is the car amongst those recalled lately or there is a masquerade inside or there are no parts or good mechanic or the parts are too expensive/not available

I have not really found a reliable mechanic even though there would be many out there , ,  hence I try to fix simple things on my own and do follow up with some mechanics.

I rarely get satisfied with with the way most mechanics repair cars in Naija, many of them are in the attitude of " IT DOESNT MEAN, IT WOULD WORK THAT WAY , OR THE OTHER TYPE CAN WORK WITH IT" SYNDROME , those things drive me real sad. For example, even though the W202 is designed to be hot, it has a certain degree of temperature it gets to before the fan motor engages and starts working as auxiliary or in panic mode etc,  but here u see mechanics and car owners bypassing fan motors to alternator etc,  and many more!

@ all I have a PDF Owners Manual for W202 1995-2000 as soft copy, its size is 1.8Mb, and I cant upload more than 200kb, can anyone advice on how to upload files of larger size?


meanwhile @ Kabukabu, can I get the service manual elsewhere? I have scout well enough online for it no way,

Actually, it's the long awaited BMW rival to the SLS i'm waiting for.I hope 9ja roads (especially Lagos roads) will be motor-able for these super cars in the near future. What do you think?

my guy, not really interested in rivalry between cars, I appreciate cars even Kia Picanto,

on the SLS roadstar, to attain up to 60mph in just four secs would be smthn far more than when a plane is about to take off.

no where to drive it in Lagos except 3rd mainland bridge on Sunday mornings, else u are on ur own, Up north could be a place to try, say from Abaji to Kano or Zaria to Kano, (I hope those roads are still as it was then)

@ owowalapo - thanks for your observations, the thread isnt just for the display of pictures of Benz, but to discuss on issues positive and negative - common problems and solutions.

@ Blank,  your testimony is quite similar to mine O,  I'm sticking to this model of C- class so as not to run into the trouble with mechanics and wire joiners called electricians,  cos this model yr I have noticed can tolerate alot!

its a 1997 C200, originally intended for my madam, , I was thinking camry was it all, the car is smthn else, very reliable. Confidence builder while u drive, it has done almost 1000km on Lagos - Ore - Benin road, I dont think I can use any other car on such journey anymore

coincidentally, I was just looking for solution for my poor mpg on my camry. 98/99 model, although I have since removed my thermostat, but the poor mpg was evident when the car was solely used for skool runs within the area, imagine 127miles for about 40 litres of gas,

I have been doing some online research, and it seems its as s result of the cold running of the engine, because, there is no check engine light, car moves very well,

pls has anyone had similar experience? less than 12mpg is a disaster.

usually, u dont eat ur cake n ve it, more surface area on the road increases friction and this tells the car there's more work to be done, and u cant do more work for free, lol so what do u think would happen? , ur guess is as good as mine.

what a question, I initially felt it was a silly question, but taking a deep thought, its not silly after all, many people prefer giving all to make their cars in top shape, but often negotiate or frown at request for hair-do or new cloths by madam, lol.

I have said it several times on this forum, bad mechanics can frustrate the hell outa car owners, imagine naija most reliable car- CAMRY, giving this chap wahala, I suggest u change mechanic or start thinking of checking the price of a tokunbo engine, wat model of camry is it anyway?

Please can someone share with me how to attain the required temperature @ traffic aside bypassing the voltage to the fan to make them run permanent as long as the engine runs. (I dont like this idea)

I Think there's a relay that activates the fan when d engine gets to a certain level, but when the AC is on and on traffic, the temp would tend to rise to the peak of 130 deg centigrade,

@ poster,

- if the radiator isnt leaking, check ur oil level and quality to make sure water isnt there.

- if ^ is OK, turn attention to ur interior, check whether there's a leak from d heater core to ur rug etc,

these are where u should check, the way that car is designed, if you are a care-free person, the rug could be under over 30 litres of water without u observing it, courtesy - "Leaking heat core"

Pls I need help on how to synchronize my HDD to RAID-1, Currently, I installed it with only one disk after a disk failure, its this synchronization possible @ the LSI bios level?, (i.e after pressing ctrl+C) during boot up.

Hardware is an IBM X3850- M2, 73.4G HDD, SAS drive
