ZesusHVWritter:Hmm Reading up on this thread, I admire your zeal to bring about a revolution in Nigeria mobile tech space. Concerning the reply from Sony, it could mean either of the following; 1. Probably can't answer your query cos it's a "non-sony" product 2. Question is being avoided, business ethics and all Only hope is to wait for DXO reply and review eventually... Unless Transsion pulls a Figgers Wireless move on them (Flossy Carter fans understands). All the same, keep up. When the time reach to slap some sense and force a change or show them the exit door, I'm all in. |
greenhulk:All na preference, sometimes the ROMs are better in some cases. |
Yellowblack:Carlcare or them local engineers? Anyway my advice to you is to save up and buy another phone if you fix it or use it as it is. |
It's spark 2 ooo Your charging port might be bad and needs replacement. You sha know what to do. |
There's been an uproar in the Samsung community, and the recent one caused by a wallpaper. Seems unrealistic I know but since Samsung has been having a pretty bad year, from the Exynos movement to complaints about the screen. Twitter user and Samsung leakster @universeIce tweeted a warning about a certain wallpaper which caused his Samsung device to crash and bootloop. Unfortunately, most users didn't take his warning seriously and ended up using said image as a wallpaper. Their reactions... You get the idea. Digging through some sites and sources, a reddit user xanaxdroid_ found out why the image caused devices to crash. The crash was caused because the image had the embedded color profile Google/Skia/E3CADAB7BD3DE5E3436874D2A9DEE126, which he assumed was encoded incorrectly to crash systemui since Android uses Skia in their frameworks. What this means is the code in SystemUI is trying to read the exposure of the photo. The histogram code can't read the exposure correctly which causes it to crash. In layman's terms, the color profile used on the image is RGB as opposed to sRGB that Android uses. Normally all images are supposed to be converted to sRGB unless specified by the developer but in this case there's a rare bug that calculates the luminance of each pixel of the image to exceed 255 and the image luminance is 257. He went on to remove the color profile and has since then not experienced any crashes whatsoever. Several reddit users pointed out that the color profile can be removed from the image or any image that has a color profile wrongly implemented by using Photoshop, Gimp, Ms paint or what I call the best solution for the non-tech community, screenshot. Should you ever get curious to try this - no I'm not dropping links to the bugged image - the only solution apart from a hard reset is to be quick in changing your wallpaper. There's a 10-second window from when you gain control of your phone to change the wallpaper to a bug free one. Unless you're the Flash, a renowned keyboard warrior or you have the gallery icon on your home screen a hard reset/factory reset is the only way around this. With this recent development, Google is aware of this issue and are conducting it's own tests to see if they can fix the issue and determine if it might be an exploit. For your information, a single pixel or two in this case is what's causing the whole issue, not the image itself. Should you want the full works, drop by on XDA. Update 1 - it affects some devices apart from Samsung. Update 2 - Android 10 below are affected. Though not all devices are but I advise you not to play Russian roulette with your phone. LineageOS devs dropped a patch for this problem on Gerrit. Links should be available on their telegram group. Sources - XDA, Reddit, Twitter *Attached a screenshot of the image of you want to use*

