me I dey new to Benz, and since I started with a C class, - i.e younger sister to ur 190, I am not too qualified to say much, but in my opinion I dont know whether many mechanic understand that car.

I ve seen 190 chassis with a totally diff engine, if u ask why, they say it gave one wahala here n there, especially petrol issue,

so u tell me , whats ur experience so far,

exactly, dats it,

do ur servicing regularly and normal maintenance , and try avoid the following.

- try as much as u can not to allow Okada or Danfo damage ur front Bumper, I heard its goes for as much as 35k, I dont knw why

- same with side mirrors, and pointers, aside those three things, others are very cheap, (side mirrors 12-15k for both, pointers- 5-6k for both)

suspension (shocks ball joint etc , are like kobo kobo, )

- fuel economy avearge 22miles per gallon or more,

Tedanne, while not go for the W202, I dont think it would drain ur purse, perhaps more economical than some Japanese.

Nairaland auto section lately, has turned dealer sales,  thus doesnt give room for other discussions quite important to buyers and car owners,  this is not good.

I am sure its possible for the admin to regulate car sellers on this,  pictures, address etc,

I added more fluid to the transmission before driving home ystdy,  there was no error

same thing this morning,  it shifted well,  thanks,   even though u dont like automatic tranny lol

I pray its not the bubble issue, I read the car docs and its stated the tranny takes 7.5 ltrs, but I think I poured a little less than 7litres cos the mechanic was telling me its ok,

I actually bought 8 of 0.9ltrs pack of the fluid, so I would pour in the last one and update you 2morrow.

@ atasha, are u an auto sound guru? are the four speakers on the doors and the two @ the rear enough to make the car sound " gbam gbam didi " ? even without an amp?, pls advice

Last week, I did changed my transmission fluid cos the colour was different from how it should be (red-like I think) it was really dark. so the filter and the oil was changed, I used Harco transmission fluid (they say its one of the best),

its been fine since I changed it, and the mechanic notice a vacuum hose that was removed from the gear box and fixed it back- That corrected the hard jerk when gear is engaged either in reverse or drive.

but this morning I noticed the gear only stayed on 2nd and didnt change further, but as the engine temp got to around 50 degrees C. , it started working fine,

pls what could be the issue? I dont think its normal. pls kindly advice,

@ muhydeen, BMW is cool, but Benz all the way! you can confirm from our papas, that bought and used the old regular Benz. some of them still drive it till date, good, strong, reliable!

this auto column seem to be for sale , sale sale only lately, scanty advice for the prospective customer and that who has bought already.

@ poster are u selling for real or the pics are just for comment purpose, cos threads like this usually gets up to 4 or more pages talking about what the internet and the manufacturers say about the car.

@ Bentley gurus, the ride seem to be a 12 cylinder, pls confirm, over 300km/h , to be driven where in Naija?

My Guy, if the oldest v-booth can be manufactured in Naija today, dont you think lots of people would be proud and appreciate it?, lets remove our minds from being soaked as mere onlookers and consumers in this fast growing world.
I am sure you could still find cars like the old Opel Kadet or the regular benz or even the old VW bettle still in use in these advanced countries that manufacture 2012 cars,

Na wa O, how on earth was this car used? 164545miles in 3yrs? damn! what a drive,

You must have noticed a check-engine light on your dash, I advice you take it for a scan.

you can work on it however, by trying the following.

- consider changing the fuel filter.
- let your mechanic test for pressure from the fuel pump.
- Mechanic can open the throttle body and blow out the sooth that must have clogged the air supply for combustion- using an injector cleaner, cost between N300 - N500
- confirm whether you MAF is ok, and working, check for wires connecting to it,

Of these 4 suggestions I am sure a scan could reveal 3 of them based on your complaints.

At best, after driving a Benz/BMW, U could try a Lexus/Infiniti type jeep. But its likely U'll never really return to Japanese salons easily.

I actually purchased my Benz for my wife, but after using it for a week, I changed my mind, as I made her happily took the Camry ,

I wish we could have good mechanics, especially for the newer ones,

I respect Audi alot, but for fear of Naija mechanics, 1994-2000 mercedes in my opinion, are more tolerable to funny mechanics than Audi,

Siena would be the best man for your Audi or even Benz,

Siena, you are to champion the Audi thread pls, create a thread for AUDI, its long overdue for you.

In Nigeria, I think its the way the old mercedes ,(i.e likes of V-Booth and predecessor of the C-Class (190) were consuming fuel was responsible for discouraging many people. ,

so when u talk of mercedes, the first thing to would come to people's mind is , it consumes fuel, including me, like 4yrs back.

I was suprised when I saw the C-class mpg some 4yrs ago, for the price, I would have gone for it then, it was 1.7m, while camry was b/w1.2 - 1.5m, ,
