Arsene has done well in looking for talents as well as in his style of play but if he insists on the same policy, he should be sacked. FIFA has U-17, U-20 and senior tournaments because levels are not the same. Arsene needs to recognise that. Boys will be boys.

Utaka gets Nigeria recall

Posted: 2010-04-18 17:23

Portsmouth's John Utaka, FC Zurich's Onyekachi Okonkwo and Salzburg's Rabiu Afolabi have been handed Nigeria recalls by Technical Adviser Lars Lagerback.

Outside of that, there were no surprises in Lagerback's list of 44, released by the NFF on Sunday, with only three players getting first time call ups.

Advocates of more players from the domestic league would be placated after the Swede included six players from the Nigeria Premier League, led by top scorer Ahmed Musa.

But there was no place for out-of-form fullback Chibuzor Okonkwo, who has been upstaged in the home-based Super Eagles team by the impressive Terna Suswan of Lobi Stars.

Rising midfielder Rabiu Ibrahim's lack of club action also counted against him, as he was not included. But Haruna Lukman, who has locked down a place in the Monaco midfield, gets a chance to impress the new coach in camp.

The players are to report to camp in the United Kingdom from April 27 and 28.

FULL LIST:

Goalkeepers: Vincent Enyeama (Hapoel Tel Aviv, Israel), Dele Aiyenugba (Bnei Yehuda, Israel), Austin Ejide (Hapoel Petah Tikva, Israel), Greg Etafia (Moroka Swallows, South Africa) and Bassey Akpan (Bayelsa United, Nigeria)

Yakubu is going to the world cup. he is still the best nigerian striker on paper though he still lacks fitness. Amodu shouldnt have taken him to the Nations Cup.

Which other active Nigerian striker has d same record as he? Not even Martins, Ogbuke, etc

Rather than cursing, lets hope he returns to form and improve his game.

@ kobojunkie et al,

Is it news that there are slums in Naija? Because BBC shows it now, it has become an issue.

Aren't there slums in other countries even in Europe?
The question ,what is BBC's purpose of showing these knowing it is not new?
Have you ever seen a documentary on the improving sides of Naija's affairs?

I don't know why Nigerians abroad would sit comfortably amidst racism in another man's country, chasing their citizenship, where he/she did not play a part in building that nation, and starts criticising negatively his/her own country angry rather than constructively. For me, its a shame. These people worked to build their nation and it wasnt done in a day. Why cant we think the same of ours! angry

I have lived and worked professionally in europe for years and it can never be home. If you cannot use what you have to bless Nigeria, then Nigeria doesnt need someone like you! You can curse and insult me if you want, but you were born in Naija for a purpose!

RomanceRe: Why Is It Difficult To Get A Virgin As A Wife? by larimo(m): 4:24pm On Apr 14, 2010
whenever the subject of virginity is mentioned on Nairaland, it always causes a stir.

Being a virgin simply means you have decided to honour God with your body. now thats a great thing, pleasing your God. if someone wishes to marry a virgin, its a great thing and can be very healthy in a marriage. many homes have broken down because of a partner's sexual escapades. many diseases have devastated homes because of illicit lifestyles.

however, the Bible doesnt say we must marry virgins but those who are washed in the blood of the lamb, in other words, christians (am not focusing on other things that are equally essential such as character, etc). if God leads you to one who has been sexually active before knowing Christ, it means God knows you can handle it. God will never give you what you cannot handle.

we should encourage people to abstain from sexual stuff and stay as virgins till they are married cos it does has a lot of virtues wink. I am blessed in such a marriage wink.

@All, pls stop bashing the poster, if you dont know his/her true state. As a christian, no sex before marriage, period. u can accept or leave it. If you are a christian and have lost your virginity and regret it, then face it and move forward positively rather than condemning a proponent of virginity.
RomanceRe: Do All Married Men Have To Cheat. by larimo(m): 2:45pm On Apr 13, 2010
not all married cheat. let that encourage you about your husband and marriage.

you also need to prayerfully fight the thoughts within you of your husband possibly cheating because that thought comes from what you saw your father did. You mustn't experince it too. Win your husband over and over again with your sincere love for him.

God bless.

Christianity EtcRe: My Boyfriend Is An Atheist. I Love Him But My Family And Friends Hate Him. Help by larimo(m): 8:45am On Apr 12, 2010
@poster, davidylan has read my heart very well in the post below 'in bold'. I understand your feelings, but my dear they are wrongly placed.

Marriage is ordained by God. Its beyond boyfriend & girlfriend. Its beyond pleasure and happiness. It has a lot to do with purpose. You are not trusting or looking to God in this. Have you sincerely prayed to God about this? Is God leading you or you are worried about your age and loosing "Mr. So Nice"? As christians, the Bibles teaches that we MUST NOT be joined in marriage to non-christians. Its not a debate/option. Its a command. Thats the gospel truth.

That guy hates christians based on your comments. He will divide you and your family/friends. He doesnt want to hear about Jesus-related topics and you think you will still be a christian in that marriage? If you make this decision, you will be isolated. Do you prefer losing your precious soul to an unforeseen future? Please don't. Go back to God in prayer and check your heart again. God must be knocking very hard and that's why you are seeing so many roadblocks in the form of your friends and family.

