Absu: Dalby:Guys, i dont know what your school of thought is, but if you hold Christian values, then virginity is dignity and its not a lack of opportunity. God has called us to be holy meaning to be separated from the world but unto God. God does not support premarital sex, hence when a man or woman does keep his/her body, it honours God. |
@poster, the reason why you might be struggling with it is becos u wld like to do it but concerned about your relationship, etc. Are u sexually active in yours? I guess so, which kind off makes it hard for you to tell her not to do it. Tell her NO! Simply avoid her for a moment until she restrains. Its the best thing you can give her. |
Rich Dad:whats the size of your house in square metres pls? the number of blocks suggests not so big a house. |
It depends on the size of your house. What you can simply do is measure the entire length of the walls in your plan, divide by .46metres (length of a block) and multiply by 13(number of coaches + breakage+wastage). For example, if all the walls' length is 150m. Then the total number of blocks needs would be (estimate) about = 150*13/.46 = 4239. Simply look at your plan if you have one and get the length. |
No Nigerian team should ever play in Lagos again .How unpatriotic and irresponsible can the Lagos fanatics (not fans) be. This is the first game under the new coach. The players only had two training sessions a day before the game. Why should anyone have expected miracles in terms of style and fluidity. With the hurry hurry approach of NFF/NFA, they managed two goals and should have been three (osaze's valid goal) or could have been four (penalty denied). They led until the last 5 or so minutes before conceding and the crowd goes silly! Pls dont play any game in Lagos again! ![]() Well, I see some positives in: - Yobo (commitment + experience. Still has something) - Taiwo (experience but still lacking in defensive qualities; match-rusty) - Joel Obi (tireless and intelligent; we havent had someone like him in the team for ages. with Mikel it will be a good partnership) - Musa (the Nigerian Walcott. Got pace but poor on the delivery. Needs to coached seriously) - Emenike (a good prospect but needs to be groomed) - Osaze (still has it but played an unusual role) - The Warri Wolves Striker (good start. needs to be monitored) Players that should leave: - Ajilore - Adefemi Others have 50/50 chance, |
Ujujoan:Before u solve any problems, you always need to go to the roots, hence that question? That statement doesnt mean that he has a right to cheat. Cheating is wrong even if she triggered it! Ujujoan:You cannot hear one side of the story and conclude. Can anyone prove that her husband's cheating? No. One can only comment based on what she had said and done. |
Ujujoan:Pls, I beg you, stop misleading people and yourself. It seems that I am the only one who finds your comments outrageous a lot of times. why would u say things like this? Even if you profess to have no faith beliefs, morally you would not make these comments. |
@mikeadeoye, what are the dimensions of the rooms you mentioned? You cant do an estimate without dimensions, |
cinzo:For a bungalow, they should charge you more than N50 per block. I did mine in Lagos for N45 |
I assume you might have spent most of your teenage and youthful times with only female friends, hence your attraction to women alone. From a Christian perspective, its not a healthy thing no matter how the world paints it. A man is wired to be attracted to and be with a woman and vice-versa. Spend more non-intimate time with male company to help you re-focus. Ask God to help you. Seek a matured Christian friend to talk to and you will get heavenly solutions. |
I find your actions so inappropriate. We dont know his side of the story, so one can only say to you: stop what you are doing before the consequences, which are already there, get out of control! You can never use a vice to stop a vice. You are giving your body to strangers and you think it would heal or stop your flirty husband? You are inviting woes such as diseases, heartbreak for you and your family and eventually a divorce. Will your parents and friends be proud of your preferred solution? You knew his nature and you still married him. Why not separate for a while? If you really cannot cope, why not have prayerfully ask God what to do? Question for you: Did you cheat on him before he started his 'cheating spree'? Are you also a player? |
@funkee34, I think you need to honest with yourself and ask all the right questions. You said that you have KNOWN him for 7 years. If so: Has he been a strong drinker all the while? How much did he take that was tolerable for you? How much does he take now that you cannot tolerate? If he has been a strong drinker and you never liked it, why did you marry him? Its almost strange that you dated him for 7 good years and now after a year you want to leave him. There are some missing information. I just hope you were not try to woo during these 7 years and now his lifestyle has become a problem. Please address the root of this challenge you are facing. With that in mind, you need to seek both spiritual and emotional solutions. Are you a christian, talk to someone elderly that you CAN trust. Alcohol is addictive and he will need to understand the dangers of it. He also needs to understand that you need his love at home. Pray my dear and God still does miracles. |
Ujujoan, Do you have a problem with pastors and preachers ![]() |
People, Is there anything wrong in someone desiring to serve his nation when the opportunity beckons? If I desire to give my neighbour a piece of bread to help him, so you are saying I should wait upon God before I do so? God has given us His spirit to guide us. God may not have spoken plainly to him that he should contest and will be vice-president but it doesnt mean he cannot contest. God's ways arent like ours. He may fail at the elections but through his acts, God maybe planning something greater for Nigerians and Christianity too. |
