TV/Movies / Re: Game Of Thrones Discussion (Beware Of Spoilers) by LadyWinona: 7:07pm On Apr 03, 2013
I had just watched the S3E1 again but this time with subtitles. The saddest moment was when Tyrion's dad said the meanest words one could ever tell a child, I almost cried there. I also missed arya, the sharp witted girl.
The boy king was as annoying as ever no doubt with his ever scheming but oh-so-beautiful mom always around just bidding her time. Something tells me she hates her son as much as everyone else.
My new favorite character will go to the boy king's new bride. I don't knw her name but I'm confident her scheming ways has just begun and will be unrivaled. Afterall, she wants to be THE QUEEN! If she is half as devious as her role in the hit series Tudors, as the other Bolyen girl, then the Lannister family is literally doomed.
Music/Radio / Re: Ghanaians Mad At Chris Brown For Calling Azonto A Nigerian Dance by LadyWinona: 3:58pm On Apr 03, 2013
As much as I believe that there is an injustice somewhere, let's not lose sight of the fact that there exists some sort of symbiotic relationship between the two countries. Afterall, we made their actors and actresses popular via nollywood and our media outlets, we give them oil etc. I really don't understand all the animosity. By the way, this is Chris Brown we are talking about here, not Barack Obama, the one man who almost killed a woman while under the influence of drugs. Who gives a crap what he thinks? Let's get our priorities straightened out.

Health / Re: Facts About Colorectal Cancer by LadyWinona: 6:46am On Mar 14, 2013
Hmmm, during my elective posting in USA, most of my adult patients had colorectal cancer. As a newbie, my job was to perform a guaiac test on their stools which essentially means checking for blood in stool as one of the diagnostic tools. It was rather fun. Again, one of the lines of management was that these patients were adviced to maintain a diet high in fiber. The consultant had gone on to explain that why the disease is rare in Africans is because of the high fiber content in our foods eg garri etc as compared to their diet that is largely made up of refined food products low in fiber aka junk food etc. The food companies in response are now increasing as well as adding fiber content in their biscuits, and other food products to keep up d health trend . Can it be d same as our natural food? I really doubt it.
Needless to say, I took home something that day which is to eat as much garri as I can even though I can barely stand the meal, since after all it's my prophylaxis against this dreadful disease.
Celebrities / Re: Rita Dominic's Style At The AMVCA 2013. Hot Or Not? by LadyWinona: 9:34pm On Mar 10, 2013
Her makeup is flawless but the dress looks cheap and made by a not-too-good tailor. I don't care what fashion house that dress was born in, all I know is dt it was poorly made. Yeah, b4 I forget, the Aladdin headcover needs to go as well.

peclint:

I can understand the guys plight, he doesn't have to want anything from a girl to be friends.
He just feels pained that she now sees him as someone with a lesser social status than her.
If I got the poster correctly, he would have wanted to still be close friends with her whether she has no cash or if she earned a million bucks a month.

if that were the case, then why is he asking her job-related questions? Why on earth is he making her job that he helped her find, the fulcrum of their supposed relationship? What did he expect the poor girl to think when all she hears when they interact almost always in one way or other gets back to her job? I am deliberately repeating myself cos the op has come up here reporting on how d girl is no longer talking to him DESPITE finding her a job and yet claiming that he doesn't want anything in return. For all we know, there might be some other reasons dt the op is not telling us but that doesn't mean a thing, after all how dare she not be grateful she has a job that pays her almost N100,000. Jeez! For an update, last I checked, 2face left Kennis music, Dbanj left Don Jazzy and Wizkid left Banky W, all men who in more ways than one helped them thrive n they respectively re doing very well themselves. Now, tell me y this girl's case be any diff?

I'd rather die single than having some1 like u as a friend (not to talk of wife). And to think that a man out there is waving ur flag round town as his gf/wife (SMH. I feel for that man) cry How I wish men could see how DARK their so called gf/wives heart is.

Pls, give Iynpetra a break and try and see her point of view. I have been helped by men before and like she rightly stated, somehow, these men expect you to give them more attention or what have you. This is usually ok at first, as you are ever so grateful for the help but there comes a time when you feel harassed, almost like putting up an act of gratitude when all you really want to do is to roll ur eyes and scream. It gets worse when some abuse you expecting you to endure it just cos you have been given a gift or helped. You might not understand since you are a guy but imagine an elderly woman helping you out to get a job and then calling you some weeks later to find out how u re faring in ur new work place, how much you are paid and when the next salary wil be due etc. Be honest, won't u feel a tiny bit uncomfortable and dare I say it, harassed?

