I guess I fall under the good processor, good battery and good display category. If I'm considering I look at the processor, then the display (especially resolution) then the battery and charging aspect (if it's type C, fast charging etc).

I can relate with most of what's written here.

"which camera app are you using?" I tell them name of app
"Can I use Gcam on my phone (you know which one )?".

Last gen flagships over new midrange fr, but when it's over 2 generations old it becomes difficult to consider. Another factor is that most times last gen flagships are still more expensive than current gen midrangers but if they're in the same price bracket, definitely a last gen flagship.

Current device is the LG G8, one of LG flagship. Lack of marketing/ads got device price dropping to midrange levels.
Wanted to get the OP 7 Pro but price of used ones could buy me a new Mi 9T Pro (which was scarce at that time).

Old flagship over new midrangers, provided the SoC is last gen (855, 855+).

Pixel shots looks warmer, more natural with dynamic range.

iPhone looks cooler - the kinda cool that are filter friendly - looks natural, dynamic range but the white balance in them shots seems a bit much, but then it helps with editing, making colors pop and all.

I'm not sure it'll be worth it if it's just for WiFi alone. Still root, you'd be surprised with what you can do with a rooted device.
Check XDA for rooting guides for your device, telegram for ethical hacking stuff.

Edit - you won't damage your device if you follow the guide correctly and install apps anyhow.