seanet02:Thats the speciality of . They always mislead people with their captions, like most media houses I guess, for the sake of money. |
That guy is not good for you, not even a l'il bit. Anyway lady who gets beaten by her lover should not consider getting married to that person. Is the guy working? Somehow, I guess the answer will be no. He's obviously relying on you and using you for his selfish reasons. Quit the relationship before we lose you! |
The way we argue and rationalise issues in Nigeria is baffling. We fail to consider integrity and track records. Where is the place for competency, my Nigerians ?Some call Bakare a fake pastor, but tell us what has he done wrong as a pastor? We want to know. PDP is crippling Nigeria and we are still satisfied to vote for their corrupt officers because Bakare is a pastor and Buhari advocates for Sharia Afterall, haven't we been ruled by muslims since Shagari? To GEJ's camp, what has GEJ done? Give us his track record. Jos is burning, Borno is in crisis, even the Niger Delta is boiling and he is mediating in Cote D'Ivoire? Lets throw all sentiments aside and reason appropriately. Every day, we cry out that we want good leaders but our eyes are so blind to change. We rather would vote for someone who will likely win rather than vote for change. ![]() We need to wake up and vote wisely! |
mekaboy:God bless you. We are on the same page. Some or most Nigerian Christians are just ignorant like the jews in Jesus' days, I weep for christianity in Nigeria. The Bible clearly says, when the righteous rule the people rejoice. Nigerians have been suffering from bad leadership. If truly Bakare and Buhari uphold what we know they believe in, the people will rejoice! |
@poster, The decision is yours to make BUT with the help of God. Let no one deceive you that what you are feeling is selfish or judgmental. There is nothing wrong with the way you feel and you are being truthful about it. It only shows you who you really are today. It reveals your true maturity. Some can easily handle it, others cannot. Girls need to understand that when a man has never being involved sexually, especially if it has been his desire not to, he is easily bruised when he knows that his girl has done it willfully. Its an ego thing. Its like he has shared his wife with another even if the acts committed were done a long time back. However, if you have been sleeping with her, then you also need to shut up, These are the reasons why you need to pray about it, so that you know where God is leading you to. There's no need to play a super-hero when you cannot cope. Marriage is a life-long thing. If she has truly changed her ways, its very possible that God has brought her to you for a reason. Its very commendable that she opened up but only God knows why. Most girls will never open up about a rough past. If you decide to go ahead, its important to discuss about possible diseases and fertility too. Many abortions could have led to a loss of the womb. If you love to have children, then its worth finding out. God will help you. |

What is Jonathan doing about the crisi? he's busy campaigning and doing big boy for ivory coast. Rubbish! |
If you ask me, I think Jonathan is a bad leader. What has he done about the killings in Jos? What is he doing to avert it? How can these Fulanis, a minority be killing women and kids May God judge all the senators, legislators and executive members who have failed to do something about these killings! I weep for Naija |
"One of the key reasons they were able to do this was because they had John Mikel Obi back in the side after an injury-hit period. With full-backs Ashley Cole and Jose Bosingwa encouraged to get forward, the Nigerian often acts as Chelsea's third defender in addition to their centre-backs, and as a result they are less likely to concede goals. So perhaps it has come as no surprise that his absence in recent weeks has coincided with the team's dip in form. Michael Essien, who has been out of sorts, and fellow midfielder Ramires, who is still getting to grips with the English game, have attempted to perform Mikel's role but they have not quite matched the 23-year-old in providing defensive protection. The other thing that Mikel provides is an easy pass out of defence. Chelsea's defeat by Arsenal at the Emirates over the Christmas period provided a stark example of Mikel's worth when Ancelotti took him off at half-time, only to see the Gunners pinch the ball in exactly the kind of space he usually occupies and score twice in the 3-1 victory." http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thefootballtacticsblog/2011/01/ruthless_chelsea_expose_predic.html |
i cannot tell you but there are some threads already existing with the same topic. Just search for 'cost for fencing' and you will get some 'info' du courage |
Well said Newmi. This is the very reason why we need to rely on the Holy Spirit to help us understand what God expects. The law, the Bible says. is good but how we apply it in this dispensation of grace and of the Spirit is very important. |
Let us also note that we are no longer under the law. If anyone chooses to abide by the law, then he must abide by everything the law teaches. The law is good and should be upheld but we are now led by the Spirit of God, hence we should allow the Holy Spirit guide us into all truth. We are no longer called to bring in a sin offering, guilt offering, burnt offering, etc because Christ has become our offering as the Bible teaches. Firstfruits offering is a way of appreciating God for what he had done or what He does in our lives. It makes us recognise who is the source of our everything financial increase. No amount of money can please God but our heart can. That's why He instructs the the "first of all firstfruits". Why? Because more often than not, the first is always the best. Give your best to God but let God help you determine what is best! |
