lacasa: Bond in Islam??You aré right .christianity probably professes more body covering, but the error we dont fall into is to think we can fight for a Living God .people walk willingly to church to serve God and they do so becaus e they love Him ,not because they aré forced .As a result ,You can only appeal to their hearts . |
stagger: LASTMA should thank their God I don't live in Lagos. I will mark the official in question and have his entire family killed one after the other..you must be BH!Human life has no value to you. |
Lady Winona: I'm sorry that you have to go thru this but like someone said earlier, it's really not the end of the world. I'm a doctor and I've worked in HIV clinic for over a year. All I can tell u now, is that there is still no known cure for HIV so pls don't believe people who will come with their herbal mixtures or pastors claiming they can heal everything, cos we've lost a lot of patients that way. I guess the first thing u shld do is to go to a government hospital and register. There, you would be tested for CD4 count, Full blood count, hepatitis B, kidney function test, liver function test, chest x ray and some might want to rule out tuberculosis. If ur CD4 count is above 350cells/ul, u wld be advised to live a healthy lifestyle with protected sex and all since u won't be needing the drugs yet. If however, it is below that, u will be started on the popular first line drugs which are zidovudine, nevirapine and lamivudine. Now, this is where it gets tricky, if by chance, u fail to take ur drugs regularly or succumb to fraudsters who claim that they can cure HIV hence stopping ur drugs, ur HIV will become resistant to the drUgs u re taking, similar to how malaria is now resistant to chloroquine due to abuse of the drugs, if this happens and I pray that it doesn't, u wld be switched to 2nd line anti HIV drugs which is not only rare and limited to procure but has more side effects. If u fail at that too, then the prognosis is indeed poor as it's safe to say at this point that ur fate is sealed cos the third line drugs are not available in Nigeria and is insanely expensive and not free like the others. Also, apart from the HIV drugs, u need to take septrin daily to ward off some diseases that are linked to AIDS, so it's impt u don't play with that too. Taking my time to tell u this as I'm sure u'll get to know as time goes on. Good luck and God bless.reallly .by far cheaper to remain a celebate looking at these hassles of treatment .sex not worth it at all. |
sad ,but thé kind of treatment you get when you cant stay in your own house . |
You mean ,what are the THINGS That PUSH people to cheat? |
funny, but the reality is that whoever wants to practise photo journalism in a violatile environment like lagos must first master the act of self -defence like karate and taekwando.nobody comes to anybody's aid in lagos.i am sure there were a lot of people around.even the police could not help the guys. |
what a clever way to be a recruitment agent for illuminati .i mean vickyweezy. you have all the money and.fame here on earth and at most live for 150 years and.spend eternity in hell.what shall it profit man to gain the whole world and lose his soul. |
1,While a country like jamaican and other carribean countries are gaining more dominance in athlethics ,nigeria is fast losing out. 2.A few European countries like from former USSR are encroaching on the long distant races. 3.more nigerian sportsmen/sportswomen playing/running for other countries. 4.black athlethes excel in energy- sapping events,While whites excel in ' technical ' sports. 5.other athlethes from other countries see winning medals as a matter of life and death, nigerians have attitude of 'let me just participate'. What have you observed |

ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH THESE LITERARY TERMS? Absurd, Theatre of the Absurd-A style of writing that mirrors the confusion, illogicality, inharmony of the 21st Century world as reflected on the stage with caricature-like characters and disjointed plot.E.g, Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot . Accent-The effect of the emphasis placed on a syllable in a word. Auditory imagery- Figurative way of appealing to one’s sense of hearing in a poem.Eg. The voice like the rough flow of huge waterfalls. Aesthetics-The philosophy of taste or appreciation of beauty. Alienation Effect-Is the effect in a play intended to remind the spectators that what being watched on stage is not real. Allegory-is a device in which characters or events represent or symbolize ideas and concepts. A reason for this is that allegory has an immense power of illustrating complex ideas and concepts in a practical and concrete way. This device is common in Christian religious literature where Satan symbolizes evil and God symbolizes good.E.g Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan Alliteration-Repetition of the same initial consonant sound.E.g. Around the house the flakes fly faster. Allusion-Referring to characters and events in mythology (classical allusion), history (classical allusion), bible (biblical allusion).Eg.Bowing ‘New Sabbath’ or ‘Mount Ephraim’. (Biblical allusion) Alternate rhyme-When the end of two lines are alternated, usually in abab, rhyme scheme pattern. Ambiguity-A style of giving double interpretation to a word. Anachronism-A mistake in dating or timing or placing an event in wrong historical setting.Eg.Imagine a reference to a computer in a Shakespearean play! Analogy-A comparison not necessarily using simile or metaphor.Eg.There is an analogy of the morally loose lifestyle of the Romans and Americans of today. Anti climax-A false climax or weak repetition with the objective of extending or stretching excitement. Antagonist-character in conflict with hero: a major character in a book, play, or movie whose values or behaviour are in conflict with those of the protagonist or hero. Aphorism-A solemn, concise observation or statement.Eg power is mightier than the sword. Apostrophe –An address or appeal to a person or inanimate object that is incapable of replying.E.g.Thou sun, why thou smite me? Art for Art’s sake-The belief that a work of art be judged solely for its aesthetic value rather than for any economic interest. Aside-A long speech where a character expresses his thoughts aloud on stage with other characters present, but could not hear him. Autobiography-An account of one’s life written by oneself as distinct from Biography (written by another person). Assonance-Repetition of vowel sounds, especially when found between words and syllables.Eg. Wet is the pet of the rent. Augustan-Having to do with the period, early part of 19th century, when writers attempt to copy and imitate the grandeur associated with the reign of Augustus Ceasar. |
