allycat: I practise that crappy bollocks .That's why if I prescribe a drug to be given twice a day , I don't write twice a day I write b.i.d. , that's why duration of drugs is written as fractions eg 4/7 for 4 days or 1/12 for one month. Having actually lectured medical students and post graduate students I don't just do these things. I have to know why I do them in order to explain to my students why they need to learn to do those things. Am I making any sense. Same reason many medical terminologies use the Latin roots e.g. ology, otomy, ectomy this is done so any medical person who speaks any language with a Latin root can understand these terminologies. Oh, now I understand what you are saying sir..... I am a junior colleague..... I thought you meant that the "handwriting" was deliberately taught to us, I didn't know you were referring to the abbreviations.... I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.... |

allycat: Doctors are taught a form of medical shorthand that is meant for pharmacist to decipher, they are also taught the short hand in school. One major reason is so that a prescription written by an English doctor can be interpreted by a French or Germany or Spanish medical person. Now where did u that load of crappy bollocks from ? |

Okay okay, please everybody lets calm down here......
Doctors are important, but so also are nurses, lab scientists, radiographers, pharmacists and physiotherapists.....
We all have a role to play in making the life of the patient better....
The health system in Nigeria has been abused, bastardized and in a state of horrendous grandeur delusion....
But we can still make things right.....
So please, let this issue die down....
Thank you all, especially my Oga cfame1 |

joey150: doc pls quick question. I have this muscle twitches that happen randomly. With no pain or percieved weakness..it happens mostly when am at rest and i dont notice it if am active or in motion. Any suggestions? Thanks! on which muscle groups do they occur.... Sometimes muscles could twitch occasionally due to the nerve end-plates being polarised, butbifnthey become too frequent, it may have to be looked into.... Since I can't fully review you here, you may have to physically see a doctor to test your neurological function.... Thanks |

nwabuwa: Pls Dr. lagusta I woke up this morning to notice that my left heart is beating faster and noticeable too. Though it didn't stop me from doing morning shores and going to work. Confided in a co-worker she advised I take vasoprin.. Don't really know what to do. I did urinate frequently yesterday, though it may be because of water intake. Should I take the vasoprin or go for BP test which she also suggested.. Am 30yrs old. Thanks for ur time. You have only one heart sir, even if it's displaced to the left..... Like how many times did urinate, did u have an alcoholic drink or fizzy drink?? The heart beating fast could be caused by alot of stuff. Have you been noticing it before or it just happened yesterday?? Don't use the vasoprin yet, see a cardiologist.... Check your BP, and if it's abnormal, then do an ECG with it.... Thanks.... |