Forgive me if I sound too hard but I just don't want you to make an uninformed decision that will haunt/destroy you and your seeds tomorrow.

I have no problem with atheists. Everyone, including us christians, can believe whatever we like. My Bible tells me not to be joined together with a non-christian. You can accept it or not. Its a choice.

However, for our atheist friends in the house, I have one question for us: " Would you prefer to live your life as though God exists only to find out in the end that He doesn't or would you prefer to live your life as though God does not exist only to find out in the end that He does?"

"NB: I'm glad this was posted here . . . i responded to the thread in the romance section but it is more appropriate here.

There is growing trend i have been seeing with this new form of atheism . . . it is visceral in its hatred of anything christian, sometimes violent and elicits the worst kind of dislike.

For instance, i do not believe in Sango, but i dont go foaming in the mouth at the site of sango worshippers. Notice these from the OPs boyfriend . . .

Quote
He helps people at will and takes no offence whatso ever at my excesses except i over do it to a fault and instead of getting mad at me to hit me or abuse me, he just walks away for an hour or 2 and comes back as if nothing happens.

This guy must be gold . . . doesnt sound like anything upsets him but then . . .

Quote
Anytime i come back from Church and talk about my pastor or what i was taught, he gets very angry.

This looks like an "innocent" kind of anger but is it? why is this guy calm, cool and collected about EVERYTHING else but goes crazy at the mere mention of Jesus?

Quote
He doesnt like hearing anything about pastors, churches, tithes and sermons but when you get into a biblical argument with him, its as if he knows the bible inside out and the right quotes without even reading it. He is that articulate.

Satan knows the bible too, far better than the greatest preacher on earth . . . but knowing the scriptures is completely different from living it. Seems your boyfriend knows the bible verses simply as a weapon to denigrate it.

Now to the OP. . .

Quote
There was even a day some people in my fellowship came to meet him to pray and convert him and it turned into a debate and he ended up winning the argument and making us question or faith back in a total reversal of roles.

Quite clearly . . . neither YOU nor your church members understand the bible at all.

Quote
If i go ahead with my choice to stick with him, i lose my soul and my community but gain happiness because he has truely being a wonderful man so far but if i leave him for my friends, family and community i might lose my prince charming that every woman dreams of that loves me dearly.

You ma'am will only gain temporary happiness with this man. I'm sorry but no man (nor woman) is worthy of losing my soul in hell, faith in Christ and my entire family. Your "prince charming" may be ok with you going to church now but have you ever considered what happens WHEN you eventually become his wife? Would he stand the sight of you and his kids forever hoping from church to bible study, night vigils or prayer meetings? Would you have the freedom of praying in your own bedroom? What will his reaction be when he sees you reading the bible when he wants you doing something else? I think you are forgetting something very important - a marriage where the man and woman are divided on something as major as spiritual compatibility is one headed for disaster and misery for you.

When you have problems in this marriage who will you turn to? the mother, father and pastors you despised to marry your "prince charming"? You say that you are a "strong christian" but NO WHERE in your write-up did i read about you asking God if this man is truly His choice for you. You seem to be carried along by your infatuation for this man. . .

It is said that no matter how rich a young man is, he can never have as many rags as an old man. Your parents love you more than you think, you may be an adult and able to make your own decisions . . . but i'd be wary to marry someone my parents have deep reservations for.

Good luck to you"

Am sure everyone and the media are hailing Messi for his good play again (after the demolition of Passernal grin) but frankly there is no Messi without a Xavi!. It shows why Messi doesnt do well with Argentina cos there isnt anyone in the Argentine squad who does Xavi's great job.

In my opinion, Messi is an excellent player today but he is not yet in the class of the great players such as Maradona, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Pele.

i must say, we were lucky to escape with a 2-2 draw.

Can't really say anything about the penalty, only that we were lucky,

one can only hope for a win at the nou camp or 3-3 draw or even 4 - 4, nothing's impossible.

To me, i think Song played very well, kudos also have to go to clichy for marking messi,

For Barca, xavi and busquets were gooood!!!! they ran us ragged in tthe midfiled, thank goodness iniesta was not around.

As far as I'm concerned, there is nothin to celebrate, only something to be optimistic about.

But it can go either way, with d 2 1st choice CBs out, it would only make the game interesting.
spot on wink. They are not used to playing against teams that possess the ball better than they can and it caused a lot of trouble for them. It shows that they don't defend very well especially in the midfield.

However, a 3-3 draw at the Camp Nou  undecided. I don't see that happening even without Barca first choice CBs'. Arsenal MUST build a 2-wall defence and play on the counter. That was what I expected yesterday.

They must be patient in order to get that single goal. Everything is now on Nasri's head to deliver. He's the only potent person I see. Bendter can put up good games once in a while.

Despite my wishes for Arsenal (though am not a fan), my prediction is 2-0 for Barca at the Camp Nou. Sorry Gunners,
