I googled what you called it and came up with this below, could this be my case?

THE BASIC OPERATION OF A PCV VALVE
(POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION)

A PCV valve is one of the first pollution control devices. It allows crankcase fumes to be burned in the combustion process. Engine vacuum pulls airborne pollutants from the engine valve cover to the carburetor or fuel injection system through a rubber hose. The PCV valve is a small plastic or metal cylinder housing with a valve & spring inside. When the engine is running, engine vacuum draws engine fumes to the air intake system. Engine vacuum is greatest at an idle.

A PCV valve that sticks could cause an engine to:

1. idle rough
2. have poor acceleration
3. form sludge
4. cause poor fuel economy

tanks for your response Trac, its an M111 engine, W202, I would appreciate if you can help me check whether that vacuum does work with the aircondition, u r dead right on the rough idling it, it even stalls when the gear is engaged or the AC is on, this is more evident when the engine has not heated up.
Car Talk › Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by kuntash(op): 10:48pm On Apr 16, 2011
the connection of the vacuum I am really concerned about now has one end from the actuator body, where air is sucked by the actuator and its other end connects to the fuel tank, maybe to contain vapour leak or so, I do not know for sure, but this is a possibility considering the piping

Hello Trac,,, below pics are the connecting hose of the actuator body and the vacuum I referred to as the regeneration valve, and the pics of the entire engine , engine is as is unwashed,

Thanks a lot Trac. First I would replace d thermostat, I would take a pic of d vacuum 2morrow and post here. I really appreciate your valued contribution to dis thread.
Car Talk › Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by kuntash(op): 8:34am On Apr 15, 2011
to add to ^^^^

I just swapped my engine last week,

reason,

1- I have noticed the throttle body actuator isnt working well, (if you remove the hose connected to it linking the regeneration vacuum , nothing is noticed) whence with the idea I had with other cars of its kind, you would notice a strong air sucked in by the actuator, the cost of another actuator was from 8k or more, labour, N500 naira to 1.5k

2- I thought I would be able to gain more power and gain on gas, cos I did notice some leaks around the gasket although the quantity was insignificant - but I suspected it could result to loss of pressure and thus power.

3- The engine was relatively cheap, and quite neat and had pressure as confirmed by the mechanic, (Engine was 35k)

Putting all these together, I had to go for the replacement, since I would be getting an engine that has not been worked on, the engine has been running for 8-days now, so far so good? grin grin grin grin grin I have to confess, I didnt really notice that much difference in the power I wanted especially when AC is ON, but the actuator worked, no oil leaks, infact, I am still running with the engine oil that was in it, I had a thermostat with 71/degC, in my old engine so I used it, I have noticed the temp rarely gets to 80DegC, meanwhile the new engine had a rating of 87degC, is anything wrong with this?, should I return it to the original status of 87?,

Also, how can I test that the regeneration vacuum is working with the actuator, I expected a "tick - tick or vibrating sound from that small vacuum"

thanks

Thanks for your response Trac.

- I have a C-200 Elegance.
-If u read some of my posts earlier, I have stated that I am kinda new to Benz even though I appreciate the ride.
- you sound quite technical, this is good, however, there could be other persons like me who would appreciate you juxtapose your MB terms with pics. e.g the Wahler and Behr thermostats.

- I was also hoping to read a line where u might refer me to a MB professional that understands the workings of a w202 of my year, I don't compromise quality repairs, if I cant afford it, I sell or dump the car until I am ready, the fact that a professional is being sought doesn't mean one should pay at a cut-throat price.

- Just as I explained in my last post, the module that kicks the fan and regulates its speed is right in front of the driver's side of the front Tyre. about 5 separate wires socket hooking onto the module.

In my own case, I didnt get the car as new or even a first time user in Naija, and according to my mechanic, its had an history of over-heating, and the gasket I am sure has been tampered with even as explained by my mechanic, I am seeing the car as an experiment, and so far, I am impressed even though experiments could be expensive sometimes

in all, its fair to deduce that an average decent 3 or 4 bedroom bungalow can be finished with 4M excluding cost of land purchase in Lagos as @ today,

am I right or right? grin

We thank God for His grace. We are both teachers
Teachers! Teachers!! Teachers!, Respect them!

you shall complete your house in no distant time,

My mom is/was a teacher, retired 1991, after 35yrs, who became a widow about 29yrs ago with 7 kids then and the last one now 31 yrs old,------ I still wonder how manage she was able to build her house then and finished the decking,.

