The stereotype that had been attached to the profession "Nursing" is deadly. Some of you here never had an encounter with a nurse before but the assumption and rumors you've had about nurses is what you keep spreading. E.g Nigeria beat India 1-100, the ball was tuning to lion etc.
Same way most of you have not experienced a professional nurse, it's only those secondary sch girl that you see in white and u think they are nurses.

If you're at the festival, you'll know how sport politics works. The very way Edo bought their way into the gold medal table. My chief once told me she had thyroidectomy and after the surgery she kept feeling sick and d surgery was done by a consultant. She doesn't want to use her hospital cos of guest and staff coming to her after surgery.
Damn after 2 years it was discovered that a guauze was forgotten in her neck, she felt embarrassed as a perioperative nurse that such happened to her. She has been in lot on surgery and always make sure silly mistakes doesn't happen during her call and why must it be her.
And she specifically requested for a consultant so that mistake wouldn't happened but ....

Thank God for life. She doesnt like sharing this cos of her position. It took her time before she can come out

Lautech offers odl, the sacrifice is much. You spend more. I'm a student of nursing science under lodlc. The program gives us more chance to get over degree faster. The havoc sch of nursing has caused us is what we are facing now. Most of the students are older adult. We run 3 semester in a year making the program faster , 2 week for exam and face-2-face facilitation. Everyday online class on the lms.

Most of y'all dont know jack about the health care protocol. Your run to the Hosp when youre sick and complain the nurse didnt attend to you.

1. the nurse is to screen you and the Dr is to clerk you. Most of you won't face the Dr that refuse to see you cos (s)he is on round , busy with another client or resting. You won't attack your Dr for not attending to you on time but see your nurses as evil.

2. A child had been sick for days after your trial and error in your house , youll now rush the sick child to the Hosp crying emergency, calm your nerves. No one will run cos of you. You can't run in ans expect everyone to run also. Thats why youre in the Hosp.

3. Hosp works with triage system. Sometimes its not as you come into the hospital but how severe your case is. Most of y'all won't visit govt Hosp where you can get good medical practitioner due to reasons best know to you , irrespective most of the private Hosp you visit are managed by quacks.

4. Dont expect to come to the Hosp with a test from another laboratory outside the Hosp and expect them to use the test to treat you. If you already know the test to run , then you should know the drug to use.

5. Many at times will google their diagnoses diagnosis before coming in.to the Hosp and expect to know better than someone who had spent 5-7 yrs in sch in just one hour. Okay

6. Many will come to the Hosp with the aim of fighting the nurse because they believe the nurse is nobody but will see the Dr as the god dey came to worship.

7. In govt Hosp, know that if you're taking your child to see a Dr for complaint that are relative to minor illness .
You should go by 7am-3pm cos that's when ckinc opens
From 4 or 5pm its called call hour. Only emergencies that will be attended to.


Your nurse or drs are not super humans too. Be nice to them

Well, won't blame many here most of y'all are educated illiterate. Have you ever checked data and statistical records of maternal and infant mortality rate from a decade ago? Then you'll appreciate your medical teams more.
2 days ago, a lady (21yrs) came into my ER with generalized swelling , 34weeks pregnant, BP = 180/120mmHg, in respiratory distress (wheezing) , and coughing out blood
Had been in a church for over 4 days doing irapada when she fainted , then she as rushed into the ER.

Dear friends , can such lady birth the baby herself?

2. Some women do have a male pelvis , ànd study proved that male's pelvis are not designed for birthing
Pls what do you recommend.

3. A woman who.has been in labour for over 8hrs with no further cervical progressions and she's in serious pain, fetal heart rate is increasing , sir/ma would you want to risk not going under the knife?

4. Study proved that women of over 40yrs are at high risk of after birth bleeding , CS should be considered in such age group. Would you want your wife to bleed to death?

5. Malpresentation of babies or overweight babies , pls what do you suggest.

An experienced Dr knows immediately wen to carry out a CS or not .
CS is not a death sentence , it is to help both mother and child.
Some mothers prefer CS to normal vagina delivery.



NB A govt Hosp Dr doesn't gain anything for doing a million CS a day , it doesn't add to his pay at the end of the month.

Private Hosp are the scam this country, most of them are either quacks or ill trained .
They use quacks as nurses (auxiliaries) and hire drs to perform the surgeries

That's not how most Hosp works , you work with triage and even most GOPD adopts triage.
Most severe to less severe .

Let me make a defence!
In a country or state of hospital where you dont have an infrared thermometer, that you can use to check without body contact. It is advisable to have yours to prevent cross infection.
Now the mother is quick to act, not knowing the nurse is at her defence.
Your drs won't tell you that because you see them as saints, they are the one who doesn't require thermometer, but will send the baby back to the nurse if the temperature is not documented.
Nigerians and hypocrisy...
In a country where what you need to provide your greatest service to your patients are not available , you gats to improvise.
Mercury Thermometer is #200 , cross infection gotten from public use of thermometer can make you spend thousands.
Prevention is cheaper than cure .

Professionalism in health sector is achieved with surname you address a nurse or Dr with his surname
Its odd for u to call Dr.Wale or nurse kemi, a professional is addressed with his surname e.g Nurse odunoye , Dr.Effiong

Funny but true, recently I got employed by the ogun state Hosp management board and I was transferred to the Hosp where my nursing sch was, because most of them knew when I was a student and now I'm a snr staff in the Hosp most still call me by my first name instead of surname. Recently I had to change it for one of them who feels this young chap of then , he will call me authoritatively as if he feeds me or paid for my schooling.
I told him Mr , you have to address me with my surname this night , its unprofessional pls, but he thought I was trying to insult him in front of people.
And I really wanted that cos patients now call me by my first name instead of surname and its cos he disrespect me whenever he comes to my unit .

But be ready to pay with your life , we know what we are facing currently on it

If youre not from Ogun state you won't understand the politics of the state. The governor openly support anti-party, he defaced the state with opposition posters. I know Ogun state is a state of war for the presidential campaign. He can't eat his cake and have it. He is a tyrant. He should have allowed APC to have their day and free the hoodlums of his APM.
