The FG did what it needed to do when Uzodinma was a common man by preventing him to travel. Now that he is a governor and enjoys all rights and privileges that come that office, including traveling with diplomatic passport, there isn't anything the FG can do about that case as it stands.

Do we need to remind Punch or PDP that Uzodinma now has immunity against any prosecution just as Fayose could not be prosecuted despite all his crimes against the country?

There are plenty of fool and lazy 'yoot' on this platform! Do many of you know that more than 75% of ihediowa vote came majorly from 3 local government (around Mbaise) and besides, he didn't get the spread of 2/3 as stipulated. Even then (after the election), I was banking on two-third clause that he will never be declared as Governor.
Also, some were arguing how 4th become 1st, this happened after the excluded vote from 388 unit were added surpassing that of APGA and PDP candidates after 'eliminating' Uche Nwosu from the list owing to earlier judgement delivered coupled with his withdrawal at supreme Court.

The policeman that produced the result at 2 lower courts was forced to testify after been subpoened and INEC didn't argue against those result meaning that the policeman in question is even PDP man

I am very sure that the peofessional wailers and the wailing International community will never see fact over their fiction, they've been asking questions as to why '4th become 1st', is police now the INEC (forgetting that INEC didn't argue against those result and the witness in question was forced to come to testify )
PoliticsShehu Sani: EFCC Gets Order To Detain Former Senator For 14 Days by kutashi(op): 3:09pm On Jan 03, 2020
Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has obtained a court order to detain the former senator Shehu Sani, for 14 days to allow thorough investigation of his alleged involvement in name dropping and extortion.

The development followed fresh allegations levelled against the ex-lawmaker by the complainant, Alhaji Sani Dauda.

Shehu Sani was arrested on New Year ‘s Eve by the EFCC operatives in Abuja for allegedly extorting $10,000 from Dauda, the Chairman of ASD Motors.

PoliticsHow Shehu Sani Got Into Trouble With EFCC Over Car Dealer’s $30,000 by kutashi(op): 3:40am On Jan 01, 2020
Details of what brought former Kaduna State Senator and civil rights activist, Shehu Sani, into trouble with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and resulting in his Tuesday’s arrest and detention, emerged last night.

Vanguard gathered that the vocal former lawmaker had reportedly used the name of the Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, to collect the sum of $30,000 from a popular car dealer in the state with an assurance to shield him and his company from any form of inquiry by the anti-graft agency.

However, it was gathered that the cash payment soon became a source of anger between Shehu Sani and the car dealer and eventually drew the attention of Magu and EFCC.

The former senator is also said to have declined to pick his calls or respond to text messages sent to him by the operatives of the anti-graft agency over the development.

An operative said on Tuesday that it was on the basis of his refusal to honour previous invitations that they stormed his home and arrested him for interrogation

“The former Senator is with us as we speak and he is going to be with us even up to the New Year and we hope to grill him on various issues of interest to us, “an official of the anti-graft agency said on Tuesday.

Asked to disclose the exact amount reportedly taken from victims by the former lawmaker, the source declined to be specific; pointing out that the figure would be made known after interrogation of the former Central Kaduna Senator.

The arrest of Shehu Sani coincides with the rejection of a no-case-submission by another Senator and former Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, by a Plateau State High Court on Tuesday

PoliticsBuhari Earned Title To Be Called Major General, Says Adesina by kutashi(op): 2:07pm On Dec 11, 2019
Femi Adesina, the media assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari has made a quick reaction to Wednesday’s Editorial of the Punch Newspaper.

Adesina, however, defended the President in his brief tweet, stating that military title was earned and the insinuation made by Punch is “not completely out of order.”

“If you decide to call him Major General, he wasn’t dashed the rank, he earned it. So, you are not completely out of order. The fact that you can do so is even another testimony to press freedom in Nigeria,”, he wrote Wednesday morning.

