Thanks Justwise, much appreciated. Damn, I hate passport office crap!! |
Hi all, pls I would appreciate a quick response to this: I am about to renew my Uk visa but I still have the old passport ( That is not the new electronic one) and it is still valid till Sept 2011, can I apply with this or must I go and get the new passport before application? Thanks. |
@Oyinda It is AMORC, check www.amorc.org, and yes it is an international organisation. Many members are not vegetarians. It is a mystical and philosophical organisation that's over 2000 years old. It is not a cult. |
@Ajanlekoko: you say a highbrow hospital in V.I? Do you mean Reddington? That is part of the problem! why dont we always come out and name these places so that others can avoid them?! I have heard loads of stuff about Reddington and what you say conforms, I should know a thing or two about customer service in naija; I created a column for a major nigerian newspaper 4 years ago and I can confidently tell you that nothing has changed! Rather than get better, all I get are threat mails, verbal threats to the editor, threats of legal action and the likes, or attempts tom bribe me; thank God I am faceless and write under a pseudonym! But the part that drives ne crazy the most is to have my friends tell me that what i am doing is not good 'cos some people may lose their jobs!! Agghhhhh!!! they should bloody not have a job in the first place!!!! |
Why do you want to stop her? if thats what she is, then thats what she is. If she's pretending to be one or forcing herself, then thats a problem. if she is one, let her be. My 2 kobo. |
Sit back, put your feet up, watch cable with juice in hand and relax man! na ur wife. I actually need to have a wife who would get to management level at one of thise oil companies so i can reture pretty quickly and facebook my life away! what r u worried about dude; no shame in my game! Lol!!! reserve ur energy for the lovemaking jare, thats all the real work u need to do now!! Lol! Just kidding! seriously though, it shouldnt be a big deal if you guys are real partners. Most times we men let our egos get in the away. I am currently dating the first truly giver in a life filled with stories of giving and not recieving. I had to learn to recieve and that it's ok and that it doesnt make me less a man and nothing compares to a lover thats a true partner. In my experience most women can be wonderful partners if only we would let them be. All the best! |
hi guys, pls help me out: I just threw my Reltel data card into the sea on 3rd mainland bride after months of snail speed frustration. I need to buy a fast mobile internet. i work a lot online and i need something pretty fast and mobile. I went to starcomms on Toyin Steet a few days ago and was told that Izap wasnt available. They didnt even know when they would have. I am told that MTN is good too. I am using a friends Visafofone now, the Huwei (white one0 and it's good too. Peeeps, what's my best bet? Thanks, advice a will be appreciated. Krisbobo |
@All Londoncool, Vicjustice and everyone else: My heartfelt gratitude to you all. I have never posted a question here nor have I needed a piece of advice but I constantly pass by and I am always amazed at the sense of dedication and purpose with which you guys treat issues. I do not see what material gain accrues to you for all your effort, yet you cosistently give a helping hand. May the God of your hearts and understanding reward you all accordingly and my it please the almighty to bless you all accordingly. I have sure you humbly feel that what you do is no big deal; the emotions that people express when they issues are resolved is a testement to the importance of what you guys are doing. As our nation celebrates her 48th birthday in a few hours, please no that in your own little way you her contributing to its greatness. Whwn people talk about all that is bad about Nigeria and its people, I smile knowing that with people like you there's hope yet. Thanks and have a great day. |
People, I hear what you all are saying and I agree with many submissions. however, I think that the real point, at least as i see it, is still being missed. Yar adus is a dagerous man. I have always said that I am never comfortable with good people. they are the ones who can do evil with impunity. This guy screams RULE OF LAW everytime but we know better. This is the second time SSS is visiting a media house since Yar Adua came to power, A nwespaper, National Standard, I think, was also visited 'cos they said something abour Mrs Yaddy. I cant remember this ever happening during OBJ's time and he was personally abused many times. Thus president is going to draw us back and lead us futher into deep sh**t. To think that we have forever wanted an educated man as president and this is what we get! |
