camplenigeria:Which Yoruba? Dont forget,we are also a forgiving people. Jonathan's mediocrity left us with no option! |
Are we this simplistic in our thinking? The fund for the donation could have come from GMB campaign organisation. |
ambrosini593:Did you study English literature in school? It is called sarcasm! |
ambrosini593:I Did you study Literature in school? We call this sarcasm! |
Such level of moral decadence. All women have been reduced to is to show their cleavages. Sadly ,we copied this evil from the western world |
Omase o.He will soon visit Gura maraji! |
I thought I would have a ground to vote for Jonathan, but on a daily basis,it is becoming rather difficult. I give up.No one can save him.I hereby declare for Buhari! |
Monimatic:Just viewed your profile. You neednt be taken too seriously. |
Jonathan's albatross. He singlehandedly fought Jonathan to a standstill. He deserves all the attention. |
nikpet2: |
Goddex:You are right .All these old men have done it,but do they truly represent the voice of the masses? Just go out there and hear the real people's real opinion, you will be shocked. |
Thank you uncle. |
The assumption is that you have got all your travel documents sorted out and you have a date to jet out to your destination. 1.Pack light-Dont travel with a heavy luggage. It is preferable you travel with a hand bag that could contain your basic needs. You will save yourself undue disturbance from airport checks.Plan to buy a huge bag when you get to your destination. 2.Dress simply -Wear something casual and not gorgeously so as not to draw unecessary attention to yourself. You can spot a first-timer from afar, from the way they are dressed. 3.Pack the following items because they may not be readily available when you get to your destination:toothpaste, brush, soap, cream.Leave out towel as most hotels provide this. 4.On the cloths to pack, make it light also.Go with few items with the hope of buying some at your destination. Go with a pair of light comfortable shoes and a jeans trousers. Preferably if you are visiting a temperate region,it is better you plan to buy your sweater at your destination. It is cheaper and of better quality. 5.If you are one booking your hotel, ensure you book a hotel located at the city centre. It is often close to all places you may want to visit such as the malls, tourist spots and even the airport. You literally save yourself a lot on transportation. 6.Be observant and dont jump forward for anything. You will find a lot of things quite strange,so watch out how others do it and follow suit. You will observe this in the operation of many gadgets. If you're not so sure, ask for help . People are ready to help you. 7.Preferably go with your raw cash and dont build your hope on using ATM when you get to your destination. You may be disappointed. Your cash can never disappoint you! 8.Go with a phone with wifi facility. You will have ample opportunity to download fast, a lot of freebies. 9.Be careful not to announce to the whole world that you are travelling. A lot of people expect you to buy things for them and this may eat into your budget. 10.It is better to have more than enough cash than not to have enough. It is not funny to be stranded in a strange land! |
mikeansy:There is nothing divisive about this.It is called differentiation. Every region has its interest. For the north,it is religion and for the East it is commerce.I dont expect a savvy politician to go to the East and be preaching Anti-Curruption.Whereas,this may fly in South-West. |
LesbianBoy:I dont understand. DOES NAIRALAND GIVE MONETARY REWARD WHEN ONE IS THE FIRST TO COMMENT? |
This is what "God bless your hustle" mantra leads to! |
It is always good to speak from experience. When I opted to study English and Literary Studies some 25 years ago ,it was because Law in the university was cancelled the last minute. I endured it and graduated. On graduating and faced with the unpalatable reality that teaching was my only visible option ,I confessed my regret. My brother who heard me spoke prophetically that maybe there is something good in English that I didn't see.Today,24 years after, am still teaching English in an international school in Lagos and I can say I am a rich person because I have simply explored the opportunities that a typical lazy Nigerian teacher has failed to see;opportunties of time at your disposal and that of the simple fact that most children go to school in Nigeria. For English especially, most good hands leave the field for other so-called promising professions thereby leaving a few of us to be reaping the benefit and we are truly reaping the fruit of endurance and longevity .One of the simple ways to be successful in Nigeria that I have discovered is to stay in a particular field or profession, continually sharpen your skill in it and be creative. Also always look at the larger picture and be the best you can be in your chosen field..The best Youba Teacher is by far better than a dissatified SAN.WHATEVER YOUR HANDS FINDETH TO DO,DO I WITH ALL DILIGENCE. . |
ismokeweed: That's none of my business.Unfortunately ,not funny! |
UrbanMystique: yeah typical christians..I know this must be coming from a Muslim or an atheist. They never believe in miracles, they only believe bin aajo! |
When people do public display of emotion, especially guys, there is definitely something to hide. These people just make me laugh. They spend millions to stage a society wedding and give them so few months ,they are already embroiled in extra marital affairs, which tells me that any marriage not built on Christ is doomed to fail. |