President Buhari had previously ruled as the nation’s head of state from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985, although he has since claimed to be a reformed democrat after he emerged Nigeria’s democratic head

PoliticsWhy Buhari Removed Banire As AMCON Chairman by kutashi(op): 6:22am On Dec 11, 2019
Facts have emerged on why the former National Legal Officer of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Muiz Banire, was removed as the Chairman of the Board of Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Our correspondent gathered that the AMCON Act, signed by President Buhari, stipulated that a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria must be the chairman of AMCON.
The amended AMCON Act provides for a chairman who shall be a deputy governor in the CBN to be nominated by the apex bank.
The newly appointed AMCON Chairman is the Deputy Governor of the CBN, Edward L. Adamu.
He is in charge of the Corporate Services Directorate.
Buhari signed the AMCON Amendment Bill into law on August 7, 2019 although the amendment was done by the eight Senate under the leadership of Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
Under the new law, AMCON now has powers to place any bank account or any other account comparable to a bank account of a debtor of an eligible financial institution under surveillance, obtain access to any computer system component, electronic or mechanical device of any debtor with a view to establishing the location of funds belonging to the debtor.
It also empowers AMCON to obtain information in respect of any private account together with all bank financial and commercial records of any debtor of any eligible financial institution, banking secrecy, and the protection of customer confidentiality is not a ground for the denial of the power of the Corporation under this section.

PoliticsCorruption: Only Christians Are Being Convicted, Says Fani-kayode by kutashi(op): 7:29am On Dec 10, 2019
A former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, claimed on Monday that all former governors and key public office holders that had been convicted of corruption since Muhammadu Buhari took over power were Christians.

The former minister noted that from Jolly Nyame to Joshua Dariye, Bala Ngilari and Orji Kalu, Buhari’s administration only convicted Christians.

Is it only Christians that steal, he asked.

On Thursday, December 5, 2019, the Federal High Court in Lagos convicted a former governor of Abia State, Orji Kalu, of N7.1bn fraud and sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment.

The judgment, delivered by Justice Mohammed Idris, came 12 years after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission filed fraud charges against Kalu in 2007.

He recalled that on May 30, 2018, the Federal Capital Territory High Court sentenced a former governor of Taraba State, Mr Jolly Nyame, to 14 years in prison, without an option of fine.

The court convicted the former governor for criminal breach of trust in a case of N1.64bn fraud preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The judge blamed Nyame for financial recklessness and brazen display of executive power without following due process.

On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, Joshua Dariye was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gudu, Abuja. Dariye was charged with criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of funds (N1.6bn) while he was the governor of Plateau State.

Dariye, who was the governor of Plateau State from 1999 to 2007, was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and convicted by Justice Adebukola Banjoko of the FCT High Court for embezzling public fund.

Travel10 Easiest Countries To Migrate To From Nigeria by kutashi(op): 12:20pm On Dec 07, 2019
Here is a list of 10 best country to migrate to from Nigeria:

#1: Canada
Canada! It’s one of the friendliest countries on earth. And while you might not think of Canada as beachy, it actually has the longest coastline in the world at 202,080 km. Canada has compassionately opened its borders to refugees from war-torn nations. However, even if you are not in fear for your life, you will have to show some professional skills. It is by far one of the easiest countries to migrate to from Nigeria.

#2: Mexico
If you’re fussy about the deadly drug trade, you may be tempted to skip over Mexico as an option. But there are still places in Mexico that are safe, and not only that, they are full of clean beaches, mountain views, cute historic towns, and upscale urban delights. Plus, it is the country that introduced chocolate, chilies, and corn to the world.

Get started in Mexico quickly with an FMM visa, available at any airport or border location for just $21. When your visa expires in six months, you can renew it again, and again, and again. There’s no limit. Unfortunately, you can’t work on an FMM visa, but you can upgrade to a temporary residency visa that does allow work for only a few bucks more. You may need to leave the country temporarily to apply for one, though.

#3: Austria
Austria is a gorgeous little country that offers plenty of mountain fun in the form of the snow-capped Alps, which actually cover 62% of the country. Its location is ideal for exploration of many other European countries, as well. The lifestyle in Austria is sometimes described as a “perpetual resort”.

#4: Belgium
If you love the idea of enjoying limitless beer and chocolate in a cozy little country dotted with gorgeous architecture and breathtaking natural beauty, consider Belgium. It is also a very progressive country; the second in the world to legalize gay marriage (after the Netherlands).