just recently she has embarked on a borehole project I did half way for her 2yrs ago, I am sure she has spent over 250k cos she had to do the over-head tank and service the borehole (change marine rope etc), where d pay dey come from? I sometimes wonder! even with some 4 grand kids she takes care of 100%, grin grin

Teachers really know how to save money, not to talk of how they care for their kids, I salute them with nuff respect anywhere in the world,

^^^^ wrt ur posts on this thread, your bargaining power seem shaky @ the early stage, thus some people like me saw it as money miss road person building a house and willing to bulldoze any obstacle relating to cash.

from your posts lately, it appears u r gaining confidence and the negotiating prowess is increasing, this is a natural phenomenon unless the person na mumu.

wish u luck!

@ sonety2k, use anyone u like, but I would advice u supervise in either case.

if u prefer hollow blocks and require a considerable amount, u can bargain the block machine to be @ ur site, buy the materials and agree on how many blocks to be given u from a bag.

ok then spyder,

but remember, just as I told u last time, when u become a commercial estate developer, and decides to sit tight in Lagos, many would patronize u, for consultancy at least, but since I be like soothsayer now, make u no charge me if I come to u o, lol

Spyder, forging ahead is about updating us on ur project, where are u now?, have u started roofing or buying toilet and bathroom fittings?

even if u cant show pic immediately, just lets know the real cost spent so far and where it has reached, I still strongly believe thats the koko of this thread.

I also read from u that its possible to have a decent bungalow for 2.5M, bros do you really think this can be possible with a place like Lagos? (not the water logged area anyway)

materials that I feel could be cheaper in Lagos are fittings- i.e plumbing, Electrical. also Cement , Iron rods and maybe roofing sheets , but as for Labour charges and cost of buying wood for roofing, hmmm that one fit get as e be,

I would appreciate if u can break it down for a simple decent 3 bedroom bungalow in a place like Lagos vis-a-vis ur current expense in ur duplex.

D house I currently stay has a WC called twyford dual flush. its really fantastic . D house was built in 1983. D system works perfectly. It even fell last month as I wanted to flush it, but there was no crack. Are these types of systems still available?

brabus:
My suggestion is this if you can handle it. Get a block maker to bring his machine to your site, give him the materials and the quality you want. Within 2 weeks, you will have over 3000 blocks in your site which is enough to take you to window level irrespective of what you are building. If I'm to handle the job, that's what I will do - no special thing there. There's no problem with Rainy season, its the way we plan and priortize,  use this season to get materials (sand, stone, blocks) to yr site. You can build in the rainy season.
Excellent talk,  thats exactly what I desire to do when I wanna turn my attention to Lag project.

I still cannot feel comfortable buying hollow blocks from block sellers who would sell at cut throat price yet plan to get 50  6" blocks or more from a bag of cement. its absurd,  many biz people are too desperate,  trust no one! lol

if I can negotiate the cost of labour and service for the block machine,  I would prefer it and still do the supervision. just the way I did while moulding my blind blocks,  I can ascertain quality that way. lol

suffice it to add that the mixing of the sand and cement, play 70% in the strength of the block whether hollow or blind,

Once again . Lemme say thanks to spyder, brabus n u r alone. Only if I'd started earlier. I sure e for don finish.  All my thinking now is that tiny project I started with ur inspiration , una well done. We shall all have all these projects completed IJN , :,

@ u r alone u say we should trust no one. If u r not buying cement from a factory or warehouses , trust no one. I know this very well. 5kg multiplied by 100 bags is 500kg which is 10bags. Or 20k. For a truck its 120k - and I am sure that can take care of some transport issues for cement dealers

When buying insist u weigh some of d bags randomly with a scale which u sef need to attest its working well. U can climb on it , lol afterwards u knw wat u weigh . Lol.

I ve heard of rebagging of cement bags long ago. It's very possible spyder . Meanwhile I think larfarge _   ie Elephant cement is cheaper.930k per load n delivery . That's a trailer load of 600 bags .

^^^^^^ exactly, thats one of the important things I learnt here, the core need for German floors especially in water logged areas, it was well explained to me by Spyder and latched in and insisted I would do it,

the logic behind it can be tested via smthn like the building toys kids play with , if u have smthn like a flat base where the bricks sits on, its more solid than erecting them individually,
