Am Alone:are u serious? I now understand, ok o , make una enjoy, what a thread, lol |
Am Alone:I agree with u TOTALLY you have fans here more than anyone, and there are lots of people who would follow u like tweeter , seriously they would cos your taste and style seem to be welcomed by many especially those ones wey no send as long as money could fix it, they are with u all the way, summary, ur thread would reduce argument and streamline ur posts as well, , it would be popular as well, if not more than this one sef, I know some people would not agree with this, but it would ease the battle of the subject matter also if you notice, many a time u argue, you end up apologizing for some comments made, this has continued still, bros e no good na, |
There is a thread on this property section titled " cost of building a house in Nigeria" , this thread remains , THE REAL COST OF BUILDING A SIX BEDROOM DUPLEX, Spyder, u do well, update us on this six bedroom duplex we have followed all the way from foundation till now, @ Brabus, u dey make me fear O, how u take get those details like that? as if na u be d accountant or building supervisor , lol, thanks alot, I am gonna scan and keep for references, it shall be well with u guys, Spyder, FIRE! |
Thanks TRAC for the detailed pics, however I doubt if I can find any of such oils here aside the regular mobil-1, Also in a bid to getting the correct oil spec, I went out over the wkd to look for the oil grade and the coolant. I was able to get the proline engine oil, 10w-40, and its 5litres, I intend to use it for my next oil change. on the Coolant, its almost impossible as I searched and asked most of the marketers, non could really identify the right one, they all had , the green coolants and the red one by ABRO & HOLTS, HOLTS=green; ABRO=red or green. so when one cannot find the correct coolant spec, what would be the best alternative? I current have the HOLTS as my cooling liquid and worried cos of what you and many say could be the doom associated with it. ![]() |
wrt, my earlier mpg I shared last week, I think I would do better after the thermostat change, I have done 150miles already and the pin is around the 3/4 mark, this wasnt so before now, Note, during fill up, I always stop at the first click, (I understand over-filling does affect the guage), I hope to fill up this wkd the calculate my mpg, saving over 500 naira on fuel weekly is smthn to be considered I must say, WHATS UR MPG ![]() |
tweex:I knew it would be difficult getting the real coolant, although I have not exhausted my efforts in getting it, I was of the opinion ordinary distilled water alone cant stop corrosion and tends to boil @ normal temp of 100deg C. considering that engine is designed to be hot? |
@ tweex, please what r u using currently and where did you get it? |
I understand its btw 2200 - 2300 naira in Benin-city about a week ago. is it time to engage the bull run? , lol I am sure many people are waiting for the N2000 mark. |
8000 Naira is more than $50, and thats what Mobil-1 of 4 liters is sold , , and its sold @ many Mobil Filling stations here in Nigeria.I would look for 10w-40 as you recommended, I hope to get it cheaper. I use Mobil-1 for my other car- , Camry: and I am anticipating oil replacement sometime in July/August after about 10-11 months, I understand Mobil-1 could be cheaper in the long run, considering the cost of filter and the and the interval for other brands, in my Camry I use even less than 4-litre, but MB is 5 - 6 litres , I would do the estimation and revert, Most likely, I am sure I can get a good brand like Mobil-1 in a 5-litre bottle as opposed to 4litre of Mobil-1 and @ a cheaper rate too, in any case, I would update you. thanks alot. |
ORIGINAL MB 224.1 sheet (full name: BB00.40-P-0224-01A), recommended viscosities: all temperatures: 0W30; 5W30; 0W40; 5W40; 5W50, temperatures above -4° (-20°C): 10W30; 10W40; 10W50; 10W60, temperatures above 5° (-15°C): 15W40; 15W50, temperatures above 23° (-5°C): 20W40; 20W50. @TRAC , I got d above details online, pls can u confirm if this is correct, also considering here in Nigeria, temp could rise above 30 deg. I guess its d environmental temp dats being refered. I still see 20w-50 for temp above 23 deg C. |
![]() lol, lol , even though ur subject could sound weird to some people @ first sight or hearing, its a valid request, best of luck, lest I 4get , if you are in Lagos, there is one at the middle of Ikorodu road- Palmgroove axis. its appears to be a car of less than 6yrs, it meets ur criteria , |
@ Spyder, do you think its wise and safe to give much details of things as house plans, exact Locations etc in an open forum as this? I ask this for security reasons, : Knowing fully well that there are lots of people reading this thread and perhaps not necessarily contributing, even though some are registered, its impossible to trace them, but this much details, ? ![]() what do u think? , I am sorry if I offend ur ideology, but I am sure meanwhile lets have the total cost of what u ve spent, as for mine, as a salary earner (lol) , I just hibernate small like snail, would update you when I don pay for cement, lol |
micomilk:its called Orobo yankee! lol Dad Lolade: ![]() |
try and take a pic of the two while you sit on the driver's seat as if u r driving, then post them here let me see which one cool for u, . ![]() seriously, for the camry, I am very sure, it tolerates even a bad mechanic and would rarely throw u off , if your maintenance style for cars is on d average, I like that Golf, cos its portable and looks smart, but cant say with its maintenance history with our great naija mechanic. or make u kuku buy the two, and lets have d testimony. (2.2-2.6M) 1999-2001, US spec. ![]() |
Trac:hmmm, Mobil -1? thats heavy O, to even think it comes with a 4-litre bottle, and I require like 5-6ltrs. a bottle is about 8k naira or more over $50, two bottles would be over $100 USD. I think what I would do is to buy PROLINE engine oil 5litres. I thinks its like 0w-30 or so, I am not sure, and its sold for like $50. I would look for engine oils of such grade as recommended and replace it, but I am not sure I would buy mobil-1 , at least for now, I would update you once I am done. I do appreciate ur contribution on this thread and I am sure it has assisted many benz owners in one way or the other. |