You will need a job to be granted a permanent residency visa, but you can apply from home. Once you land a job, you only need to hold onto it for two weeks before becoming eligible for a residency permit. That’s not an offer to stay forever just yet, but as long as you keep working, you are moving toward it.

#5: Ecuador
Ecuador has virtually unmatched natural beauty in the form of mountain peaks, volcanoes, beaches, and islands. It is named after the equator, which runs through it, and is the only country in the world named after a geographical feature. The cost of living in Ecuador is very low, and the US dollar is the official currency.

The easiest way to get permanent residence in Ecuador is called a pensioner’s visa. Though designed for retirees, there aren’t actually any age requirements to get one. You just need to prove that you will receive $800 per month for the length of your stay, no matter how long that is. Is it not kind of mind-boggling to think about living comfortably on that amount of money?

#6: Nicaragua
Forget what you think you know about Nicaragua and see that it is a stunningly beautiful country with two pristine coastlines and passionate, caring people. It’s also great for stargazers – 86 out of 88 constellations in the night sky can be seen clearly in Nicaragua.

If you’re intrigued, Nicaragua offers a retirement program similar to Ecuador’s, except that you only need to show an income of $600 a month. The program is meant for people at least 45 years old, but this requirement is often waived if you have more than the base income.

And guess what? You don’t actually need to be retired to qualify. The government of Nicaragua has a lot of flexibility in what it calls work. For example, you could own a restaurant or small hotel and still be classified as retired. You can also continue to freelance for an overseas company and legitimately get the retirement visa.

#7: Belize
If you want to spend your days on the beach, definitely take a look at Belize. The average temperature is 84F (29C), so you can have as many beach days as you want. Located between Mexico and Guatemala, Belize is a small country with a population that harmoniously represents no less than eight different cultures. It is also an English-speaking country with a very low cost of living.

Getting to Belize is pretty easy. You can enter on a 30-day visitor visa and simply keep renewing it every month until you’ve lived there for 50 weeks. At that point, a $1,000 fee and a few bureaucratic hurdles will get you permanent residency.

If that sounds like a doable plan of attack, you may want to engage a lawyer in Belize right away to keep you informed of any fine print. Some districts do require you to leave the country for two weeks every six months, which resets the clock on the 50-week requirement. And if you need to work while you await permanent residency, you could use some help to secure a work permit.

#8: Costa Rica
Costa Rica is very attractive to migration-seekers due to its peaceful and easy-going residents. Pacifists will appreciate the fact that it doesn’t even have a national army. But don’t forget the 801 miles of stunning coastline and world-class healthcare, too. Nature lovers will appreciate the 52 species of hummingbirds.

The cost of living in Costa Rica is not too high. Couples will need about $2,500 per month to live comfortably. If you’re looking to retire, Costa Rica has a retiree program that you’ll qualify for if you can show $1,000 per month in income. Most folks will need a job in order to achieve permanent residency, but if you have skills that Costa Rica needs, things as simple as teaching English or entertaining tourists, the dream could be in reach.

#9: Paraguay
If you dream of disappearing off the face of the earth, Paraguay might be the place for you. Not many people know anything about it, despite being bordered by Argentina and Brazil. Chances are high that Paraguayans know about you, though. The country has a literacy rate higher than the United States. It’s a beautiful place with friendly people, vast scenic vistas, and low cost of living.

Since it is so obscure, the demand for immigration is low and the bar for acceptance is, too. You will be required to deposit an amount of money into a Paraguayan bank that equals roughly 35x the monthly minimum wage. It sounds like a lot, but it comes out to only about $4,500-$5,500 USD. That’s all it takes to live in Paraguay indefinitely, and after three years you can apply for citizenship.

#10: Panama
Panama is an independent nation in Central America with a beachy landscape and a lot of English speakers. (The US dollar is its currency.) Some of the best coffee in the world is grown there. It’s a country that is considered safe and well developed, which also makes it pretty attractive to retirees.

