They teach French, Spanish, German etc -all foreign languages- in our tert. institutions. Pidgin has come to stay in naija and almost everybody "flows" in it, from top govt official's (remember OBJ's I DEY KAMPE?) to the 2yrs old kid in Warri. In lagos, there are even radio stations (Wazobia 95.1 and Naija 102.7fm) that are predominantly pidgin based. Is it not high time they taught pidgin English in our schools? |