@Mooretes Thanks Mooretes. Now that we understand that scrapping isnt a great idea, may I humbly proper a really simple solution? The next time you see a crappy movie, pls dont buy, dont rent, dont sit down with people to watch, in fact refuse to have it shown in your house!! Not just that: look out for directors whose names are associated with crap and refuse to touch anything that bears their names with a 10-mile pole!! Even with a gun to y head I will not watch MANY nollywood films, except when I need to write papers or use as example of what a film should not be, in any of the classes run at the centre where we hold trainings. This is the easiest way to get them out and let better filmmakers thrive. |
@churchman I would have loved to tell you more but thats what I know. I would ask my friends for more info and let you know if I heard anythiong useful. BTW, did they ask you to be initiated in the booklet you said you got? is is The Mastery of Life? I have read that booklet and it says nothing about initiation. About your rich friend: if he has suddenly got rich and he has no clear means of income, better be careful. My friends are not rich, in fact i am btter of than both of them! What thye seem to have is contentment and less need for material things, and one of them is quite advanced in his studies, maybe this your friend needs to explain is source of income or as I am not sure that joining Amorc is a guarantee for wealth. Cheers |
@Churchman I think people have given you enough info and it would take only a memeber to give you more. You have their website, go there and see if your questions can be answered. The definition of a 'cult' can be very interesting as someone like me who's irreligious would term most religions as cults. There's also a difference between cults and that whichis occultic. I have a few friends who are members of AMORC and he's what I can tell from my discussuons with them: 1. their study is mainly through booklets called Monographs. 2. They pay a yearly due and your membersghip is only guaranteed as long as you are in good financial standing 3. some members never go to the temple as you can be a member without ever meeting another member. All correcpondece is via post. 4. It is mainly a philosophycal and mystical organisation and members are thought to be the best they can be in other for them to make meaninful contributions to humanity. 5. Service to humanity is a core part of the order. 6. They tend to be quiet and rarely talk about their affilation. I have learnt this from my friends who are members; I knew them for so long and never knew what they were. 7. The average member is religious, either christain or muslim. 8. Some of the people who are regarded as the best leaders in Nigeria were/are members. Awolowo, Zik, Bola Ige were known publicly as members, at least so say my friends. 9. Reincarnation and reagards for the law of Karma are core parts of their knowledge. Dude, this is all I can say from my irreligious position o!!! Goodluck if you wish to know more, let us know what you find out. BTW, they normally say something like, "Every true seeker will be led to the path of light." All the best. |
Dear Poster: Ordinarily, one should not bother responding to this sort of post which is obviously not a product of any form of worthwhile thinking. But just so the enlighten minds that have responded here but are not practitioners in the Nigerian movie industry will know what the real problems are and how dismissive thoughts like yours do not help in anyway, I will humbly submit the little I know. Just so you know, I am a filmmaker. Although I have not taken part in any Nollywood movie, either as an actor (which is what I was) or as a director (which is what I am now), I will claim affinity with this industry. There’s a lot that is wrong with Nollywood, however, to suggest that the solution lies with scrapping the industry is truly myopic. A lot of crappy movies have come out of nollywood and they continue to do so. This is however not a solely Nigerian phenomenon. We see only a side of Hollywood; those who know will tell you that only about 8% of Hollywood films are truly worthy of their name but because we only get to see those movies, we equate the whole of Hollywood with that fraction. The level of crappiness may defer but it’s crap all the same. I am saddened daily when I see how fellow movie practitioners keep celebrating the phenomenon of Nollywood while leaving the work at hand undone. They scream that we are the 3rd largest movie industry in the worlds, yet no one is selling 10, 000 copies right now. Oh, I know how imbecilic we can be, but to ask that we be scrapped is equally imbecilic, if not more! For all the ills of Nollywood, you cannot but accept that, either by omission or commission, we achieved something there. We took something and turned it to a global phenomenon, one that is worthy of emulation. If imitation is the best form of flattery, then the many mini nollywoods now