Justifications here and there... It's well |
legionISproteus:Honestly it was |

Looks like exynos variant. Anyhow enjoy your phone. |
legionISproteus:Yes the exynos variant is easy to root than the snapdragon variant and while it might not make sense, sometimes it does, like there's lots of ROM to choose from that's kinda better than the one current device and flashing kernels helps tremendously. |
Just imagine... Yet someone will come and tell me this phone is a steal for that price. I pity some people |
Stanl3y:True that, but one can get the snapdragon variant, factory unlocked too here in Nigeria if he/she knows where to look. |
edoairways:Brand bashing is normal but in this case, it's special as some are coming off the brand after doing their homework on the brand (Transsion) and are lashing out which I understand. edoairways:This one would be hard to do. Tecno is the proverbial black sheep in the eyes of them enlightened here in Nigeria. edoairways:Same abuse and rants was what made me have an interest in xiaomi phones in the first place. Sure it's unethical but it's what has piqued the interest of most Nigerians. edoairways:The average Nigerian believes that the bigger the number, the better. And I don't believe in teaching/learning without detailed examples. @bolded is just wrong. The hell would be attracted about an analysis without mentioning a brand? Atheistandproud did such analysis with examples and I truly enjoyed it cos it was fully educative, Gsmarena mentions alternatives after each review, be it post was sponsored or not. If it were me, I'd laugh, do my research, call out the brand in another thread and insult you for insulting my intelligence. |
Stanl3y:Exynos 990 strong point is it's single core performance and easy root, other than that I'd suggest OP get the snapdragon variant. |
That's a falcon Held a baby falcon, made the mistake of putting my finger on its claws. It almost didn't end well for my finger as it had a nasty grip. Panicked that day cos I thought I inoculated myself with God knows what. |
edoairways:For starters, 1. The acts of the mods around here has prevented most threads to start and end in a civil manner 2. Some people's ignorance can trigger some people 3. Strong words must be employed for some, there are those amongst us who communicate that way 4. Out of everyone you and some here tag as a xiaomite has had a bad experience with Transsion devices and in their quest to find the "perfect phone", they've used or handled at least one xiaomi device Finally, not everyone wants to remain in the past, technology is making great strides and I amongst others wants to be there when it's happening, not years later when another innovation is in the works. If Transsion can REALLY get with the times, believe me the hate will reduce drastically. |
edoairways:Ban or not, there's others that'll still call out Transsion for their bad practices so keep looking for excuses to report. For your information, I currently use an LG phone, G8 to be precise and don't bloody call me a xiaomite. Me enjoying their device doesn't mean you have the right for slap a "fanatic" label on me. And if I defend them so what? I'll do it to brands that got my utmost respect, not brands that sees one as cash cows with brain cells to rival a gerbil which unfortunately... |
sajmark:They won't. They'll just carry all the money and dash our celebrities |
edoairways:Le onye nzuzu Since when has honest reviews become brand spoiling eh? You prefer this device with the specs and the 6+yrs old unisoc chip for crying out loud to be sold for that price? If I wish evil on you will you like it?(of course you won't) There's literally better options than this like OP said and the only unreasonable thing you could think of and post is brand spoiling.... You need help.

Karex81:Adding a whole new meaning to immersion ![]() |
Karex81:You have a point but with the hype around it this time, Samsung might make a profit this time. Only izh is they shouldn't sell the division to Samsung or worse Apple like they did Radeon (which is currently Adreno GPU) to Qualcomm. The licensing route is a better option. |
Redmi note 8 but if na iPhone you want, rather buy iPhone 7 instead of 6S. |
Karex81:Jesus Christ the specs!!! This would revolutionize gaming on phones, mostly emulators and a handful of other titles for the mobile platform provided the leak is legit. Edit - leak info is fake it seems |
You want to finance phones this period? Better one buy it outright than pay extra cash. |
Ellizsandra:Speculated price, not official price. |
festwiz:Co ask too What most people should take into consideration that IN 7 is Transsion mid-range device and Redmi 9 is Xiaomi budget entry level device, or has this changed? |
nightbuzzer:Admit it, it's better than using outdated, inefficient chipsets for budget and mid-range phones |
Company name and the nature of the job? |
TheOdd1sOut:Honestly didn't see it though now you mentioned it... Seeing it in .1. OP no vex |
Thebwoy:Heh, prolly overdid it |
thesolutions:Brand bashing is completely normal, something some people fail to see and I've used both Transsion and xiaomi devices, the former giving a new meaning to "looks can be deceiving", the latter like the unpopular kid who ends up becoming more successful than the rest of the class. |
Henreez:1. Who dash them global status? Bruh they aren't even in top 100 globally and the Chinese don't even know they exist, not because they're "too good" but because they're too pathetic to get along with the times. 2. There's entry level devices as low as that but are solid and you contradicted yourself... Which smartphone camera fades after 6 months eh? All so to upgrade... smh. 3. Big battery but horrible software+a power inefficient SoC would make it feel like you're using a 4000mah battery or lower for the average user. Also I get same 10hrs SOT or more on my device with 3500mah on web surfing and occasional YouTube. La big battery est useless 4. Updates are there to fix vulnerabilities in the OS, ignore them at your own peril. Keep believing that hackers got nothing on you. They're getting smarter and don't give a damn if you're as poor as a church rat, provided you got data they can steal n sell. 5. Same carlcare that rips off customers, especially the ignorant ones? Rather take it to a trusted technician in computer village and pay 2/5 or 1/5 the asking price from carlcare. Plus a guaranteed fix but since it's Transsion and their knack of using tokunbo parts...you get the idea (or not). Won't buy till they upgrade, stop seeing their customers as potential cash cows and follow protocols.... *Lil added points n strikes* |
