Please i would like to be corrected. The power situation in Nigeria (maybe Lagos) has never been so poor, from my resident to my office area,it has been the same story.is it peculiar to me alone because nobody is talking? What is happening? |
One day, all the students of a sixth form college got to the huge reception of their school which leads to their classes and they saw a big notice on the door on which it was written: “Yesterday the person who has been hindering your growth and causing your failure in this school passed away”. We invite you to join the funeral in a room that has been prepared in the dining hall‘. Initially, they were all sad for the death of one of their fellow students possibly, or even one of their teachers! But after a while, they started getting curious to know who was that person who has been hindering the progress of his fellow students and even the entire school is. The excitement in the dining hall was such that security men were ordered to control the crowd within the room. The more people reached the coffin, the more the excitement heated up. Everyone thought: ‘Who is this guy who was hindering my progress? Well, at least he died! One by one, the thrilled students got closer to the coffin, and when they looked inside it, they suddenly became speechless. They stood nearby the coffin, shocked and in silence, as if someone had touched the deepest part of their soul. There was a mirror inside the coffin; everyone who looked inside could see themselves. In there also; a sign next to the mirror that reads: There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth: it is YOU. Your life does not change when your teacher changes, when your friends change, when your parents change, when your colleague changes, when your school changes or the economy of your nation changes. Your life changes, when YOU make a commitment to change; when you take responsibility for things in your life and go beyond your limiting mindsets. Examine yourself this week, watch your steps, do a thorough assessment, your God given gifts, talents and abilities and see how rich and resourceful you are. Don’t be afraid of difficulties, impossibilities, failures and losses anymore. You are created to overcome them. Make a decision to be a winner, build up your confidence in God, and see yourself as an overcomer. If God be for you, no one, no situation can be against you. http://literatureencore.com |

OSCAR WILDE: A LIFE OF SCANDALS Oscar Wilde’s life story is a pathetic one of a genius who wasted all on the altar of pleasure. From his plays, The Importance of Being Ernest to An Ideal Husband, any reader and theatre enthusiast would see a rich and gifted mind. Read below more details of his troubled life… Queensberry, a Marquess had inscribed on Oscar Wilde’s calling card for his attention, ‘’ For Oscar Wilde posing somdomite’’. Wilde highly embarrassed, he initiated a criminal libel charge against Queensberry who was arrested with a possible sentence of up to two years in prison. The only way Queensberry could avoid conviction for libel was to demonstrate the invalidity of his claim, so he set out to dig enough dirt about Oscar Wilde through his hired private detectives. Truly they dug out ample evidence of Wilde’s homosexual liaisons .In the highly celebrated trial that followed, various evidence from secret letters to male prostitutes with whom Wilde was alleged to have had sexual relationships were brought out as evidence. With all these startling evidence which by now has become a public scandal, Oscar was liable to be found guilty. On the advice of his lawyers, Wilde dropped the prosecution. Queensberry was found not guilty, as the court declared that his accusation that Wilde was "posing as a Somdomite’’ was justified, "true in substance and in fact. Queensberry's acquittal rendered Wilde legally liable for the considerable expenses Queensberry had incurred in his defence, which left Wilde bankrupt. After Wilde left the court, a warrant for his arrest was applied for on charges of sodomy and gross indecency. Wilde was arrested for "gross indecency" under Section 11 of the Criminal Law Amendment Act 1885, a term meaning homosexual acts not amounting to buggery (an offence under a separate .Wilde was then imprisoned on remand at Holloway .The final culmination of this was his trial and subsequent imprisonment. Wilde was convicted of gross indecency and sentenced to two years' hard labour. The harsh experience dealt a huge blow to Wilde. His health declined sharply, and in November he collapsed during chapel from illness and hunger. His right ear drum was ruptured in the fall, an injury that would later contribute to his death. He spent two months in the infirmary. Wilde was released on 19 May 1897, and though his health had suffered greatly, he had a feeling of spiritual renewal. He immediately wrote to the Society of Jesus requesting a six-month Catholic retreat; when the request was denied, Wilde wept. "I intend to be received before long", Wilde told a journalist who asked about his religious intentions. He left England the next day for the continent, to spend his last three years in penniless exile. He took the name "Sebastian Melmoth", after Saint Sebastian, and the titular character of Melmoth the Wanderer; a gothic novel by Charles Maturin, Wilde's great-uncle. Wilde wrote two long letters to the editor of the Daily Chronicle, describing the brutal conditions of English prisons and advocating penal reform. Although Douglas had been the cause of his misfortunes, he and Wilde were reunited in August 1897 at Rouen. This meeting was disapproved of by the friends and families of both men. Constance Wilde was already refusing to meet Wilde or allow him to see their sons, though she kept him supplied with money. During the latter part of 1897, Wilde and Douglas lived together near Naples for a few months until they were separated by their respective families under the threat of a cutting-off of funds. Shortly after, he was found dead in his hotel room. [/literatureencore.com ] |
This topic started from the discussion in my office based on the myriad of problems facing Nigeria ,especially from the perspective of leadership. We came up with the following qualities: 1.A man ready to lay down his life 2 A man who would have shipped his family to a remote country to avoid a backlash effect of his action. . 3 A man ready to issue a public disclaimer of friends and relatives. 4.A man who is absolutely faithful to his wife 5. A man that enjoys fasting and doesn't drink,to avoid being poisoned. 6 A man that hates parties and would never eat outside. 7 A man that is Godly that believes and trusts in God . 8 A man that surrounds himself with men of prayer 24/7 8. Lastly a man a clear goal of what he wants to achieve. Please be free to add your own. |
You can imagine proposing to visit a place especially when you are going with your students without having familiarized yourself with the place before hand. That was my situation when i set out for Ososa, the home of the legendary Hubert Ogunde, the man reputed to be the father of modern theater in Nigeria.when we arrived at the deserted house we were not disappointed. It was like as journey into history. From the courteous mens attack the entrance,we were welcomed by statues of people close to Ogunde:his favorite wife,Adesewa, his parents, all in life-size images. At the center of the expansive compound was the burial place of Ogunde himself. We were then taken round the intact costume rooms, rehearsal hall, baba 'sitting room well furnished. We also saw many effect used in film making. Now my general impression: there is a rich store of historical treasure lying here which most Nigerians are not aware of.It is just unbelievable. The man himself,Ogunde must have envisaged that one day his house may become a museum of sort,,so he has meticulously documented every detail of his interesting and pioneering journey into the world of arts. Government should take over this place for better management and the place further publiciced for people to visit. |
Why won't the operation fail? Nigeria was involved! |
Strange really that in this enlightened age some people would decide to join the occult for any gain whatsoever.Occult gives immediate gratification, but in the long run, perdition is the result. |