Should I give my first Salary as firstfruits offering? Two weeks ago, I read in a National daily in Nigeria, that there was uproar in a local church because the Pastor requested members of the congregation to pay their first salary of the year- for the month of January as first fruit offering to the Church. Yesterday, I attended a Church service, where a similar request was made by the Presiding Pastor. He reminded all working members of the need to give their first month full salary to the Church as first fruit, and for Businesses- the profit of the first month. The Pastor reminded them that this is a Biblical injunction. I must admit that this is the first time that I heard of Churches requesting members to give their first month Salary as first fruit. Before now the injunction in most Churches is that the first Salary of a new Job should be given as first fruit. And I am aware that most practicing Christians do this In an earlier post, I outlined the main scriptural passages that dwell on the giving of firstfruits. For the benefit of all those that missed that posting, the scriptural passages are reproduced below: And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the filed….the first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the Lord thy God – Exodus 23 vs. 16 and 19 And thou shall observe the feat of weeks, of the firstfruit of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year end- Exodus 34 vs. 22 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the Lord thy God – Exodus 34 vs. 26 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, when ye be come unto the land which I gave unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruit of your harvest unto the Priest: And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you:…’ –Leviticus 23 vs. 10 All the best of the oil, and all the best of the wine, and of the wheat, they firstfruit of them which they shall offer unto the Lord, them have I given thee… And whatsoever is first ripe in the land , which they shall bring unto the Lord, shall be thine; every one that is clean in thy house shall ear of it. – Numbers 18 vs. 12-13 And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O Lord , hast given me. And thou shall set it before the Lord thy God, and worship before the Lord thy God – Deut. 26 vs. 10 Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thy increase; so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine – Proverbs 3 vs. 9-10 The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thy oil and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him- Deut 18 vs. 4 But now is Christ risen from death, and become the firstfruits of them that slept – 1 Corinthians 15 vs. 20 Let me start by stating that, from experiences and spiritual revelations, I have come to learn and believe that no man can out give God. Any offering made in righteousness and holiness, will always receive a reward. Therefore, even if you decide to commit all your earnings or profit to the work of God, in faith, you shall surely receive a reward and God will provide for all your needs according to his riches in Christ Jesus. Be this as it may, I do not remember that I ever given all my first salary in any new job or all the first month’s salary of year as a firstfruit. I have given out of it, but definitely have never given all. I do not believe there is scriptural injunction for this. Let us remember that Church doctrines are different from Scriptural injunctions, and in all my decisions I allow my understanding of the Bible to dictate my Christian life, even if this is against popular church opinion. I believe in firstfruits, but I do not believe all my first salary in a new year or from a new job or all my initial profit in a new business endevaour constitutes firstfruits. If we study the passages quoted above that dwell on firstfruits, we shall understand clearly that the intention of God in instituting this ordinance are: To honour him, as the maker and giver of wealth. To ensure that Priests and Levites that are working for him full time, are also honoured and have their material needs provided for. To create an atmosphere of Praise and worship in his presence, helping us remember our past years in the wilderness when we lacked, how we cried unto him, and he had delivered us from our afflictions. To ensure a continuous flow of income for the expansion of the work of God. In effect, giving of first fruits is a biblical injunction. But we need to answer two critical questions, what is a firstfruits and what constitutes first fruits? Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thy increase; so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine – Proverbs 3 vs. 9-10 The passage above from Proverbs should help us to answer the first question. A firstfruits is best described as the initial gain or profit you derive from every NEW activity that increases you. Now to the second part of the question- What constitutes firstfruits? Let us study more passages: And the feast of harvest, the firstfruits of thy labours, which thou hast sown in the filed….the first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the Lord thy God – Exodus 23 vs. 16 and 19 The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring into the house of the Lord thy God – Exodus 34 vs. 10 If we study Proverbs 3 vs. 9-10 in conjunction and in the context of Exodus 34 vs.19, Exodus 34 vs. 26 , and Leviticus 23 vs.10 , then we can reach some conclusions. In Exodus 34 vs.19, the Bible mentions the ‘first of the firstfruits’ not all the firstfruits; in Exodus 34 vs. 26 the Bible talks again about the ‘first of the firstfruits’ and not all the firstfruits; and lastly in Leviticus 23 vs.10 God demands a’ sheaf’ of the firstfruit of your harvest’ not all the firstfruits of all your harvest. If we consider this analysis dispassionately, it is clear, unambiguous and obvious that God does not expect us to give him all the firstfruits of our profits (for Businessmen’s), or the first salary(for paid workers), or the first month salary in the new year as some Churches are preaching. This is the biblical truth. What God expects us to do is to give the BEST of our firstfruits to honour him as the source of all increase. It is now left to the individual to decide what constitutes the ‘best’ or to use the Bible language what you consider as the ‘first’ or a ‘sheaf’ out of your firstfruits. If you consider 20% or more out of your first salary in a new work or 20% or more out of your initial business profit as the best sheaf out of your firstfruit, so be it. If you consider the whole salary or the whole profit as the ‘best’ ‘first’ or ‘sheaf’ out of the firstfruits, so be it. But the express injunctions in some Churches that members should give all the first salary in any new work place, in a new year, or all the profit of a new business endeavour as firstfruits, is carnal and definitely has no Scriptural basis. The truth is that the Spirit of mammon has taken over most of our Churches and various sorts of doctrines are being propagated as the Gospel truth. In any case, there is no scriptural injunction that defies rationality. Jesus came to carry our burdens and lighten our yokes, not to add to it. But like I stated earlier, decide what constitutes the ‘first’ or best ‘sheaf’ out of your firstfruits and act according to you faith. http://christonline./2008/02/03/should-i-give-my-first-salary-as-firstfruits-offering/ |
This issue is like flogging a dead horse, however a post-mortem of the award process is necessary. This is worst thing FIFA has done since Cannavaro was made Player of the Year some time back. There were astounding players this year such as Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Ronaldo, Forlan, Robben and Sneidjer. The major problem for me was FIFA's mystifying choice of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta as the top 3. If anyone did shine at the club and international level, it has to be among Xavi, Forlan, Sneidjer and Robben. Iniesta was injured for most part of last season and didnt contribute that much. My choice was obviously Sneidjer. Why he didnt make the top 3 baffles me. He was the anchor in Inter's treble last season. He was a force in leading Holland to the finals, scoring 4 (or 5) goals, as well as the important decider against all-mighty Brazil. The FIFA award doesnt go the most talent player but the best player in the year. Since captains and coaches did the voting, I perceive they didnt want the arrogant spanish players to win. |
There was a newspaper article published sometime last year on what these beggars make daily. Some vowed never to stop 'cos they get as much as N2,000 to N3,000 a day. No doubt, these children are being used illegally and shamefully by their irresponsible parents who are not even disabled. The government must pass a law to stop it. There are thousands of menial but respectable jobs that can be done especially in this Lagos, but the parents decide to be lazy. I admire the physically challenged persons I see especially on Sanusi Fafunwa in VI who help in controlling the traffic. The guys are working and they get tips from drivers. There are some who also sell on the road though its dangerous but they have an initiative. |
Giving should be joyful and not forceful. God loves a cheerful giver. He looks at the quality of your giving and not the quantity. Giving is a personal thing with God.The Bible urges us to give because it is really for our own good. Giving shows that we recognise the authority of God in our lives Giving is an act of gratitude to God The Bible says that the person that sows sparingly will reap sparingly and the one that sows bountifully will reap bountfully. No true pastor will force anyone to give. A pastor can encourage one to give for the individual's good. Every true pastor will not rely on the offerings from man for his sustenance 'cos He knows that he who keeps Israel neither sleeps nor slumbers. David, said in all his life, he has never seen the righteous forsaken or his seed begging for bread. If anyone cannot acknowledge God with the things God has given him/her, then surely God too will not acknowledge that person. God cannot be blessing someone who cannot come back and say thank you Lord with his gifts. Lets remember that our little offerings can never buy God as such, cos the Bible says that all the cattle on a thousand hills are His. God doesnt need your money. |
@poster, I am currently building (a twin duplex of 4 bedroom each) and even 25M will not do. You need to do a soil assessment as that can significantly affect the costs ranging from 2.5M to as much as 10M and over. blockwork for each floor will gulp at least 1.5M = at least 4.5m foundation at least 2.5M roofing at least 2M decking (2) at least 2.5M each = 5M Electrical @ least 1M Plumbing & Materials at least 1.5M Plastering at least 1.5M Tiling depending on choice at least 800k to several millions Surroundings if interlocking etc at least 800k Fence/gatehouse at least 1.5M With that you are already going to at least 20M and I am being modest. just get a good quantity surveyor to give you an estimate. be careful with verbal estimates, which is very common. Let the QS guy use the drawing plans and give you an estimate. Take it step by step and God will help if you believe in God. |