Acceleration is superb, I was overtaking other cars easily while playing 'jonzing world' by omoba. Lolzzzz[/quote] ![]() Happy sales, , I always like those that sell "AS IS" |
I was just reading responses and was thinking of responding " make una no let Siena hear you condemn Manual tranny" behold I saw his post, ![]() @ poster, in all its about maintenance, use a manual anyhow, u are on your own, when u maintain an auto properly, you might sing praises 2morrow. before now, manual cars were more expensive than auto because of the unavailability of competence for auto tranny on the side of mechanics (even till date), the main reason people go for Auto is CONVENIENCE driving sparked off by the high traffic congestion in Lagos and many busy cities. apart from that, Manual transmission is good and could last longer, your brake pads in a manual car equally lasts longer, also u tend to generate more heat in an auto transmission than manual. if you are in Lagos and your driving plan does entail u being on traffic often, I would advice you go for auto, again, must it be a Golf? , Toyota camry auto drive has succeeded very well in Nigeria so far, while not look @ that direction? abi e too big for you? lol |
ikhiaonose: ok, @ seller please can you sell it for N455k?, Cash! ^^^^^ Oh!, its 460k, , ok, @ Seller, I would buy it @ N461k cash! even without further inspection. deal? |
why art thou selling? |
Trac: |
just replaced my thermostat with its recommended one. 87deg, for MB C200. from when engine is cranked to 5min later it attains the 87deg and stops there while idling. but when driven off immediately, it takes shorter time to attain the 87deg. I dont know the rating for other cars, but I am sure irrespective of regions, there is an optimum temp required to burn fuel constantly in a combustion engine, lets have ur experiences, |
Trac:Thanks Trac for ur contribution. I have actually looked for this coolant, but couldn't find, I understand the colour is yellow. what I use currently is Green, (HOLTS), there's another colour RED made by ABRO, I ve looked for the MB coolant, No way. From your comment, I will flush it out and use another whose properties meet that of Zerex from what I read, they say this is MB approved coolant- see pics. Question: where can one buy this in Nigeria? alternatively, what other products matches its properties? Suffice it to say here that I did 300miles with 50 litres, both urban and highway, with 75% of usage was with A/C. before now it wasnt so, I still think there could be room for improvement. . I am convinced many people do not get such mpg with their cars, whether MB or another of its kind. I know 300miles on 50 litres of fuel is still poor, but considering the kinda fuel we get here etc, I think my effort in trying to get the best out of this 13+ yrs old car seem to be paying off, NOTE: this was before the thermostat change, so I am still expecting better mpg. lol huh!! how I hate wastage ,

The temp readings and the Tachometer after the replacement (BEHR) , the engine now warms up faster,

Thermostats of the WAHLER and the BEHR when removed
|
Behr is a better thermostat brand than Wahler. The same price but Wahler is not predictable. Benz's run hot and when Wahler fails, it fails in the open state. In other words, the coolant gate is open and it begins its purpose from the time you crank your engine. Since an engine is hot by nature, it will take about 5 to 7 minutes to get to 80degC as oppose to 2 minutes. You will not suspect anything. I noticed mine when it took forever for my heater to warm the vehicle at very low fan speed and the engine temperature never got to 40deg on a snowy day. hi TRAC, your above comment had been in my head since, WAHLER thermostat does really fail in the open state, I ve been quiet about this since, because I was trying to get a thermostat to get the engine temp to its normal running condition. in all I replaced about 3 different WAHLER thermostats , they all failed in the open state, takes long to get to 40deg centigrade, then after driving for a long time it manages to get near 80deg. I knew this was not correct, and was worried, I was however lucky over the weekend when I went to the parts market again just to inform the dealer to look for the particular BEHR thermostat and call me when found, and decide to turn to one of the many engines there, and saw letter "B" , IT WAS BEHR!, remove it pls! I shouted in joy! the thermostat head although didnt fit mine cos of the overflow pin not present in the head, so I had to remove the thermostat itself and fix on mine, thing had not been d same since then, it would be enough to state here though that 98% of the engines I searched had WAHLER! Thanks alot TRAC, I do appreciate! see attached pics

, so, its only Airport that can Generate funds jobs , boosts commence bla bla bla? ? you mean 100billion cant be channeled to something else to boost the living standard of average Lagosian? How many Lagosian work and use the Airports? what necessitated the airport idea? rubbish! !!! few decision makers are at work to decide what would benefit them, and some folks are talking jazz about employment and commerce only via airport for the now, Rubbish. Just the way Kaduna refinery was a misguided project! 100% for political reasons, If I were Fashola, I would play back most of the comments made against his administration by the candidates of the other parties during the the last debates and campaigns etc, THOSE ARE THE REAL ISSUES ON GROUND . let the ordinary lagosian feel A BALANCED pulse of the govt in every area, and NOT 90% TO THE ELITES AND THOSE THAT DECIDES THE GOVT, and 5% to the ordinary lagosian and 5% goes to the invisible |
![]() what a thread, in the last 2 months, lots of people have registered on nairaland because of this topic, on the property section, it has almost hit 2000 responses. kudos to the guy wey initiate am and also to the engine rooms in the thread, , wrt cement prices, if many people wait for the price to fall during raining season, would the high nos of persons waiting not shoot up the price? on the average it currently sells b/w 2300 & 2500 excluding Abuja. but wait o, assuming its 2k we all await, and u r buying 500 bags, , 400naira X 500 = 200k , NA MONEY O!lemme join the queue of waiters, lol |