scattered all over the continent is testimony to what we have created. DSTV has Africa magic Plus, you know! See guys, the biggest problem is distribution; not piracy, not the crap that’s being churned out daily. If a distribution framework is put in place, you’ll see the quality of the movies rise instantly because what that says to that filmmaker who wants to do a good job is that his work will get to all the places it needs to get to, which is what must happen before buyers then make a choice to buy or not. Have you wondered why people like Amaka Igwe have not released a film in 5 yrs? Why she has stayed with television? It’s distribution!!!!!!!!! I have not shot my first film in Nolyywood and I have no plans of doing so until distribution is sorted out, BTW, whoever sorts that out will have too much money. Have u also considered what harm those 20 films-in-one-DVD’s are doing? Finally, when you dare to seek the elimination of the industry based on the crap that comes out of it, do you ask that those who have made genuine efforts to make quality films, people like Amaka Igwe, Tunde Kelani, Tade Ogidan and others be scraped too?! Let us critique this industry constructively so that it can truly grow. |
Congrats all!! Siasia is posibly the most brilliant footballer we have had so far (Kanu is only challenger, in my opinion) Now he has showed that he is a brilliant coach too. Whatever happens after this, these boys have my respect. I havent seen Nigeria as a team like this before. These boys played for each other and thats what one has always wanted. My cap off for this guys and especially Samson Siasia; this guy is just brilliant!! |
Whay are we playing so fast ni tori olorun?!!!! |
The Godfather - Mario Puzzo I have read this book at least once every year for the past 10 yrs. |
@Poster Here's my personal rule as concerns relationship: IF someone leaves you, male or female, and the you search your heart and conclude that you did your best to make the relationship work; never take the person back. Now, please note that this is what has worked for me and may not work for others so I am not saying this is the only way. If somene leaves, for no just cause, ad then returns, I believe that it is becaue whatever she/he left for has not turned out well. If it had, she/he will certainly not comeback. Sometimes the fear of the unknown lets us take people back, in the light if the devil you know, but I am of the opinion that if you are true to yourself and you deal with whatever issues you have personally, there's always someone out there who will love yo truly, always. cheers |
Thanks to all those who called, hope the info was useful. I look forward to seeing you on the 20th Cheers krisbobo |

@All Mine would be that song by, I think, Timberlake: Apologise "it's too late to apologise, Lol!!!! That's exactly how I feel. |
Hi all, How much should one expect to spend to buy a clean Honda bull dog? Thanks. |
If you get a commissioned project and you want your name to be counted among those who have short on film medium, then by all means do film. we basically still shoot DV here 'cos editing and broadcastb access in naija are still analog and digital, not HDV largely. For me, it is the content that matter, especially if what you are doing is a commercial project. Remeber that Amazing grace was short on 35mm and it was an artistic as well as commercial failure, home and abroad. It could not even get international distribution after being peddled around film festivals and being shown in remote corners!! Content! content!1 Content!!! Get the content right and the format will be secondary. Peace |
@Poster Really, This seems tome to be a waste of valuable time. If the reason you cant come back to naija is because you had a nice biz and two cars and you were a 'big boy' (whatever that means!), then you really should do eve3rything to go to that singapore or whereever cos naija doesnt need the likes of you! You mentality, in this case,s all warped. You want to go to Singapore because there are jobs there? psssst! By all means go! go and work like boy boy and life like as subhuman. I am tired of peeps like you who believe that a mere change of location will bring about a change of fortunes! Ride a camel, swim through the ocean; do whatever and gpo to this your singapore or wherever, you will have something to show for all your foolishness someday!! |
@All those who've made contact Thanks for the calls and mails. I hope I was able to answer your questions. there are a few spaces yet to fill. cheers and happy holidays everybody. |

I cannot seriously date a girl that doesnt drink at all. I like a woman who drinks and can control her alcohol. I have never been drunk in all my drinking years and would appreciate if she doesnt get drunk publicly, but if its in the house she free!!! I like to have people be themselves; crazy is cool, careless is what i detest. |