As a sequel to my earlier posting, there's a latest development. My father- in- law stormed our house unannounced today and I definitely knew the purpose. He went round and round coming to the conclusion that I allow my sister in law stay with us for some time.I stood my ground and he was about leaving,he gave the parting shot that the lady would stay with us.That was when I lost my cool, letting him know that he can only advise me, but not come and impose his decision on me in my own house. He felt offended that I was arrogant to have boasted that the house belongs to me.He left for his base.I tried apologising to him if I was rude, but frankly there were no ways to assert and express myself. |
Chomzy19: Find an Apartment for her with or without her consent or notification; one saturday morning pack everything she has inside d booth, throw her inside the car and drive her to her new furnished house... Ofcourse before you do it tell her mum n dad dt is what you intend doing bt go ahead wit it wether they agree wit u or notVery radical.Do I have the balls for this? |
Her parents are aware. Her mother understand s every thing and has not bothered to even beg for her,but my father in law had pleaded on her behalf, but I told him to forget it.Moreover ,they are nor based in Lagos. |
I frankly need your advice. There is my sister in law(junior sister) to my wife that has been living with us for 5 years now.She has reached a marriageable age of 36 and she doesn't seem interested in marriage. Apart from this ,she doesn't respect her sister, always at loggerheads with her up to the point of exchanging bitter words. I normally tried not to interfere but being a person who does' nt like b much noise round me,it wasn't easy . This December, she travelled to their place and I asked the sister to tell her not to come back that she would not be staying with us again. She thought I wasn't serious because she had begged me many times in the past that she would change all to no avail. My challenge now is.She came back right and I told her point blank that she won't stay with us . She begged as usual, but I remained resolute. She has refused to leave my house claim ing she doesn't have where to go.I have even asked her to to get her own place that I would pay,but she just wants to stay with us ,please how how can I make her to leave. |
You are very cheap! quote author=Longeria]Eyaa, it's painful to die because of sin of the father.................... Yes, Soyinka wickedly transformed another man's daughter to SHEPOPOTAMUS.
|
He definitely makes a lot of sense.Jonathan holds a public position in trust for all of us and not for his family.Has Jonathan done anything for any one to defend him? Power supply remains poor and fight of curruption remains comatose. |
afangide: Malaria Na strong sickness o! ...Mtcheeeeeewplease do all your mocking now when you have the time. |
Frankly ,I am not the kind for sensationalism and that is not the purpose of this posting ,so I want only serious contributions from those that are spiritually discerning. I saw this full page advert in today's Saturday Punch and I was literally boiling with undignation on the purpose of a Christian service for a woman that was never a Christian and had never contributed anything to the faith 2 Would this service suddenly transfer her from where she may be at the moment to Christian paradise? 3. Check out the array of Christian leaders gracing the occasion. What message are they passing to other christians? And what would they preach during the event? |
In Nigeria, you have to boko haram,do militancy before you are heard. When even the people on the outside have not got what is due them ,what is the hope of those behind bars with no one to fight for them.? |
Wole Soyinka should be careful not to destroy the legacy he has built by involving himself in unsavory affairs. The first time the Prof disappointed me was when he spoke in support of Patience Jonathan's perm sec appointment, now this. Chinua Achebe was called the father and grandfather of African literature by others He did not label himself that People recognized his immeasurable contribution to African literature and bestowed on him that honor in his lifetime so it is quite petty for WS whom I respect a great to utter such words. It makes him sound jealous and he should be above such pettiness. Michael Jackson was called the King of Pop Elvis was the King of Rock and Roll Donna Summer was the Queen of Disco While Aretha Franklin is and remains the Queen of soul That label on Chinua is deserving. Secondly why speak about Chinua's Book in his death what you couldn't say while he was alive? I love Soyinka but his words here are beneath a man of his calibre Maybe old age is setting in Still respect you sir but you disappoint me here once again so sad.the internet has made commentaries on a specialized field like literature an all comers affairs. That explains why some people cannot correctly interpret a simple interview like this. |
ebamma: You know he is a fool, when he is almost 60yrs old and calls himself charly Boyyou are right.only fools make money in Nigeria. |
ib55: For a person that claims to be fighting corruption, where did he get the money to buy a bulletproof car. Some level of naivety in your statement. The first criterion to be able to fight the scourge of curruption is to have conquered poverty yourself.Fawehinmi knew this and that explains why no smear of insult was rubbed on his name. |