Akolawole: Total Nonsense!LOVE THIS! WITCHES AND WIZARDS ATTACH THEMSELVES TO WHOEVER HAS NOT DONE HIS HOMEWORK! |
aletheia: At OP: you are an idiot! An evil-minded, wicked, evil-eyed Nigerian suffering from PHD syndrome compounded by low self-esteem and ingratitude. . .those young men and women representing us at the Olympics are your betters and deserve our approbation and encouragement, they are competing and giving their best for Nigeria.you made your point;but you neednt go to the exte nt of pouring so much venon on me.i have a right to my opinion.thanks |
Rossikk: @poster, but I have one question, what differentiates all those athletes and medallists from you?? Do they have two heads? Is anything wrong with your arms or legs? You see this whole ideas of guys sitting down behind computers and castigating the rest of the country for not going out there and winning gold medals is the very problem we have. When will YOU take personal responsibility??that is the mistake most peo ple make with this kind of simplistic assertion. All of us (160 million nigerians) cant go and represent the country ,so we. choose some.we have different abilities and if called in future based on my area of expert ise to represent the nation ,would gladly do it and if i fail ,i take respons ibility. |
? I had lost interest in any competitive sport until the surprising news of the Tigers’s qualification. Suddenly my interest was reawaken. The interest generated by the promising girl, Okagbare followed and now, I am ready for the Olympics. The memories of the 80’s and 90’s when you are glued to the television tracing with your eyes, Nigerian flag and the contestants’ names on the competitors’ table came back. A week after, all the hope is fast disappearing. The way I see it is , we may come home empty handed without a single medal.Ludicrously,Nigerian officials and competitors still buy the age-long patronizing statement, ‘The Olympic is a about participation’ while the same countries peddling this slogan would start their preparation immediately an Olympic ends. No wonder, a Nigerian weightlifter came 8th,not even coming near the medals, but was celebrated for breaking the African and Commonwealth records! It is becoming clear to me that truly the performance of a nation at the Olympic is a reflection of the nation back home. |
What i want is that when i die, let my soul and everything about me die alongside me to, let me not exist in any other form again. Thats what i want. [/quote.what you want, but you dont always get what you want. |

DaLover: Why can't this f00l just shut the hell up if he has nothing else to contribute....right now we are trying to see how we can manage CPC supporters bombing the north and the guy is making noise all over the place...IT IS THE TRAGEDY OF OUR NATION.YOU HATE WHO LOVES YOU AND LOVE WHO HATES YOU.BAKARE IS NOW THE FOOL? SimonAndal: He's finally showing his true colours.what is bad is bad is bas, it doesnt have any other name. Fashola may not be aware that somebody has been arrested. There is a penalty for every offence in the law. |
Why this self deception? Show me your food budget and your lifestyle and i will tell you if your palate will endure such cassava bread/ofada or not.Leadership by example! |
Don't people realize we are in a jungle state? Nobody,i say nobody gets anything except through violence. June 12 produced Yoruba Obasanjo. Niger Delta militancy produced Jonathan. Those who are serious about 2015 are ready doing something about. Why do you Boko Haram is for! |
Now i believe our educational system has reached an abysmal level. Somebody who doesn't know what he is doing made an ignorant and misleading posting and before you say Jack Robinson, a set of people just lapped on to it without making sense of it. There is no evidence of the guy claiming he has changed his name here. |
Obi1kenobi: By the way, Seun should better sift through worthwhile articles for the frontpage of NL. On an individual level, I congratulate the subject of this article but giving it such credence here is pretty much applauding our national mediocrity. It's not like there was any ground-breaking, cutting-edge innovation we should be jumping about. Seun should also be able to read through the sinister motives of certain posters when posting this kind of article.sir.Don't you find this more cheering than the usual news of Boko haram and occulttic looting all over the place? Rejoice with however is rejoicing, your own will come too. |
Just a PR stunt. You are all commenting now.Mission accompli! |
The taste of my impending royalty at the end of the year. There was a particular time when i couldn't think of anything to write ,but when my publisher rang me to come up with a story and i knew the financial benefit,a story idea came up within an hour! |
Callotti: Show us proof that Jesus is the only 'biggoten' son of God first! The manner you people trifle and bandy around with the name of our Lord Jesus Christ shocks me! What does He have to do with this? |
The more years I have spent in the Lord ,especially in a church setting, the more i have come to believe that the more prosperous you become the more the tendency of getting involved in adultery (especially for married men). There were guys in my church who were humble and faithful to their wives ,but with little change in the pocket, they begin to keep girls outside and in the end eventually fall away from the fate. There a lot of men that have fallen into this snare. Then I come to realize the truism of a Yoruba adage- ti a o ba ti lowo Iwa oniwa la a wu (if we are not prosperous ,we live a life of pretence) .What is your view about this opinion ? |
