bigfrancis21: GTB and FIRST Bank ATM cards are all DEBIT cards and these debit cards are accepted on almost all US payment portals. I used my GTB ATM card to pay my online fees for all the different schools I applied to. My friend, like I told you, also used his GTB ATM card to pay his application fee two days ago, the same GTB ATM card. As at the time I paid mine, I had to first activate my online banking at GTB for which I paid 3g for the token. But now, it seems you no longer have to. Seems every account holder in GTB is automatically profiled onto the internet banking system. My friend who never paid for the token used his GTB ATM card to pay online two days and it worked.

Unless your school indicates specifically that they only accept CREDIT cards, ordinarily a DEBIT card should also work. Of which I'm sure of GTB DEBIT card since it has worked for many. Look for someone who has a GT Bank ATM card around you and try paying with it. If it still doesn't work, then you may have to try the money order route.

I encountered a similar problem when I was trying to pay online for the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Tried and tried, no way. This wasn't an issue of credit/debit card but rather an ADDRESS VERIFICATION SYSTEM (AVS) problem. AVS is a security system platform installed by some transaction/payment portals that is used to determine if the person paying with the credit/debit card is the true owner of the card. This it does by comparing and checking if the mailing address entered by the payee on the online payment form corresponds to the mailing address listed on the credit/debit card company's database (that is the address you gave your bank when you applied for your ATM card, the same address your bank will supply the card company it is liaising with - VISA, MASTERCARD etc). In order to scale this hurdle, you must enter your mailing address word for word, figure for figure exactly as it is on your bank statement. This I tried and tried for many weeks no way. I later learned that the AVS system for the school could only verify US addresses and not international addresses and mine was an international address! Oh boy. I had no option but to pay via money order. This money order a cousin abroad helped me to obtain and mail to the school.

Bolded: Point of correction: You MUST HAVE A TOKEN to Operate GTBank internet Banking. both Saving and Current Account. Someone should please confirm this. or your ask you friend again.

I didn't say at the interview what kind of business we do, I just said after my nysc prog I joined the family business. I didn't explain my job role or any of the sort.

i'm happy you're seeing your shortcomings now. i think is very important to state the nature of the business, your position and the role you play or your responsibility in the company. Pls note that for the next interview.

Confirmvisa: keep quiet let others reply. I have 2 friends in the school right now as we speak. Tell me how did they get admission as students of aiu. You just wake up and start saying any crap you like as if I directed my question to your moniker. I asked gurus for correction of my interview and you started saying hopelezz crap about the school and telling others inconsistency is their problem. Where you there with them? Why not recommend your own school

Take it easy man, if you continue like this you may not get a response to your questions. That is his own opinion from the angle he sees it from. if you're not ok with it then wait for other people to say their own. But your reply is not welcoming at all and i'm afraid if people get other things to say they may want to tell you what you want to hear not the right thing. If it works for your friends those not mean it will work for you. ( i mean no harm bro.)

ivory23456: Hi everyone, this is the first time I'm commenting here. Been reading all your posts. I had my visa interview today in lagos and I was denied . While all the male VO's were just approving visas, the lady VO was just denying all that came along.
I got admiSsion into pittsburg state uni in Kansas for an MBA.
This was how my interview went:
VO: what school are you going to?
ME: said
Vo: course?
Me: said
VO: how did you know about the school
Me: told her on the internet
VO: why did you choose it
ME: gave some reasons
VO: where did you get your first degree.
ME: University of abuja.
VO: what course?
ME: Economics
VO: do you still live in abuja?
ME: no, I stay in lagos now.
VO: what have you been doing since you graduated in 2010
ME: I did my youth service(told her where I worked) and I joined the family business in August '11
VO: who is your sponsor?(I must mention here that $12000 out of my $23304 schools fees has been paid because its a criteria in the school before I20 can be sent to you)
ME: my sister and my mum and the business decided to pay a little part of my fees per year
VO: asked for bank staements
ME: I showed.(I dunno if this was the problem: my sister's balance is about 3.5m but my mum's is about 500k. My mum's own is low cause she just finished building a block of flats)
VO: How many other schools I applied to.
ME: Uni of Washington, Portland state university and Michigan state university.
VO: why did you chose Pitt state
ME: Said.(I said something like "pittsburg state uni has a small business development center that helps new and existing businesses
, and the graduate students will be able to work with the businesses and assist in the center. I didn't clearly explain what I meant. I think the word "work" I said there shot me in the foot.)She typed for long on her computer and said "sorry your visa cannot be issued at this time" and gave me that 214(b) letter.
Please does anyone know if something else could be the reason for denial and what I can do to better my chances cause I want to re apply.
School resumes on the 11th of August.

Your Interview is not that bad BUT why not tell us the exact things you said on this highlighted words. its matters in evaluating and pointing out your mistake.

December 28, 2012 i met a guy to do SEVIS for me and i have interview on 3rd of January, so he did it and i went to the embassy with the print out. though during the screening no complain from the embassy. my fear now is if i enter the SEVIS website to check my status with my detail its used to show me that there is no record on this details. i called the guy and he hardly pick my calls if he mistakenly pick he will say he has mailed them to send the original copy to me. Now i'm planning to go for the Second but the last interview with the same photocopy print out. pls is there any other way to check status apart from that website?

But seriously, Fedex has guaranteed delivery. Why would you wanna risk it with regular mail? Paid $45 for mamacita via fedex. I guess yours includes a pick up fee.

i use FEDEX few weeks ago and i paid $50 from Oklahoma, it takes them 5working days to deliver it to my door step. though i think FEDEX is the school official courier. you can go to the FEDEX site and confirm your self.

You need to first go to toefl.org and check available date. if you are in kaduna you can use Emerging Trees or inside Danbo International School. i think is 37k or so.

pinkyz: i got scholarship, because once you get admission, you automatically have scholarship,...am based in kaduna thats why i choose abuja which is close to me.i havent taken any standardized test. irrespective of the waiver letter,..i will still write the toefl to be on the safer side,...am wishing we all gud luck
