Travel / Re: US Visa Application - Critical DS-160 Step That Weighs A Lot On The Interview by Krisddon: 11:26pm On Mar 27
tablesturn:
Hello Nairalanders,

I am writing this as one who once obtained my 1st US visa in 2015, then comes Trump in 2017 and I got denied twice after. I was then schooled on a critical mistake I was making while completing my DS-160 form and I realized that a lot of us make same mistake. I recently corrected my mistake and to God be the glory, I have just gotten my 5-year visa to the US, valid till 2028.

Now you must be asking what is this critical step in the DS-160 form? After completing all the necessary details in the DS-160 form, just before the end of the application, there is provision to write any additional information in the DS-160 form about yourself and your reason to travel. The best thing to detail here is to provide concrete and multiple reasons showing your ties to your home country and reason to return. So what are valid reasons you can include here? The following are possible suggestions I was given:
1. Ties to real estate property and show management of same in country (rental collection, on-going rent, mortgage payments, property in development etc.) - show photos, receipts, titles, statements etc as evidence.
2. Business ownership and current running of the business. Show how US trip can influence the local business. If you are meeting with partners in the US to improve US trade, also highlight that here. Show engagements with US business (emails, call logs). Show evidence of day-to-day operation of your local business, incorporation documents with your name, photos of you working in the business and improtance of the trip to your business.
3. Are you in the civil service? do you have an upcoming promotion exam? have you enrolled for a professional exam? (not IELTS, TOEFL as these show japa tendencies). Exams that will promote working locally. Show evidence of enrollment, previous certifications obtained, CV etc.
4. Support to a relative needing continuous medical care. Though sad but this is an option to include to show ties.
5. Married with kids, show evidence of kids in school, in the middle of the term, results etc.

Please all these above are just suggestive examples and be sure to provide evidence of the above. Properly filling out this section of the DS-160 form is what will ensure that the interviewer has a basis to discuss with you during the interview on your ties to the country. Also note that that if you are buoyant, you can also include a refundable airline return ticket.

Remember, the goal is to ensure that you have a proper interview. The visa officers use this section to determine if it is worth speaking to you during the interview or not. If you don't fill anything in this section, on the day of the interview, expect to hear something like you have not shown enough ties to your home country and at this point they are not at liberty to issue you a visa.

I am curious to read about your success once you improve your applications.

Have a fulfilling weekend.

Cheers everyone.
Hello, I'm currently filling DS160 form but have seen the place to write additional information. Can you help?

Are you people still claiming he was falsely accused of rape? The girl who made the list has made it public, he was included in that list for harassment. She also uploaded texts of him apologising for harassment.

Let people have a balanced view.
The girl cliamed it wasn't physical. Read it in Punch newspaper for more understandable detail.

Yes,have been dating my bf for (15yrs)he was my first nd the only one have ever loved, our problem started when my dad said he witnessed where exhibited an unruly characters to some elders and also cos of the friends he moves with recently as at then and that he wasnt comfortable with our relationship (which i pleaded and made him understand everyone deserves another chance but cos how principled my dad was he insisted he won't consent to our union)
To be candid, this is the guy have share all my life with,he's all i wanted in a man but my dad opinion ruined our relationship.

I think seperation from my husband is all i need just for clarity sake but honestly, the more i try to make the marriage work the more i drift away from him and I dont know how to go about it.

I have visited two marriage counsellors without informing my husband all in my effort to work things but not yielding results as expected

Sorry but you apparently don't love your husband and there don't seem to be anything you can do to help the situation. The ex you're still into has moved on and may have even married.
Going back to him may not work as it will harm you and also hurt your family. Your husband is seemingly good and you may not get someone like him if you walk out the door.
You shouldn't have married whom you didn't wholeheartedly love but you gotta stay put! Work things out, I trust you can if you make up your mind. Good luck!

I believed we all have past. Even myself have got a past. Same as you .

I believe everyone deserves a chance . A willing heart ready to change though.

And I also believed no one is perfect . The only bad girl out there is the one you have discovered her past .
There are many who we see as good , but undiscovered bad side .
You know all these yet you posted the long epistle seeking for opinions. Apparently, your mind was made up even before creating this thread.
Your problem is excessive flaccid heart that is hugely pliable. The sex and cheap gifts from her have also contributed in confusing you.
Men do tag some women cheap. Bro, you're very cheap and without a standard! Good luck!

Travel / Re: Travelling To The South For The First Time by Krisddon: 9:45pm On Feb 15, 2020
ThemanS:
Hello Nairalanders, I will be traveling to the Southern part of the Country for the first time in my life. I was born and raised in the North Central, Plateau state to be precise.

I will be traveling to Aba to buy some goods for a Client, initially I was planning to move to Port-Harcourt, then from there enter Aba and Onitsha after I'm done with shopping I will move back to Port-Harcourt and take a Bus back home.

Now the issue here is I have never travelled to the South, a lot of people here are telling me that there's no security, even lodging is not safe because EFCC might raid the lodge anytime. And the Streets are also not safe.

Pls Nairalanders in port and Aba should recommend a good and safe area for me. I was told keke and bus drivers don't usually speak English na so so language dem dey speak.

Help a brother pls.
How can you compare North to South in terms of security or even education? So, Southerners shouldn't speak their language(s) because you're going there to buy goods? No bus, okada or Keke Rider who doesn't speak or understand English.
I lived many years in the North including Jos. I've lived also in Lagos but I must tell you, what you're afraid of is mostly in your place. Why are you afraid of EFCC? South is Canada compared to North!

I met my beautiful girl through facebook last April and we started relationship after meeting face-to-face.

With immediate effect, i told her my future plan that all things being equal i will be a pastor and this relationship is NO SEX TILL WEDDING (I am 30 still a virgin thou and she really told me she isn't a virgin again, of which i have no problem with). She has visited me five times spending atleast a week yet no sex with her, knew all my family and as to caring for your girl, i am trying my best but here is the problem.

1. Spiritual: I pray and fast to know God's mind, but no yes or no but my parents went to pray and saw negative though i wish to damn the consequences and marry her but her behavior towards spiritual is bad. No prayer and reading bible. She can sleep eh na from 8pm to 8am.

2. Competition with my family.

3. Ineffictive communication. More like interview.

4. 'Unfaithfulness.' I have caught my girl agreeing to meet one man in hotel for sex and that one asking him if she moans
