ikechu:Apart from the obvious anger of feeling cheated. The biggest implication of a tampered odometer is in the maintenance and service. The biggest one of them all is the timing belt replacement. Some parts are meant to be replaced at specific mileage (at least to prevent the event of a costly failure). A broken timing belt can cause your pistons to be damaged and bent valves. Some manufacturer recommends replacement at around 70,000 miles. If a car has about 60,000 miles and was rolled back to like 30,000 you will obviously pass the recommended mileage without you knowing it, and might prove costly for you. There are other critical parts that can need changing but you don't know (the problem of a 30,000 miles car will be different from a 100,000 miles car) hence makes enjoying the car difficult for you.I have seen odometer rolled back almost 100,000 miles or more! A 180,000 miles odometer reading about 75,000!!!! Another point of view is that if they can roll back the odometer, who knows what else is done to cut corners. Other notable ones are disconnecting airbag lights and "check engine" light rather that properly diagnose and fix the problem. If you don't get the warning, you can't fix the car, hence the car will break down on you prematurely. That is why you inspect those things before buying a car. If you want to test a car to buy, turn on the ignition switch, make sure all th dashboard warning light comes on. (Check engine, Airbag, Charge, oil, etc) before you start the car. There are lots of games played by the Naija dealers, you just have to be a little vigilant when you shop. And not to forget the fact that its just plain wrong and dishonest!!! |

its not too wide to rub. i have seen that size on camrys b4 with no issue. Since the shocks has to do with height and clearance the width doesn't come into play at all. |

seal777:That is not really true. Your absorbers were bad and the tires rubbing has nothing to do with the size of the tires. The reason is that goin from a 195/65 series to 205/65 will only change the width of your tires. The height is still the same which is the "65" series. So it can't rub cos of width. The width is not that much wider anyway. A "205/70" or a "205/75" will be taller tires, which will rub. They arfe for pickups like Hilux anyway so they might not fit. While a "206/60" or "205/55" will lower the car cos you changes from the original "65" series to "55" Your car was rubbing for different reason and probably too much load or passenger and weak shocks. pato75:I really dont live in Lagos. However, when i was going through this site i came across an info on Benz Clinic. I happened to save the info. See attached. So that might be of help. Also, i grew up in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State (i am not sure if you are familiar with the place). One mechanic used to have a shop near our school and he is still in Business today. He is located on Molipa Expressway in Ijebu Ode. Near Yisade Hotel. I don't really know his name but he's the only guy there fixing Benz. You can't miss him. Like i said, he's been doing it since i was in secondary school. And i graduated in 1988. Leventis Motors used to send guys to Germany back in the 70's and 80's to train to be Benz Mechanics, i think he was one of those guys. Don't know him nor patronized him before but if i need to fix a Benz, i will go to him. Otherwise, use the info on that picture attached. Looks like a good company. sultaan:Dude! Whatever happened to the Sultaan i used to know? Honda odyssey from 1995-1998 (Like the picture above) is a 4 Cyl and sits 7. (3 in the back, 2 in middle, 2 in front). Same as the old Toyota Previa Vans. They all have 4 Cyls. Also, there used to be the old Toyoata Vans (sold from 1984 - 1991). i think they are called F2 or so. Basically same as the old Lite ace in Naija. sits 7 as well. Mitsubishi also sold vans in the US (1988-199?). See pics attached. It also sits 7. 4 banger engine. Are you sure you know what you are talking about?

SJack:Its hard to say without seeing the vehicle. It shows that there is a collision damage and i can't know unless i see what type of damage is it.
