I'm not holding brief for akata and I'm sorry for your experiences but generalization is the issue here.

This attitude is more pronounced when dealing with some of the ones amongst them that feels so entitled but definitely not all of them of which my younger brothers wife is a case study I will always make reference to and the ones that are my colleagues that are married to some Nigerians I know off.

There are exceptions to every situation which is why we can't just generalize simple because of our personal experiences or that of others.

I perfectly understand your submission, if you look at the percentage of the self entitled ones its far more than the well stable akata.. Haba there are many Nigerians doing well in a Chicago.

One advantage of Chicago to me is it’s one of the the most balanced/diverse economy in the US so for married couples with different fields it’s gives them both options compared to say NY which is heavily Financial services or the west coast which is technology heavy.

And the immediate past mayor actually did a good job attracting more companies to Chicago, yeah it is more competitve than smaller cities but less competitive than the likes of NY.

The cold in Chicago can change someone's surname . I was in Chicago around January mehn It was terrible. The snow made the roads looked so dirty, the wind and cold was just too much for me to handle. The town looked like a mess.

Interestingly there are a large populations of Nigerians in these areas. A friend once said the same thing until he got an offer in Northern California and left his house in Atlanta for the job. He later said he was just wasting his time there.

Central California is better when it comes to cost of housing compared to it's Northern and Southern neighbors but then I don't consider those things as very important as they are covered with the pay. Minimum wage in Atlanta is 7.25 while in San Francisco is 15. That means at the minimum level the person in San Francisco earns more than twice the person in Atlanta

Beautyaddy rightly said it all.. The cost of living in California cant be compared to that of Atlanta.. February of this year i turned down an ofer to move to the bay area, it was $40k more but if you factor in the cost of living and all it boils down to the same amount for Atlanta..

Many Nigerians think nursing is the only career option, CNA, LPN, RN,MA etc.. To me the best field you can ever go into is IT and i will explain.. First off you can learn IT from sites like codecademy, linux academy, udemy etc for a small fee do your certifications with true dedication you will land your first job.. Nursing you have to do your preliminary and start 2 to 4 years of school.. More so IT pays way more than nursing though depends on which aspect of IT some might be at per with nursing while some other aspect are way way higher than nursing..

IT gives you the option to work remotely doing multiple jobs if you really know what you are doing.. I have seen nurses work their hearts out day and night which to me its really stressful, any mistake your license might be seized, confiscated etc. In IT i can be in the comfort of my home doing my work and chill.. Individual background also determines... Nursing is good but IT is way better..