I'm going to give the op a benefit of doubt and believe him when he says that he doesn't expect anything in return but then isn't he contradicting himself here? Clearly, he wants something no matter how little and by dt I mean the op expecting the girl to be grateful at all times, not necessarily cos the girl likes him or anything but simply because he got her a job. Do u have any idea how frustrating that must be for the girl? To always be in perpetual gratitude even when she doesn't feel up to it? Pls, let's cut the girl some slack. To be a bigger person here, pls, stop calling her, let her be and come to you instead. That way, you are sure the relationship is reciprocal and not based on your attention or whims alone. I see no other way to have a relationship. FYI, the reason this can never happen to a fellow guy is simple. You will never find the compulsion to call or 'ask' after him or his job n pay etc like u re doing to this poor girl, and what's more, won't come here to complain about it. It's really a different world we girls live in. SMH

When death happens, you don't get a say!...and hear this, IT WILL HAPPEN to everyone at some point.

You don't like it? sue God!
I don't know about you but I think they are right to ask 'what is happening?!'. Infact, I'm asking it now, What the hell is happening to all our seasoned actors?! Also, I've noticed that most people re here re interested in buying either jewellery, phones n accessories and human hair to sell to the public.
C'mon people, THINK outside the box!!!
Like I had said earlier, I'm terrified to venture into this n frankly with my family n career in tow, I think I have enough on my plate for now but for those willing to do this, why don't u target the working mothers who are interested in having nice and pretty appliances in their homes. Trust me, there is a huge market clientele right there.
For instance, in alibaba, there re cute can openers at ridiculously cheap prices, cake mixers, cute hair brushes, clocks etc dt are unique that I'm pretty sure the ladies will love to have such pretty things in their kitchens n homes.
Oh well, I've said my piece. Incase anyone brings the above listed into nigeria, pls send me a mail cos I'm interested in the electric can opener, cake mixer and hair brush.
Thank you

Guys, I had phoned the manager who is in charge of sales from Nigeria. His name is swill with phone number 08034006668 and he said dt the goods usually come in earlier than the time stipulated in the site. You can call him to confirm too. Apparently, they have offices in lagos, abuja, osun and benin.

If u think of the massive gain that will be earned alone on transportation, then I say it's worth the time. Again, I want a strong competitor to contend with chrisvicmall so dt his prices can come down a bit since I still insist that it is a bit on the high side.

Okay, I've been following this thread quietly for some time now but for some reason I've been unable to find the courage to import something. First of all, I think chrisvicmall charges are way too exorbitant that at the end of the day, I'm barely making any profit but that's not why I'm here.
I'm here to contribute to this thread and pass on some info that I saw yesterday that can help anyone import goods at almost 1/10th of the price that chrisvicmall is charging.
I was reading Lindaikeji's blog yesterday and one of her articles was on a set up like chrisvicmall that aids people in importing their goods just like chrisvicmall but at ridiculously cheap prices. This setup is MICOSTAR MALL.COM and they charge $3.40 per pound (I.e 2.2kg) from usa to lagos and then an additional 0.99 per pound if ur place of residence is another state other than Lagos. They will help parties interested in purchasing items from major online shops in usa and asia including alibaba.com. U wld agree with me that it is much cheaper than chrisvicmall that charges $13 per kg plus an additional $10 for aiding in the transaction and deals only in one or two china based sites.
I am using this opportunity to tell the house this info cos I want to know if this micostarmall.com can be trusted cos if they are, then I'll say that they are the next best thing to happen to young people hoping to improve their lives.

Thank u

ebamma: u no shut up dia, wetin ashawo money fit buy for pesin were be nba player
On the contrary, adaora4u is right. Noone knew who kris was till he joined d kardashian clan. That show brought him to the limelight n paid him for participating in the show.
Now, here is the best part, the last time I checked, Kris is a full grown man (although that remains to be seen by his action n utter lack of self respect), he wasn't forced n dragged to marry kim, heck, he signed on to the whole package probably thinking himself indispensable, a gift to kim so to speak, as inexperienced men often think themselves to be until his a** was kicked to the curb. I would have supported him if I hadn't watched snippets of the show with him on it where he was just been unnecessarily rude to kim. I don't care what she might have done in the past or present, all I know is that no woman deserves be treated like that.
And like the vengeful t*wat that he is, he thought that he could use the divorce n the media to hurt kim and her franchise. I guess that lasted the whole of 5 mins since the woman is waxing ever strong in her notoriety and taking it up a notch by getting pregnant for another man while still being technically married.
Forgive my language but I don't know what says, 'I don't give a f*** more than that.

