is still almost impossible to replicate today because of its contrast of simplicity and depth in simultaneous motion. It is like trying mimic Jonathan Swift in satire; it's possible but it will almost never be as original.

Adichie's topics are too narrow, unoriginal and weathered. I am yet to see her breaking ground on theme, setting or style so please don't bring that hype about her literary prowess.

I have read both Chimamanda Adichies books and Chinua Achebe's books.I must say Chimamanda is a more prolific n wordy writer than Chinua...

This is insulting on so many levels to Achebe.

Comparisons are not always a bad thing but please wait 20 years before making this particular one.

Hahaha. This makes no sense. If that's the case no crime can be punished because all crimes happen in the past.

@Topic, I honestly do not wish this man well. I wish him everything he wished Nigerians as a Head of State, everything he wished the C-130 officers, Gideon Okar, and the numerous people he murdered to keep power.

I really want to forgive this man... but it is hard abeg

“You are creating a more dangerous thing than Boko Haram if you grow up not welcomed by society and with nobody wanting to help you."

This is the crux of all debates: do not repay hate with hate.

That God you quote so well is watching you in IMAX 3D. Which bill did you read and where did you read it? Give us concrete details contained inside and shame the devil or remain exposed as a liar.

This is a fight to bring Nigeria into the light, but people like you seem to love the darkness we are in where girls as young as 4 are habitually raped and abused, where we are yet to see females physicists in laboratories because men are having a field day with it.

Don't quote God, he isn't with you in this one.

I really think many of you people commenting on this post should read it thoroughly first. You owe it to yourselves not to look as foolish as you have now.

@OP, unfortunately I think some of these parents may have fabricated this news to keep the news in the limelight, not that I blame them. I do believe the first man who reported it though, because his story was more concise and better rendered plus it didn't come in a cluster.

But Nigeria is a failed state, and if this government doesn't bring those girls home it is a failed government.

But to the Fati story... Jesus Christ that is so sad... I regret not being able to help, I am sorry those poor girls and boys were born in this country, and in this age. It is truly a shame on us all.

I think this piece is more to humiliate the British PM than it is to castigate the Nigerian government because there is a struggle in Britain right now between their own parties.

I do not know where there people are getting their sources from because in the entire write up not one security source was quoted.

This writer should be fired.

Probably an advocation for a 3rd term- who knows?

for the record, I dont hate anyone

Buhari is not perfect but he is working. There is a certain section of the country that hate him passionately and will attack all his policies regardless of the merits

Unlike you, I believe he is a very strong and good leader. The type of leader Nigeria needs for at least 20- 30 years to change the institutions that support corruption

Lol 20-30 years?? God alone will forbid such a travesty.

OBJ was the best Naija produced, and even he couldn't wrangle a 3rd term.

Your deification of Buhari can't end well, I just can't see it ending well.

That said, I pray every day that he succeeds because our lives will be better for it. I pray he succeeds.

The Op's analysis are not up to pay really, they are very sentimental and do really seem to grasp the full scope of the gist.

I too do not grasp the full portrait but I have a bigger picture than the OP and it is from that standpoint that I access him.

President Buhari has been WOEFUL, HORRIBLE, INEPT AND WICKEDLY CALLOUS with the lives of perceived enemies, be they IPOB, Shia, Doctors, and now University Students. People have died in almost EVERY protest under him... this is beyond unacceptable. I get that he is taking steps to try smoothen out the economy and I get that he is struggling with a dollar shortage, but allowing people get killed isn't going to help with that.

BituSoft:
Good day all. I just want to ask a question out of anger and pain. Why are their no game developers in Nigeria? I mean i will be 20 years old on july, since 2013, i have been trying to make my own game. As a result of this i have used many game engines namely: 3Drad, yoyo gameMaker, A3 game studio, coppercube, and am currently using unity. When ever i see Ninja theory team, EA, ubisoft games Activision games and even the indie game makers like team meat and others. I feel like crying, why am a Nigerian? No body wants to support me? Any of my 3D models that i upload on facebook, they only recieve 9 to 15 likes. But when a girl just upload a selfie, the photo gets upto eighty something likes. Nigeria is filled with talents. We can do something, lets just try. I know game making requires dedication, time and hardwork, i have been doing it for a long time now( Two to three years) just that i abandon the projects after sometime because of lack of encouragement. Boys only seams to be attracted to girls only. I am currently in the University studying Electrical and electronics engineering, a course i hate. And i am currently working on a 2D game. I know 3D modelling, rigging, animations and many others in blender. I struggle with creating textures in gimp, I know csharp fairly well. Here is one of my work.

Despairing at your age is a common feature in Nigeria. But I think you may have the wrong idea if you think things would not be hard elsewhere in the world. Just keep at your work, and keep advertising yourself. Yours is a tough industry and there are too many environmental factors against you, think yourself out the box. Us gamers love solving puzzles. Just calm down and rethink your business, the approach, the potential customers, the investors, the challenges you expect to face, the REALISTIC gains you stand to make and then ask yourself how good you really are at your job. What is your level of skill, will it sustain u are do you need more?

Keep calm and succeed bruh!