Panama’s retiree visa requires a monthly income of $1,000. If you’re not old enough to retire, a $5,000 deposit in a Panamanian bank gets you in the door for permanent residency. If you happen to hail from one of 50 countries that are friendly to Panama, a few of which are the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Austria, you are eligible for a Friendly Nations visa. However, you will eventually need a job to become a citizen.

Ready to go? The bar for permanent residency in any of these countries is set pretty low, so with some planning and maybe a bit of saving, you could be drinking beer in Belgium or sipping cocktails on the beach in Costa Rica before you know it.

PoliticsHow Sex Fuels Boko Haram Insurgency By Yusuf Abubakar Mahmud by kutashi(op): 5:05am On Dec 03, 2019
How Sex Fuels Boko Haram Insurgency — Dr. Mamud

—Advises FG to regulate public preaching by Clerics

FREE sex has been attributed as one of the key factors swelling the ranks of Boko Haram fighters, a researcher and Deputy Director at the National Defence College, NDC, Abuja, Dr Yusuf Abubakar Mahmud has said.

Dr Mamud also alleged that some religious preachers have contributed to violent extremism exhibited by the Boko Haram members through the indoctrination of the followers and false preaching and therefore advised the Federal Government to consider regulating public preaching by religious clerics.

He noted that the traditional way of using the military might in tackling violent extremism by the insurgents had not recorded much success and advised that the Federal Government should involve the families and religious leaders in tackling the menace of violent extremism in the country.

Speaking at the weekend in Abuja ahead of the twin book launch, ‘In God’s Name We Fight: Embracing and Renouncing Violent Extremism’ expected to be launched this week, alongside another book titled ‘Turning Forty’, Dr. Mamud, who has been a researcher at the NDC for about 20 years, said his lengthy studies and experience prove that the family unit is key to tackling the ignorance which fuels extremism.

He argued that engaging the family and religious leaders by government, security agencies and other stakeholders could serve as a panacea in ending the scourge of violent extremism like Boko Haram as being experienced in Nigeria.

Mamud was of the opinion that a softer approach to preventing and countering extremism and terrorism, can be implemented successfully using the family and religious leaders, without forgoing the military offensive and counter attacks.

Although he said that the hard military power approach was relevant, there was the need to identify individual family groups and religious groups to ask pertinent questions that have to do with the solutions.

According to him, “Sex is a major factor that drives insurgents and that is why girls secondary school has become their targets. Any time military overruns the camps of the insurgents, you find out packets of condoms and enhancing drugs.”

Continuing, he said, “The import of this story is that, when you want to counter violent extremism, we must adopt a different approach and that approach is that, we must start from the family unit and members of the religious group in that society. The take here is that every member of Boko Haram today that is existing, came from a family, they did not drop from the sky.

“And if indeed they actually came from a family and we try to engage the family, we will be able to understand some of the background issues that pushed that person into that behaviour and with that, we will be able to develop an evidence-based response on how we can make such person renounce such behaviour.

“What I am trying to say here is that the family is key in countering violent extremism. Secondly, members of the religious group or people we call influencers in the society are also central when we are talking about countering violent extremism.

“My advice to government is that, if we must move forward in this, yes it as much as I believe that the hard power approach is still very relevant but when we have been able to contain escalation of violence, we should now try to identify the various individual families and members of the religious group, sit with them and ask them very pertinent questions on the way forward and not we bringing solutions and given to them, those solutions cannot give what they want.

“We should ask them what do you think we should do to solve this problem and not we constituting threats to those societies.

“Ignorance is basically the driver of violent extremism. Most of those that get into this is totally ignorant of what they are saying they are pursuing.

“Another key important issue is government security forces. I am not saying that they are not doing well, but I am saying that they need some new form of training. If possible, the military institution will start having a robust curriculum in preventing and countering violent extremism so that they should be able to understand the dynamics and the drivers and some of the issues they have to put in front in the cause of trying to counter violent extremism.”

Dr Mamud, who also advised that public preaching by clerics needs to be regulated and closely monitored by government and security agencies, further called for a rejig of the curriculum of the military institutions and training to factor in family intervention and other relevant social indices.

He said, “And the last one which we cannot totally stop is the area of bad influence. My advice to the Government is that we are getting to a point where the government has to start looking at regulating public preaching because.”
