Drdonzeez: And who cares!Did he study pharmacy, Dentistry et al.I hold no qualm with Dr.Lagausta.he's a role model. Chaaai, my head dey swell!!! Anyway, pharmacists do courses, and if they have an F in it, they just carry it over.... But in medicine, we do subjects, not courses, and if we fail one of the subjects, and fail again after resit, we REPEAT the class, and remember the pass mark is 50% and not 40%.... Dentistry is as tough as medicine, they are doctors too.... |

INTERMAN: shey medicine is toofu gan ni?? You see, most people don't realize how medicine and surgery is until they experience it themselves.... My colleague mowah has told u just the academics that go with it, he didn't tell you anything about the responsibilities that flow with it.... Do you want to talk about the lectures (from 8am-6pm everyday, no break, sometimes some profs can hold lectures at 10pm, and you won't say crap) the practicals (during preclinical) and the ward rounds/clinics (during clinical).... What of the crazy exams, answering 800 objective questions in 3hrs, then coming back that same day to answer all 17essay questions..... Even before that, you write exams nearly every month..... During ward rounds, you are abused, castigated, told that you can never make it in life, you can never be a doctor, in front of your patient.... Medicine, to me, is the toughest course ever, then we could mention others later |

That MDCN office in Abuja needs a total overhaul....
Those so-called staff are just useless, worthless and pointless....
Especially those at the front desk, those goons are criminals....
If you want a tip, you have to earn it, not to force it out of our pockets.....
Imagine those front-desk goons, when u apply for full registration, you submit your credentials, they tell your to come back in three months, after that they would hide your foilo, then tell you stories like "the machine isn't working" or "the registrar is not around" or one would stupidly ask "did you really apply??"
Imagine all that!!!
We all swore the oath to be our brothers and sisters, but the oath is already broken from there....
Even the office in lagos tells the same tale.....
In fact, its only God that can save us |

Diabetes would be very unlikely here, the differential is at the bottom of the ladder.... I would suggest you see a urologist for expert management..... I would strongly advice you go to a teaching hospital where you would repeat the genotype test, and if possible, yours too and that of the father.....
I'm not surprised if there was a mix-up with the tests done before, concerning our so-called laboratories....
SCD could be a nightmare at times, and the thing is, it doesn't usually manifest until when the child is about 1yr or thereabout, and that is because babies have abundant fetal hemoglobin (HbF) which clears off when the baby is 6mths-1yr....
So in summary, go to a teaching hospital to redo the tests, then we take it from there.....
Stay strong |

Career › Re: Why Are Nurses Treated Unfairly In The Health Sector? by Lagusta(m): 10:06am On Feb 08, 2016 |
TheArchangel: Firstly, the Commonwealth and European countries still using MBBS should modify it to suit the current trend. Secondly, doctor of medicine is awarded as a postgraduate degree but it is not equivalent persay, but some universities has MD/PhD's programs which are the equivalent of PhD. Thirdly, you haven't been following the new trend. THE CHEWS are springing up strong and hard now. Google the NYSC mobilisations and colleges involved it will boggle your mind.
Oh sure, the same way nursing and midwifery are separate entities. From Wikipedia The Doctorate of Medicine and of Philosophy (MD–PhD) is a dual doctoral degree for physician–scientists. The degree is granted by medical schools often through the Medical Scientist Training Program or other non-MSTP MD-PhD programs. The National Institutes of Health currently provides 43 medical schools with Medical Scientist Training Program grants that support the training of students in MD–PhD programs at these institutions through tuition and stipend allowances.[1] These programs are often competitive, with some admitting as few as two students per academic year.[2] Training structure Edit
Pre-doctoral Edit Upon matriculating in an MD–PhD program, students will often follow a 2-PhD-2 plan. In this system, students will complete the pre-clinical curriculum of their medical school (2 years), transition into PhD graduate training (3–5 years), and then finally complete clinical rotations (2 years). By contrast, students in the Medical Scholars Program at the University of Illinois at Chicago are generally required to complete all the requirements of a regular doctoral student before advancing to the second year medical school curriculum.
Post-doctoral Edit Upon receiving the MD–PhD dual degree, physician-scientists may choose a variety of career paths. The most common continues to be residency training with additional laboratory training. However, a physician–scientist may also elect to refuse residency training, thereby having a career essentially akin to a conventional PhD scientist. A physician–scientist may also elect to work in the private sector with no further formal academic clinical nor research training.Research physicians Edit
Even though the MD and DO are first professional degrees and not doctorates of research (i.e., a PhD), many holders of the MD or DO degree conduct clinical and basic scientific research and publish in peer-reviewed journals during training and after graduation; an academic physician whose work emphasizes basic research is called a physician-scientist. Combined medical and research training is offered through programs granting MD-PhD or DO-PhD degrees. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) through its Medical Scientist Training Program funds MD-PhD training programs at many universities. Some MDs and DOs choose a research career and receive funding from the NIH as well as other sources such as the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. A few even go on to become Nobel Laureates.[12] The United States Department of Education and the National Science Foundation do not include the M.D. or other professional doctorates among the degrees that are equivalent to research doctorates.[13][14]
In UK, it is different as the MD degrees is a postgraduate degree that is equivalent to PhD after first obtaining the MBBS.. Below is a screenshot from university of Kent. Nice one dear, keep it up.... Nice to have intelligent nurses here, wish all nurses are like u |

TheArchangel: Yeah.. The course curriculum after being scrutinized by ministry of educatin deemed it an HND qualification for employment purposes.
You sound surprised. What say thou on the MBBS ( dual degree) you graduate with after 6 years while others escape with only a degree after 5 years. Most things doesn't makes sense when analysed superficially, unless an in depth assessment is undertaken. Even chews comes out with HND after three years of study even are mobilised for NYSC, why would nurses own be surprising The MBBS degree is quite archaic.... In the USA, you first get a degree before entering medical school, where you are awarded DOCTOR OF MEDICINE (MD) which, as we all know, is equivalent to a PhD..... And I haven't seen a CHEW being mobilized for NYSC, I also find that hard to believe..... Moreover, medicine and surgery are two separate entities, even if they both deal with diagnosing and treating diseases; there is no surgical cure for hypertension, as there is no medical cure for a hernia.... So what say you..... |

Sir.....
First and foremost, lets all bury this JOHESU thingy, its all gone and dead....
Now, the problem is, health sector in Nigeria is in shambles, from the problems associated with primary health care to the issues pertaining the administrative cadre.....
Imagine someone that spent three years in nursing school, being equal to someone that spent 5yrs in the university, with one extra year as a corps member.....
But at the same time, graduate nurses should never feel inferior, they are also important in the process of patient recuperation......
For instance, without nurses, a doctor would never know when a patient suddenly developed pyrexia, or noticed a change in the color of urine....
A nurse must be closer to the patient than the doctor.....
I am a doc, so I know what I am saying |