Where does Dangote make bulk of his profit? SW! Yet no university in the region deserves anything. Quite unfair. |
Yes,i made about N200,000 last year.Hope to make more this year! |
I need your urgent help and information.I am taking my Literature students on an excursion to OsosaOgun-state ,the home of the legendary Hubert Ogunde. Has anybody in NL visited the place? Is it a place students can visit? |
As Nobel and novel as NL is ,it is its invasion by these tribal cretins that will destroy it. Only a fool sees issues from tribal perspective because it is a Variable you can't determine. |
Ya ,i am happy simply because i live a life of no pretence. |
I don't know about you,but i personally look at all celebrities with pity. They are empty, vain and insecure They don't live their own lives, but live to please the crowd. I think this is one habit that could make anyone miserable. I picture celebrities being happy or feigning it in public, but in secrecy of their rooms, before their mirrors ,they cry themselves to sleep. What do you think? |
I need information from anybody that has visited Hubert Ogunde home.is it open to visitors and what are the expectations. I intend taking my Literature students on excursion on Friday. |

It baffles every time. Why do igbos love this ezehood so much considering the fact that Igbo culture not such. |
I have an observation and it is that Igbo women appear to be very aggressive. Why? I was once forced to check a woman who challenged a conductor and was rough handling him over her change in the bus.I asked, what has become of womanly decency comportment. Please correct me if my observation is wrong. |
I am not surprised that such a statement is coming out of our 'man of God'. It is only those that are spiritually blind that wont see anything .The youths that form the bulk of his congregation are the ones I pity most because they have been brainwashed and they can lay down their lives for their master. I once wrote this man for his opinion twice on his opinion on heaven and hell, but he never replied. What are the other signs of a false prophet? 1. He celebrates himself and his wife by displaying his pictures 2. You will never hear him preach the reality of heaven and hell with such pungency 3. Such preachers dwell more on God's grace and love and downplay His fiery wrath against sinners. 4 They preach more of prosperity, without its attendant conditions. 5.They preach the doctrine of 'once saved, forever saved'. 6.Lastly they have extravagant lifestyle and infuse wordliness into their congregation. |
Am married now,but one thing I learnt is that guys fail to do their homework very well. You take your time to study a girl if you are really interested in her. This will form the launching pad of your approach. How on earth can you run into a girl for the first time and blurt out, 'I love you'. So dumb! Only a dumb girl will accord the guy any respect at all! |
I wonder what qualifies a topic to be accepted by NL! Frankly i dont see any substance in this topic of which version of O Leku that people have? A week ago i sent in an interesting topic( is it true that Sunny Ade was invited to play iin the Redemption Camp?) which did not see the light of the day,so ask once again, what is the criteria? |
I would a confirmation of this information, because I am finding it difficult to reconcile what the highly esteemed represents and departure from wordliness that a church like Redeemed stands for. |
I have had the privilege of speaking to Pas . Abraham on phone and having read close to 50 testimonies of those shown heaven and hell,I have seen the correlation in all of them and this is what made me to surrender to Jesus(Read more:eternitynewsletter..com) I would repeat what also made my almost-atheist uncle to believe in Jesus. He said, when one finally leaves this world and you discover that all the 'lies' are eventually true ? It would be too late,so to be on a safe side, why not give your life to Jesus? eternitynewsletter..com) |
Point of correction,Yinkaolu.Dont call yourself a writer or a novelist if you are not published! Please. |
Talking with her with the hope of convincing her is just like cutting the leaves of a tree with the belief that you have killed the tree.Lesbianism has a deep spiritual root. Watch out for your own self so that you are not drawn into the act.Satan is very clever. He only needs to throw a boy-related disapppointment before you and you will begin to nurse the thought of gaining comfort in the arms of another girl. Watch out please. |