val_dubem: Bob manuel is a proud and arrogant fellow. I Hate Him and so do all anambrarians
You know, ur statement reminded me of an incident that had happened when I was a kid. My family had stopped at a filling station and there was Bob Manuel too buying some fuel for his car. My sibs and I were so excited on seeing him but dt excitement suddenly changed to disgust when he gave a cold shoulder to a random girl who had walked up to him all so ecstatic at seeing a popular movie actor. He had just acted like she wasn't even there, so impolite. My perception of him rather fell from its pedestal after dt incident. As an adult now, thinking back, it's possible that he was in a bad place hence his cold reaction to that fan or perhaps he didn't understand the power that fans have to bring down an artist if they so wish just by using the internt alone n other media, but whatever d reason might ve been, I had expected him to have been more mature in his response like a gentleman should have.

CHRISTOPH WALTZ
Grrr, OK. But you're pushing it,
DiCaprio!
(gives LEO a root canal)
Now we're leaving ...
LEONARDO DICAPRIO
Wait! There is one very last thing you
must do before you can go, Christoph! I
insist that you ... SHAKE MY HAND!
CHRISTOPH WALTZ
(pause)
Oh. Now I pretty much have to kill you.
CHRISTOPH shoots LEO. SAMUEL
mourns, HILARIOUSLY.
JAMIE FOXX
The Bleep, Christoph?! All you had to do
was shake his damn hand and we were
out of here!
CHRISTOPH WALTZ
But I had to do it, Jamie! We Germans
cannot tolerate letting a power-hungry
dictator like that oppress, torture, and
murder a defenseless minority! Well, at
least not for another 80 years or so!
JAMES REMAR shoots CHRISTOPH with
a ROCKET LAUNCHER, killing him.
JAMIE FOXX
Aw hell naw!
(shoots JAMES)
JAMES REMAR
Goddammit.
(dies, again)
JAMIE SHOOTS THE LIVING Bleep out of
EVERYTHING. A BILLION GALLONS of
RED BLOOD spurt all over the WHITE
WALLS. We're talking FULL-ON
GALLAGHER here.

JAMIE FOXX
Damn. So close.
LEONARDO DICAPRIO
Now, I could just kill you and Christoph
and steal your money ... or legally sell
Kerry to you for 12,000 bucks.
THIS HAPPENS.
The AUDIENCE is treated to some real
edge-of-your-seat RECEIPT MAKING.
CHRISTOPH WALTZ
Hmm. I guess we managed to avoid a
gratuitously violent climax after all.
Time for Jamie, Kerry, and I to be going
now-
LEONARDO DICAPRIO
Wait, Christoph! In order for this deal to
be fully legal, you must ... jump rope
with me!
CHRISTOPH WALTZ
What? That's an odd request, but OK.
(jumps rope with LEO)
Now we'll be getting out of here-
LEONARDO DICAPRIO
Not so fast! For the deal to be official,
you must also ... give me a root canal!
And I don't have insurance, so you must
do it pro bono!

TV/Movies / Re: If 'django' Was 10 Times Shorter and 100 Times More Honest by LadyWinona: 11:55am On Jan 18, 2013
CHRISTOPH WALTZ
Why are you yelling your lines all of a
sudden?
LEONARDO DICAPRIO
IT'S CALLED ACTING, CHRISTOPH.
HAVEN'T YOU NOTICED? IT'S KIND OF
MY THING ...
(realizing)
Holy shit, why is my hand bleeding? Is
my blood trying to escape my body in
protest of my blatant Oscar baiting?
CHRISTOPH WALTZ
I think you cut your hand on some
glass. Like for real.
LEONARDO DICAPRIO
Are you sure? You'd think Tarantino
could have communicated that to the
audience a little better with a close-up.
JAMIE FOXX
Maybe if you were a chick and it was
your foot you cut.
CHRISTOPH WALTZ
Speaking of which, aside from the
jarring musical choices, nearly all of
Tarantino's signature trademarks are
missing from this film.
JAMIE FOXX
You're right. We're two hours in and
Tarantino hasn't bukkaked the audience
with a single monologue that drones on
for 10 minutes ...
LEONARDO DICAPRIO
(pulling out a human skull)
Time for me to explain why black
people are inferior to white people
because of some pseudoscience bullshit
about skull dimples that only morons
would believe.
